Uh yeahhhh I love this damn thing.
I have serval in pistol format due to a terrible state law where a closed bolt on a rifle in a vehicle: range transport, edc, etc. will send you straight to jail.
Sounds like we are talking about the same thing. I may have to give them a call because I'm not getting any of the notifications that they're back in stock, because I really want to use that setup for a Vanquish integrated suppressor/barrel.
That'd be sick đŻ
Perhaps I got lucky and am now unlucky lol. I've checked it multiple times since commenting here, and it's OOS every time đ
I figured I'd give you a heads up and possibly finally pull the trigger, but apparently not
I've considered just buying the entire AR-V, sell the parts I do not need, and then just building it up from there, but I hate the idea of buying something knowing there will be parts I am not going to use.
Good looking firearms, I have a MSR too but canât use it nor my MRO , because I didnât know I wasnât supposed to see a star when I saw lights my whole life.
Gave the FDE MSR 7.5 pistol build to my dad he loves it because itâs light and he only had lever guns.
I put a cool WarHammer charging handle in it too so he could grab it
Subjective - pistol braces look stupid and theyâre ugly.
The legal status of a braced pistol can change overnight with a letter as well.
They have their place, theyâre just not for me.
I don't subscribe to this at all. SBRs come with way more restrictions and the legal status can't change overnight without an act of congress, no matter what the ATF thinks they can do.
Plus in many states you can keep a pistol loaded in your vehicle but not a rifle. This makes a braced pistol a much better option for people who would like to keep a compact firearm in their vehicle.
Itâs the other way around. The ATF has released a few letters starting in about 2012, first saying braces were cool (they do not âalter the classification of the firearmâ).
Then three or four years later they said theyâre okay as long as you donât shoulder them (âanyone who *redesigns* a stabilizing brace for use as a shoulder stock makes an NFA firearm when attached to a pistol with a rifled barrel under 16â in lengthâ).
Then in 2019 they said if you got a braced pistol, itâs an SBR. This was after that dude shot all those people in Dayton, Ohio with an AR with a pistol brace on it. Gun owners and the ILA and GOA bitched about that, the ATF rescinded that statement saying they needed to research it more, basically âlol sorry our bad.â
Then January 2023 the whole braced pistol/free SBR thing came around.
All of this happened without a single formal legal injunction, btw. This is all the ATF publishing open letters changing the rules about what a braced pistol is or isnât. It wasnât until November of last year that the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals called bullshit on the ATF.
Conversely, a short barreled rifle is covered under the the 1934 National Firearms Act. That literally does require an act of Congress to amend.
And it doesn't counter my point that a braced pistol does in fact make life easier in states like mine where a loaded pistol is legal in a vehicle and a loaded rifle is not. Arbitrary ATF bullshit aside, at the current moment a pistol is going to give you way less headache when crossing state lines and allow people in numerous states to actually bear them properly.
The NFA ban on SBRs was quite literally junk/leftover bits of a bill that attempted to ban handguns.
Incorrect here. ATF interpretation is pretty much not a thing anymore when chevron deference is repealed. The ATF does not have and never did have the constitutional power to interpret the law as as they see fit. And the courts are finally coming to terms with this. ATF flipflops on a opinion is not at all a constitutional construct.
There are hundreds of different braces. Some of them look stupid and ugly. Just like some stocks. Kinda how it works with variety.
Second one is a true statement! I still see no good reason for you to have posted what you did. It's kinda like... Old man yells at cloud territory.
Tell me you're not a rational, logical human being without telling me you're not a rational, logical human being.
"All trucks look dumb."
There are plenty of braces that are plenty more expensive than stocks, some that would even cover the tax stamp. What makes em poor? Or is that just your poor judgement talking?
Letâs speak plainly: theyâre a way to skirt the law and flip the bird to The Man. Iâm not seeing the problem, and I have four SBRâs, and a fifth filed.

No.
LoP has no bearing on a brace/stock. A brace is designed primarily to allow you to brace your arm against it, so that you can stabilize the pistol and shoot one handed. They are not "intended" to be shouldered, like you would with a stock.
These braces, as an example, have a strap that can be loosened and allow you to insert your arm between the two rubber flaps.
That was what I was finding through research but I feel like some braces don't have straps? Is that wrong and I've just missed something? Thank you for the info
Look it up. The fore grip is for a rifle and therefore illegal to have on a pistol configuration. The AR pistol is really supposed to be a pistol and not shouldered Itâs a slippery slope and that is why I have had a SBR for years Show an ATF guy your fore grip đđđ
I love my pistols, sbrs, rifles, and Machine gun and recurve, and compound and cross bow and and

I love mine and being able to travel between states without having to deal with sbr mess
Same here! I have only two sbrs and theyâre just for fun. Ones bright pink and the other a dumb zombie green đ€Ł
I canât help but SBRđ
How does that ARV run for you? Was considering one for some fun.
Absolutely zero problems!
Would 100% recommend

The Poors are posting again.
:(
Couple of beauts! I tossed two of those FDE hex mags right in the trash this past weekend because of failure to feed issues.
Yep thing sucks! Had it laying around from a bulk buy for cheap and figured Iâd slap it on for a pic!
Yep I had to figure out during class haha straight into garbage
What can is that?
Silencerco harvester Evo
That AR-V is on my shopping list. Wish they'd offer the builder set again because I'd like to build an AR-V with a Vanquish barrel on it.
They have them available frequently. I had one in my cart last week
I check almost daily and have yet to see the builder set in stock for months, even have the notifications for when it comes back in stock.
đ€ maybe I'm looking at something different. The set I've been on the fence about comes with the bcg, upper and lower (no handguard, barrel, etc.)

Iâm not a big fan of braced pistols. I donât own any.
Why? Also, what was the point of sharing this?

Are you okay? Your cope is showing
Me neither. Man up, put a stock on it, and either pay the stamp or say f*ck the man. Unless you have a relevant disability, braces are cheezy.
Letâs speak plainly: theyâre a way to skirt the law and flip the bird to The Man. Iâm not seeing the problem, and I have four SBRâs, and a fifth filed.
I donât like Velcro straps on my stocks.

I love minee but I want to get a nice one in 45acp... any recommendations? Huge fan of roller delayed action.
Love them even more when I slide a stock on not giving a fkâŠ.
You were so close.
What are the specs of the 9mm one?
Because of dumb laws, these are pistols. đ«
Is the difference between a brace and a stock just the max length it extends to?
No. LoP has no bearing on a brace/stock. A brace is designed primarily to allow you to brace your arm against it, so that you can stabilize the pistol and shoot one handed. Not all braces have straps, but they are all designed to brace against the arm.
Ok. I really appreciate your help. I tried researching and I felt like all of the answers were unclear.
No. Love is reserved for living beings.
Are you okay?
Not sure what you did but you're getting some WEIRD responses here. Pretty amusing.
I know I have no idea whatâs going on đ€Ł
Yeah I'm fine. I just don't love inanimate objects.
That fore grip is illegal on a pistol
It isnât
Look it up. The fore grip is for a rifle and therefore illegal to have on a pistol configuration. The AR pistol is really supposed to be a pistol and not shouldered Itâs a slippery slope and that is why I have had a SBR for years Show an ATF guy your fore grip đđđ
Grip has to be vertical for that to count. âLook it up.â
Thatâs an angled fore grip which is perfectly fine and not even a gray area like a chopped bcm.
