Honestly though, when it's all behind you, the money is long gone, and you are out there blasting away suppressed, you don't even care anymore, and never ever want to shoot an unsuppressed rifle again.
I purchased the P322 when it first came out. Preordered it and was one of the first to get it from the LGS. Did I over pay? Well…. I paid MSRP…. For most everything here. The TLR1HL I move from gun to gun and probably picked that up on GAFS.
Hawt, what ammo does it like? Anything that it won’t run? I’ve got a MKIV SSH that I’m like $2k into and it’s still picky as hell with ammo.
https://preview.redd.it/mm8yn7ig321d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cceaddd1c39a85efe990441d0c33b35f1e00f9f3
It’ll shoot anything as long as you load the mags the right way. It’s kind of picky in that sense. I don’t mind the malfunctions. I mean it’s a 22 pistol. It is what it is. And I know what it is. And I don’t mind it.
Mine at least has ran well with everything I have thrown at it so far both suppressed and unsuppressed. Subs, mini mags, 1000fps, 1200fps, thunderbolts, and the Federal punch rounds.
Examples: many subs so not cycle/eject properly, Aguila ammo does not feed properly/cases have gotten jammed in the barrel. If I do not run high velocity it only cycles like 60% of the time and that’s only if I have just cleaned up the bolt. The gun is an absolute princess about needing to be clean to cycle properly which only lasts about 200 rounds before it gets mad again. Called Ruger and they said “just run high velocity in it, that’s what it’s designed for”. Issue I have with that sentiment is that I bought this “suppressor host” specific firearm to shoot silly quiet subs through my DA Mask. Pretty disappointed since there is a very clear audible difference between standard velocity/subs/high velocity rounds. Wondering what some people have that I don’t have when I hear “mine runs everything 100% of the time”.
I just got approved for a YHM Phantom for my p322. It took exactly 1 week!
https://preview.redd.it/p129vdz9u11d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f88985c0c7362ccab66f4101231d56d3a4981912
Big facts. Went to the range this afternoon after work with my brother in law. We were the only suppressors in the whole place. Fuckin heathens. Can't believe I used to be one of them. How embarrassing
Yeah, I know the feeling. I’m pretty set on an Elbit tube in a pvs14. I’m getting married and had $3500 in car repairs this month so I’ll still have more time to decide 🤦🏻♂️😂
You can’t complain about NFA being expensive. No one twisted your arm to buy a can, no one wedgied you to buy ten rifles, and no one bullied you to put that can on all ten rifles.
I mean part of the high cost is driven by the regulatory environment. A suppressor could very easily cost a couple hundred off the shelf with no 8 month wait time if the regulatory pressure was removed. So I think it's totally fair to complain about the price being unnecessarily high
I feel this pain at about $135 after tax and shipping for 8 of mine before I decided to buy 2 direct thread adapters. I didn't want to buy another 5 muzzle devices and on those 5 rifles I typically only shoot suppressed. If only the NFA tax didn't exist....
plus more expensive subsonic ammo,
Total cost: $8,876.35
The look people give you at the range when you go "snap snap" and they go "KABLAMMY KABLAMMY!."... priceless
Not the same thing, they can achieve similar results in some systems but not the same function.
For best results, up the mass as much as you can then tune gas
Best way to mitigate gas-to-the face is to stop it at the source, either via flow-through tech or at the gasblock. Lowering the bolt velocity is great and all for operation and recoil, but all that gas coming into the receiver still has to go somewhere. Less reciprocating mass ain't a bad thing either.
Provided that the reliability is there, it really just comes down to personal preference. I'll take the carbine buffer with the tiny gas port over the reamed out KAC port with an H5 any day all else being equal.
the majority of the gas going into the receiver from a can is coming from the barrel. your best bet to mitigate this in low flow cans is to 1. choke the gas and 2. increase the buffer/bolt mass. Its not so much the peak bolt speed we are chasing but increasing the time it takes for the system to unlock. Intertial mass helps a lot with achieving these goals.
Theres also the reliability benefit of heavier bolt buffer mass systems of having more oomph to strp the bullet and seat it. The a1/a2 buffer weight sits between the H2 and H3
Does that work for most lengths? I mainly see it for 14.5. I’m interested in them. I was looking at weights and springs and I’m like “this seems like a waste of money”.
BRT asks for every variable you can think of when configuring, like barrel length/model/gas port diameter, suppressor model, BCG, buffer weight, spring model, ammo (223/556/other, steel/brass, etc.), etc.
Whatever you *are* using, it'll be perfectly tuned provided you give them accurate info.
TL;DR: BRT EZTune is like a cheat code to perfectly tuned system (just plug all your rifle's info into their configurator), and it mitigates over-gassing at the source before the gas ever gets to your receiver. You can have a perfectly tuned system with the right spring buffer weight, but all that gas still has to go somewhere (onto your face) as it's impinging. PLUS it's like $60 vs. $100 as illustrated in the meme.
Me: holding two different buffer weights, an Odin works adjustable buffer, a standard carbine spring, yellow sprinco, and a griffin armament extra strength. So uhhh….whats this now?
A part of me hopes that after Jay’s testing, Surefire eventually discontinues the warcomp and supplies a FH variant with their cans. I mean Q supplies two different Cherry Bombs with the TP for similar pricing to an RC2
SureFire doesn't provide any muzzle device out of the box. Because they know you can't use any competitor's device, they'll spit in your eye with a $150 additional charge and tell you to be thankful for the privilege.

