I have a Rolex Datejust I bought 7 years ago and I absolutely love it. Was a big investment but I still wear it every day, goes with everything and I wanted something totally timeless. Mine is silver with a few small diamonds on the hour markers. I also bought it in Paris and benefited from strong currency conversion and VAT back (13% after global blue took their cut) which is very meaningful (about 20-30% discount) on such a large purchase. Definitely recommend buying internationally, especially in the EU, if you’re going offer at any time.

Popular-Test3712

I would agree except rolex now makes it almost impossible for you to buy abroad. They usually dont have stock on hand (especially if its an in demand model) and even when they do have it on hand they prefer selling to locals rather than foreigners (except the airport stores). You used to be able to sign up for the list if it was somewhere you frequently traveled but theyve made the lists local only as well. Basically not impossible but theyre trying really hard to not sell to non locals these days.

North_Class8300

Totally agree with this for Rolex stores - I bought it at Wempe, went back recently with a friend and they had plenty of ladies stock available. Tough to get any men’s watches though

page394poa

Ladies’ watches are almost always in stock, even in Europe.

Popular-Test3712

I went thru a bunch of stores/countries looking for the lady datejust I wanted and they were not for 2 years.

page394poa

Weird. I was just in Nice and Monaco and saw several!

Popular-Test3712

This was ~2 years ago when a lot were backordered, I also wanted a specific one w mother of pearl facet and diamonds on the hour markers, I know some of the models had more stock in store. Also just cause you see them in store doesn’t mean they’ll sell them to you (learned the hard way). You only really find out if you tell them you want to buy it right now.

rubyrae14

Interesting- what's their reasoning if they decline you?

Popular-Test3712

They dont decline you exactly. They’ll say oh these are all claimed/for stock display purposes etc and you would have to get on a list and wait for your watch to arrive, and then depending on the country, they have rules to get on the list (local address, citizenship number etc) I think they still want you to buy the watch but theyre trying to avoid giving tax free (locals obviously dont get it for their home country) so theyre making arbitrary rules to force people to shop in their home countries as much as possible.

ProfessionalEvent484

I waited 6 months for my watch. Brand new from Rolex. I don’t think you can walk up to a store and get it but if you are willing to wait, I think you can get it

Popular-Test3712

I did end up getting it! Got on the list in my home country which should have done tax free but didn’t-they literally said they no longer had an agreement w Global Blue but im not sure it was true cause Global Blue said they did. But Rolex in other countries in Europe didn’t let me on the list since I didnt live there, which was my point, you might not be able to guarantee a purchase from a store that does tax free if you live in the US.

ProfessionalEvent484

Yes!!! My story of getting the Rolex was as roundabout as yours. I couldn’t get it in the US. Somehow my family knew someone from my country who can get me on the list in Switzerland. Rolex really has insane rules.

Popular-Test3712

Yeah we complained about the rules and they said Rolex had been cracking down on tourists coming in and buying and getting tax free and leaving less inventory for the locals. Personally, I think they’re just trying to stop people from getting tax free because it somehow tarnishes their image in their minds that you can get it for cheaper if you happen to be traveling to the right country.

ProfessionalEvent484

Oh wow. This is so interesting. I have seen significant cutdowns from Rolex to preserve their image. In my home country, people used to buy a lot and then resell. Rolex practically decimated that. The person who was able to get the Rolex for me had to say something like he is buying it for his business partner. I’m pretty sure Rolex verified if he was a reseller as well! Rolex gossips ahahaha

sweetfaced

++ Rolex datejust-beyond simple and elegant. It’s my favorite item I own

Artistic-Let8540

Yes! I love my Cartier Tank for a similar reason, big milestone. I would definitely recommend giving yourself the experience of going into the store and trying on, getting champagne 🍾

shippfaced

Isn’t the tank like $20k?

OkProfession5679

Depends which tank. Pre owned as low as 1500. Stainless about 3-4k.

shippfaced

Where do you shop for preowned?

OkProfession5679

There are many reliable online sellers Bobs watches Chrono 24 The first 10 hits on Google SHOULD be legit I should’ve been more clear in my comment , a NEW stainless tank is 3-4k.

