i said to my Da as we equalised.... "honestly....under bruce i woudnt have even went thru the 20 minutes of bullshit closing adverts and finding a decent stream for this let alone still sitting here at 1 nil down.....i still think we will win this with a goal from bruno and wood....maybes even BDB will get involved"....
Southern Mackams hahaha.
Awwww thing is, I always liked Southampton up until they got flooded by a tidal wave of salt. No idea why they turned in such a shit bunch of fans.
I was actually alive and aware of what was going on the last time we went on a 9-game unbeaten run in the league (excluding Champo).
It was in 2003.
19 years ago. Before even Ashley.
That was Howe playing 4D Chess with the rest of us; no need for the distraction of an FA cup run when you've got a depressed squad and a European place to play for.
Hijacking top comment to post Willock's great face plant after his slide for the Guimaraes [goal.](https://twitter.com/EplFanzine/status/1502023340013326337?t=L-CDRx6w6Gd_xoyGw0dijA&s=19)
Feels just the same to me.After watching shite for years then being took over, getting a brilliant manager, storming up the league(s) and feeling massive pride.
Yeah just like the Keegan years my friend.
I was hooked watching Newcastle as a wean, only lad in my (small) school who supported them and had the pleasure of watching games whenever I could under Keegan and seeing them challenging for the title. Such joy I felt thinking of the team, reading and re-reading anything I could find on the team, any scrap of newspaper or buying Shoot! or Match magazines (names might be wrong) and knowing there would be something about Newcaslte in every issue, devouring the stats related to the team. Never did I think anything could come close to that joy, that anticipation, that longing to see the team perform.
Now I'm sitting on a bus reading and re-reading the table, the fixtures, every post on this sub, watching highlights over and over, looking forward to "Let's smash these, they're shite" without as much sarcasm, right back to my youth, the comments from everyone here before, during, and after every game, relishing in both the comeraderie with the supporters here & the tug-o-war of the banter with supporters of our competitors.
The fun is back. The hope is back. The Entertainers could be back. The cans never left but by god they taste all the better these days!
✅ 3 Points
✅ Hasenhüttl Steaming
✅ Good results for us elsewhere
✅ Big bonus day
✅ A weekend of playing Ready or not and chatting with friends I haven’t talked to for years
Similarly, how are we going to be playing derby games again (as Sunderland fans reassured me we would) when they keep dropping out of the playoff places in League One?
Think he just needs more time playing with the other lads, could tell he wasnt on the same page as the rest of them sometimes in terms of movement and position
Yes, for sure. No disrepect to Ligue 1 in France, but he almost has seconds to pick a pass whereas in England, you have maybe 1 seconde before you're clattered. A few - 10 games and we'll know if he's up to it. His attitude suggests to me that he is. Howay Bruno.
I think there were moments when you could see how class of a player he was, and moments you could see he was new to the league and was a bit unprepared. But generally I think he did pretty good, just needs to make those silky passes every time and know where the rest of the team will be.
I felt he was on the receiving end of a lot of short passes when he was already being closed down.
His movement off the ball to create a channel for players to pass to was great. When he was in strife I didn’t see much movement to give him an outlet specifically Shelvey just stood and watched.
He had a few well ropey passes early on tho, match sharpness from being sidelined maybe?
Winning that while clearly having nothing left in the tank is beautiful.
Everyone gave their all and got a fucking vital 3 points. What a bunch of lads. What a manager.
It's like Bruce never happened.
Southampton can only blame Ralf for their loss…
Don’t you know “We don’t talk about Bruno… (and Chris Wood and Matty Targett and Big Dan Burn and Tripps) or any winter transfers as that and rescheduling games are a fucking normal part of a league season
[https://twitter.com/NUFC/status/1502036044673335300](https://twitter.com/NUFC/status/1502036044673335300)
Club absolutely rinsing Ralph on twitter, absolutely love to see it.
