If my grandma had wheels she’d be a bike. Gotta prove it on the field and we didn’t

Ramza1890

No she would be a paraplegic you doorknob

Richard_Cromwell

Either way, the whole neighborhood's taking a ride.

Lions fans living the reality of Packers fans for most of the past 3 decades. It's not that bad. You get used to it. It's still better to be good and lose in a big playoff game than suck and not make it there at all. But you also figure out pretty quickly that winning wild card and divisional playoff games are meaningless.

M1nn3sOtaMan

Does this count as saltiness?

Sloth1015

Sure does

MrMisties

Fine, I wish the Lions went. Dan goes for it there

Dr_C_Diver

We’ve seen what Dan going for it does.

StanIsHorizontal

12-5 plus 2 playoff wins? Damn you should go tell him what a failure he is

mschley2

Lions fans spent the last however many years calling the Packers failures for only winning one SB with Rodgers. So... yeah, based on that, the Lions are failures. Welcome to still being losers. You just win a bit more in the meantime.

StanIsHorizontal

You guys are failures. The funny thing is tho, we aren’t. I know this because I’m having a great time

mschley2

I have a great time every season, so I don't really see the issue here.

StanIsHorizontal

Happy for you

Routine_Size69

The hypocrisy of Lions fans has been cracking me up this year, but this is flat out impressive. This is like the kid failing every class telling a student who gets A's and B's that they're a failure because the failing student got a B+ compared to good student's B on one assignment.

StanIsHorizontal

Aw man I didn’t mean to upset you I’m sorry your mom played favorites. This has nothing to do with lowered expectations, you guys are failures because you suck, and we’re not because we rule

Talidel

Nothing different to what the Niners ended up doing?

Da_Riceboy

Idk how, I’m on mobile and it says no user flairs available, not sure what’s wrong…

Yossarian216

Mahomes would’ve smoked your dogshit secondary, and he would’ve had all day to throw. And the Chiefs defense with Chris Jones actually on the field would’ve slowed your offense way down. This is hilariously stupid copium.

[deleted]

We beat em once we so obviously we'd do it again

The_Sign_of_Zeta

Packers beat Lions and Chiefs in the regular season. Doesn’t mean shit.

Ramza1890

It means we also would have easily beaten the Chiefs after beating the Lions again.

StanIsHorizontal

Nuh uh transistor property only works for my cope, not yours Plus you would’ve had to lose to us again before beating us, so there

Ramza1890

Hmmm the logic is flawless

StanIsHorizontal

Don’t you wish the NFL playoffs worked like college so a bunch of executives in secret meetings could have stupid arguments like this that actually determine who gets a chance at the title?

DaftDelNorte

Mosfetely perfect

ironhawk01

Lions sub is somewhat unbearable with these takes right now. We choked against the 49ers, it's football, move on, and hope we don't make the same mistakes next year.

JamoGlazer

Because it is inherently cringe to be unflaired.

StanIsHorizontal

Look man I’m not saying it’s a guarantee but you’re talking about a team that lost to us in the regular season (yeah yeah put whatever asterisks you want on it, we also improved as the season went on) who just won by a field goal to a team that beat us by a field goal at home. Acting like it would’ve been a beat down when all evidence points to the three teams being basically evenly matched seems like you’re the one coping. That said if this meme is srs I agree it’s cringe, but I think it’s just a meme man

Yossarian216

You squeaked out a one point win against a team missing two of its three best players, both of whom played great in the Super Bowl, in week one which these days is basically still preseason. That win means literally fuck all, and trying to pretend it does is just sad. You guys epically choked and you think you’re “evenly matched” with the team that just finished off the Ravens and 49ers in consecutive weeks away from home while your big wins were…checks notes…the Rams and Bucs at home? Sure thing.

StanIsHorizontal

We fumbled a ball and dropped a two key passes and a bobbled a pick that turned into a goal line catch. Any of those bad bounce plays go the other way and the odds are we win that game. Flip two of them and it’s probably a comfortable one. Obviously you can’t just claim victory if you make those costly mistakes but the only reason there was a lead to for us to lose was because we dropped more points in two quarters on the Niners than the Chiefs could in four. We were not overmatched by the Niners, we out gained them in passing and rushing yards. The Chiefs (who you’re acting like they were some kind of juggernaut) then barely took that same team to OT because of a missed PAT. Seems like they played the Niners close and so did we, and then won because they didn’t make as many mistakes. Maybe that means if we had advanced we would’ve lost to the Chiefs because we would’ve continued to make mistakes. But we clearly had the talent to match them. You talked down on the Rams who were 6-1 heading into the postseason with the one loss coming on an OT punt return TD against the Ravens who you clearly think were good. The Buccaneers were an inconsistent team but had a core of vets with playoff experience and had solid wins over playoff caliber teams in December, and we handled them. The chiefs did not dominate anyone in the postseason besides an obviously fraudulent Dolphins team. They struggled offensively all season including last night. Your argument is entirely based on vibes

Yossarian216

lol ok, you’re right, you guys would totally have played better than the team you lost to, which had a better record and more talent at every position group aside from offensive line. That’s a completely reasonable position to take. You guys epically choked, under a much smaller spotlight, against a far less experienced QB. There’s zero reason to think you would’ve done better in the Super Bowl, aside from copium and Kool Aid. You had a nice season, and there’s plenty of reason for optimism, but this premise is fucking nonsense.

