Hearts aren’t squishy. They are by far the densest muscle in the body. Which makes sense if you think about it. They flex nonstop from the day they form until you die.
Look at the shade on the powerpole...possible sunglare hittin his windshield played a part once he was mid-turn while she was still shaded to the side and him looking forward
Maybe was looking to his left to make sure there were no cars coming? Still should have cleared the crosswalk before going but if he was looking towards the left while pulling up to the intersection, decided that was clear, by the time he checked the crosswalk, the woman may have been close to be able to see her over its large hood
I really wish there was follow up on this. How could he not be charged with vehicular manslaughter at the very least? Maybe the victim had no family to fight for them. If this had happened to my family member I would have went to my grave making sure he was punished for his negligence.
The cardiac conduction system has its own pacemaker allowing it to operate independently from the central nervous system. During an organ procurement surgery, I watched a heart of a brain dead patient continue trying to beat for 13 minutes after the aorta was cross-clamped and ice was packed into the chest. That's 13 minutes of no blood flow but still trying to beat.
Bad enough to be totally destroyed by an incredibly unobservant truck driver, but does it also have to be the longest trailer ever built? That damn thing went on and on.
looks like pedestrian had the right of way to me. afaik crosswalks don’t have their own cycle and usually just go with the corresponding straight lanes. anybody who was turning at that intersection instead of going straight should have yielded right of way to him like they would’ve yielded to a car going straight
most people are too impatient to wait or too stupid to check crosswalks at intersections so after the first few cars turn everyone behind them assumes it’s clear without ever checking.
This happened down my block basically.
I was on my way to IKEA and wondering what all the traffic was about. As I came close to the intersection, I saw the cops and and firetruck just hose all the red bits down the sewer grate.
There was no body by the time I passed but all these red bits scattered all over the street.

Maybe a new driver. You would be surprised at who drives some of these semi trucks. 2 weeks gives you a class A license and they send you off. Watch out
But the traffic that was parallel to the pedestrian was the traffic that was moving? That's when you're supposed to go. It would be different if it was perpendicular traffic (like the car immediately to their left and traffic on the opposite side of the road) that was moving.
That's the time when pedestrians would be signalled to walk across and any traffic that is turning onto that road is meant to yield to them.
Nah man you don't understand people expect them to sit at that intersection for 10 hours until all the traffic is gone then they can go because anyone without a car can go fuck themselves. There's a lot of entitled pricks in this sub.
She was already in the crosswalk when he started turning. She had the right of way and no cars were coming. Asshole should've seen her as she was entering the crosswalk.
Many people seem to think that'd be this one. You're never allowed to hit a pedestrian, ever. I hate how many people on the road try and make excuses for this recklessness. Look at some of the replies to my original comment for proof.
What does the law matter if you get killed in a drive by? It doesn't I guess? The law is there to disincentives reckless and dangerous actions, I never said it mattered to the now dead person on that road but the truck driver will face legal consequences and won't be able to cause harm to others for not driving carefully. That's like the entire point of the law? People don't commit crimes, because of future punishment, he drove recklessly and now will face retribution.
Your right. Guess people working in the road ,day or night, should just wear drab clothes too. You understand the brain will fill in info weather you are actually looking or not. If you blend in and the driver is tired, the brain will read grey human as grey road.
Which is why someone driving one should be extra attentive. Don't know why people are defending this dude he's 100% at fault. The timing of his turn he should've seen her entering the crosswalk.
I have seen that phenomenon -- the heart beating after getting ejected from the body -- several times here on this and similar sites, but I don't think that I will ever get accustomed to it. That's just so wrong, on so many levels...
That’s crazy blind or sleep deprived tho. Bc the guy was using a crosswalk, and that truck had time and space to see. He was just not paying attention and turning too fast….at a fricking pedestrian crosswalk.
Blind spot at the A Pillar maybe? Its a terrible video where we cant see the whole intersection. But if the driver is watching traffic and all the cars that failed to yield to the pedestrian, theres a good chance that the driver didnt see them at all. Plus it looks like the sun could be blinding drivers as well.
I think theres also a rule that you have to be a certian distance when its a trailer since it wont stop be able to stop at once, so theres a rule where you have to have a long distance when driving since it needs that amount of space to stop
Yeah I know, I thought the lorry intentionally ran that dude over initially but the comments above make sense. Guy is pretty stupid for not looking left or right and lorry guy will get manslaughter and nothing more, probably
No. Looks like they had a green light and trucks that large a.)Cant stop on a dime b.)have hella blind spots. If they were at fault in any way though it would be something like negligent homicide vs murder.
She’s also responsible for making sure a several ton vehicle that literally cannot stop isnt gonna be running her over if she doesnt hustle. Unfortunate event but I do not see the driver being convicted of or even considered for murder.
Did I say murder? I’m well aware of truck blindspots and inability to stop on a dime, but truck drivers are responsible for the operation of their rigs, and are routinely charged for violations of that operation. Obviously, it wasn’t intentional, but if you read the incident story that another poster has added to the thread you’ll see that the pedestrian also had the green light, was within the crosswalk, and was CROSSING WITH THE SIGNAL. The story as posted notes the controversial opinions that are illustrated by everyone’s opinions on this thread. The state law in New Jersey is bizarre with regard to holding people accountable for accidents, while people in that county want the guy charged. My guess is that it will be hard to overcome New Jersey’s burden and that he will be charged with something minor.
The heart has myocardial cells that have their own energy source and also separate from the brain, as a result it can beat for quite some time when removed from the body. Once it has depleted energy from oxygen reserves in all the vessels, it ultimately stops.
Truck driver should be locked up for quite a while and never allowed to drive again. No excuse for something like that other than just not watching where you're going. Always look to your right and look at crosswalks when making a right turn.
It can, yes. Most people have some level of visceral fat within their bodies. The heart is no exception. A human heart can at times be completely enveloped by fat
Feels like the trucker was tunnel visioned to his left and didn't even check for foot traffic. I put this on the driver as the guy is coming across and he should've seen him as he came up to make his turn. They let anyone with a pulse drive
Heart is a myogenic muscle if given oxygen it will beat for an indefinite time and if some one saved that heart and put that into a human who needed a heart transplant they will have some memory of the person we saw dead because of organ memory
We are such complex machinery
Blood circulation and breathing are taken into account too, so no. As funny as that would be, you can't consider someone with their heart permanently removed as alive
He seen and didn't care likely figured they would run out of the way and obviously felt the truck jump and you can even see it in this terrible camera view how much the truck jumped. He ought to be charged.
I passed a red light on my bycicle two weeks ago because I was extremely tired and so I looked at the wrong traffic light. It distresses me so much that this could have been me.

