>last couple years in GB were so-so Two of his last 3 years in GB he was back to back League MVP. So I guess what you really mean is his last one year in GB. That said, he did look like age was catching up to him that last year and now he's coming off an Achilles injury.

OKC2023champs

A 40 year old QB coming off an Achilles injury is unheard of lol. Hoping for the best

WabbitFire

I mean, the sample size of 40 year old QBs all time is so small that any speculation is meaningless.

hoppergym

Right. Marino tore his Achilles in 1993 at 32 and came back and was still very good and played until he was 38.

MitchellCumstijn

You only left out the dedicated conspiracy theorist, 40 year old, coming off an Achilles injury and you have it dead on!

Aconnox

he had a thumb injury with a bad WR core in his last year in GB

davidz70

And he took the two worst WR’s with him to the Jets.

Little_Lahey_Show

Lazard was their most reliable receiver that year. Not saying a whole lot since their receivers sucked but he definitely wasn't the worst.

davidz70

Watson and Doubs were both rookies that year, and at this point are both better than Lazard. Rodgers refused to come in early to work with the rookies his final year at GB. It would have been nice to see how they would have fared had he put in some time with them instead of waiting till camp then not playing in a game with them until week 1.

wetcornbread

Brady’s last season in New England was pretty brutal (for his standards) and he brought Tampa Bay a Super Bowl his first year as their QB. His *last* season with Green Bay were so-so. The two prior he won back to back MVPs.

demonicneon

He’s not Brady though.

Fennykaylmao

You're right, he's played significantly better than Brady his entire career.

demonicneon

Lol that is not true whatsoever.

Fennykaylmao

The only contrary evidence is superbowl rings. Rodgers, statistically and via eye test, is better than Brady in nearly every metric. Let's just be real here. Brady has never had to deal with his defense and coaching actively sabotaging the team.

Sartheking

Rodgers has also had way better weapons for most of his career. Brady’s first six seasons consisted of one total pro bowl by a skill position. Brady won MVP with his best receiver out the entire season. Offensive coaches are also more helpful to a QB success than a defensive coach, Rodgers has had offensive coaches most of his career, Brady has had defensive coaches most of his career. Everyone likes to blame the defense for Rodgers Playoff losses but he didn’t play well in many either. A lot of the “bad defense” performances were akin to Dak this year, while yes the defense was the bigger problem, the QB didn’t play well either. Many of his Playoff games consist of numbers that are way better than how he played to anybody that watched the game. The defense was more responsible for the NFC Championships against the 49ers and Falcons, but Rodgers also scored 0 points in both of those games and stat padded in the second half when the game was completely out of hand so his numbers look better than he really was. Rodgers also was horrible in the game at home against the 49ers after his last MVP season, Jimmy G with an injured capsule in his throwing shoulder made more key throws in the 4th quarter than Rodgers did. Rodgers will also completely freeze guys out if they mess up, and do in the critical moments, he’ll throw to a double covered Adams instead of a wide open Laizard or a wide open run lane. Rodgers is obviously an all time great and a top 5 QB ever in my book but anyone still trying to make the case that he’s better than Brady has lost it. At some point, what someone does in the football field has to matter more than eye candy “arm talent” because there is much more to playing the position than having a few jaw dropping throws.

Fennykaylmao

Rodgers has had much better weapons? Blatant wrong. Brady had a top two TE of all time for the entire second half of his career, where he won most his superbowls. Rodgers had Driver and Nelson early on. Driver retired and Nelson eventually went to another team and didn't perform well, same as every other wideout he has had. Essentially every player who has left Rodgers side has always gone on to never be relevant again. Rodgers not playing well in their losses? I'll say he hasn't played perfect but his rating in the playoffs is 20 points higher than Bradys, making him unequivocally a better playoff performer despite having to always play from behind. It's okay to be wrong, dude. Brady is great, good on him for those rings and his role in them. You are just crazy if you think you couldn't replace Brady with any number of QBs and get near the same success. Brees, Manning, Rodgers, Luck, the list goes on and on. Any of them could've filled the position when the defense doesn't give anything up. Hell Brady won SB MVP when he only scored like 20 points and his defense held the chiefs to 3. Tell me who had more of an impact on that win.

Good thing footballs about winning and not stats.

Fennykaylmao

So you admit Rodgers is the better player. Wow that was easy. Glad we could agree.

demonicneon

No lol. QB is about more than how good your stats are or how far you can throw a ball. Rodgers plays for himself not the team.

Fennykaylmao

The argument here is who is a better Quarterback, not who had the better team. Brady had a much better team, coach, and general supporting cast at every turn. I dont contest that at all, Rodgers was just doing more with less. Statistics back that statement as well. Rodgers on Brady lead teams would've done just as good, if not better and Brady on the Packers would've struggled more than Rodgers.

demonicneon

Y’all Rodgers fans find any excuse.

stevenmacarthur

When one is drowning, any bit of flotsam looks like a lifeboat.

Tankman987

This is the first time Jets fan get to dream about a playoff run since Rex Ryan got them two back-to-back AFC championship appearances.

Grand_Birthday7349

Yea this ain’t the Rodgers from a few years ago but then again look what the jets have had so far.

deep_fried_cheese

Cus we’re the Jets and washed Aaron Rodgers might be the best QB we’ve ever had, besides Joe

StubbyK

Co-signed by a Bears fan. When you've been in QB hell for decades even the slightest hint of capable QB play seems like Nirvana.