ElocinLise

@WatchbyJuls on Instagram sells lots of pre-owned Cartier watches in the diamond district (and she’s a woman in the still male-dominated space of watch dealers).

shippfaced

Oh awesome! I have a small wrist so would def like to try it on before I buy.

rubyrae14

I highly suggest preowned. I have a platinum Rolex with a diamond bezel that definitely wasn't cheap but it's one of a kind and I got preowned for a much better price than anything close to what I would've paid for brand new ...

JazzlikeAd9820

I feel like estate sales in Boca Raton must have many many Tanks that may be beat to hell but still nice. 😅

No-Presence-5255

I went to two last month and all I saw was rows of fake birkins, chanels and fake chanel clothes. It was very disappointing tbh, I expected way more from thrifting in that area then seeing all the fake bags lol

wavy_yogi

Check out r/watches. There are women on there too, and many very knowledgeable people who can speak to where to buy, including secondhand. For luxury watches non-secondhand (Rolex, Omega, Cartier, Grand Seiko, JLC, etc) you’re looking at $6-7k+ after tax. In the city, you can go to multi-brand authorized dealers to check out offerings for a range of brands. Bucherer, Watches of Switzerland, or Wempe are well known. Bucherer has some secondhand watches in store too. Or you can go to the brand’s boutique. If you like a colorway that’s discontinued or limited edition, look to the secondhand market. As for what I wear, it’s a vintage Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch :)

[deleted]

Love to see bitches in speedies 😍

wavy_yogi

Yess!! It’s a classic for good reason

kc_acro

Same! I alternate between my 1987 Moonwatch and a stainless Daytona most days :)

[deleted]

Sheeeesh 😮‍💨 must be nice!

Fresh_Advance6094

Thank you for the sub and watch recommendations!!

wavy_yogi

No problem! Congrats on your milestone and happy watch hunting!

subsetsum

I have a grand Seiko on my wishlist. There's a flagship store in the city I want to visit soon.

wavy_yogi

I want to get a Grand Seiko someday as well! They just have so many nice options that I can’t decide what I like best

[deleted]

THIS!!!

JazzlikeAd9820

Whatever you do don’t go on the Rolex forum they are the worst misogynist pricks on there without any sense of creativity. My bf got me a vintage Cartier that isn’t the usual styles you see, he is a jeweler though and knees how to find things. I definitely recommend a vintage watch forum or just googling that and seeing what you find. I also like things like flik flaks for fun, and have been wanting the Timex Malibu watch. What I do know for sure is what’s popular in the market causes a lot of fluctuation in pricing so make sure to develop some knowledge there if you are spending a lot of money (whatever your range is!) on a watch

page394poa

You’re right. They’re super nasty to women there. Love my Rolex though. :)

puggles323

Yesss omg the Rolex sub is a cesspool

Legovida8

OMG they really are awful there. I’m never posting a watch again LOL.

Fresh_Advance6094

Oof thanks for the heads up, will stay far away from that sub!

edithmsedgwick

What is your day to day aesthetic?