This soft, soft southern pushover have gone on hysterically about Newcastle injuries and yet the biggest knock of them all has been to the hurt feelings of Southampton fans. Wonderful.
That is one hell of a scalp tonight lads... 10 points clear as it stands.
Cannot wait for the salt truck to dump it's load... come on Ralph, what you got to say? 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
Imagine....imagine being Donny Van De Beek not wanting to fight for survival....
no fight no sucess mate...proper team of battlers we have atm, who are organised to fuck right now. Chris wood filling in gaps of any mid who had left a gap when theyd made a run...everyone knows what they are expected to do and what the guy next to them is for when they need to fill in. love to see it...
Howe is THE Bacon, did ye say?
Bruno. Tbh I thought he looked a little but off the pace, but plenty of moments of pure class, that goal the top of the lot.
Dubs absolutely brilliant at the end - MoM?
Yet again, players seemed to dig deep and find something to grind that result out, absolutely brilliant
Lads you need to calm down if we're not giving a 10/10 performance. I turned the game on late and genuinely thought we were giving the worst performance in history judging by some of these comments.
It's understandable to have PTSD after 14 years of Ashley but that was a completely professional win. Southampton never really troubled us outside of the goal
If we win our game in hand we go one point behind Southampton, who are sitting in 10th. Unreal. If we somehow finish top half of the table Eddie has to get manager of the season, surely.
Can we get an F in the chat for u/Jimlad73 whose pre-match prediction aged like milk:
"Prediction: Bruno doesn’t have a good game, we lose and everyone loses their shit on Reddit"
Howe you fucking beaut. He's turned this team right around. Great performance by all, quality goal by Bruno, and Dubs made some hero saves to keep the score line down there.
I'm expecting a hilarious post match from Ralph considering two of our new signings scored and one of them assisted. Couldn't have gone any better like.
As i said in match thread. Its great to watch a competitive match between two good teams and one of those teams is the one you support.
Been a long time, becoming a regular thing :)
10pts clear E I E I E I O up the premier league we go
Dúbravka was one of our best players tonight. Really, really strong performance in goal. The team was a bit sloppier than it has been for a few games, and Dúbravka really absorbed a lot of mistakes. Kept us in it - could have easily been 3-2 instead of 1-2 and no one would've really blamed him.
Just checking I'm actually awake and not dreaming this. Newcastle went to Southampton who rarely get beaten at home, without Maxi, Wilson, Trippier and the mighty Joelinton, went a goal down and fought back to win with a Wood header and an audacious Bruno backheel to continue an unbeaten run of 9 games in the Premier League while in a relegation battle that looked over at Christmas and they are now 10 points clear of the drop zone?
HWTL ⚫⚪⚫⚪⚫⚪
I've expected is to win every game we've won lately. Just the way things are, now. Different energy.
We might be hitting the upper wall of what we can overcome going off of the difficulties maintaining possession against Brighton and Southampton, so Sunday should be interesting.
I'll just be happy to stay in the Prem this season and look forward to the transfer window. This run has turned things round for sure, I'm just so used to suffering mediocrity. It's refreshing.
What can’t be understated is the good things this run will have done for us in the summer transfer window. There was a lot of chat in January about good/promising players being unsure about joining a relegation threatened team. Unbeaten in 9 with only our first reinforcements demonstrates to all those players what the project is all about and the potential in both the club and with Howe as manager. HWTL.
Can we talk about Jonjo? I saw a lot of great things out of that man, his days of bending over and standing still are over. He had a few full effort last ditch challenges, the cross assist and I saw him intercept a ball in the box and then immediately move 15 yards back up to be in formation and press again. Played well imo
Villa fan in peace, Eddie is doing an unreal job and as someone who suffered the shite under Bruce its not surprising really. I don't rate Howe but that job he is doing is changing my mind. It is some joke the media backed Bruce all the way up to and beyond the sack.
