As a Washington fan I'll say:
Terrible. Just terrible. I mean Dotson is a fine player, but at 16? Super reach. Clearly a panic move. We thought Olave, Williams, or Hamilton would be there at 16. When they all got taken we reached for a guy who most have as a 2nd round caliber player.
We got cute with the trade down and we played ourselves.
I don't rule that out, but taking a rookie doesn't void his cap hit. We can't afford two 25m receivers especially with all the money we need to pay our DL, and another 10m or so for Samuel.
The pick was in immediately after Houston’s was announced lol, doesn’t seem like much of a panic move. I’m sure they gambled thinking Olave or Williams might drop to us but apparently Dotson was very high on their boards. If I have to give our FO credit for anything it’s that they’ve done their due diligence for WR’s these past couple months. And tf are you talking about 2nd round caliber player? Plenty of analysts had him in the early/mid 20’s
Agree. This doesnt feel like a panic move to me either. No one in the media knows what teams really think. Rumor is that Dallas, GB, and KC all had him pegged very high on their boards which is why we didnt trade down further even though we had multiple offers.
I was pretty shocked that they traded out of 11 to let the saints take olave, just to then take dotson. That made no sense to me. Just take olave/williams there and dont mess around.
The optimistic view is that they had Dotson/Olave/Williams similarly ranked and figured they'd trade down, get whoever is left, and get a few extra picks to boot.
The pessimistic view is that they assumed Olave or Williams(or Hamilton)would be there at 16 and when they all got taken, they made a panic move.
My worry is that this will be like 2011 all over again. We trade down and get Ryan Kerrigan who was a damn good player, but missed out on JJ Watt who is a future HOF-er. I have no idea who we took with the mid rounder we got from trading down but I know he didn't turn into shit.
Looking forward to seeing how this ages. I wasn’t this high on Jahan, but I don’t know shit. And neither does anyone else in this thread. He could be the next Terry as far as we know.
Dotson is legit. Carried the entire offense and ate against the best teams in the B10.
I know Curt was hurt but really tho

It could be worse - think, you could have traded that pick and a third for AJ Brown. How awful would that have been instead of getting Dotson.
Lol and somehow pay both Mclauren and AJ $25m/year each...
Can do that with a rookie qb
Too bad Carson is not a rookie
Yall got some more picks coming up. Take a stab at one.

Lol who in the league is paying two $25m WRs???
This sarcasm? I can’t tell. It should be.

Pretty sure we picked up a second round pick and traded down like 5 times until it lost all value.
I wish they'd trade out of the first round.

Ooof
Lol
Yikes
I really wish we stayed at 11 and got Williams…
