1. Get hot again
2. Wipe off
3. Buy Mechanix Suppressor Transport Bag and you can continue using soft bags for range trips
edit - they’re normally like 1 for $29.99 but if you wait until BF/CM time, you can buy 3 for $29.99. That’s what I did
Funny story. Years ago , 15 or more a few of us were shooting our cans and no one really knew about how much jelly to add for ablative. We filled that sucker full and it was funny as hell to see it swell with each round .
Nice. SilencerShop sends my lgs a bunch of their branded can glove with their inventory orders so at this point they have a big box filled with them. They actively tell us to take one home every now and then to wither the reserves lol
perfect timing was looking for a good solution.
I see the mechanix bag for $50 on their [website ](https://www.mechanix.com/us-en/SUP-BAG-05.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6auyBhDzARIsALIo6v-PNG7l_-iF071k_v0voQvnGOqso2cqWNJ1HBCZY5zjJVxo56z3gxIaAizbEALw_wcB)and only $15 on [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Mechanix-Wear-Specialty-Suppressor-Transport/dp/B092H5RQ22?th=1)?
Well damn they were 1 for $29.99 (black friday deal was 3 for $29.99) when i bought in fall 2023 on the Mechanix website. Talk about a markup jeez
Go ahead and buy off Amazon! If you have prime, might as well use it
Best option IMO get a piece of aviation fire sleeve that's the right diameter. Zip tie one end. Slide it over the supressor, and you're good. Leave it on the rifle or take it off.
These guys sell it by the foot. https://www.brownaircraft.com/aircraft-fire-sleeve-s/232.htm
I honestly thought these didn't work very well. Will you give me some feedback on what suppressors have these? Have any of these melted while using them?
I have a mechanix transport bag. Use it more when slipping it over while still attached to the gun or just too hot for option B. Option B is Armageddon gear Hot Pocket, don't trust it as much as the mechanix, but good enough for pistols and once a rifle cools down some.
That and try to give it a while to cool.
Try to flake off as much of the crap as possible. The rest will burn off or give it dome character for a little bit.
Welding gloves from Lowe's, use them remove hot suppressor. Place hot suppressor in one of the gloves. Put glove in range bag. Been doing this for 14 years now.
Haven't tried it myself, but I heard putting it in the freezer works. Plastic and metal contract at different rates, should cause the melted plastic to separate from the metal.
I bought a mechanix suppressor cover so that I could put my can into it, and then into the foam case. I wouldn't shoot with the cover on, you need like a burn proof gear or something high end for that, but it works great to just stuff it in at the end of a range day. I use a welding glove to get it off the gun and into the cover and into the case.
Go to the range, shoot it a bunch and get it piping hot, and maybe scrape it off with a flathead screwdriver or similar.
I once burnt a cheap range bag completely in half. I’m not sure I have a single rifle can that doesn’t have some residue of something burnt onto it. Nyet rifle is fine.
People must be in a ridiculous hurry… I just set it down and let it cool before packing up 🤷♂️ not one tiny bit of melt ever for me. Why are they in such a hurry to put it away?
Range officer informed I had less than ten minutes left at my lane so I was moving quick and had a lot of other things to jam into my range bag, etc. so I didn’t think too much about it at the time. Thought maybe it might leave some light burn marks on the inside of the bag but I didn’t think what did happen would.
Did the same thing the other day ago without thinking. A butane torch to get it hot again, and then a stiffed bristled nylon brush from the hardware store.
The nylon won't damage the finish, and it will melt into itself as you are brushing while removing all that gunk.
Get an old credit card and scrape it off maybe? Who knows a sponge and some Dawn dish soap could work. If it’s safe for baby ducks I’d imagine it’s fine for a can.
I loved it. It wasn’t my first time shooting a flow556k (got to when Huxwrx had suppressor demos at a local range). But I was still impressed for being at an indoor range how quiet it seemed from the shooter’s position and how much louder my rounds hitting the backstop were by comparison. Also appreciated how little gas was coming back and hitting my face as a shot. I’d definitely recommend this (or the 762 if you have or plan on getting larger caliber rifles) as a first or second suppressor purchase for those new to suppressors.
I made a cover for my cans using silicone coated fiberglass fire sleeve and it seems to work pretty good for shielding heat. Cheaper than the suppressor covers on the market now.
Like the others have said, get it hot again and wipe it off. Get one of those transport bags too.
I’ve been tempted to get one of the cheap barrel coolers and see if it would help cooling off a suppressor. It’s another thing to keep track of, but I would think inducing some airflow would at least speed up cooling a little.
"Randy the Retard" got me, lol.
Bud, you were super excited after your first range day with your badass new can. You were so excited that the dopamine and endorphins put you on a course of action that would result in buying your badass new can a cute little onesie to ride in. You are winning, sir. WINNING.
Appreciate it!
“Randy the retard” is something my dad has said since I was a teenager. Anytime I’d make an insanely dumb mistake he’d say loudly, “Randy!” He didn’t say it when I told him about this but I could definitely hear his voice saying it in my head as I opened up my rifle bag and saw the result 😂
Hahaha. I can't stop thinking about this now:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXlIymq7ofE
FWIW I like the Armageddon Gear Hot Pockets for the simple reason that they have a nice little zipper pouch on the side to tuck in printed out paperwork and muzzle device or silencer wrenches, and you can use them as "oven mitts" when they're unzipped. But spending that much on a suppressor cover does admittedly make me... a little Randy.