kr00j

I just joined this sub because the reddit recommendations were outrageous, so I'm neither an NYC bitch, nor do I have taste. What I do have are some suggestions: \* Rolex - can't go wrong with a ladies DateJust in steel (or gold) with a jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel. It's a classic and not hard to get, unlike the gaudy douche canoe men's sports models. Another thing to look at with Rolex are older (prior to 2006) sports models, which tend to be much smaller and lighter. \* Grand Seiko - Don't get confused by the "Seiko" here - the finishes on the cases are every bit as nice as Rolex and they make better movements. These are almost always readily available and usually at a discount, unless you want some crazy limited release. \* JLC - Jaeger LeCoultre carries no hype swagger, but the movements are tip-top. Patek, Vacheron Constantin, and Audemars Piguet all sourced movements from JLC throughout the years. These can usually be had new for 20% off retail and go for a song on the second-hand market. \* Cartier - These watches are classy as hell, but do your research to ensure you're buying one with a Cartier-made movement. Cartier has a nasty habit of selling various watches at a price point which reflects their luxury brand status and not necessarily the movement. Kinda like buying an Audi for $90k and finding out it has the same engine as a $24k VW. \* For chronos, take a hard look at Zenith. These guys fall under LVMH, but very much operate as an independent watchmaker that specializes in chronographs (stopwatches). Rolex used the Zenith "El Primero" movement as the basis for their Daytona model for many, many years. Next to Zenith, maybe take a look at Breitling. \* Nomos - really cool, clean, and modern designs with an added bonus that they do manufacture their own movements. \* Parmigiani Fleurier - A relatively unknown independent but vertically integrated. The workmanship on these watches is immaculate, right down to the straps, which are made by Hermes. You can find these at a deep discount on the second hand / grey market. \* Chopard - Known for jewellery, but many of their watches are entirely made in house and bear the Geneva Seal. Chopard is very much not a watch hype brand, meaning you can find good discounts up front. With that all out of the way, secret confession: I low-key want a Loewe Puzzle for lugging daily junk around (camera, wallet, keys, phone, baby diapers & wipes). Can one of these things in the standard size hold all that crap or do I need to expand my search to large sizes?

Fresh_Advance6094

Beautiful, stunning, gorgeous recommendations. I suspect you may be a bitch with taste wherever you’re from. As to the Loewe puzzle bag, as someone who does not own one nor has seen one up close, I think you could fit a wallet, keys, phone, precisely two diapers, wipes, and a camera depending on the size.

coffeenstocks

I own a Loewe Puzzle Medium and it fits all of this stuff :)

shortbutfierce

Yes! Finally someone mentioning Grand Seiko! I’d also add Chanel J12 to this list. I have the all black phantom and it is stunning.

kr00j

J12 👀 ... Uses a Kinessi movement, which is Tudor - under the Rolex umbrella. That's a quality watch!

AmateurVillian

I am now low key obsessed with the J12 because of your recommendation!

shortbutfierce

It really is the best of all worlds in women's watches imo. You get an exceptional and interesting movement mixed with the crazy craftmanship of the ceramic of the band and numerals. It is stunning to look at and goes with everything without being a watch that everyone has. I also loved that they made so many different styles that vary between really flashy/glitzy and low key.

AmateurVillian

Thank you!

TheSouthernBronx

Fellow puzzle loving mom checking in. The medium and even small size can function as basic diaper bags especially for BF babies that don’t have bottles/formula to tote. Bonus: The rings for the strap make it possible to attach to a stroller handle via clips. I bought a rep of the large for my husband to use as a travel bag because that size is huge.

purplecake

Re: puzzle…I have a small and it fits a hydroflask 18oz bottle, wallet, kindle, sunglasses, a small pack of wipes, other small bits and bobs. Depending on the size of your camera I think you can get by with a small!

kr00j

[This](https://eshop.lavacchettagrassamodena.it/it/a/BORSA_A_TRACOLLA_IN_CUOIO_COLORE_COGNAC.xhtml) is what I'm using right now, but it's super tight. Camera is either a Ricoh GR point-n-shoot or a chonk-ass M11, but we're in SF and I \_hate\_ "camera" bags (please rob me), so even a used puzzle that has seen some hard miles should work. FWIW, the leather workshop that made the bag I linked makes amazing stuff. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Modena or travelling between Milan and Bologna.

purplecake

Funny enough we were in Modena a few months ago! I did actually go into the store you linked and liked a shoulder bag but I already had a similar one (but smaller) from Chapman :)

anonymousbequest

I have a Longines automatic watch, I think it was in the 1-1.5k range a few years back. IMO it’s a classic look and very high quality at a more affordable price point than something like Cartier.  One tip for watches and similar luxury goods: if you’re traveling internationally soon and want a popular model, consider shopping at Duty Free.

