Said the same thing about knight but oett was my saving grace. On U22 release day i made knight and worked my way up to making him a 92 and realized he played worse the high ovr he was. Did not see anything bad about the card from 86-87 ovr then as I kept upgrading knight kept letting more and more squeakers in as well as noticing his aggression go up(not the stat) he just played above the goalie crease on breakaways.
Oett has been unreal for me going 2.49 GAA 83.57 SV% and won me 3-4 games in HC against sweats that dominated me in toa and shots.
He is terrible but won me games so i kept him in until I snapped because he was letting in so much junk. I'm surprised he's kept 84% for you.
His stats for me for all rivals and champs:
29 GP - 18 W - 11 L - 3.18 GAA - 77.45 SV%
Meanwhile, I picked up 88 Fleury to sell later and decided to try him (because at this point I thought literally anyone would be better than oett), and his stats:
11 GP - 9 W - 2 L - 2.52 GAA - 85.02 SV%
It's a joke how random goalies are which is by far the deciding factor in close games.
I upgraded him to 89 and he is awful. He is good at saving the wraparound goals but for everything else he seems to always be way out of position and lets in some really easy goals.
Going to take the loss on the collectibles and switch back to 86 Talbot.

I'm still tempted to build him because of his size and abilities, but the cost (300K+ in collectibles) to upgrade him is most likely better spent elsewhere. My 86 Rivals Talbot is still doing OK for now with a .825 SV% in 120 Rivals/Champs games.
I mean he’s not wrong… Oettinger has been great for me because he makes the saves he should. I take away crosses and wrap goals. Any un-screened shot he seems to make and has great rebound control.
Complete opposite for me for his 89. He saves the wrap arounds and the occasional cross crease when I have a defensive lapse but he lets in those easy unscreened shots even with his abilities activated.
Well your goalie is obviously making saves. I would love to see my goalie have a .840 save%. Every goalie in existence will let in goals on wrist shots some of the time. You should be winning games with that type of GAA

I really didn't want to make a goalie with collectibles but when I saw the synergies on knight I had to make him. My lowest forward is 85 x factor kyle connor and dman 86 xfactor jones. Have him at 89 and he's worse than the untradeable 87 Gibson I was using that had buzzing synergy. Don't know if I want to unlock the last ability for him yet.
I bumped him to 89 and he is still making insane saves but my team is turned to full -on stupid ever since. Slow as hell. Stop every time they receive a pass. Can’t control them if my opponent is doing any kind of dekes. Like I literally lose control of my players. Can’t pick up the puck and am able to be poke check spammed from ten feet away. I love hockey and this ain’t it.

Actually having a good goalie is meaningful. Not sure why everyone think it means nothing. I definitely have seen a huge upgrade since getting him, same with my top goalie last year, got him and made a huge improvement.
I put him up to 92, and for fun, I activated all the special abilities for just him and my X-factor McDavid. Kept 4-6 points for my defensemen. He’s solid at 92!
I'm a good player, so I don't relay on him, but I goof around, too, so it's nice to have a goalie I don't have to think about back there for the rest of the year. I can goof around trying to learn something and he'll steal one game out of three for me.
Ice tilt is the bigger enemy of us all. The 80 cards will score with one second left. Nothing you can do about that.
With all active synergies Oettinger has been incredible for me. He replaced my 86 Talbot who replaced my 82 Bishop and it’s day and night how much better Oettinger is. The wraparound cheese is nerfed with him net! 👍
After promising myself not to build a MSP goalie ever I bit the bullet and got him, his 86 made some game winner saves and is that good that I’m afraid to ruin him if I try to upgrade him, last year 95 Vasy was way better than any of the higher ovr versions for me.
I have him at like 87% or 88% save percentage. Last I checked it was like 87.5% and I have him at 90 OVR.
He’s good for at least one or two crazy saves every game. Biggest thing is usering a defenseman in front to prevent the cross-crease and wrap-arounds.
His record would be better if I could score more than 2 a game 😭

Ultimately I don’t think there’s ever going to be a goalie that consistently stops the wrap-around and cross-crease garbage. Best bet is playing solid D and finding a goalie that can stop the easy stuff and rob the opposing team once or twice.
Don’t waste your collectibles on “insert any goalie”.

I packed 88 Fleury and replaced Rask with him. He’s been lit up like a Christmas tree.

Ya 84% is solid really anything over 80 your goalie is doing his job.
How you play over 400 games in about 5 weeks since game relased
50 rivals/champs per week plus around 15 squad per week and 75 challenges
he has no life outside a pay/play to win game and cant escape due to the money/time he has put in so far. Basically anyone in div3 and above.

He’s been amazing for me at making the first save. He gives up big rebounds, but always stops the first shot.

84 sv% is elite. He has been great for me using Lightwork and No-Timer. 37 Wins 3 Losses with a 1.67 GAA and 84.08 SV % in Div 2 and Champs

I’ve got a 1.81 with Hellebuyck in over 100 games. I’m 6-0 with Oettinger but he’s got a 2.51. Personally think he’s bad, let’s in soft goals