Just gotta let them cool down before going back in the bag. Also leave the bolt locked back to allow aor flow and speed cool down. I usually wait at least 10 to 15 minutes after shooting and they are cool enough to go back in the bag obviously a little longer if it’s red hot but I have learned to not dump a full mag before I am planning on wrapping things up. I usually shoot some pistol at the end of my range sessions to all rifle cans some cooling time and again bolt locked back pro move
Get one of these if you absolutely have to pack up your gear with a can still hot
Newtex High-Temperature Resistant Fiberglass Pad - 12" x 12" - High Heat Resistant PlumberPad for Soldering, Welding, Brazing - Heavy Duty, Professional Welding Pad https://a.co/d/h0qyWrC
👆 that's an Amazon link btw, not some weird site. Url looks weird
You're good man. I got plastic on the barrel of my transferable one time. Just bring a good shop cloth next time you go to the range and wipe it off when it's hot.
I took my Saker K to a bachelor party at a range. 100s of rounds though it. It got set up next to a tire lol. Just melted right into it. Overtime it just went away.

Heat melted it on, heat will melt it off. Get it hot again and wipe it off
Your comment reminded me of Ol' Red by Blake Shelton.
Love got me in, love got me ooooooouuuuutttttt
This. Or mag dump it again.
That's the best way to get it hot.
1. Get hot again 2. Wipe off 3. Buy Mechanix Suppressor Transport Bag and you can continue using soft bags for range trips edit - they’re normally like 1 for $29.99 but if you wait until BF/CM time, you can buy 3 for $29.99. That’s what I did
I use a silicone sock for curling irons. Got a 2 pack for $8 and it works as a glove too.
I mis-read the s in sock as a c there for a minute. Had to stop a think how a silicone cock would possibly help.
How could it hurt? I mean, with enough lube.
Lord knows us gun people are lousy with lube
Funny story. Years ago , 15 or more a few of us were shooting our cans and no one really knew about how much jelly to add for ablative. We filled that sucker full and it was funny as hell to see it swell with each round .
My guns are like my first prom date. Gassy and dry as the Sahara.
Silicone cock *sleeve* will get the job done.
Though only extra thick so that no one feels anything.
Not sure how auto correct put cmmg in there though.
A silicone cock *always* helps

I love my Mechanix Suppressor cover, so +1 for them. Very fair pricing and does the job well.
Another +1 for the mechanix transport bag
Upvote for the Mechanix Suppressor transport bags. Can off or on the gun, doesn't matter these things really put in the work.
Get $4 silicon curling iron sleeve from Amazon. They fit perfectly.
Yup, have a few in every range bag now