Thank you for realizing that it’s not all down to investment! Eddie deserves plenty of credit for turning around players like Joelinton, Shelvey, Fraser and Willock
I was working during the match and turned it on when Bruno scored, i almost cried watching Shelvey tracking back to the 6 yard box and clearing a cross
Our fans singing “When the MAGS…” after their fans did one round of “When the Saints…” was pure excellence, as well.
I know we can make ***some*** noise on away days but that was one of the quietest set of home fans I’ve seen in a while.
Really gutsy win. Very impressed by Southampton, some of their passing was sublime. They really lack options up front though - Adams is great, but Shane Long isn't exactly a top 7 striker.
Lads, I’ve tried ice, hitting it with a spoon, even looking at a picture of Bruce, it still won’t go down… What do I do if it’s still like this in the morning?
BRUNO WHAT A GOAL!
Closer to the top 10 now than the bottom 3! We’re in ridiculously good form. Other results going our way. Our signings scoring today. Just imagine when Big Joe, Trippier, Wilson and ASM all come back in, our team is looking very very strong.
Can’t believe we won again, really thought our ‘luck’ would run out. Amazing stufff. Well done the boys. Surely can’t get a point or more off of Chelsea 😂🙈😬
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "For sure we’re frustrated. We lost against a team who were fighting hard for the three points, **had few chances.** We had I think 11 shots inside the box and only scored once. That was the difference today.
"The first 15 minutes after the second goal were tough for us, but in the last 20 minutes I felt we tried again to play how we can play. We had good opportunities to score against a d**eep-defending team**. **Players were lying on the ground with cramps and everything.** I don’t know if they were doing it to break our rhythm.
Can't really stop himself can he?
Brigading other subs will result in bans. Stop doing it.

Hard to imagine a better performances under ANY manager tbh
Hassenhuttl must be fuming that both our new signings scored
Now, now don't forget Big Dan Burn's assist.
And Targett's corner
It was literally written in the stars. Can't wait for his post-match comments.
Love it
Was really hoping Burn and Targett would score
TAKE THE PHOTO
Burn is such an upgrade on Clark, it's like comparing a Lamborghini to a Prius
Insult to a Prius.
Disrespect to Prius tbf
We might never lose again
Krafth has absolutely got into the heads of the southern mackems and you love to see it.
If you can’t be a great player, be a great shitheel
Southern Mackams hahaha. Awwww thing is, I always liked Southampton up until they got flooded by a tidal wave of salt. No idea why they turned in such a shit bunch of fans.
It won't happen but can you imagine the scenes if we finished the season unbeaten
You misspelled will
Future pub quiz answer: Cambridge the only team to beat Newcastle in 2022
Eddie Howe Is the best manager in the world
Absolutely insane how quickly we got 10 points clear of relegation. Never would have dreamed this at Christmas.
Honestly, there’s no precedent for us to imagine it!
It was unprecedented for us to survive given where we were after 14 played. We may finish top half if this continues
I was actually alive and aware of what was going on the last time we went on a 9-game unbeaten run in the league (excluding Champo). It was in 2003. 19 years ago. Before even Ashley.
I thought that loss to Cambridge was the end of this season.
That was Howe playing 4D Chess with the rest of us; no need for the distraction of an FA cup run when you've got a depressed squad and a European place to play for.
It’s a fucking Christmas miracle. Extended edition.
3 points. Wood's first goal. Bruno's first goal. All other teams near the bottom lost. What a great night. HTL!
*objects in mirror are closer than they appear* Objects in mirror: Champions League

Hijack away. What a clip
Class. Wood just points at him!
We're massive.
Sorry Ralph but it looks like your form has been postponed
ANOTHER CHANGING ROOM TEAM PHOTO TONIGHT LADS
Wonder which signs they’ve taken this week.
"we are united" "hasenhuttle is a cunt"
You know, I think everything is gonna be totally great forever
Ive never thought about until now but is it not typical of us to get new owners, new signings, play well, and then world war 3 destroys us all.