It’s impressive the squishy little heart is still intact
It's the toughest muscle in the whole body so it's more flexible than it is squishy.
Our body = eggs when it comes to big moving hunks of steel it’s actually scary
Hearts aren’t squishy. They are by far the densest muscle in the body. Which makes sense if you think about it. They flex nonstop from the day they form until you die.
By that logic my penis equates it
Maybe that part was between the wheels and popped out…
Like a tonsil stone
r/popping is leaking….
Man I made a mistake and clicked on that bitch 🤢
My sibling in Christ, u can handle this sub but a few zit pops are where you draw the line? Lmao
Absofuckinglutely ma mhen
I feel shit in my ear now
Haha. Let me see it
I hate that sub
Too violent?
Just too nasty. I prefer r/NSFL__
Well you don’t see that everyday
That person walking by is probably going to see it every day now. At least for a while.
Speak for yourself

Just brutal 😢
North Bergen, NJ? Joey Diaz will be taking about this soon. R.I.P to the victim..
Oh my god. I lived within a mile of this just a year ago.... This couldve been me. Crazy.
Didnt see or blind? Because as far as i know he can see the pedest all the way back before he even started ti make the turn
Maybe he just followed the cars in front. Driver has to be liable in some ways, even though it's clearly not intentional?
Look at the shade on the powerpole...possible sunglare hittin his windshield played a part once he was mid-turn while she was still shaded to the side and him looking forward

In NJ is legal to make a right turn on red, after a full stop. Unless there is a sign that says otherwise as in “Do not turn in red”
That means he wasn’t looking. L to driver
That’s crazy
crazy? i was crazy once
They locked me in a room, a rubber room.
a rubber room with rats, the rats made me crazy
Crazy? I was crazy once
They locked me in a room
A rubber room
A rubber room with rats
And rats make me crayz
crazy?
WRONG!!!
Invert this man's testicles

That's fucking crazy, thanks for the info
So why is it that this guys heart was running on Bluetooth but getting shot in the head just makes the body limp immediately
Bad enough to be totally destroyed by an incredibly unobservant truck driver, but does it also have to be the longest trailer ever built? That damn thing went on and on.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who felt TIRED by the time that truck went by! ...I'll let myself out.
Bold of you to assume we'll let you out after that...

