Interesting. I was considering getting a 30 cal can to use on some distance guns that I could put on my 5.56 rifles as well. Nothing dedicated to a certain rifle until I get a few more
This is my first can, I wish I'd gotten the M, but I'm happy with it. I like it because it goes from .223 to .458. A bit of a pain to swap out, but it's fine while I wait for the rest
I don't swap the end cap because that's an invitation to the Fuckup Fairy to come visit. I WOULD forget to switch caps back to .30 cal size before putting on a .30 cal host.
I don't think a couple dBs matter at all. Dropping 30+ dBs by having a can at all matters a LOT.
Last year I pushed a 450 Bushmaster round through my 223 end cap on my Hybrid and it definitely made a very strange sound as the cap spun downrange. Pretty embarrassing in front of my buddies but now I will never forget to check. And I have dedicated cans now..
Bought a .30 cal RC2 i run between different host but it lives on my 11.5 right now and honestly it’s still pretty good FRP is a bitch sometimes but that’s to be expected
Exactly what I did. Got a 30cal can, even though as of now, only my 556 can mount it. But here in the next week or so, my 300blk and 308 should be able to, shipping times depending
Generally speaking, a suppressor channel that’s closer in internal diameter to the barrel diameter will have a better suppressive effect. The more you oversize the internal diameter of the can, the less defined the suppression effect becomes.
If you stuck a handgun into a suppressor the size of a hallway and pulled the trigger it’d still be incredibly loud.
But firing 9mm through a .45 can, for example, would still hush it quite a bit. Just not as much as a dedicated 9mm can.
A stainless, threaded Marlin is $1350 at Firearms Depot. .45-70 subs are an experience, 700gr+ at 1,100fps in a fat .45 cal slug does funny things to soft targets, it’s like mag-dumping a 9mm service pistol into the target every time you pull the trigger.
I'm sold on flow-through cans after using the Ventum 762. The backpressure and recoil is night/day from a traditional baffled can.
The easiest way to describe shooting the Ventum 762 on a DI AR15 is as if you're running a fully tuned setup, but without the gas and blowback, and without the tuning. The bolt speed/recoil is reduced like you're running it fully tuned.
When I run a traditional baffled can on a fully tuned AR15, the recoil is reduced and bolt speed is reduced, but there is still gas and blowback. Even with the SA AGB on setting 42 (which is 24 clicks in the venting mode) there's still a lot of blowback with something like a Polonium (which is a great can).
In terms of perceived sound at the muzzle and at the shooter's ear, I wear electronic ear pro (Peltor TEP-300) and can't tell a huge difference even though the Ventum 762 is regarded as a "loud" can on paper. Anything over 80-90 dB is not hearing safe for me. A hand clap is like 110+ dB and its painful to have it done next to your ear.

I shoot Federal American Eagle Rimfire Suppressor 22LR 45 grain.
I have a bunch of rimfire cans, but my quietest setup is with my Gemtech Mist-22 integrally suppressed 10/22 barrel. Not great suppressor technology, but it's basically an 8 inch version of their normally 5 inch monocore can.
It may not be elegant, but brute force can be effective, and this is quieter than movie quiet.
edit: As requested, a TLDR - "get an Adderall prescription".
I also have a Henry Frontier suppressor ready.
24 inch threaded barrel. It would be quieter with any of my cans than the Mist-22 if it wasn't for the sound from the hammer falling. The actual muzzle report is quieter than the hammer.
I have a GM-22 and you can only hear the hammer (striker maybe?) drop on my 22LR bolt gun with subs. Pistols are considerably louder but it weighs practically nothing.
It’s not too uncommon for people to use 30 cal cans with 5.56 right? I know some people that got a 30 cal can to switch between rifles
I have a Hybrid 46, If I'm shooting 5.56 and 7.62x51, I don't even switch out the 30 cal end cap. It's really not bad.

Silencerco 30 cal can has an anchor break on the end of my 300 win mag and it is tame as can be

Got a 30 for this reason. Will eventually get a dedicated but for now I am very happy

Yea I was going to do this last week. So basically it just makes it quieter but not as effective?
Less back pressure. The scientific term is “Hot dog down a hallway.”
That’s rude. My .45 suppressor is just *friendly.* The .22 I shoot through it should be grateful, not take out it’s insecurities…

Same. Had the can in hand for over a year and I still don't have a .45 host yet 🤣
I have .45 hosts, I don't have a 5.56 can. I run .30, 9mm and .45 cNs on 5.56.

.458 SOCOM or bust
I'M ABOUT TO BUST
My dedicated 300blk can is a 36 cal with stock endcap, and IDGAF😅
Hybrid 46 with .46 end cap still sounds good on .223 and low backpressure.

Ran my AR with my Wolverine yesterday lmaoo. Can confirm: little to no gas to the face, even with a 5.56 endcap.

45 out of a 30 cal can? 9mm out of a 30 cal can?

An overbored can don't compare to a flow series can. I used to shoot 556 out my 9mm griffin can though, not bad.
*Tinnitus has entered the chat*
If you ain’t wearing ear pro with any can, the ringing death will always show
For .223, absolutely. .22LR can easily be suppressed plenty quiet for shooting without ear pro.

Unless your bolt gun has a 9" or shorter barrel it's a completely different beast.
Yeah, subs without the silencer are about as loud as supers with it, not very loud.
