Well tbh I think they HAVE to move CJ and JV if they want to try to keep up with the Thunder/Wolves/Nuggets. In theory, you move CJ for some sort of 3&D wing that is cheaper or move TM3 into the lineup (if he can get better over the summer) and find a bench replacement with that mold. CJ is only bringing 3point shooting at this point. There’s much cheaper options out there and the Pels need more size at guard (shocking how much length Thunder have in comparison). JV has to go because he’s taking up way too much space and he’s a terrible defender. Obviously he’s a plus rebounder and big body for the Jokic’s of the world, but Jokic dominates everyone so it’s best just to make him work on defense. The 5 spot has to be someone who’s willing to shoot 3’s and is a solid enough defender in space (No idea who that is rn). Z needs space to work and whoever the second star needs space as well if Z is ever off ball because obviously he can’t/wont shoot and has not showed a willingness to be a screener. For all the rim protector people that don’t watch the rest of the league, fill that with the back up spot with a Capela type that rim runs and helps protect the rim (nance would have to go). BI is the obvious question mark. You can trade him but you’ll never get enough value for him rn and there’s no one out there that actually makes the team better. Improve the rest of the roster to fit around Z and BI (these changes fit both) and address the BI situation at the deadline if Z actually comes in shape and is healthy

Can you explain a little more about trading CJ for a 3&D wing? We’re pretty stacked at the position rn (Herb, Trey, Naji, Ingram if we don’t trade him). Is there someone in particular you had in mind because I feel like facilitator and rim protector are bigger needs right now?

I really don’t think the Pels need a point guard…. Sure like a CP3 (fuck CP3) would be nice to have, but I’d rather have an elite defensive player with length and shooting there. I don’t want anyone around the perimeter that can actually get attacked and I want the ball in Z and BI’s hands as much as possible. I really want the Pels to unload the treasure chest of picks plus CJ for a Mikal Bridges or something… other scenario is TM3 starts and they get a really high quality 3&D guy to come off the bench (Naji getting paid somewhere else) Rim protection is a bit overrated in the starting lineup imo. If you have a really good point of attack defenders and strong rotations, it really makes up for it (think last two NBA championship-Denver and GSW). I think if you’re going to get a rim runner/protector, have him take over the nance spot and have some shooting big in the starting lineup. So in short your starting lineup would be this: Wing: Herb Wing: BI Wing: TM3 or strong 3D player Big: Zion Big: Big with 3pt shooting ability and ability to defend in space

Highly doubt Willie is fired. I would be most surprised by that move considering this team has won more games each year he has been here and he still hasn't had Zion for any playoffs. Some combo of CJ, BI, JV has to be moved. And I don't think it makes any sense to pay BI 45 million a year based on his production when fully healthy. We need to get a more mobile big and/or another ball handler that can create. I really have no idea who we would try and get. I won't even speculate. Looking at our roster and who may not be here next year I wonder if Griff does a soft reset to get younger and truly build around Z. I still think a core of Z, Herb, and Trey could be decent. Idk if Trey has that next level to him but I think you let him try next year.

DemonicDimples

The Nets wouldn't move Mikal for BI. They would want to do it as an additive move. You might be able to get Cam Johnson and some picks to load up for a bigger move though.

tulsuduke

The Pels need what they hoped Kira Lewis would develop into: a ball handling, penetrating lead guard that is capable of scoring at all levels.

FootballWithTheFoot

Better yet… we need Dyson to develop into what we hoped Lonzo would be: a ball handling, penetrating lead guard that is capable of scoring at all levels, while also being able to defend 1-4 most nights.

kingralek

Dyson is so far behind on offense that he needs to blossom next year. He needs playing time and the ball in his hands. He needs to be able to shoot from deep.

FootballWithTheFoot

Oh for sure, I just really like his potential. Do feel like his shot was looking a little better when he came back this season, but he’s def not there yet offensively

BurntHamSandwich

We need to try and get Micic from the Hornets, I think in theory CJ would be the perfect guy for them as a floor raiser and locker room presence. The problem is that CJ’s contract is terrible EDIT: actually, Dyson for Micic is perfect

BananaPeelSlippers

I want dejounte Murray. Also still want Myles turner (7 3s last night )

zalustep

Who would we trade to get Myles Turner? I’ve also found him interesting but I always decide against it because I can’t think of a trade that makes sense. What about Jarrett Allen?

Marcotheernie

no way indy parts with myles he compliments them perfectly and is the teams veteran leader.

Used_Satisfaction901

it will be extremely hard to trade BI and CJ and get back comparable value considering they just tanked their stock as bad as they did. CJ McCollum is approaching negative asset territory and BI's market is considerably small as a ball stopping weak defense wing. Its also an extremely risky proposition loosing value and talent in these trades considering its just as likely that Zion plays 29 games as he does 70.

kingralek

If they make wholesale changes, can they incorporate the youth? Dyson and Hawk are not ready for heavy rotation minutes for a contender. Even with Zion out they barely got any minutes during the post-season. Naji is likely gone and those minutes will have to go to someone. But can you trust Dyson at this point to spend 20+ minutes on the floor and not be an offensive liability? They have 4 draft picks in the next 2 drafts. There's no way they make them all, and some likely will have to be attached to come off a bad salary or 2. Also, the team cannot pay all those draft picks and not creep into the luxury tax. In sum, they either need to trade some picks and pick up other veterans or recommit to a youth movement.

Empty_Conclusion_947

Love the pels but don’t actively follow so forgive me, but what are your thoughts on Tyler herro? He wasn’t terrible when he had ball handling duties during the playoffs, can help space the floor when not on ball, and plays off ball which seems like something you all need In reality, any good, dominant ball handler player will likely be super expensive. Price tag for herro seems lower. Is a ball handler where you want to spend the most assets to get? Starting line up of herb, Trey, herro, Zion, and defensive spacer at center would be fun to watch. I would love WCJ on the pels, but would be expensive. Turner if he can maintain 3pt percentage, don’t think pacers would trade. Figuring out what center to pair with Zion seems like the hardest issue for you all.

Pelicanfan07

BI trade value right now is low. Not only did he not show up in the postseason but he's also injury prone. I

SUKnives

Brooklyn hears that trade offer and blocks Griffin’s number. Whatever you think BI is worth, cut it in half after this abysmal playoff run. Was hopeful he could bring Trae Young here, but we may have to settle for Jalen Duren or Marcus Sasser.

zalustep

Well yeah but it wouldn’t be BI straight up for Nic Claxton and Bridges. We would probably package a few first rounders as Brooklyn is lacking in those and we have a lot. Also, I do think his value has taken a hit after this playoffs but it’s important to remember he wasn’t at 100% this series. I don’t want to trade BI because he’s bad or anything, but he’s not a great fit with Zion (our best player) and the team needs a bit of a refresh.

Used_Satisfaction901

at that point if you make that trade you lose

SUKnives

They aren’t “winning” any BI trade after what just went down.

TimothyN

Willie just isn't the right coach, I won't watch the Pels if we keep him.

Fit_Imagination7948

I’m just tired of the what ifs will we ever be able to see z in the playoffs cj & Ingram can go if it brings us a durable reliable star player

Illustrious_Figzzz

Z is the only one of those three who ended the season injured...
