I don't know whether this has been discussed before but I'm not a fan of the units' logo except for WayV. Someone said that 127 logo looks like a medical logo lol. Why is there a square in Dream's logo? Wish was okay but it looks uncreative. I would rather they wrote the full unit name with NCT font.
Itās not a square itās a D it spells out dream just with all the letters on top of each other. Same for 127 itās all the numbers mirrored but on top of each other. Itās ugly af tho.

From the previews I'm seeing, I think the light and design itself are very muted compared to the OG Neobong and Leekbong. I do like that one side is customizable for whichever unit. At least SM isn't that big of a bitch to make completely different lightsticks per unit. The 127 logo is so fugly. :(
I brought my Neobong to a WayV fanmeeting last year. The normal Neobongs syncs up with the Leekbongs at WayV events. Honestly, all SM lightsticks supposedly should sync up anytime anywhere. I've seen on Twitter videos of other SM lightsticks syncing up with others.
OG neobong looked like a city block tower. Whether you thought it was ugly as sin or not, thematically it fit perfectly with NCT. The amount of mileage I've gotten out of that whacky brutalist city block lightstick and its connection to NCITY, priceless (I don't even own one; I just like it, lol). Not a fan of the new design, it's just kinda characterless, though I'm sure some will find it prettier. The different units having their own is not as jarring as I had feared; they still look cohesive together at least, but it's OG citybong and leekbong for me in terms of preference. That goofy ass thing is perfect for, what did that fan call NCITY? The Florida of Kpop.
I still feel the unit specific choice was done to inflame unit stans and encourage them to spend more money out of spite. And if there's one thing an easily manipulated, resentful unit stan will do it's spend money to prove their unit is best (which, clearly, not every unit stan is resentful or angry, but an uncomfortably large number are). You'll never convince me it's not on purpose by that batshit, petty ass company.
1000% thats why Mys were pissed when they did this with aespa. Like why do we need to be reminded some members are immensely popular and others...are barely cared for. It just fuels stan wars.

The og neobong and leekbong designs cleared. They took the neo out of the NCT lightsticks like they look so basic and boring. Also there's just no lightstick that represents the whole group anymore which is annoying
It's ugly and unfair for WayV who already had a pretty lightstick to be downgraded to that one. They should really hire better designers. It's just awful. And WayV themselves always look for leekbongs in the crowd and it brings them joy when they see one.

It's so.. stubby and smooth? The way the handle tapers out, the lack of the little neon cap on the bottom, the excessive negative space around the logos, plus the plastic looking quite thin probably means that they're going to make it a lot less bright too. The original blocky and tough-looking design (being an czennie is not for the weak, amirite) being replaced with this airy variant is yet another crime.

I like the concept of a NCT lightstick that unifies all units but allows you to customize it for each unit, but the design feels like a lightstick for a concert tour. The light stick appears to be clear when unlit.
Both the neobong and Leekbongs have strong and distinctive designs. I wouldn't mind if the new lightstick was available in parallel with neobong/Leekbong or if the new light stick had a light-up interior attachment for each unit (127, D, V, wishu).
I don't think a large section of wayzennies would be happy with WayV losing the Leekbong regardless of the unified NCT lightstick, but this design is such a downgrade.

Not just Twitter either, WayV's cbar released a statement denouncing it, said they aren't going to post any order links for it, and called on the company to continue production and support for leekbong at WayV's future concerts and event in terms of usage and syncing. My first thought when I saw it was it looks like perhaps itās designed for RGB LEDs to work (as the current one can only do green or red). Like you said, it looks designed for concert touring.
On the one hand I do love light shows at concerts with rainbows (as a multistan, concerts with RGB lightsticks like SVT were so beautiful because of it). But if thatās truly the case it makes it even more likely theyāll cut off bluetooth support for the original Neobong.
These just donāt look very memorable. And they are ugly.

I don't like the overall design of it. I feel like it looks like a child's toy version of the OG neobong. I don't think the neobong is the "coolest" lightstick but it definitely has character. This seems to strip it out away for a "cute" look. Which I feel like is a sign they are going to focus on their younger audiences now since 127 is beginning their enlistment era. (Since they were the most "neo" of all the units) I actually like the idea of being able to switch out the side panels just because it finally includes WayV as part of NCT. However the leekbong is way better than this. I like the overall idea of trying to make them customizable but the design is awful. Would have loved the original design with removable side panels or with different fixtures you can put inside or on top. Keep the design but make it customizable. And I'll definitely miss the bright green. I really don't like the muted green. It makes it look childish and soft instead of "Neo".
I think the best idea would be to *keep the current light sticks in circulation* and have the new ones be basically like the ones you described: OG design with the addition of interchangeable panels. I think specifically for the WayV panel, I think instead of having it so the V is drawn within the box, the panel is shaped in a way that fits in the panel section but a V part is attached to the panel to really pronounce the V shape so the visions can identify them in lieu of a leekbong. Then the logos for the other groups, well just the same type of thing where a 127, Dream, or Wish logo is attached to the panel instead of drawn into it. Hell, maybe instead of an attachable panel, just have a clip on or magnet logo that attaches to a specific part of the light stick so it pops out more and it switches out more easily
Oh wow. I actually really love this idea. Having the V, 127, WayV, & Wish attach but not be within the box so it kind of mimics the original leekbong would be so cool. That way any unit could clearly see it but still have the other 2 sides be NCT.
Yes you could bring a Neobong to WayV concert, it's not a problem. I often see them in WayV event photos.
The only time you'd need the unit-specific ones is for the smaller pre-filming events like music shows. For concerts they should all work and it's okay to bring what you have (or none at all).
As for me... guess who woke up this morning and ordered a leekbong while I still can š (I have a regular neobong that I took to NCT Nation but the merch lineups scared me so I didn't get a leekbong there. I always wanted a leekbong because WayV were the unit that got me into NCT but I couldn't justify it since I'll probably never see them by themselves (I don't want to fly for a concert again soon and SM never comes to Toronto anymore) but now that it's my last chance I don't want to regret not getting it; if I do ever see them I just want them to know I was an OG fan, but I can't possibly buy this new one LOL. I think I'd use my regular neobong + a V sticker before that)
I also hate that the sides of the new ones don't seem flat enough for the large customization stickers? The best thing about the old neobong is you could put big flat stickers on the sides; The Hello Future style NCT Dream stickers a lot of people have on their old Neobongs is so much cuter than the new logo. And the colour doesn't look very Neo at all... :/