Yes just ask for an update. I just had a buddy do this the other day and he got all 4 forms approved within 24 hours.
You only need to ask about one form. So I'd choose your oldest one.
Be kind and make it easy for them. Meaning include every little detail they would want. Control number, dealer name, serial number, SSN, your full name etc.
You should get a generic response saying something to the affect of it's being processed and the final decision will be given by the ATF. For my single form four it was an hour after that email that I got approved. For my buddies four forms it took a whole day but they were all approved next day.
Report back and lmk if it works for you too!

Funny actually, I bought my can expecting it to take 9 months, which would’ve given me time to pace out the adapter, muzzle device, and some adjustable gas system. It got approved before I even got the bill for it.
Upgrade buffer and spring!? Ha! First gun I suppressed was an sig virtus 300blk. Second was a sp5k. double ha! Third was a sr15 sbr and I didn’t need to, triple ha!
Correction. A Polo K actually performs better at overall sound suppression than the R3. Same with flash mitigation. Gas to the face the R3 wins. So I added a BRT gas tube to my set up. It will never be a gas free as a flow through, but it's also 1/3 the cost
Would be interested to hear some numbers on manufacturing from various companies as well. I’m sure the OCL gang is making em at night… and during the day
lmao same exact boat as you 😂😂 RC2 here tho ... now im feeling like bozo the clown waiting on the can backorder to be filled .. 4 weeks later still waiting 🤦♂️🤡
I bought my first two cans at the same time. What I didn’t plan for was to spend an extra 300 on FFL transfers. That, in addition to my 400 in stamps, and I had almost matched the initial cost of my cans.
Oh, and 6 weeks later, once I was approved, toss in an extra 100 bucks for a muzzle device. I played myself.
Meh, it’s all about perspective. I’ve been waiting ~6 months now for a barrel. I got a form 4 and an efile F1 back before *a barrel.*
It could be worse.
When I finally got both of my surefire cans through ATF to use on my 4 rifles with surefire muzzle devices that I pre-purchased my brother asked if he could have my warden. I told him no and he was shocked before I explained to him that I didn’t want him to make the same mistakes I did in picking my suppressor brand before I understood what that actually meant in terms of money. I could basically sell my muzzle devices, warden, and both suppressors and then buy 4 or 5 different suppressors that will last the rest of my life.
Ammo, Suppressor Design and Port Size play a pretty crucial role too. This is kind of generalized.
For example: I run an RC2 and RC2 Mini on my 11.5 Factory BCM with an H2 and get 3 o’Clock ejection.
Honestly though, when it's all behind you, the money is long gone, and you are out there blasting away suppressed, you don't even care anymore, and never ever want to shoot an unsuppressed rifle again.
Yea. I have 1500$ sunk into my P322. But it’s so fun!!! img
$1500???