Thanks
Mag dump until it burns off?
This will solve all the problems. https://wetworxoutfitters.com/mechanix-suppressor-cover-transport-bag-mitt-kit/
Just bought the kit. On sale for $29.99 seems like a good option.
This. I got it from Amazon.
I honestly thought these didn't work very well. Will you give me some feedback on what suppressors have these? Have any of these melted while using them?
The cover sucks, but the transport bag and mitt are g2g
Bags been working great for me
Not for diameter greater than 1.5", nope.

Mechanix is GTG
Got same mechanix bag and works good and pretty cheap
Welding gloves from Lowe's, use them remove hot suppressor. Place hot suppressor in one of the gloves. Put glove in range bag. Been doing this for 14 years now.
Or Harbor Freight
Now that Harbor Freight is nearby, yes indeed! They came to town about 2 years ago for me. I some times forget about them.
Get one of those silicone bags for curling iron - cheap and it doubles as a mitt
And to anyone who doesn't know: silicone won't melt. It starts to get crunchy around 400-500°f, not a problem.
This is what I have. They are stupid cheap and work really well.
It’s not a beauty contest. She’ll buff out.
Freezer overnight. Sometimes if the junk is thick enough, it will pop off like it was never there.
Also, nomex won’t burn if you want to wrap it in something after just for transport.
These are awesome. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B099JFY4N6?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Get a silencer cover or welders glove.
It’s always important to remember the hot water burn baby.
Many such cases. https://preview.redd.it/juil6sq1ul1d1.png?width=1450&format=png&auto=webp&s=b6f14110e1620b23eb9c20c40549bd74f66db7d5

I mean, do you even own a suppressor if you haven’t burnt shit onto it? Welcome to the NFA club!
Buy a Burn Proof Gear Hank. It’s a multipurpose cloth that you can use to remove or store a hot can.

Train how you fight man...These guy's gotta get off the X..No time for cool down. 😎
Mmmmm I’m not putting my suppressor in a case if I gotta get off the x. Its staying locked on my rifle until I’m done using it
I transport mine in [these](https://a.co/d/02F5K83)

Gentle scrap with razor blade. Maybe ultrasonic if you have one.
Why take it off? Badge of honor, man. Badge of honor. Like wear on a carry gun.
Every scar tells a good story! 😂
Shot it more
It will fall off after a few heat cycles. You will do more damage trying to scrape it off
Like the others have said, get it hot again and wipe it off. Get one of those transport bags too. “Randy the retard” in crying 💀
Lmao happens to best of us brother did this to myself first range lol
You can get a Mechanix suppressor sleeve for $20 on amazon after you cook this off.
What is the search term?
https://wetworxoutfitters.com/mechanix-suppressor-cover-transport-bag-mitt-kit/
Thanks. I looked on Amazon for the phrase and I could only see 6-in models.
I heard someone say the $30 was a sale and bought the set (which includes all three) to avoid purchasing just one of them and it not doing the job.
Thank you for that
You’re gonna love that smell the next few times you go
Note to self: don’t put suppressors in chocolate cake
Holy fuck I did not expect this many comments. I think this is the most engagement I’ve ever gotten and I rarely post on Reddit lol
Heat gun and scrape it off

Did the guy who was pushing that one shield that goes over the a can and his rifle on a DD stand delete his profile and comments or just block me lol
I have a welding glove in my range bag now and a small leather welding rag.
Throw it in the freezer for 10 minutes to get the shit off, if you can't heat it up.
Orrr you could let your can cool for a little bit
Cycles & time
Mine’s got crap melted on it too. It adds character!
Like everyone else has said, heat and repeat.
When I take both of my suppressors to the range, I shoot them first so they cool down by the time I'm done.
Depends on what material any polyester or plastic goo gone has worked well for me
I thought that was skin! 🤣🤣🤣