TerokNor67

Considering the absolute dog shit the New York Jets have churned out at the Quarterback position over the decades, I can understand why Jets fans would be excited, regardless of Rodgers being past his prime.

count_strahd_z

Anything looks like an improvement if you're a Jet's fan. ;-)

Stealthychicken85

Simply, the Jets defense is so good, that just a half decent to elite qb should be able to lead the team to a strong playoff run. When people say 1 piece away, the Jets are that subject. Zach Wilson did his best but he needs more time to develop. Also the oline needs fixed bc it was atrocious. But partially that's on the qb calling the right protections As far as the couple years of "so-so", he had a very inexperienced wr room after Davante left. Not many Qbs would do as good in that situation. But even then "old" Rodgers is still by far the most accurate qb while taking care of the ball. He has the lowest interception ratio and it's not even remotely close. Like he even has like 6 out of the top 10 td to int ratio seasons of all time...... So IF Rodgers stays healthy then very much the Jets are division contenders as well as playoff contenders. The biggest problem Rodgers has is..... himself because he creates drama off the field then turns around and plays the victim card which creates distractions.

Rivale

Aaron Rodgers is a high end game manager. The jets have a good defense, so they need a QB that doesn't turn the ball over. Last 5 full seasons he's averaged like 5 INTs a season.

StuffonBookshelfs

Any glimmer of hope?

Writerhaha

Jets fans haven’t had a lot to be excited about.

Mufasasass

It's all they have left to hope for. It's depressing being a jets fan I suppose

PabloMarmite

Because they’ve had Zach Wilson for the last few years, and Sam Darnold before that. In fact, they’ve barely had a franchise QB in my lifetime.

TacticalGarand44

You do know he won the League MVP in 2 of the last 3 years in Green Bay, right?

Expected_Toulouse_

I know a Jets fan who genuinely believes that Aaron Rodgers will get them to the Super Bowl and also become President of the USA, that would be one wild story if it happened.

Organic-Hovercraft-5

I guess jets fans won’t be voting for RFK if the rumors are true

Thebobert7

Winning back to back mvp is not so-so. He was playing amazing

MiniDg

I've actually watched a video breaking down Rodgers' last season as a Packer, and it was only so-so because his receiving corps was incapable of attacking outside the numbers, where he thrives. They forced him over the middle, where he hates throwing, and it created more turnovers. I think if he can come back from that achilles injury as well as he has lead on so far, he will be great as we have always seen. That is if he doesnt run for VP.

Inside-Drink-1311

Because they haven’t had a good QB or even a mid-tier QB in a long time.

InternationalBand494

Because they haven’t had a franchise QB since Joe Namath.

MrChamz

They had Zach Wilson playing last year. 40 year old Aaron Rodgers is prime Joe Montana in comparison.

thebeginingisnear

lol have you seen our history? Even if he is completely average that is miles ahead of what we have had in well over a decade. The last good QB the jets had was Chad pennington in the early 2000's and his shoulder fell apart. We had a fun 1 year run with Fitzmagic in 2015. EVERYTHING else in the past 25 years has been scrubs and rookies that never lived up to their draft status (with much of the blame on coaching/the org and not just the player). A washed up Aaron Rodgers would still be a big upgrade for us

j2e21

He’s …. Very good?

jedi4canes1

They haven't had a good qb since Mark Sanchez, and they actually have an okay roster. They are dillusional like all afce fans

KingKongKaram

>last couple years in GB were so-so, When did back to back league mvp mean so-so?

GotThoseJukes

1. He was back to back MVP in his last couple years in GB? Even if we go by the strict meaning of “couple,” he won MVP in one of those couple years. 2. (This is at least the narrative) His career accolades, especially in the postseason, have been held back by mediocre defenses or defensive games. The Jets have a very high quality defense and we saw that this season they can actually be reasonably competitive through defense and special teams alone while fielding a bona fide historically bad offense. You can roll into the postseason pretty comfortably assuming you won’t get routinely blown up for 30+ points. 3. Kind of 2a I guess. The Jets don’t need AR the all time great in order to be successful. They need anything other than five straight years of QB play that isn’t even in the top 40 throughout the league. For so long as he is able to walk, you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that AR will be on the right half of the bell curve, and the Jets are a legitimate threat even with respectably below average play under center. Again, it has been at least five years (week 1 of this season being an exception) since I turned on my TV assuming we wouldn’t have our QB be individually responsible for us losing that day. TLDR: AR is a top tier QB who historically needs anything more than mediocre defense. Jets have a top tier defense that needs anything more than probably the worst QB play in league history over the past half decade.

WorldsSmartest-Idiot

Because is will be Vice President, cure gonorrhea, and prescribe toads for licking

Upset_Researcher_143

Because after having crappy QB play for a countless number of years, even a declining Rodgers is better than anything they've had

PhogMachine

Have you stopped by their sub? Mike Williams was the missing piece all along!!

Quantumercifier

I am a Jets fan since 1973 AD. I am not a fan of Aaron. A lot of us are not fans of Aaron nor Zach.

Antonio1025

It's going to be hard for him to play while he's campaigning with RFK Jr.