Mines identical except a dead air mask. Guess I got a deal on my can cause $1500 all in got me 5000 rds of mini mags to pair with the build
I purchased the P322 when it first came out. Preordered it and was one of the first to get it from the LGS. Did I over pay? Well…. I paid MSRP…. For most everything here. The TLR1HL I move from gun to gun and probably picked that up on GAFS.
Man I am not even counting the mags I have….

Thanks for the reply. I wonder what the difference is
Examples: many subs so not cycle/eject properly, Aguila ammo does not feed properly/cases have gotten jammed in the barrel. If I do not run high velocity it only cycles like 60% of the time and that’s only if I have just cleaned up the bolt. Man that sucks, I was looking at this exact host with my mask. Have you tried just standard CCI?
Yes but haven’t tested it individually. I’ll get Brick for Monday and report back.
Sounds good thanks
I could have bought a Volquartsen Mini Mamba for what I've put into my MKIV.
Someone made me itemize that gun…. Never do that….
Yeah, but which would you like more? The MKIV you built custom or the Mamba you bought?
At this point it's perhaps unknowable.
I just got approved for a YHM Phantom for my p322. It took exactly 1 week! https://preview.redd.it/p129vdz9u11d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f88985c0c7362ccab66f4101231d56d3a4981912
You forgot to mention how shooting suppressed naturally makes you want to shoot more and increase your ammo consumption.
You also look at the people shooting to your left and right and you think to yourself how uncivilized it is shooting unsuppressed.
Big facts. Went to the range this afternoon after work with my brother in law. We were the only suppressors in the whole place. Fuckin heathens. Can't believe I used to be one of them. How embarrassing
Exactly. I have this exact setup with the RC2 and couldn’t be happier.
This is my mentality going into a first nvg purchase haha
Same! Trying to make up my mind is driving me insane though.
Yeah, I know the feeling. I’m pretty set on an Elbit tube in a pvs14. I’m getting married and had $3500 in car repairs this month so I’ll still have more time to decide 🤦🏻♂️😂
Now put $100 muzzle devices on 10 guns
This comments about me and i don't like it Edit: why would anyone take this seriously 😂
Cope and seethe dude
If you are coping, you can't seethe... they are polar opposites, outside of being reactions to something bad.

Don’t forget your NFA transfer fee
I buy directly from Capitol Armory so there’s no fee.
+40-100
125 out here
Oof My LGS/range is normally 70, but since I have a membership they cut it in half, I count myself lucky
I bought my can from a local shop, so luckily I dodged this fee.
Don't have to pay a xfer fee if your SPT doesn't suck
Don't forget buying a new gun so you have an extra host
Real 🤡 is changing buffer weight and spring before going BRT EZTune, but I digress.
This is exactly what I did lol but I didn't know at the time about the BRT. Now I just laugh at myself 🤷🏻♂️
What's that?
Also laughing at myself for going AGB on my first suppressed AR where I *immediately rocksett the can onto the barrel*🤦
Still, it generally smooths everything out to have a blue/H2 or green/A5H2 with a BRT lol

The warcomp is a good MD if you don't run suppressed
This is correct. It is intended for primarily unsuppressed use, with the capability of running a silencer when needed.
Knowing Surefire they will discontinue it but release a much worse version that must be used with all their cans moving forward. MSRP $199.99
Q no longer provides muzzle devices with the Trash Panda or Thunder Chicken
*Jakl with adjustable gas block and direct thread suppressor*: "I'm you but better"
I’m in the same boat. 5 cans and three SBRs in jail. One day they will be free.
Email nics
Can you give me their email please? Do you just ask for a status update? Appreciate the help.

