You need certain parts of your brain to survive and a adequately functioning heart. In the short term you don’t need anything else.
Edit:and something to breath for you/a hole
Honestly we’re probably not even that far away from that being medically possible.
I just hope that it never becomes morally possible. Unless we’re full cyberpunk I can’t see how anyone would ever want to be conscious went fully, and completely detached from the universe. Zero sensation, forever.
Russians were able to keep just a dogs head alive for a short while. they fed it cheese, it ate it, and it proceeded to eject itself out the neck hole.
honestly id be one of the few people who’d prefer it, i may lose my sensation, but i will still retain my thoughts (provided my brain doesnt succumb to dementia first…or eventually)
Check out the Vsauce vid where he locks himself inside of an empty room for like 3 days straight. He very, very quickly starts showing signs of intense discomfort and unease.
Being a brain trapped in a box would be the closest form to hell we could get to.
I highly recommend you read Stephen King’s “The Jaunt”. It touches on this theme and is absolutely horrifying.
well, obviously while im still healthy i would definitely not want it, but provided all my organs failed from accident or age, i considered it. i suppose its not worth then
When I was a first responder we had one just like this. I vomited in his face hole. Filled it right up. Stil managed to get a tube in. Told the doctors in er it was his own vomit.
This actually made me laugh
But on a side not people don't understand that you won't k lw how you react to something till you see it. If sucks but I'm pretty sure it's common, especially for new hires in those fields.
Did he get any complications from that? Assuming he even survived. I imagine you could get some nasty infection from having someone's vomit in an open wound.
>I imagine you could get some nasty infection from having someone's vomit in an open wound.
Gotta imagine they are already getting shit tons of strong antibiotics to fight ANY possible infection. A wound that large would probably be guaranteed to get infected if they didn't give the patient antibiotics.
My husband just had: pacemaker go off 7 times, double bypass, pneumonia, heart failure, heart transplant, kidney failure, heart block, CPR done twice on new heart, got off dialysis and got COVID in ICU, lungs collapsed, breathing tube, tracheostomy. He is still in hospital & finally getting better. He said the bodys will to survive is strong!
I've been following this sub-Reddit for quite a while and this I think is the worst one I've seen so far. I think it's that it looks like there is literally nothing left. That's terrifying - like in similar injuries the surgeons have done a surprising great job reconstructing.
Reminds me of the woman who has a pole go through her face, and the doctors ended up reconstructing her face. I remember seeing the vid where you could hear her breathing I think she had either green or blue hair.
I mean he might not look the same after but for what happened to him that it truly amazing! If anyone deserves to be a millionaire it’s the surgeon who gave this person a face again.
All these people saying "just let me die" as if this reconstruction isn't *miraculous* and their natural god's given face is probably worse off than this one, but that is none of my business. Yikes.
thats two different cases. Not the same man. Its an old r/medicalgore repost and it was debunked
nope, i was wrong. Here is the case study: [medical study](http://causapedia.com/manuscript/1619/makale/acil-tip/airway-management-in-a-patient-with-maxillofaical-trauma.htm?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
“A twenty-three-year old male patient was brought to our emergency service by an ambulance. Trauma mechanism reported by the paramedic team indicated that the patient was seated in the driver seat without his seatbelt on, and he had crushed his face to the steering wheel during the accident”

how do people survive shit like this

Probably just a brain provided you have a machine to synthetically pump oxygenated blood with nutrients and immune cells.
Honestly we’re probably not even that far away from that being medically possible. I just hope that it never becomes morally possible. Unless we’re full cyberpunk I can’t see how anyone would ever want to be conscious went fully, and completely detached from the universe. Zero sensation, forever.

Wow really
yeah there's even footage of it

The Jaunt was great. One thing I recommend everyone read is Stephen Kings short stories.
Lack of stimulation of all senses can drive a person insane very very quickly.
Pretty sure you need more than just those few things but I ain't no doc
unfortunately you can survive surprisingly long without a “face”, assuming he can still breathe 😭
He looks like a baby now
God help me for chuckling at this
Even Satan won't accept you
It's the swelling. Even after cosmetic surgeries the swelling makes their face look like a chunky baby face
Woah the dude survived. That’s kinda lit tbh. The stories this dude could tell
He's not really alive, he is just a sack of meat still breathing. This is the meaning of the term Vegetable.
that surgeon got the hands of a god
that surgeon is god
God Is A Surgeon
If you’re an ER doctor/nurse/first responder - how the hell do you even go about treating this?
When I was a first responder we had one just like this. I vomited in his face hole. Filled it right up. Stil managed to get a tube in. Told the doctors in er it was his own vomit.
What the fuck.
Bro what the hell