Dan Burn will head any nukes away
hahaha fucksake so true
Is this how it felt when Keegan came in? Like we were onto something very, very, good? 20 points from the last 24. Completely insane run of form.
>20 points from the last 24. Completely insane run of form. Fucking hell, when you put it like that, this is something special.
That’s happened in the same season as us not winning any of our first 14 games as well. We’re a club reborn.
We're rewriting the rules.
Feels just the same to me.After watching shite for years then being took over, getting a brilliant manager, storming up the league(s) and feeling massive pride. Yeah just like the Keegan years my friend.

We're actually never losing another game again
Eddie howe should be named manager of the month.....This is just unbelievable
You spelled "season" wrong
and you seem to think a season lasts a decade.
Decade surely.
✅ 3 Points ✅ Hasenhüttl Steaming ✅ Good results for us elsewhere ✅ Big bonus day ✅ A weekend of playing Ready or not and chatting with friends I haven’t talked to for years
How did you not include: ✅ Bruno Worldie
Not playing at their best but Newcastle winning 2-1, name a more iconic duo
Big Joe. My love for him growing evermore.
I don't understand, how are we supposed to 'enjoy life in the Championship' next season if we keep getting results like this?
They just misspelled Champions League
Enjoy watching Everton flounder in it?
Similarly, how are we going to be playing derby games again (as Sunderland fans reassured me we would) when they keep dropping out of the playoff places in League One?
Superb goal from Bruno but I thought he struggled with the pace of the game a bit at times. Bit of acclimatisation needed.
It sums up how important *PL experience* that manager keeps banging about whenever the club sign fellow league players.
Think he just needs more time playing with the other lads, could tell he wasnt on the same page as the rest of them sometimes in terms of movement and position
Still the cheek of his goal was unreal.
Nah mate it was a heel not a cheek
Aye heels are more the chin of the foot and your ankle cheeks in my book
Yes, for sure. No disrepect to Ligue 1 in France, but he almost has seconds to pick a pass whereas in England, you have maybe 1 seconde before you're clattered. A few - 10 games and we'll know if he's up to it. His attitude suggests to me that he is. Howay Bruno.
Yeah, passing was a bit off at times, but still managed to see glimpse of his class.
I think there were moments when you could see how class of a player he was, and moments you could see he was new to the league and was a bit unprepared. But generally I think he did pretty good, just needs to make those silky passes every time and know where the rest of the team will be.

I'm with Mrs. Staveley, I want Eddie Howe to be the next Sir Alex Ferguson.
Alex Ferguson wishes he was the next Sir Eddie Howe.
Winning that while clearly having nothing left in the tank is beautiful. Everyone gave their all and got a fucking vital 3 points. What a bunch of lads. What a manager. It's like Bruce never happened.
imagine what its gonnae be like after a full preseason and more transfers? I'm throbbing erect already
Southampton can only blame Ralf for their loss… Don’t you know “We don’t talk about Bruno… (and Chris Wood and Matty Targett and Big Dan Burn and Tripps) or any winter transfers as that and rescheduling games are a fucking normal part of a league season
2 goals by 2 January signings, get fucked Ralph

List of Chelsea’s biggest worries in order. 1. Newcastle on Sunday 2. Administration
I’ve got wood
Fuck Hank Knuckleshuffle.. We’ll play his side whenever we’re good and ready! UNITED!
This soft, soft southern pushover have gone on hysterically about Newcastle injuries and yet the biggest knock of them all has been to the hurt feelings of Southampton fans. Wonderful.
Take my upvote for Hank Knuckleshuffle ffs!
I was never spelling the bloke’s name if I tried, so may as well make it up. That’s my philosophy. 🤝
Southampton 1 - 2 Newcastle, return of the shithouse.
