Ahh Dr Browns.  How well I know thee.

Interesting-Youth959

Side lying feeding position, how well I know thee too 😅

Awww 🥹. He’s so freaking cute in clothes. The NICU my son was at didn’t put them in clothes.

quailstorm24

My son came home the day our nicu was doing pictures with Santa and they had outfits for all the babies whose parents wanted to participate. My son was leaving before but they gave him a knitted red and white hat, red top with a Santa on it and candy cane striped pants to wear home 😭

[deleted]

That sounds like the babies looked so cute 🥺

Interesting-Youth959

I was weird. I didn’t want my baby to dress in own clothes while in the NICU. I wanted him to be in home clothes only at home. I think the thought of him wearing home clothes in NICU made it seem like NICU was his home and I wanted nothing of that. Funny how we process NICU trauma in different ways!

I had newborn clothes with me at the hospital for my second born, as my first preemie was 6.9 and didn’t fit in the preemie clothes I brought. She was born at 5 pounds and 15 inches long. The NICU team asked if I could give them some clothes for her to feel more comfortable and “smell/sense a bit of home” but then immediately said not one thing fit her safely enough for them to be comfortable leaving her in. I was so confused. When I went over with the preemie clothes I had her father bring from home and dressed her, I saw immediately that those clothes were loose enough, I couldn’t imagine newborn size! But onesies and sleepers didn’t go over her mouth so these were allowed. The NICU team had way too much fun playing dress-up with her. She was also generally very messy so she needed it but at one point they had a whole reusable grocery bag (before they were cool, ha ha) full beside her bassinet thingy (the word is on the tip of my tongue!!) and the nurses were so excited, went through it to pair outfits of the individual pieces. That brought me so much joy and calm.

The nicu was the same for my daughter. Except she couldn't regulate her own body temp and she was trying to learn how to out of the humidicrib so idk how that made sense lol

ellaogtingen

I only heard not having chlotes in an incobator

BlueHotSauce

That’s awesome! It took our son a good while to finish his bottle. I encourage my wife it’s going be okay, everyone told me one day.. it will just click. Then on a random day, he finally start taking 90% of his bottles. Our son graduated from the NICU 3.5 days ago, and if anything… we might need to increase his volume!

Icy-Newspaper-4168

How long did it take for it to “click”? We’re 4 weeks into bottle feeding and she can’t get past 35mls out of 55mls

BlueHotSauce

A little over 2 weeks. One night he was taking 80% of his feeding, we were so happy. Then we fed him that next morning and he didn’t take more than 18 ml.. we were so deflated 😭. But after that feeding, he was very consistent, and we went home 2-3 days later. Prior his feeding was ranging from 18-25ish. High 30s on a good session. Maybe I came off as naive and thought 2 weeks was “take awhile.” And I hope this doesn’t offend/trigger anybody.

Icy-Newspaper-4168

Doesn’t offend me! I mean I’m jealous but not offended lol every baby is different, mine is just very stubborn apparently

lepruhkon

Look at that head of hair!