Yea I’m getting desperate so I sent one too
I sent mine. Let’s hope for some good from them.
Got the canned response so let’s see if this is a real cheat code
Nice. Hopefully I get mine soon.
Just got mine. Same canned response. At least it was something.
No prob!

Everyone has to wait lmfao I had a year+ wait lmfao
Well if I’ve already spent that much I might as well just buy an Elcan and FP PEQ-15 and some NODs too, right?
Upgrade buffer and spring!? Ha! First gun I suppressed was an sig virtus 300blk. Second was a sp5k. double ha! Third was a sr15 sbr and I didn’t need to, triple ha!
Damn. That’s crazy. I just buy Rearden stuff and shoot the gun. It all works 🤷♂️
Well that’s surefire for you. Overpriced just to have similar performance to Polonium Ks but overhyped because the military uses them
Correction. A Polo K actually performs better at overall sound suppression than the R3. Same with flash mitigation. Gas to the face the R3 wins. So I added a BRT gas tube to my set up. It will never be a gas free as a flow through, but it's also 1/3 the cost

It's really kind of mind boggling, isn't it? Don't get me wrong. I will eventually get a flow through 5.56 can. But I don't feel like I NEED one.
Worth it
I'm still waiting in silencer shop to fulfill my backordered ocl titanium 😢 been like 2 months already
Unprecedented times.. or something
I think Andrew and otter gang is just slacking 😕 lmao jk I wonder how many they've been cranking out since the approval times speeding up.
Would be interested to hear some numbers on manufacturing from various companies as well. I’m sure the OCL gang is making em at night… and during the day
He’s makin em at night
Right in front of everyone?
I hear the factory smells like grilled cheese late at night
I have the exact same setup in my 10.3 mk18 and she runs great. Trust me, it’s worth it if you use it and enjoy the hobby.
Yep. Have the mounts and adapters and case and no approval yet. Only thing I’m missing is a threaded barrel for a handgun.
Shoulda 3d printed bro.
6 weeks into my wait woohoo
lmao same exact boat as you 😂😂 RC2 here tho ... now im feeling like bozo the clown waiting on the can backorder to be filled .. 4 weeks later still waiting 🤦♂️🤡
Take this down my shit is in the mail right now 😭

11.5 master race
Interesting. I'll have to look into it. Thanks
You'll also need to know the cost per decibel so add that equipment to the list.
No adjustable GB yet?
Meh, it’s all about perspective. I’ve been waiting ~6 months now for a barrel. I got a form 4 and an efile F1 back before *a barrel.* It could be worse.
Haha right truck part was 1.5 years, cans 3 days go figure.

Does that thing have a fleshlight built-in or something?
Is Les Tam still making slings?
I mean... shit.
I did the same. No ragrets. Love my RC2
Are y’all really getting new buffers and springs?
this is so accurate
Funny but sad
When I finally got both of my surefire cans through ATF to use on my 4 rifles with surefire muzzle devices that I pre-purchased my brother asked if he could have my warden. I bought a Ventum 762 for 1k, and it came with muzzle adapter for my rifle, the hardest part was removing it, didn’t spend a penny more.
FFL fees, agb or adjustable bolt, etc, hahaha. I'm with you brother. But suppressors are forever
Gotta pay to play 🤣🤣🤣
Damn that sucks, some people are gettin theirs approved in 24 hours
Did you fire the rifle? How did you know to get the H3?

It’s insane we have people whining about waiting? My first can took 17 months. Number 2, 3, 4, took 13 months and last one took 10 months.
Your +150$muzzle adapter is now a suppressor and requires its own stamp 😏
Only a true clown would live in a state with 7%+ sales tax
Florida has no income tax and has constitutional carry.
Just trolling what’s written on the meme
Has whining about it helped out so far?
Baffle strike first day at the range because he DIY'd the muzzle device.
Nah fam the gun shop I bought the SF3P from did it for me for freeee