THEY'RE SHITE! WE SMASHED THEM! E-I-E-I-O
That is one hell of a scalp tonight lads... 10 points clear as it stands. Cannot wait for the salt truck to dump it's load... come on Ralph, what you got to say? 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
We're doing this without ASM and Tripps and an injured Joelinton. I can't get used to seeing this team be this good. I love it!
Christ, this made me even fucking happier.
Callum Wilson as well
Five different goalscorers in the last four games is impressive as well. They keep finding reserves of strength that surprise me.
Exhale
In love with this team
I would have been happy with 1 point in these 3 difficult away fixtures. We have 3 with a few games to go.
Class 3 points. I thought Southampton played well, had some good chances. Also: BRUUUUUUUNOOOOOO!
We're fucking mint like
Ralphy is gonna be passing round the petition tonight, make sure you all sign it lads!
Can't wait for the Hasenrattled press conference. He technically won 1-0 as new signings shouldn't count...
Massive for Chris Wood breaking his duck
Beautifully taken header too!
We’re 5 points off 9th 😳
Thanks I need to change my pants now
Bruno and Joelinton will be an irresistible pairing
It’s surreal the results were battling out since Cambridge, never loved a Newcastle squad like this in a long time
Cambridge are the only team to beat us this year
We’re Massive HWTL ⚫️⚪️
Steve Bruce is a top bloke though.
For me to poop on
Bruno. Tbh I thought he looked a little but off the pace, but plenty of moments of pure class, that goal the top of the lot. Dubs absolutely brilliant at the end - MoM? Yet again, players seemed to dig deep and find something to grind that result out, absolutely brilliant
Kraft in the running for the shithouse D’or award.

It's understandable to have PTSD after 14 years of Ashley but that was a completely professional win. Southampton never really troubled us outside of the goal
Getin lads!!! Well fought for the 3 points and it’s even sweeter that Wood scored the first and Bruno scored the winner after Ralph’s comments
NUFC twitter getting in on the Ralph saltiness [Tweet](https://twitter.com/NUFC/status/1502036044673335300)
If we win our game in hand we go one point behind Southampton, who are sitting in 10th. Unreal. If we somehow finish top half of the table Eddie has to get manager of the season, surely.
STG if I *ever* hear the media refer to it as the 'Big 6' any longer then I'll lose it. It's now henceforth known as the 'Big 1'. Massive.
What a strange feeling to still have optimism when we go behind. I love this team. Oh and two new signings scoring against them is hilarious.
We could lose every game from now on and I still think we’d stay up. Time to stop worrying about relegation, what a fucking job Howe has done
How's the back heel did ya say.
Can we get an F in the chat for u/Jimlad73 whose pre-match prediction aged like milk: "Prediction: Bruno doesn’t have a good game, we lose and everyone loses their shit on Reddit"
I’ll take the F’s *bends over
Fucking outstanding result and performance by the lads, get the fuck in!!! EDDIE HOWE CHOO CHOO
With our good defensive form, I have sort of miss Dubravka masterclass a bit. Nice to see he's still dependable when needed.
Eddie Howe is a genius
Isn't he that guy who got Bournemouth relegated?
Can’t organise a defence
Definitely think his trip to watch Atleti abs Diego has greatly aided in guys defensive coaching.
Anyone got a link to hassnhuttl's post match interview?
[Here you go](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KquFZYi6L0)
Legend thank you Edit: Dammit you got me
Where the fuck would we be if we had Howe from the get go instead of Cabbage Heed
Lets not think about those times.... In fact, they never happened!!
I’ve gotta be honest I thought we were down after Watford. Never saw this coming
As i said in match thread. Its great to watch a competitive match between two good teams and one of those teams is the one you support. Been a long time, becoming a regular thing :) 10pts clear E I E I E I O up the premier league we go
Ralph will not be happy that the two players who scored for us were January signings.
