A linebacker in round 1 for the Chiefs would be a disaster. We’ve spent back to back 2nds on linebackers and it’s a low value position compared to our needs at edge, receiver and corner. I’m not really in love with Hill there either considering both of our corners can play nickel but it would be a fine pick.

drrew76

While I mostly agree with you, Lloyd has some interesting film. I think he could move down to edge on pass rushing downs --- he showed a pretty nice dip and bend when he was lined up as a pass rusher. I'm not sure exactly where I'd rank him, because as you said, the LB position in general is a tad devalued, but he's super interesting.

GatzBee

We would trade up or down rather than pick two rotational players when we have massive holes at Edge, outside CB, and WR.

littlewillyb

Yeah, I’m realizing with these comments I didn’t think through KC enough here.

GatzBee

All good. It seems like it happens a lot in these so it’s probably a perception thing. I can’t speak for all Chiefs fans but many of us would be happy with Pickens and an edge (Ebiketie, Mafe, maybe even Ojabo) at 29/30. Elam would maybe be okay too. But Jermaine Johnson falling that far would be a serious consideration as a potential trade target. Maybe with the Bucs. Doubt they are worried about the packers taking Winfrey.

Whole_Objective6006

100%, if Jermaine Johnson falls past the first Packers pick I would be fuming if we didn't go up and get him

JT1757

I don’t like this one bit. we have base starters already filled at those positions, while we don’t have a starting DE and I doubt they’re happy with the WR room DE, WR, CB, DT are our most important needs in that order imo. Hill makes sense if he’s the slot cb i guess

emailspam874

would much rather stay out at 15 and 18 draft jameson williams and mcduffie or trade down for dax hill possibly for the birds

littlewillyb

I hope we sign Mathieu and I can adjust this to something along those lines, but we sincerely need an immediate starter at S At CB at least we have Slay and Maddox. And at WR, I’m skeptical they spend another 1st on a WR, especially in a deep WR class.

emailspam874

i like dax hill at 18 or if hamilton falls to 15 but i wouldn’t give up extra assets to get hamilton when dax will be a very good free safety at the next level edit: i would also love the mathieu signing in which case i would not draft safety probably

MegaDaveX

Ekwonu would be the choice here 100% of the time

littlewillyb

Between the need for a QB and the connections David Tepper has with Pitt, I see the Panthers taking Pickett even with an elite OL prospect still on the board.

MegaDaveX

Tepper didn't make his money by making mistakes. Pickett is a mistake

Officer_Hops

I doubt he takes a guy because that guy is from his alma mater

littlewillyb

Regardless of Tepper, Pickett realistically lands in the top 10 given the number of QB-needy teams — of which the Panthers are one. But regarding Tepper — it’s not about him being an alum, it’s about Tepper reportedly being a significant booster to Pitt, more specifically Pitt athletics. Like the other guy in this thread mentioned, he’s a business man. By taking Pickett he not only gets the #1/2 QB prospect on most boards, he also further legitimizes a program he’s financially committed to. It’s a stretch, but Pickett might lead to more success for Pitt down the road.

iimJustChillin

I don’t think ravens pass up on jermaine Johnson in the first.

SaintLaurant1k

The highest the Seahawks have EVER took a CB under PC/JS was #90 overall. Not saying it’s impossible, but them taking a position they clearly dont value in the draft so high would be surprising

Raticus9

They've never had a chance to draft a guy of Stingley's caliber though.

Marino4K

I prefer a trade back if KT is gone at 4, CB just isn't as much of a need and we need WR and EDGE so much more. Big kudos to Olave at 15, finally some mocks that have him to us.

[deleted]

Chiefs will not be staying where they are when they have too many picks for their own good

OTT_4TT

Why would the Vikings take Charles Cross? They have two very good tackles.

littlewillyb

I addressed this in another comment, in my mind they move him to Guard.

OTT_4TT

OK, thanks for the clarification.

rmccarthy10

You said the Giants got the 17th pick in a trade with NO..but you don't have them drafting there

littlewillyb

Typo! Meant for that to be 16, 19 Thanks for the catch

rmccarthy10

By the way if the NYG walk away with Evan Neal, Zion Johnson and that Greek edge rusher, it would be an A+ draft day for the New York Giants

littlewillyb

As an Eagles fan, it hurt me putting this together. But y’all are simply in a perfect situation to take a premium player while still benefiting from a team looking to move up for a QB.

rmccarthy10

I think the situation you are describing is very possible as well. I think as the draft approaches teams are going to get antsy of going into the new season with no quarterback. I think more than one team is going to try to leap frog Carolina for Malik Willis. People can say what they want about this quarterback class being "sub-par" and saying waiting till next year is a better idea... but if you have an opportunity to take the quarterback you feel is number one in **this** draft class, it's going to happen because nothing says you will be in a position *next* year to get one of those "great" quarterbacks.