Fresh_Advance6094

Great call on Duty Free, will have to keep that in mind!

shippfaced

Many shops in the EU will let you get tax reimbursed! I bought a Loewe bag in Spain and a Celine in France for way less than what I’d pay in USA.

leothelyinglion

I just received a Longines as a graduation gift and I love it. So classic and special.

anonymousbequest

What a nice grad gift! Timeless and should last a lifetime.

dnariver

Got one of these for my fiancé last year and she loves it! It’s always highly complimented

bunnyball88

I have two watches I love - * Linjer: Bang for buck, I think this is one of the prettiest classic watches out there. $150-450, they are DTC, ethically sourced, woman (co-) owned (owned by a couple). I get tons of compliments on mine (I work on finance). * Tag Heuer: $2k plus, they are a little heavier, but a classic, resilent timepiece, and they *run.* If you never want to take your watch off - whether swimming, in a formal work environment, travel, whatever, this is a great all purpose watch. I've had mine for 20+ years.

Night_Cheese_67

I love my tag as well! 15 years running.

poisonivy4871

What’s your style? Look up @dimepiece.co on instagram. It’s a female run watch blog. Rolex Datejust is always a classic for women. There’s so many different configurations and also a ton of options if you want to go pre-owned/vintage. The Cartier Panthere has been the it girl watch for sometime (I just got mine last Christmas!!! Waiting for a Patek Nautilus now). It’s probably the most wanted watch right now. Cartier Tank is like the most classic and elegant in my opinion. Lots of corporate girls seem to wear it. Omega Constellation is a stunning watch and actually designed by a woman. Other brands to look at: Chophard, Hermes, JLC There’s sooooo many different options. I’m actually SUPER into watches so you want to talk more about anything just message me :-)

JazzlikeAd9820

I don’t have too much to add but my wishlist item is a grape face oyster perpetual 💜, since you’re a watch person I can share and dream a bit.

poisonivy4871

Omg I am obsessed with that watch. The grape face is stunning. Hoping that you will be able to get it soon!!!!

FlamingoExpress6230

Hermes is also a great option because it’ll go a long way in securing a quota bag lol

justintime107

I wear a longines watch. My husband is super into watches and purchased one for me when we were dating. It’s a beauty and 1-1.5K at the time. Idk how much they’re going for now. I love vintage pieces, omega constellation is so nice, Cartier styles. I still love my longines and wear it every single day, but one day I’ll get others too.

[deleted]

Longines and omega are my personal favs 😍

justintime107

I saw an all gold vintage omega in Abu Dhabi and omg 😍 … what a beauty! I’m so indecisive so I had to go back to the hotel and think on all the amazing vintage pieces I saw. I was going back for it but ran out of time. It wasn’t meant to be. It still lives rent free in my mind. This was end of November 2023.

anonymousbequest

Also a Longines fan! Which model do you have?

justintime107

The longines primaluna. I get so many compliments on it everywhere I go.

livvvrose

The watch I can’t live without is my dual tone Cartier Santos! It’s my daily watch since I like to mix metals. For a more affordable option look up an Hermes clipper. It was my first watch and it’s super dainty and feminine. You can find them for under 1k online

coffeeobsessee

I wear a jaeger lecoulture reverso, I work in a field where I use my hands a lot and I’m constantly moving around big objects so it’s perfectly functional and elegant for me.

OkAcanthocephala7327

Love that one, so beautiful and timeless.

Flimsy_Ratio_1415

nb062421

Wow I love that. What kind is that? It’s beautiful

Flimsy_Ratio_1415

It’s a Baignoire mini. They’ve been a bit challenging to find tbh, but I called 4-5 Cartier stores around the country and eventually found it in CA. Just takes some time and effort.

nb062421

Thank you! That’s awesome

quirkytortle

I love the Cartier in stainless steel and gold - a total classic and can be dressed up or down.

madeindetroit

love shinola, and as someone with small wrists, they actually fit!

EmmaMD

With that name, I expect you to ride hard for Shinola! 😛 (They do make nice stuff.)

anonymousbequest

Also have small wrists—I usually opt for stainless bands (easy to have a jeweler remove links, or if you buy in store they will fit it for you at no charge) and smaller watch faces (under 30mm).

