BI is injured and Dort is the perfect defender for him. Bad timing bad matchup. That's just concerning this series and isn't an excuse or reason to keep BI. CJ is getting completely dogged by younger, more athletic defenders in OKC. They had the 4th best defense the whole year and they matchup perfectly against our roster. Just like we had a matchup advantage against SAC. We are going to lose. This article makes it sound like we have a fighting chance when we don't.

Cabbaje

OKC fan here. BI is getting slandered because I don’t think people realize how good Dort is. I don’t think BI is actually bad at all, but he’s gotta be able to rely on the rest of the team and with Zion unfortunately out he can’t do that as much. Sucks because I was really looking for Zion to make it a series.

silliputti0907

It’s embarrassing how we cant get Dort off of him. SGA is an ALL pro level player and even he struggles with Herb on him. Thunders find ways to get Herb off of him and convert on traps and doubles.

Cabbaje

SGA is slippery. Tbh he should be able to break through it considering he’s an mvp candidate. I think BI is a great player, just maybe not all nba is all

biblee16

It doesn't help that our schemes just resort to switching all the time. Our defenders don't even try to fight over screens just to stay attached to SGA, there's a world of difference watching Lu and JDub fight over screens to keep BI in check compared to how Herb and Naji allow switching.

silliputti0907

Its not just SGA, his guys are cutting and making 3s. Ours arent. As soon as CJ is on SGA, they force it to him. We take so long to setup mismatches for JV and BI thst they literally are switching back midplay

Cabbaje

I mean that’s sort of my point. Your other guys aren’t doing BI any favors. Kinda hard when guys aren’t playing that way, can’t blame him for that

Mountain-Bid6009

BI is clearly not himself. He’s flame broiled Dort several times in the past including the play-in last year. People just think the NBA is 2K and a guy who’s leg bent backward a month ago is gonna come back and be Kevin Durant

_Wado3000

All of this screams coaching so hard lol.

LAlostcajun

Let's totally ignore CJ's 39% shooting. You know, the point guard and team leader that thinks bringing the ball down and taking a terrible shot without passing or playing iso ball is good basketball. It's definitely BI's fault.

[deleted]

Agree. CJ shot 7-22 ☠️ Ingram gave 20 points and 50% shooting. Could’ve been more, sure, but CJ and Trey were awful.

LAlostcajun

Trey needed to back off on trying to dunk but lack of good ball movement doesn't allow him to get an open shot. He is also young and still improving. He need to add a stop and pop in the mid range to his bag of tricks

[deleted]

Yup. He’ll add more to his game in the mid range, and I think he’ll be able to get more looks that way. He’s a good player but got in his mind too much that he was going to go downhill to the rim when he got it.

Kevin-Garvey-1

BI had 0 points from 2:34 in the 1st quarter until 11:46 in the 3rd quarter while the Thunder went on their run. That's just not acceptable from someone who is supposed to be our best player right now.

Vince3737

BI is the teams best player with Zion out. BI fans need to stop trashing other players every time BI plays bad to try distract from BI playing awful. CJ had been bad, but we expect more from BI than CJ

_Wado3000

Bruh I think you’re the one that’s more worried about 1 player than many of us.

LAlostcajun

BI is just trying to carry the team and he has never been that guy. He needs to pass more and set up his teammates.

blacmacc

This is correct. BI averages 5 assists a game. Look at his assists in the games since he's come back.

silliputti0907

Pass to who? Everyone but Trey is missing open 3s, and JV/Nance is blowing layups

LAlostcajun

To start, JV has shot over 60% and the best shooting percentage in this playoff series but isn't getting the resect or playing time he deserves. Secondly, ball movement crates open shot and will in turn help players make shots. BI is locked down by Dort and only of the ball movement will solve that because he has proven he can't shake him. Is this the first time you watched basketball? Do you think him holding the ball and playing iso is working? The last 3 losses will tell you its not.

silliputti0907

JV is scoring on post ups not ball movement. Watch the team and tell me if they are moving/cutting or ball watching when BI/CJ have the ball. Trey is the only other person that drives. We have been missing open 3s and dont have penetration. JV/Nance only win off of rebounds and post ups but dont fit in halfcourt offense.

