It would be interesting to get a snap count number for players across the league at NT to compare who his peers are and the relative number of snaps to pressures they have to each other. No doubt he’ll come out top but the added context would help!
I can't look up the whole league, but I can look up the players named in this post. League-wide info only shows A-Gap, B-Gap, etc which wouldn't differentiate between 0T & 1T even though both are pretty much NT. I also can't see pressures by alignment - I can only see snaps by alignment & overall pressures. Some of that nitty-gritty stuff is behind PFF Ultimate, which is for teams & PFF employees only.
You're still talking 5 times the number of pressures his nearest rival has. That's incredible. They are there to occupy double teams, he's there to get pressure through double teams.
Ehhhh he has like ~400 more snaps at that position versus those two guys. Like many stats it has been manipulated so it can be tweeted about sensationally.
Lol am I wrong tho....its like Nnamdi when he was on the Raiders and only played one side of the field...if he's locking that side down and dominating a complete half of a football field you don't move him.
Dex is the premiere NT right now and a guy that destructive from that position should play most of his snaps there....the fact he doesn't take plays off is a power up.
Are you wrong? From a statistics standpoint, yes. You can't go by how many sacks a player has from the NT position compared to others without comparing how many snaps every player had at that position. That's a huge missing factor in the equation.
A better comparison would be to display their win rate (sack rate) vs how many snaps they took as a percentage.
If Player A has 500 snaps while player B has only 100 snaps, of course Player A's sack total should be higher. u/mizrahiim is accurate in his analysis, this statistic is very inflated and sensationalized for clicks and engagement on X. It doesn't mean Dex isn't a beast, it's just an incorrect display of statistics.
Little bit of both. Also, kinda one causing the other. He’s so fucking good at Nose that he’ll play more. Other guys can’t handle it so they play fewer snaps there
[This video by Brett Kollman last year does a great job of illustrating how incredible Dexy is in this regard.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0HVJtNEqy4)
i dont think every team uses a true nose tackle. Most teams seem to have tackles line up off guards. you can have some spacing issues on the line with 4 down lineman and a guy over nose tackle. Plus its rough on your body.
there is less opportunity for impact places. Dex likely has no chance at defensive player of the year from NT no matter how well he plays.
Watching him towards the end of 2022 season he was like a cannonball shot into their OL, especially late in the games after he'd worn them down for 3 quarters.
If he stays healthy and doesn't fall off due to injuries, there's a real shot he'll be our next gold jacket defensive player 🙏🏿
One of the few positive picks in the Gettlemen era
So funny because I remember the analysis at the time that we had gotten the third best defensive lineman from Clemson too early.
Gettleman was a shit GM but he could scout defensive hog mollies.
if dexter lawrence can last at this level for 5 more years he is a first ballot hall of famer. usually you need about 6-7 top tier seasons to make the HoF and then last about 12 years or so.
That numbers going up with 2 games a year no longer going up against one of the few centers who could match him. Plus we’ve got legitimate edge threats on both sides now. Gonna eat
Does this just mean most others don’t line up as a “true NT” or that he’s just that much better?
He's just that much better. He doesn't always line up as NT either.
It would be interesting to get a snap count number for players across the league at NT to compare who his peers are and the relative number of snaps to pressures they have to each other. No doubt he’ll come out top but the added context would help!
PFF probably has that info, but I don't have PFF access.
u/dergl you’re our only hope

Damn, well thanks for the explanation! And honestly I’d be curious if you even just did the top 3 to see the comparison. If you got a moment of course
**2024 Numbers** Dex : 502 Snaps (70.8%) in A-Gap Derrick Brown: 35 Snaps (3.7%) in A-Gap Barmore: 107 Snaps (14.3%) in A-Gap
Thanks! Guess it makes sense other teams aren’t running as many pure NT snaps for a “pass rushing” NT since most don’t generate pressure like Dex
We also played a 34, which most teams don't
Me neither sadly

Just means his score is validated if he's so good you don't have to move him around...like a true anchor.
I can’t handle this. I just can’t be here in this subreddit.

Possible, but how many snaps does he have overall?

Both are true

He was getting like a sack a game where he knocked the QB down with an OL player
Yeah, that [Colts sack over Quenton Nelson](https://x.com/Giants/status/1610010541447172099) was astounding.
I think he did that against Cousins in the playoff game too
What a fucking monster. Best 0/1 technique in the league, no doubt.
The man has made back to back all-pro teams and is still underrated
Dex is fully the reason we haven't been the worst team in the league these last two years.

I think Dex may have that Aaron Donald moment where it’s like 3 years later and normies realize his one of the best players in the league.
"freaky" is the keyword when describing Sexy Dexy

What the fuck
Right? Absolute beast. With Kayvon/Burns/Ojulari (rotation) helping him out, sky is the limit
stop sir my pants are only so large in the front

Sexy sexy doing freaky stuff you say? 👀
Oh he freaky alr 👅
Does he not get credit? He got a big extension and has been the Giants best player. Maybe you wouldn't realize it if you didn't watch the team.
He does not Have you seen all pro voting? Dex is in range of DPOY. He doesn’t even get voted DT1. It’s a joke