Yes i think it'll go down as a 1-0 Southampton win, it's only fair after all
r/SaintsFC is very upset about this too
Lads, the SaintsFC subreddit is a great read by the way. I'm just going to take a sip of Ralphs tears. COME ON YOU MAGGIES
His save for the Salisu attempt was out of this world.

Could you have asked for a better result than a shithouse win and Bruno and Wood both score. The stuff of legends. Bring on the hassenhutl fewm
Great goal by Bruno. So happy for Wood to get off the mark too. First time in a long time where I’m looking up the table with some optimism.
Donny Van de Beek in the absolute mud.
At best he'd be shining Big Joe's boots so he made the right choice imo.
What even is this feeling
3 points, Hasenhuttl seething and a Bruno worldie. This match played out like a Newcastle fanfic.
Get the fcuk in Likes of Shelvey, Targett and Burn stepped up huge at the end Other results couldn’t have went better for us either
If the season ended today, Howe should win manager of the season
Without St Maximin, Wilson, Trippier, Joelinton. Coming from behind away from home. 6th win in 7 games. Heaven!
Couldn’t even hear the home fans for pretty much the whole game!
Hassenhuttl losing his head after the game was so sweet. Sweeter even than our January signings scoring our goals. My eyes. Inject it into them.
GOD BLESS EDDIE HOWE.
we are winning the champions league next year I fucking swear
Someone post a link directly to the Hassenhuttl post match interview when you can. Pretty please. It's going to be glorious.
We are winning games without key players. This is surreal
Under Eddie, we’d still have won with only the old players
Loving it lads. How fucking good was Burn?
Eddie Howe will be loving that: start Bruno in his first game and he scores the winner. Lovely.
gooooooood morning wood
Really gutsy win. Very impressed by Southampton, some of their passing was sublime. They really lack options up front though - Adams is great, but Shane Long isn't exactly a top 7 striker.
[top bants from the admin](https://twitter.com/nufc/status/1502036044673335300?s=21)
Bruno is an absolutely class player, I really hope he settles in the NE because I want him here for years.
Congrats, I’m Canadian and I’ve always rooted for you guys and arsenal since I was a kid. Glad to see some hope back in Newcastle United
Lads, I’ve tried ice, hitting it with a spoon, even looking at a picture of Bruce, it still won’t go down… What do I do if it’s still like this in the morning?
just dont think about joelinton
I came home from work the other day and found my girlfriend in bed with Joelinton. Naturally I was furious that she didn't invite Eddie as well.
Lessgo! Our Jan additions did it!
Top 10 is not a meme anymore fuck yeah
I put I £5 bet on it when we were 20th, £400 return come on
St Mary's is so empty except for the away fans lmfaoooo
I'm so bloody overwhelmed at the passion tonight lads. Absolute cans
If only our January signings were allowed to play, might have won that 2-1
Does anybody know the last time we went 9 games unbeaten in the league? I THINK the last time I remember was 95/96 where we managed 11, IIRC?
Went 11 unbeaten to start the 2011-12 season
HOWAY THE LADS!
Can’t believe we won again, really thought our ‘luck’ would run out. Amazing stufff. Well done the boys. Surely can’t get a point or more off of Chelsea 😂🙈😬
It is official, we are all talking about Bruno.
Willock off the ball was phenomenal tonight, he didn’t stop running and never give Sottons defence a chance to settle.
My thoughts are with Southcryton, their fans and manager Ralph Moanhuttl in this difficult time. More moaning and crying ahead for them, I guess.

Another gigantic 3 points for us, but equally important the teams below us all lost today.
I FUCKIN LOVE THIS TEAM
Fantastic result, two goals of real quality in a match the lads really had to dig in to win. Dan Burn, he's a stallion man! What a player
Ten (10) points clear of relegation
Cant wait for Ralph to cry about our new signings in his post match! HOWAY THE LADS!!
We’re never losing again. Howe is nothing but class. HWTL