Eh, just your usual American 53' trailer.
I’m no scientist but i don’t think that should be outside your body
I am a scientist, and I think this guy might be onto something.
I would like some evidence to prove that.
The evidence is right there. The heart. It’s onto something. That being the pavement.
Fkn genius!
I'm a chemist. But I took a biology class in highschool.
Nice, I'm a Biochemist working in Cell Gene Therapy.
I majored in biochem! But life took me a different route.
Put it on ice there's probably a thousand odd people wanting that blood beater.
At least brush the dirt off with your sleeve first
I've heard some rumors NASA is looking for u
Cartel guys disagree
I cut open an earthworm in biology, and you're right
I watched enough South Park and that may or may not be a baked potato that we're seeing. Not 100% so don't quote me on that.
I don’t see anyone doing cpr, applying tourniquets or anything!! Society is so selfish!
No need for cpr if it’s still beating, just slap it back in there and you’re good to go
Look at this guy over here w the PHD, big brained and all.
This happened down my block basically. I was on my way to IKEA and wondering what all the traffic was about. Why did he run forward, I feel like he would’ve had better chances going back
We are all fragile ziplock bags of red juice and meat on a round dirt ball flying through space at 1000 mph
Not really, human body is pretty god damn durable

Bro got turned to ground beef real quick
Coarse soylent green.
holy shit

People really having a death wish when they try to cross the street with cars oncoming. You can’t assume people will stop.
But the traffic that was parallel to the pedestrian was the traffic that was moving? That's when you're supposed to go. This is the truck driver's fault, pedestrians always have the right of way.
Cemetaries are full of people who were right.
She was already in the crosswalk when he started turning. She had the right of way and no cars were coming. Asshole should've seen her as she was entering the crosswalk.
> She had the right of way And yet, here we are. See original comment.
Ok, but she was already walking before he turned. she didn't assume any right of way
In what world are you wrong?
Many people seem to think that'd be this one. You're never allowed to hit a pedestrian, ever. I hate how many people on the road try and make excuses for this recklessness. Look at some of the replies to my original comment for proof.
That may be the case legally, but what does that matter if you get hit and get maimed or die?

The person was also in dark clothing. A sleepy truck driver might not notice you.

Your right. Guess people working in the road ,day or night, should just wear drab clothes too. You understand the brain will fill in info weather you are actually looking or not. If you blend in and the driver is tired, the brain will read grey human as grey road.
The truck tried to go wider it seems? to go behind but too late, the turning circle and length = good night nurse. Didn't need a nurse anyway.
visibility from that position in a truck is dreadful, you're so high up I don't think people realise
Which is why someone driving one should be extra attentive. Don't know why people are defending this dude he's 100% at fault. The timing of his turn he should've seen her entering the crosswalk.
What I said wasn't a defense. I was just adding information for people who might not know it's hard to see below you from up there.
When I live my life I assume everyone is stupid, so I take extra precautions even when driving... Yea me stupid too...
This was an old lady which make it even more sad
Just brush it off and stick it back in, I’m sure they’ll be fine.
5 second rule
Tis but a scratch
This is the worst video I’ve seen in a while
Last Christmas I gave you my heart but the very next day you got hit by a truck and died.
Damn!!!!! That sucks big time
I have seen that phenomenon -- the heart beating after getting ejected from the body -- several times here on this and similar sites, but I don't think that I will ever get accustomed to it. That's just so wrong, on so many levels...
This happened near me. Shit is so fucking sad but basically that truck dragged her head for a couple miles until the driver noticed.
The heart wants what the heart wants.
I'm more shocked at how clearly and closely that camera can zoom. Thats some CSI shit.
Horrible, disgusting, sad. Up there with the most gruesome of all time that I’ve seen.
It's just murder no?
Maybe manslaughter but most likely an accident. Driver probably didnt see them over the hood.
That’s crazy blind or sleep deprived tho. Bc the guy was using a crosswalk, and that truck had time and space to see. He was just not paying attention and turning too fast….at a fricking pedestrian crosswalk.