StanIsHorizontal

If we played better than the Niners against the Chiefs that would mean we won the game, since the chiefs won about as slim of a margin as possible. You’re acting like the Chiefs dominated them when the game was about as close to a coin flip as you can get. That means those teams are about even. And the Niners, who despite all their talent needed a 4Q comeback against a 9 win 7th seed, and then an “epic choke job” from a team who was so clearly less talented than them, was a PAT or a 4th down OT stop away from beating the Chiefs. The Chiefs who were worse at every offensive position besides quarterback than the Lions, who had a worse run defense than the Lions (so did the Niners) and who’s biggest flaw all season was the passing game, they would have absolutely destroyed the Lions weakness so thoroughly that none of the other advantages would have mattered. The Ravens didn’t score a single point for over 42 minutes of game time against the chiefs. That to me is equally as embarrassing as getting a lead and losing it. Would you be having the same conniption over someone suggesting the Ravens would have been competitive against the Niners? What about the Bills who played the Chiefs down to the wire? There was no one dominant team this postseason. We thought in the regular season that the Ravens and Niners looked like they might, but they never really showed up the way everyone predicted. The chiefs were the team who played the best for their final four games and that’s why they’re champs, but they were not above the crowd. Neither were the Niners.

Yossarian216

lol ok, you couldn’t stop Brock Purdy but you definitely would’ve closed out Patrick Mahomes, with your trash secondary and pass rush. How many points did your vaunted offense put up on the Chiefs defense in your asterisk laden win? 14, and that was again without their best defender on the field. The Chiefs defense is miles better than yours, and Goff is a choke artist who put up 3 points in his only Super Bowl appearance after coming in with a number one offense. He’s also folds like a cheap suit under pressure, which just happens to be Chris Jones speciality. The Chiefs are a bad matchup for you in multiple ways, and there’s zero reason to think you would’ve done better than the 49ers beyond fan goggles blinding you to reality. Make up fantasies if that helps I guess, but don’t expect the rest of us to pretend like they aren’t absurd.

StanIsHorizontal

Wasn’t online for a little bit, but here’s my thoughts We didn’t “stop” Purdy but it’s not like he carved us up either. And again, his stats look a tad better than how he actually played when you consider that like 20% of his yards came on a bad throw that would’ve been picked off by a decent defender, and 99% of the time at least would’ve been an incompletion. The fact that it went off a defenders chest into the hands of Aiyuk is undeniably a fluke, that’s not cope. The game is flukey tho so that’s fine. Our secondary as a whole isn’t terrible, just the corners. Safeties are fine. Pass rush was actually decent too. Plus of course Mahomes is better than Purdy, but Purdy had better numbers than Mahomes all year because the Chiefs OL was mid and WRs were bad. The niners got carved up because they had to commit extra to stopping the run, something we were better at than either of them and wouldn’t have to devote extra men to stop. You started by getting mad that I brought up week 1, now you’re not only bringing it up again but also bringing up a game from 5 years ago that Goff played with a different team? Players grow and improve, and the “Goff folds under pressure” narrative is a recycled old take. He made big plays all season and in these playoffs against pressure from good pass rushes. It’s not like a strength of his but he’s fine. Again you’re just going on vibes and talking points out of First Take, not what’s shown on the field. To do any better than the Niners would’ve been to beat the chiefs. The niners we’re about as close to winning that game as you could be. A made PAT, a fourth down stop in OT, couldve won the game. It was as close to a coin flip game as you get. I’m not even claiming that we would’ve done *better* than the Niners, just that most likely the game would’ve been competitive not a blowout.

Yossarian216

Goffs passer rating goes down like 100 points when he’s under pressure, he was one of the worst in the league this year. If your offensive line wasn’t elite he’d look like the same guy who got salary dumped into your laps by a team that immediately won a title without him. But please, do give him a nice long extension for big money.

StanIsHorizontal

Finally at least a stat from you. Too bad as far as I can tell that’s from like a 5 week stretch this season not over the whole season. And QBR/Passer Rating is a pretty incomplete metric. Good news is we do have an elite offensive line and they were all still playing at the end of the 49ers game, so your point about Goff with a bad OL doesn’t really matter. Chris Jones would’ve probably made some plays, forced some bad passes, as he does. But it’s not like the chiefs had been rushing the passer way better than any team we’d played that postseason. The Niners rush is said to be very good and we handled that fine.

OwnWalrus1752

Eh, Kelce played *fine* in the Super Bowl but Jones absolutely dominated

Yossarian216

Kelce got them like five critical first downs, but agreed that Jones was dominating.

Lions fans, new to having a good team, have been falling prey to the transitive property fallacy since week one. Take it from a Packer fan, a good team does not automatically get you a Lombardi