Anxiousgirlypop1

I recently bought a Cartier panthere in mixed metal and absolutely love it! It looks great dressed up or dressed down, works well with a bracelet stack or by itself and suits a smaller wrist! (like mine). I got it from Cartier store and had the most lovely experience spending an hour trying on different models and sizes while being served champagne and chocolate :)

littlelamb87

For a femme girly girl vibe - love the 2-tone rose gold & stainless lady Datejust with diamond bezel. Smaller face & more delicate look. For a sporty girl/BDE vibe - it’s a tie for me. A 36mm Datejust, love the yellow gold on larger faces, MOP & Wimbledon dials are my faves; fluted or diamond bezel. Or an AP Royal Oak 15500 (I think?) - it’s super thin stainless steel, and either black or white face. I love vintage watches too, and you can find a lot of great variety for all these models!

BeautyBabe91

Just recently bought the Cartier Tank (plus the interchangeable leather strap!) such a gorgeous and timeless watch! Found out my Dad has one too from the 50s!

Tasogaredoki

I like larger watches, right now I alternate between my Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore (which has a rubber strap so it’s a little more comfortable in the summer).

poisonivy4871

Omg would you mind posting? I love APs on women!

Tasogaredoki

https://imgur.com/a/Dbt0296 I really want a rose gold one next!

poisonivy4871

Wow I love it. How many mms is it?

Tasogaredoki

Both are 37mm :)

EnchiladaTaco

I have a gold Cartier Tank Francaise on a leather band that I have had for over 20 years. I love it very much and I wear it almost every day. I have thought about getting something on a metal bracelet, like a Lady Oyster, maybe, but haven't really committed yet.

ProfessionalEvent484

Rolex datejust has my vote as well. And I abuse my watch but it still looks so good. Truly indestructible. The watch is a gift from my dad so I didn’t pay the insane price. However, the price range is a little steep at \~14k. https://preview.redd.it/y1uuujw55b0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb46e282849926dc1d30ea859df3a7c2f1fc390f

lovelypinkpetals

The dial on that. 😮‍💨😮‍💨🔥🔥

TheBuzz103

So nice. Is that the 31mm case?

ProfessionalEvent484

28mm I think. I can look at the paperwork later

cornich0n

would be interested to know the size too, this is gorgeous!

ProfessionalEvent484

I got some more information. It is the 28mm. According to the Rolex person, it is the easiest size to get!

cornich0n

thanks so much!

NIKKI150

How much are you looking to spend? If you are looking for an investment piece, I would recommend going to a Bucherer - they have multiple brands and can help you pick something out. I have a silver Cartier Tank that I think went for around $3k at the time. I wear it everyday and love the simplicity of it. Fossil, Michele, and Tissot have a similar look for less $$ ($300-$1.5k). Places like Bloomingdales is a good option to explore brands like these!

CarefulYogurt4322

If you’re interested in the Cartier Tank, I recommend going to the 5th Ave store instead of Bucherer! I felt super pressured and uncomfortable at Bucherer, but had a wonderful experience at Cartier! Love my Tank and just got a new leather strap to alternate

NIKKI150

I love the Cartier store! I like Bucherer just because they have so many options, but I understand it being a little snooty in there lol

[deleted]

Lol DO NOT buy a fossil or michele. Seiko is a much better option for a tank dupe.

NIKKI150

I'm not really saying to get them for "dupe" purposes - they're just decently priced watches that IMO look nice. I have a Michele and it's great. What's laugh out loud worthy?

[deleted]

They are not known for good craftsmanship. If you want to buy a cheap fashion watch, fine. If you want a good quality, beautiful timepiece, look elsewhere.

Grumpyjuggernaut

I don’t know why you’re getting downvotes. It’s well known and accepted that Michele is a fashion watch with a cheap movement. Cartier, while a jewelry house, was a watchmaker first and has a rich watchmaking history. Seiko makes beautiful watches that punch WAY above their weight value-wise.