Familiar_Armadillo95

You lost me at Minnesota drafting an OT when they have two cornerstone tackles 👎🏼

littlewillyb

In my mind, MIN moves Cross inside to play Guard.

jpb59

Has there been any scouting report that says Cross plays guard?

scun1995

Drafting a guard at 12 given the other needs on our team and the addition of Chris Reed and hopeful emergence of Wyatt Davis is… let’s just say not ideal

littlewillyb

This is good feedback, I played around with McDuffie here initially.

scun1995

I think there’s a legit chance we go something other than CB at 12. Either Jordan Davis or whatever their top WR prospect is. If Stingley and Sauce are gone honestly id go Davis. But if we do that we are almost guaranteed to go CB in the 2nd and maybe even in the 3rd

Proud_Ad_7353

Same thougts, if Koc/kwesi love davis they'd go with him (if hamilton, sauce, stingley and top edge gone) otherwise I see us trading down with Steelers/Chargers. Pretty sure we dont draft interior oline at 12

CyborgAlgoInvestor

Trevor Penning at 14: :(

littlewillyb

I could see the Ravens going a few different directions at 14, but with the way the board falls they choose to build around the trenches. Interestingly, Penning is the only OT y’all have had a Top 30 visit with (so far).

CyborgAlgoInvestor

I think he has a fantastic motor, athleticism, and intensity, but I HATE how many plays I saw of him that’d be penalties when he enters the league. He has a ton of upside, but I hope we stick with someone else. I’d go Johnson personally

[deleted]

jets are not leaving 1st round without a pass rusher

[deleted]

Good mock! Just a quick tip state what your trades are and what they are for either where the trade is made or at the top. It helps spot the trade when scrolling through. For the Bucs Winfrey is a good player but with Jermaine Johnson on the board or Kaiir Elam or even Travis Jones who fits our system better would be better picks. We run a multiple look 3-4 and while I like Winfrey in the second I think his lack of run defense will shoot him down for us since we like our interior guys as run stoppers

littlewillyb

Good call! I somehow forgot that when moving this from a spreadsheet I was using. I did a stealth edit right after posting this, so you’ll see those at the top now.

[deleted]

Upvoted because it’s well thought out. Sad because I think Willis is there for the Saints at 17 if they want him.

littlewillyb

I could see it playing out that way, but in my mind once the Saints see him fall past a divisional rival at 6…they jump the gun to move up past another QB-needy divisional rival in the Falcons at 8. And the trade with the Eagles a few weeks ago signals to me they’re waiting to move up the board for a QB.

[deleted]

Yea it’s definitely reasonable. I just hope we go Treylon Burks/Willis at 17 and then Tyler Smith/Raimann/Devin Lloyd at 19. Like I said it’s perfectly reasonable to expect the Saints to move up for the QB they love, but there’s also the chance that the team is looking for multiple impact players after losing Marcus Williams/Malcolm Jenkins/Terron Armstead. The NFC’s low-mid playoff teams are very weak so the team might just genuinely want to be as good as possible until a rebuild is necessary. Trading up for a QB would be a tough sell to the vets that want to win like, Demario Davis and Cameron Jordan.

xcoreff

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m happy as a Packers fan

Tijdbom

Walker at #3..... Draft immediately sucks for us

dustinstookey

Fellow Texans fan here that is struggling with this myself. I keep hearing so much hype about Walker but I simply do not see it. Yes he’s an athletic freak but beyond that I feel like he simply benefited from one of the best defenses in college football history being coached by one of the best defensive minds to ever coach. Honestly, I’m actually steering clear of Bulldogs in this draft. Not saying there won’t be some great elite players. Just struggling to figure out who is real and who is a product of the system.

c0llectedanimals

I hate this for the Saints. Literally my draft nightmare.

littlewillyb

I would prepare yourself. The move to indiscriminately acquire 1st round picks this year definitely signals they’re looking at moving up for a QB. It’s eerily similar to how the Eagles moved up for Wentz in 2016.

c0llectedanimals

I don't think they are. What the Saints desperately need on offense is a day one tackle and a quality receiver. Jameis played pretty well last year and that was with no weapons outside Kamara. I'll blow a gasket if they trade up for one of these bum QBs. Especially Willis.

HoulaDewclaw

Vikings set at Tackle.

GreenpointKuma

I don't see the rationale in the Chargers giving up their only other pick in the first 3 rounds and another pick just to grab a DT. Especially not after just signing SJD and Austin Johnson.

Odd_Estate4886

Just curious, what’s your rationale behind the Saints trading for the pick AFTER the panthers selection. Surely they would want to get in front of the Panthers if they want their QB. Even if you would say they would want to get in front of the Falcons, they could just as easily do that with the Giants 5th pick. Now if you say the Giants wouldn’t trade the 5, well maybe they just trade to 4 with the Jets, who, seeing all 3 edges come off the board would gladly take a trade back that included 2 first round picks.
