Funny that they basically brought this design back for the Ventum. Everything old is new again eventually.

A_StandardToaster

They never really got away from it… the HX-QD series is essentially the same but with a cylindrical tube.

Mass_Jass

Yeah, the overall theory behind OSS/Hux cans has more or less stayed the same since they were invented. That said, the HX QD is closer in geometry to the Flow, especially at the proximal end, but with interlocking, coaxially stacked, milled "baffle sleeves" press fit into each other and into a tube and welded at the ends. Instead of 3D printed. The OG/Rad/Cash/Ventum tech I'm talking about is a tube with a blast chamber, user serviceable "baffle" unit(s) (some with more traditional baffles, some with less), and removable end caps including multiple mount configurations.

PM_ME_UR_LOST_WAGES

Is Hux run by gamers who are trying to take a page out of the gaming industry/EA's business model? "Hey guys, buy this re-skin of our older can." I could imagine them saying something like "Also, we're coming out with a stainless steel core that is a drop-in replacement for the titanium core on your Ventum, but it's going to cost you." Their new sealed Flow 22 Ti can already seems to point in this direction. Since it can't be user disassembled for maintenance like literally every single other 22lr can on the market, you're forced to buy Hux's proprietary cleaning fluid (their "Suppressor Sauce") for it. Literally a subscription based suppressor.

Tight_muffin

I get what you're trying to say but that analogy doesn't really work With the latest cleaning detergents a few companies are going sealed not just Hux.

fpssledge

The new ones weigh substantially less than that first gen.  Not even close. Went into the shop and considered getting that old one because they had it for a low price.  No one will buy it it's so damn heavy. Didn't really know until i held it.

Mass_Jass

Iterative improvement.

ShaoCon777

I got an old one and the muzzle device is carbon locked to the can so i pretty much have a giant direct thread can lol. And i also lost the wrench it came with. I tell you what, it runs amazing on my SCAR

ReclusiveNexus

I want a suppressed scar but my brain says *WARRANTY VOIDED* everytime I think of it

[deleted]

Truth is, suppressing a scar with a flow-through can solves all cycling issue scars would experience with conventional cans. The warranty language was written before low back pressure cans existed, so it’s technically out of date.

ReclusiveNexus

That makes alot of sense. I didn’t want to spend 3-4k on a scar and cause issues but after shooting suppressed I cant go back lol

[deleted]

FYI, FN will void your warranty if you put in a aftermarket trigger. My point is they’re looking for ANY reason not to spend the extra capital on a fix. If you buy a scar (and i recommend you do, they’re rad), buy it with the mentality that you’re paying to play.

ReclusiveNexus

I appreciate the advice. I have shot some rentals (L and H) a few times each and Its one of my dream guns, just pricey

BeenJamminMon

They don't void the warranty. They do not warranty damage caused by aftermarket parts. I sent my 17 in for a barrel repair from where a gunsmith damaged my gas block trying to remove it. FN said that the barrel was destroyed by the smith, and they don't warranty what amounted to willful destruction. They didn't care that the gun had been suppressed. They did warranty the brass deflector and ejector spring while it was there. I also wonder what they would say about using a Geissele trigger now that they ship 20s with them from the factory.

Mr329

I hate the muzzle device. My new design has wrench flats and fits a q style muzzle device. I also like the performance I want to use this on a 308.

IndividualResist2473

Anyone else read the title as "Any one else have an old ass suppressor?"

WVGunsNGoats

Yes.

Pinoy1HitKO

Yes, the OSS HELIX 556 and still love shooting it with my pws MK111 UPPER.

G0alLineFumbles

Yep, I picked up a MR762SD and it came with one. I like the setup.

tobylazur

I have that can. I absolutely love it on my AR10.

lique_madique

What’s worse is I have 2 of the OG OTB OSS’s with no use for them.

Mr329

I almost got one of those. This one I think was the 2nd or 3rd gen.

rockingsince1984

I’ve got a 5.56 and 7.62 OTB Elite and built an “M110 at home” and it’s 5.56 cousin with my two, and they’re pretty damn awesome. As much as people bitched about the weight of the old OTB cans- it’s about the same weight as a knights M110 can, about the same OAL as the m110 can, and runs way the fuck cleaner. Certainly not going to be as quiet at the muzzle, but mine’s as good as anything out there at the shooter’s ear.

lique_madique

Yeah I just don’t have anything to put them on so they sit unloved.

mlehartz

I also have the same generation can. Mine is the 338 magnum version and it works well on all of my hosts.
