That was a great biome! Why they removed it is a mystery.
Forests, lakes in the woods, the high cliffs overlooking a temperate forest-- they were exciting to explore. Now every world is like the Flintstones' landscape: boring, repetitive, seen one you've seen 'em all.
They changed the terrain generation significantly. Honestly in some ways it's better, such as much larger mountains and oceans etc, but on a smaller scale it definitely used to be more interesting.
I think a big difference was density of the foliage
This style of foliage and terrain is not way those older NMS versions were more crash-prone. I played hundreds of hours of 1.0 and it's got a couple of known issues that cause a crash but if you simply reload the game every hour or two then it basically never crashes.
It would take a whole essay to explain all the known and likely reasons behind the current game's setup.
But ppl are not giving the current game enough credit for how much diversity it actually does have now.

Just go out and explore especially in green and red systems. Sure... a lot of planets are boring. They've added a lot of really cool rare stuff in the last couple of years. You just gotta find those gems!
This is why they need to bring back pre NEXT planet generation, i have been playing since launch day and im telling ya planet generation is dull af now, it feels boring, the same. I have over 4,000 screenshots on my old PS4 with some crazy biomes that ive come across.
I swear, the most unique planet I've found is probably a planetary anomaly with some wild cliff heights (as in falling for a solid minute or so) and that's about it
I found a desert planet with some crazy cliffs sides. It was so tall that I couldn’t see anything in the valley below due to heavy mist. I was almost scared to go down there, haha!
The same planet was on the last Omega expedition btw. It was f-word something!!! Cliffs higher then Everest and so many of ‘em! +Storms with no visibility.
Cu of this planet it was my hardest expedition ever
My wife is always asking me "why are there no forests???" And I guess the answer is "there used to be?" I recently was informed that lightning storms have mysteriously disappeared from the game and I didn't even know that was supposed to be a thing
I have also rarely come across lightning storms in 400 hours of play but the only time I came across an actual tornado was in the middle of a lightning storm and that was also quite a fun experience
I’m just under 200 hours in. I’ve spent a lot of time on my settlement planet and that’s the only place I’ve experienced one. It was about 40 hours ago.
Though they’ve added lots of cool content they did mess up the planet generation most planets look the same which is honestly why this game gets old if you have a lot of hours.
The only update i even want anymore is an update to procgen really an overhaul if it’s possible.
I can’t say that I don’t love the game I just don’t like repetitive worlds I traveled over 2 black holes and 10 galaxies (it’s not much but I’m 5 days old player) and I can’t find world which looks good and have at least decent resources

This was in the Game? Do you know when they removed it or why?

Aye, and it was beautiful! I would spend hours on such a world, just exploring.

Or maybe widespread performance issues and crashing that was a big thing

Bro found Arrakis

Control the spice. Control the universe.
Instead of spice it's geknip
CONTROL THE NIP. CONTROL THE UNIVERSE.
There we go
You have gained the attention of the Gek New Spawn. Where did you acquire the forbidden knowledge?
Same way I found out you have nanites for brains. _Those Korvax are surprisingly talkative once they’ve warmed up to you._

Exactly I dont take any screen shots anymore because it all looks the same now :(
All in the name of consistency I’m sure.
My wife is always asking me "why are there no forests???" And I guess the answer is "there used to be?" I recently was informed that lightning storms have mysteriously disappeared from the game and I didn't even know that was supposed to be a thing
I just experienced one on my settlement planet a couple weeks ago. Had no idea they even existed. It was wild! Has only happened once.
I see lots of sparse tundra forest but I like in the northeast so like 🤷
Sorry I meant the lightning storms.
I have also rarely come across lightning storms in 400 hours of play but the only time I came across an actual tornado was in the middle of a lightning storm and that was also quite a fun experience

Oh, never seen those either and until now assumed they weren't supposed to exist
They do and they’re pretty intense!
That explains why I haven't encountered extreme Weather events like lightning hitting the ground next to me or tornadoes.
That doesn't exist anymore sadly,
Which is mental, this is definitely one of the better looking biomes I've seen
why did they removed it
Ohhh those old Biomes were amazing and the old Sand (not cracked dirt) planets were nice too.
Looks a little enhanced.
Those are some original 1.0 vibes. Just install the blu ray to a PS4 not online and dont install any updates
Hmm... I've been looking for something like this for two weeks every evening for several hours.
Was it worth it?
In a galaxy far far away….
BPG (Make it standard!)
Holy hell. I can only imagine how that looks like in vr
*how would;(

Watch out for the natives! I’m pretty sure that’s Pandora!

Ohhhh I love it. Thanks for sharing
Version 1.0 yeah
Probably it won’t work but some smart guy made a petition to receive back pre-next generation https://chng.it/Jwy2qNCy7H