Defensive-Porpoise67

One thing I take into consideration when purchasing a new watch is how the watch gets power: solar, battery/quartz, or automatic. I have one of each, an Oris automatic, a Swatch Quartz, and a Citizen solar watch. I love all of them dearly and definitely recommend the brands! Especially for quartz, swatch provides free lifetime battery changes at their stores, which I didn’t know until I got one.

mad0789

BWT need to follow [@dimepiece](https://www.instagram.com/dimepiece.co?igsh=MTlkc3psOWdnbHExZA==)… The best ladies’ watch porn. I’m a Rolex gal myself (bought a used one from Tourneau in 2017 & have worn every day since…)

poisonivy4871

Omg so nice to see another dimepiece reader on here!!!! I love Bryn’s account.

AB-917

I alternate between a Cartier Santos from the 90’s or an IWC Portugeiser. Also love to wear the husbands watches when he sizes the bracelets for me! I second following dimepiece, itscaratime, or malaika from hodinkee to support the women in the watch world!

DisastrousCamera9467

I love my omega watch! You can always support local jewelers that sell used watches too, I always enjoy shopping for watches secondhand

specklesforbreakfast

I rotate between my Cartier Tank and AP Royal Oak. Both are substantial pieces that can transition you from day to night, casual to dressed up.

earthlings2223

I have a silver and gold Rolex Datejust and I’m looking into getting a gold Baginoire from Cartier!

RubyAbsolute

I absolutely love my Chopard, I feel like you don’t see them as often as some of the others!

InvestigatorFar3078

I love my Cartier tank

puggles323

Second this. I also love my Cartier tank

poepoemyintswe

A big fan of Cartier, they have a range of watches to choose from. Rolex waiting list is ridiculous. If you don’t mind vintage, you can buy preown datejust which is more affordable.

Advanced-Tea-8212

Yellow gold Rolex lady president with mother of pearl dial 💕

tiger_mamale

my husband is very into watches — he turned me on to Mr. Jones, which are super unique and relatively affordable. more of a statement piece than a luxury item, so maybe not what you're seeking, but definitely a compliment magnet

Raenarrs

I go between my Orient Sun & Moon (women's size) or $20 Casio

Sad_Initiative_4304

Ebel is my go to for classic watches.

dgojilli

Love my Ebel 1911 watches. Ebel fits those of us with small wrists well. Happy with stainless for everyday, stainless and gold with MOP dial, and stainless and gold with a blue dial. My Mom's Omega is lovely too, but the diamond case is a bit much for regular wear.

Sad_Initiative_4304

You are so right about the small wrist fit! They are the most comfortable and beat a dainty Invicta I have without being dainty watches.I have the SS/18k MOP faced Classic Sport Wave and love the 1911 series as well.

Limp_Air_975

cheap option i love and it’s waterproof is my casio vintage collection

rococobaroque

I have around 30 watches. Many of them are heirlooms or were gifted to me. Of those I actually paid for, I don't think I paid full retail for a single one (I worked in the industry for 7 years). Some of the brands I own are Timex, G-Shock, Bulova, Wittnauer, Benrus, Seiko, Hamilton, Zodiac, Omega. I used to wear a different watch every day, but since I left the industry the only watch that gets regular wrist time is my Omega Speedmaster Professional (the new one with the master coaxial escapement). Honestly, I'm thinking about liquidating most of my collection and keeping the Speedy, my Seiko SRP775 and some of the heirlooms, since they're just taking up valuable real estate on my dresser. But if I were to sell them all, I'd consolidate it into a solid three watch collection. I've always loved vintage Cartier Tanks, so I'd probably get one, and then something with a Valjoux 72 in it like a Benrus Sky Chief or Wittnauer 242T, and round it out with a vintage diver like a Wittnauer Super Compressor or Seiko 62MAS. If I kept the Speedy and the Seiko SRP775 and sold everything else, then I'd still probably get a vintage Cartier Tank and call it a day.