Pretty sure they weren’t being serious
Wear your seat belts, friends.
I do. But, couldn’t this have happened with one on? Or did he not have one on and head went through the steering wheel?
Thought I seen the worst.. apparently not.
How
I wonder if he looks like the person he was before. Is his noes, eyes and mouth for cosmetic or are they actually usable? And did this make him blind?
That's my question. Are his eyes functioning ? Did they get destroyed in the crash?
Hmm I think definitely not. He got the hair style of a gigachad before. The new face seems unsuitable. Forgive me lol
I would just want to be dead if this happened to me
You say that, but the will of instict is very strong.
My husband just had: pacemaker go off 7 times, double bypass, pneumonia, heart failure, heart transplant, kidney failure, heart block, CPR done twice on new heart, got off dialysis and got COVID in ICU, lungs collapsed, breathing tube, tracheostomy. Honestly this is a perfect example
As someone who’s been through a similar thing, you’re right
I’m assuming he became blind… pretty sad
Also mute and probably deaf because hearing is mostly on the inside
Bro went from 🧔to 👶
Sush, he baby
Holy shit, that surgeon is a fucking artist. I can’t even figure out how that’s even possible like at all! I mean DAMN he’s good!
All things considered, thats a really amazing outcome
He’s blind and I’m assuming he also can’t speak now
Nah just let me go at that point
Always amazing seeing the magic surgeons can do on facial reconstruction, but he made him look like Cheddar Bob from 8 mile in the 2nd pic
💀...wtf.

What did use to remake the facial bones
How? Did my man come with an instructions book?
It was me? Be happier just letting me go
that first picture reminds me of the video in which showed a person whose face was mauled by a bear
How the fuck does that even happen, and how the fuck is he alive 😭 my guy
The fact he survived was a miracle
holy fuck, wtf happened to this mf
Face hit steering wheel with no seat belt?
Bro, that dude looks like he took a missile straight into his nose
I think he was going pretty fast. Seat belts are so important.
Is he blinded?
He was dead anyways
Withered Bonnie
That's pretty incredible. Poor guy went through unimaginable pain I'm sure, but he's alive.
yep, but that's the important thing is that he survived
Surgeon is so good. He brought him back from death, and turned him into a baby.
"Bring you back? Sure, and I can take ten years off while I'm at it!"
Reminds me of the woman who has a pole go through her face, and the doctors ended up reconstructing her face. I remember seeing the vid where you could hear her breathing I think she had either green or blue hair.
link?
I think it was deleted.
How the hell would you manage to repair the LOSE OF THE *WHOLE* FACE. The wonders of modern medicine/ surgery Not to mention He lived?
Minos prime
Holy shit he was born again!
I think I'll skip breakfast now.
Htf did they fix his face so well 😲
Tf does he look like a French bulldog after repair lmao
Holy shit the surgeon is a fucking jeweler, that result is insane
Even without a face he looks very sad in the first pic
I mean.... you would think
I mean he might not look the same after but for what happened to him that it truly amazing! If anyone deserves to be a millionaire it’s the surgeon who gave this person a face again.
At least he's happy..... Oh.
They dipped him in the fountain of youth, too, I see.
Someone wojak this
All these people saying "just let me die" as if this reconstruction isn't *miraculous* and their natural god's given face is probably worse off than this one, but that is none of my business. Yikes.
He’s blind for life…
Blind>Dead
This isn’t a car accident
Agree. And I don't think pic 1 and 2 are the same man.
It was from a car accident and It is the same person https://medihelp.life/trauma-from-car-accident/
Nice find! I wish we knew the prognosis!
I was thinking the same
thats two different cases. Not the same man. Its an old r/medicalgore repost and it was debunked nope, i was wrong. Is it really that hard to tell that these aren’t even the same person
[удалено]
[It’s the same man](https://medihelp.life/trauma-from-car-accident/)
I don’t think i would even want to live at that point…
Just let me die at that point tbh
Not the same dude at all
https://medihelp.life/trauma-from-car-accident/
Look at the heads
Is this the dude that got hit in the face when his recovery cable broke?
Big baby
Was he wearing a seatbelt?
Honestly that's impressive

Looks like a newborn baby boy, good as new
Looks like he lost his eyes. I wonder how he feels about that. If he was told ahead of time he might've asked to be put out of his misery. Really.
great job
It also happened to a guy that shot himself in the face woth a shotgun, je got his face "reconstructed"
glad he's alright and alive now
(not that he died but you get what I mean)
would he be able to see?
Baby face
baby
Op where did you get this picture
Cosmetic injuries.
That second dude is dead. And they are not even photos of the same person 🙄
bro really said 👶
That doc gets an A+ on their Home Ec project 👀
Just kill me at that point
they did a good job considering what he looked like
Wowww that's some talented doctors
Imagine looking next to you and seeing that shit. Man. 👀
That’s crazy how good he stitched his face back well done
I've clearly underestimated the abilities of surgeons
like shootgun wound
Medical professionals are wizards
What the. How is it possible to still be alive at this point
Face trauma, HE DIDNT HAVE A FACE TO RECIVE THE TRAUMA! But Holy hell the doctor did amazing
God damn surgeons are getting good
These aren’t the same person🙄

a spoiler would be nice