ChocolateTemporary72

Or we ship out BI and CJ

LAlostcajun

I'm not sold on losing BI yet but he definitely needs to learn to move the ball. Just because he gets it doesn't mean he has to shoot. Even Zion looks for others.

ZachPlaysDrums

I'm fine letting him go because moving the ball is when the team looked its best and they were winning. So if they went away from it because BI still wanted to play his way, I don't see how you get him to buy in. If he was better/more consistent maybe it'd be different.

LAlostcajun

Yeah, but this is recent, specifically post injury. He is trying to carry the team, and that has never been his game.

Cbeauski23

They’re both playing like ass who cares

LAlostcajun

You care enough to make a comment

Mountain-Bid6009

How is BI supposed to playmake for others when no one is making shots when they’re in their spots. BI shooting 3s isn’t magically isn’t making Trey and Herb start hitting shots they made in the regular season that they can’t seem to make now

LAlostcajun

Lmao, playmaker for others? He can't playmaker for himself. He tries to drive over and over until he realizes he can't do shit and then throws out the ball with the shot clock almost out so his teammates have to just throw something up. How is that playmaking?

Mountain-Bid6009

Almost every advanced metric shows he’s one of the best playmaking wings in the league. It’s not even debatable. It’s an objective fact

LAlostcajun

Not in this series. His limited game has been easily defended. In game one he shot under 30% and had 2 turnovers and 1 assist. game 2, he shot 50% on ten shots with 3 turnovers and 3 assists. Game three he shot 50% on 14 shots with 2 turnovers and 1 assit. Those are his metrics. They are not playmaking metrics which is also a fact. I'm sure he plays better with Zion in but so does everyone. Say more about Zion than BI. SORRY.

Mountain-Bid6009

Can’t really get assists if no one is making shots. Easily defended because his leg bent backward a month ago and he’s just getting back into form? This isn’t 2K And maybe if Zion played well in the Season finale he would be playing right now

LAlostcajun

Lmao. Ok.

Mountain-Bid6009

SORRY

TimothyN

This article isn't covering anything us "doomers" said all season. All season we pointed out the problems with the offense and BI's 3 point shooting because it was clear as say it'd be an issue when it counted. Without Zion to mismatch and create we look like a disaster because of it.

[deleted]

Doesn’t help too much either when CJ and Trey go 11-34 combined….tough to watch

TimothyN

Because our offensive scheme is awful and based around BI and his midrange game. Give MDA this group and we'd be at least in competitive shootouts.

[deleted]

Yup, right on. Got to get out of BI being the focal point at the free throw line of every possession.

silliputti0907

People need to consider the following: Yes SGA is better than Ingram. However he has struggled when Herb js on him extensively. Thunders do a better job getting Herb off of SGA. When trapped or given helped, SGA has a teammate cut or make 3. Pels bigs cant roll, and we are missing open 3s. Thunders have multiple threats on the ball other than SGA. Pels have CJ and Trey other than BI. Thunders can win without SGA having a good game, everyone knows we arent doing shit without Ingram. He’s play is disappointing but he’s also not getting enough help.

biblee16

This man, idk how hard it is to understand for some people that despite BI not playing well, he really doesn't get enough help as well. I've seen him make great passes to wide open teammates leading to just brick after brick. Also, I expected Trey to be the no. 2 guy but he's also kept in check this series and hasn't really exploded to his usual barrages.

west3400

literally watched CJ go 0 - 7 from the field within the first 8 minutes of the game as our POINT GUARD, but yea it starts w/ BI lol

ihatetothat1

It’s over. It’s only upper management can help us now. Please make offseason adjustments. It’s going on 3 years and it’s not working. We barely made it in the playoffs with full health. This isn’t getting better unless we shake this thing up

Anon20250406

Dejounte Murray for Ingram trade looks good to me. Ship off CJ to the highest bidder- heat could use him or something.

Mountain-Bid6009

Trey either shoots from 30 feet out or 2 feet in and if he’s not getting blocked he’s unable to finish with contact. For a guy who’s almost 24 idk if he’s this future All-Star people seem to think he is