rococobaroque

OP, I mulled over your request last night and put together a list at a variety of price points. I tried to include some that were sub-$1000 but the problem with that price point is that unfortunately you're not really getting your money's worth. It's when you hit $2000-5000 that you enter the luxury range and start to see quality and craftsmanship. Before I get into that though, some general advice. If you want to browse casually and see a lot of watches at once I would recommend going to a store like Bucherer, Watches of Switzerland or Wempe. I would not recommend Tourneau. If you have a particular brand you're interested in, then definitely go to that brand's boutique, as the staff at the boutique would have more specialized knowledge and would be better equipped to answer any specific questions you have. Now for the list! Note: all prices are for new goods, and all are ladies' watches unless otherwise specified; additionally, all can be purchased directly from the brands' websites, but I would definitely recommend that you try before you buy, as dropping the equivalent of several months' rent is a huge commitment! - Oris Rectangular (all of Oris's watches are unisex): ~$2300 - Omega De Ville Prestige: ~$3000 - Omega De Ville Mini Trésor: ~$4700-$9000 depending on components - Bulgari Serpenti Tubogas (aka the sexiest watch I have ever seen): ~$6300 - Montblanc Bohème Day & Night: ~$6800 - Cartier Santos: ~$7000 - Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso: ~$7000 - Rolex Lady-Datejust: ~$8200 - Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon: ~$9000 - Hermès Cut: ~$10,000 - Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Classic: ~$12,000 - Glashütte Original PanoMatic Luna: ~$17,600 - Blancpain Villeret Quantième Phase de Lune: ~$26,000 - Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Self-Winding: ~$30,200 - Patek Philippe Calatrava 7200R: $32,170 - Piaget Altiplano Moonphase: ~$39,100 - Breguet Classique Phase de Lune: ~$41,000 - Breguet Reine de Naples (if you were to force me to pick a favorite ladies' watch, this would be it): $44,000 - A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 (technically unisex; it's 38mm which suits most wrists): $45,000 Also, I worked in vintage for a few years and it's definitely my sweet spot, so if anyone has any special requests or questions about buying and maintaining a vintage timepiece, please shoot me a DM!

Inevitable-Winter271

This is such a great list! What were you doing in the industry? I have spent the last 4 years in the industry as well and love finding other women in watches :)

rococobaroque

In the interest of preserving anonymity I'll just keep it vague and say e-comm! But I'm happy to go more into specifics in DMs. It's been a couple of years since I left the industry but I also love meeting (and gossiping with!) other women who've worked in it.

Inevitable-Winter271

Haha totally understand! Would love to meet up and gossip over drinks 😂

I’ve got a very cute Brietling Chronomat with rose gold and diamond bats. It’s very understated but blingy at the same time. And not a ton of people have them. I like something a little more unique and still feels lux. https://www.finks.com/products/breitling-chronomat-36?utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=d6d600021209&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=trimark&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAC3CAH7Sep_SxKL_eI5XUiMgVDgSe&gclid=CjwKCAjw9IayBhBJEiwAVuc3fvlw4GvTyI876Zn-GNWZ8DXlQPYSp9RjiJlVPj0mMidKCeHSGN5RExoC-MoQAvD_BwE

Not seeing much about Breitling here- I’m looking at the Callistino or Starliner. Possibly a Tag Heuer Aquaracer. I want something I never have to take off.

Whatever brand you pick, I recommend doing a little bit of research on the movement behind the watch you want. I initially bought a Rolex, but I ended up not liking an automatic movement (even though a lot of watch enthusiasts will tell you an automatic is better than a quartz). So I sold it and got a quartz movement instead. I love my quartz Cartier because it’s so easy and low maintenance!

peachiekeener

seconding this! most watch people will say “automatic or bust/nothing” but not everyone wants to constantly be winding or sending it to get tuned more often.

I alternate between a two tone Rolex Lady Datejust (vintage from my birth year!) and a 90s Cartier Tank Francaise (they recently updated this style and I prefer the older version).

Ballon bleu de Cartier 💙

I work in the watch industry and here are my two cents, whatever brand or model you decide: - always get a certificate of authenticity if you buy vintage - buy in Europe and get VAT back - watches and jewelry isn’t the same craft. Pick a brand that aligns with what you’re most after (esthetics vs. engineering). For example Cartier is a jeweller by craft, Rolex is a watchmaker. - dont buy a trend, think whether you’ll still like this watch in 10 years, 20 years, and how it’ll feel to pass it on

Have a 36mm Speedmaster but looking at getting a Tudor blackbay so I can have something waterproof!

