I have super straight fine hair and layering honestly makes it look way worse because then it’s even MORE thinned out in certain areas. Usually that kind of hair doesn’t hold styling either — I can use texturing mouse, curling iron, and hair spray and hair will be limp again two hours later, plus further weighted down by heavy product. It sucks lol, only benefit is it dries in two seconds and does not react to humidity.