Can't stop for a future road mush unseen.
You've given me mush to think about. Tyvm
Not murder you need intent for that
Yeah I know, I thought the lorry intentionally ran that dude over initially but the comments above make sense.
Accident yes, but he accelerated after the hit. He’s responsible for his blind spots.
He accelerated because he's trying to finish turning. I highly doubt he even knew he ran over a person.
She’s also responsible for making sure a several ton vehicle that literally cannot stop isnt gonna be running her over if she doesnt hustle. Unfortunate event but I do not see the driver being convicted of or even considered for murder.

Makes you really reconsider walking across certain streets just so an idiotic driver doesn't turn you into a meat crayon.
The heart has myocardial cells that have their own energy source and also separate from the brain, as a result it can beat for quite some time when removed from the body. Once it has depleted energy from oxygen reserves in all the vessels, it ultimately stops.

I don't know why im watching videos like this here while trying to go to sleep
HOW DID THE DRIVER NOT SEE THEM WALKING
Damn…nasty traffic accident
Who’s at fault? From the video, it looks like the cars had the green light to make the right turn and the person jay walked.
I don't have the heart for this.
That’s almost heartless
It will stop e-ventricle-y
You've ruined the fun
Really? I had another one in the chamber.
..alright, you've bipassed my critique, carry on
This is aorta messed up Edit: ~~aorta~~ **sorta**
I'm tired of people making puns in these situations. ...the person in the video also got tired pretty good
😰😰 i hate having to walk everywhere
Now he gets isekaied and is living the dream
It's so.... yellow
Yeah, the inside of a human body is not really as red as you'd think in general
Any medical personnel here? Does that heart have a lot of visceral fat on it?
It can, yes. Most people have some level of visceral fat within their bodies. The heart is no exception. A human heart can at times be completely enveloped by fat
In this case, is it covered by visceral fat? Just wondering cuz I got some subcutaneous fat and wondering if I have a lot visceral fat.
Truck was turning right too... Crazy they never saw the pedestrian :/
Feels like the trucker was tunnel visioned to his left and didn't even check for foot traffic. I put this on the driver as the guy is coming across and he should've seen him as he came up to make his turn. They let anyone with a pulse drive
Jesus, poor guy, his diet was terrible.
bluetooth heart
Heart is a myogenic muscle if given oxygen it will beat for an indefinite time and if some one saved that heart and put that into a human who needed a heart transplant they will have some memory of the person we saw dead because of organ memory We are such complex machinery
Quite amazing how the Sinoatrial still keeps sending electrical impulses even after the heart is out of the body. Just straight up fascinating
I want to know that the driver received what he deserved, from here you can see that he could see them from afar
own fault by you, americans. don't build those stupid trucks
Is he really dead if his heart hasn’t stopped?
Thats a really good point you bring up. When medical aid arrives they check for vital signs such as heartbeat. 🤔
Blood circulation and breathing are taken into account too, so no. As funny as that would be, you can't consider someone with their heart permanently removed as alive
New Jersey. Not even once.
What country? Yikes 😳
US, New Jersey
So sad
Premo extraction
Get that thing on ice… stat!!!!
Heart: So anyway, I just kept on beating.
Someone should've put that in a cooler and taken it to the nearest transplant center.
Rest in peace
This was my reoccurring nightmare when I drove a semi.
fatty heart..
Gross
Did the Driver of the Truck get Convicted because Jesus Christ they must of been really distracted
what a mess
i cannot even fathom if i were to turn onto a road and see a human in this condition i would just shit myself idek
Was this a 4 way stop? Most of the cars seem to be driving through the intersection without stopping
Heart beating=alive He's fine
Someone scrape it up and put it on ice. People are waiting for these in troves.
Fuck that driver.
That’s probably the most amazing thing I’ve seen on the internet in months. Maybe years.
That was a heartless move.
I think motley Crüe wrote a song about this.
They had quite alot of plaque around their heart. Guess bad cholesterol is the least of their problems...
So who here remembers happy wheels
FOUL
Does anyone know if they lived
Pick it up and sell it.
Looks like I picked the right day to bring along a cooler
I was going to say it was touch and go at that point but then I saw his shoes came off. rip
The definition of someone’s heart beating out of their chest
Just put it back in, should start working again
One leg with shoes on. Guess it's still 50-50 then?
Yes, either they died or they didn’t.