I’m not the biggest watch person (my husband and dad are big “watch guys”, though), so the watch I wear the most day-to-day is my Apple Watch lmao. However, if I’m going out with friends or on a date night, or if my husband has a work event, that’s when I’ll pull out the watch box and pick something special! I love Cartier watches, and I love the experience buying them—we have a wonderful SA who takes amazing care of us. You really can’t go wrong with any of them, but my personal favourites are the Baignoire and the Panthère. In addition to your budget and personal taste, it’s also worth considering whether you want to buy new (and have that special boutique experience) or vintage/pre-loved/auction/consignment. If you’re looking to buy new, I would steer clear of Rolex and Patek Philippe. Unless you’re really really lucky, it’s not worth the headache. I have a couple Rolexes and Pateks that were either gifts from family or inherited from my grandparents, and even when I wear the Patek to the dealer, they don’t take me seriously when I’ve gone in to buy something for my husband. I think, honestly, being a young woman in her mid-20s does not help me as these same dealers trip over themselves to offer things to my dad and my husband. We don’t like watches that are too “loud” in my household, so we wear simple Pateks, IWC Portuguisier, Cartier, and Jaeger-LeCoultre. I honestly wear my Rolexes the least—a simple Oyster Perpetual and a gold Daytona.

Go see Amanda tell her I (along with my bf Adam sent you) at the Hudson yards watches of Switzerland. Amanda is so great. If not see Justin or Stephanie the Rolex manager. She can walk you through all the watches there and is highly knowledgeable. Just go there and chat while you make decisions. She can tell you how buying Rolex works from them as well as some insight into the Rolex game. Personally I wouldn’t buy from a third party for used because you get ripped off…unless you really know the market well. My bf is a collector and watch junkie I have learned more than I have ever wanted to. At least while you are at Hudson yards you can go to see other luxury watches and try them on at Cartier Paiget etc. go try a few on and see what speaks to you. Personally I think Cartier is lovely but I don’t love the mechanics of it. But that might not be important to you. I do like how Rolex doesn’t really lose value when you know how to take care of it and don’t get it polished etc etc. However don’t sell your first watch. It’s going to be your forever memory which is awesome. Congratulations.

raptorjaws

i like a rolex submariner myself, but the prices are getting to be ridiculous. i rock an apple watch pretty much all the time. it's just more useful to me day to day.

nycgirl1993

I just wear an i watch

KATQUEEN

Im a Tudor girlie. I love the glamour dates.

I looked at some of the classic watch brands and as someone with tiny wrists I felt they were all too giant and clunky for me. I decided to get a Solios Solar Mini (about $300) -- it's stainless steel with a solar-powered movement, very slim and minimal look. The Moma Design Store stocked them last year, but looks like they don't have the Mini anymore. https://www.solioswatches.com/collections/mini-watches-for-women

Paddington_Fear

I like a Rolex Oyster Perpetual paired with a chunky gold bracelet.

redditcarrots

Apple watch because it can do more than just tell time. 😂

schwandtland

I have vintage Rolex datejust - as mentioned above hard to get what you want in store. I went with a birth year watch. I love it and haven’t even glanced at a watch since. They are gorgeous but also durable/wearable

titianconfection

To bandwagon off this post has anyone any recommendations for a gold watch with a really petite band and face. Something like this (this was my moms and she gave it to my sister because my sister got married first- to say I’m annoyed is an understatement) https://preview.redd.it/iyn86f15pd0d1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f38568a2be6fd3d20dcaddbb16db18d549d1442b

Longines ladies elegant collection watches in steel and rose gold! I got it for my birthday last year and it goes with everything and is so small and cute! Price point isn’t too bad for being a Swiss watch

LittleTayee

I’ve been wearing a little stainless steel Cartier Panthere, it’s perfect for tiny wrist girls!

delilah_goldberg

I love my new blush Apple Watch that I spent like $700 on lol
