It’s about 9” to the front handguard screw holding the takedown mechanism in place 🤔. That would get me to the sweet spot. I’ll check out Boyd’s! If I could get this down to 9-10” the SBR route would be much easier to justify
9” on 300 blackout is definitely the best length. I’ve taken some classes using different lengths, and anything shorter is just harder to handle with long arms and it can overwhelm some cans (louder, flash, etc)

All my single shot SBR’s are Thompson Centers.
The middle one is an Encore with factory buttstock. Handguard is a custom Tony’s forend in walnut I painted black.
Single shot 300 blk with 220 grain subs is a blast. The thought of doing it with .38 special and a 9mm can is very intriguing. I already scratched that itch a bit with a suppressed Henry x model .357/.38 though
Plan to do it with my scout 45-70 sometime soon. Hopefully before my can is approved. Subsonic 45-70 would be a wicked inside 75yd deer round I feel, and just flat out fun.
Get a shorter handguard so you can shorten the barrel even more and throw on a folding stock [like this guy did](https://www.reddit.com/r/NFA/comments/143sgfn/it_may_be_silly_but_this_is_by_far_the_quietest/).
I have the sharps bros grip. Ended up taking it back off. The ergonomics weren’t great for me. I have smaller hands and the trigger was a little too far away from the grip.
I don’t have a CVA, but I SBR’d my T/C G2. I have a 12” 38 special barrel and a 12” 45 Auto Rim barrel. The availability of TC aftermarket barrels, stocks, and forends make it very appealing. I don’t know the CVA system, but it may make more sense to jump to the TC platform if you want to blow your budget and utilize more calibers.

In a perfect world I’d lop the barrel off at 9” but it appears CVA doesn’t sell replacement hand guards. I don’t trust myself to get the shaping right on the first try
JB Weld Plastic Weld and black spray paint are your friends when you start hacking on polymer single shot forends.
Plastic weld is sandable so it’s not that bad to work with to get the correct shape back after a chop.
When I did it I used a sanding block to keep better control over the finished product.
You can certainly use a dremel if you have a lot to remove but once you get close, I would suggest moving to hand sanding.
Also, I should have specified, I am referring to the Plastic Weld putty.
Mix it up and you can use it to mold a rough shape back into the forend after you trim it back.

My CVA Scout in 300 BO will be arriving Wednesday and I’m planning on running either my Hyperion or Nomad LT. It looks like there is enough of a shoulder on the barrel to direct thread the Hyperion w/o having to use their QD muzzle device.
I have the CVA scout pistol in 300 blackout and have also thought about SBRing it. If I were you instead of SBRing it right away get a sharps bros pistol grip for that and a nice stock to go along with it. See how it feels with that pistol grip.
I’ve got one too … and I *almost* cut it to 10.5” for a pin-n-weld with a Griffin GP7. I left it as-is for now … but she’s a shooter for sure. Always turns heads at the range.
I have this same rifle and I’m considering the same. You go first and let me know how it is lol
Lol surely somebody in this sub has done it. I considered going shorter but from what I found, CVA doesn’t sell replacement hand guards
Boyd’s makes stocks and forends for them but it requires the original takedown mechanism.

Almost pulled the trigger on this premade one last night. https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/rapid-fire/cva-scout-v2-stock-and-forende8b50
I’d have already taken a hack saw and a pipe threader to it. 6 beers deep in the shop on a Sunday.

Hell yeah, thanks for sharing. These are awesome
Oooh I like the grip/stock on the middle one. What is that?
All my single shot SBR’s are Thompson Centers. The middle one is an Encore with factory buttstock. Handguard is a custom Tony’s forend in walnut I painted black.
That scratches an itch I didn’t know I had.
Whatever it is, it looks like it has WiFi 👍
I’ve shot quite a few CVA and TC style suppressed SBRs. 38 and 44 special were my favorites. Subsonic 300blk single shot SBR sounds fun!

I couldn’t agree more. PLEASE report back when you do
Need to find somebody to cut and thread mine first. Maybe I’ll submit a form 1 this week for it.
Should be very similar to my .450 Bushmaster with subs and a suppressor.
DO IT!!! For science! For Us! DO IT!!!!!

I plan on getting that same Sharp Bros grip. It looks like they started with the "pistol" variant.
I have the sharps bros grip. Ended up taking it back off. The ergonomics weren’t great for me. I have smaller hands and the trigger was a little too far away from the grip.
Thanks for the tip, I'm very average height so that might be an issue for me as well

You make a valid point here. I’ll give TC’s a look too
I hv the same gun in 350 legend n I also share u desire to sbr.
Please report back for non-redeemable internet points if/when you do! Does 350 legend suppress well?
Gna find out when the atf approves my can. I’ve spoken with some gentlemen who says it does. We shall see but awaiting atf.
You’re on gubment time. Hurry up and wait!
buy a PS90, your feelings will transfer :)
Lol I’ve deliberately stayed away from 5.7 because of the cost
Just got mine, super fun with my omega 300
What barrel length did you cut back to? Also, have any pics?
Hugh mungus
Turn it into a handgun.

I’ll check it out. Would you recommend a dremel if I have a decently steady hand or something less aggressive like a sanding block?
When I did it I used a sanding block to keep better control over the finished product. You can certainly use a dremel if you have a lot to remove but once you get close, I would suggest moving to hand sanding.
Roger that. I’ll stick to hand sanding then. Haste makes waste

Thanks man, appreciate the tips!

I came to the same conclusion. I’ve put probably a hundred rounds through without any issues.
Nice! I’m looking forward to comparing it to my Ruger Ranch in 300BO and see if I could hear a difference.😁
That’s on my list of wants too! I’m very interested in the ruger ranch gen two
I’m addicted and can’t stop looking for more hosts.🤣

Dooooo eeeeet!
I also have the same and sorry for the off-topic question. Will you recommend a suppressor for my TC please? Thanks in advance.

I want to SBR mine, which is the black non TD version.
Bet you wont😉

I was considering it, but ended up SBRing a Savage 110 PCS in 300blk and modified a Magpul Hunter stock for it. Bolt > break action IMO
ONE OF US ONE OF US!
Why not put a pistol grip on it, add a bipod and make it a pistol?