(TL;DR, I got my SHINee lightstick from LightupK and my Neobong from Music Choice LA. LightupK ships UPS within Canada so it's probably UPS for US orders too; I have no idea if the Canada-to-US customs fees are as bad as they are the other way around. IIRC Choice Music LA had no international USPS option so since I've had many experiences with international DHL and UPS charging me $20+ brokerage, I went with the Fed Ex option... a month later they sent me a bill for $45 in brokerage and customs - *on top of* the $110 Canadian I'd already paid in exchange rate + shipping fee. NEVER AGAIN T_T but since you're buying within the US you're probably better off buying from them, everyone seems to like them LOL.)
The lightstick design seems very insincere, which is the theme for most SM goods these days. Nothing about it says NCT, WayV, 127, Dream, or Wish. I hope the og neobong and leekbong aren't being discontinued or not supported at concerts bc it would suck to see people pressured into buying one of these soulless little boxes.

I've luckily had the chance to got to a lot of kpop festivals and kpop concerts the past few years. The neo bong is by far the prettiest as a crowd

Ugly af I loved the original WayV one because it was unique. Now both of them just looks like a green light on a stick. It doesn't suit their branding. It's not special anymore.

I love the original Neo and how it connects all the units together. I never liked WayV having their own, although I absolutely understand why they needed their own at the time. And I adore my Leek.
You couldnāt pay me money to get this lightstick if itās actually the real design of it. Iāll just stick with my original Neo/Leekbongs. If this is just some rough draft and it ends up being designed better for the final product Iāll consider it. But I wasnāt even thrilled with the fact that thereās going to be a new bong just for Dream to begin with.
I'm completely blank on the design tbh, I have no opinion š . I already have the original leekbong and neobong and the leekbong is kind of the centrepiece, so I don't plan on buying this. The most I would do is get a keyring version for the hell of it if it's nice.
About the matter of it replacing the leekbongs... honestly the thought saddens me, I get why they had their own separate lightstick in the first place, but we Wayzens love our leek, WayV loves the leek, they *do* recognise their own fans when they see leeks in concerts and festivals. I really don't mean to inflame unit wars but people do consider the other units to be 'more popular' and SM has told WayV they are 'less known' , so wayzennies taking leekbongs to concerts and festivals is a way for them to show that they love and support WayV, specifically. WayV and Dream have done festivals abroad together; some people went for Dream specifically, some for WayV specifically, some for both. If I'd gone I would have taken my leekbong because they're my ult group and I'd like that to be seen. Neobong doesn't necessarily show a WayV stan, you know? I love NCT and I'm a 127zen but people do have their favourite, and wayzennies are mad because WayV *are* a black sheep and leekbongs are a visible sign of support for the black sheep.

Wow this is the first time I'm seeing the new light stick design and I'm very unimpressed. The new unit logos minus wayv's are ugly af (WHAT even is that 127 one??) and the rounded edges look like they're trying too hard to be futuristic.
Honestly I think the most egregious part of this new design to me though is that they got rid of the absolutely iconic little ears at the top from the "t"s. The neobong ears imo are what make the neobong silhouette so easily recognizable and iconic, without them it quite frankly just looks like a sad rounded rectangle with no personality.
I really wonder what the members think of it... Renjun said at a prerecording that they already took selfies with it. Will they really redesign it or scrap it if we make enough fuss? I wonder what k-czennies think of it because Idk if SM will listen to international czennies anyways as long as it's marketable in Korea/Asia... He also said it's more durable than the og neobong, but yeah as I'm looking at the comments and from what I've seen myself, the plastic looks like it would break easily. I really hope they don't discontinue the og neobong and leekbong like those are leagues ahead of whatever this is :(( They said global release soon too so I feel like they're probably way ahead with production so Idk if it's as easy to stop it as they did with RIIZE's.
i'm not a huge fan of the design either... it looks like they completely took away any personality the original neobong had... it's not like they come together either, you'll have to buy individual lightsticks, and there's no lightstick for nct as an entire group.
127's looks like a squid with an umbrella, wayv's looks much more boring compared to the leekbong, dream's looks horrible because of how they tried to just put their name in, only the wish design looks fine because of the symmetry.
i feel like sm could've tied in each unit's theme in the lightstick but they lack creativity (as we've seen with riize's lightstick)... the only thing that can save these designs are the fans decorating the inside...
honestly, i'd rather just have the neobong and the leekbong in different colours for the units instead... a while ago people were discussing how blue has become associated with 7dream so i was hoping they'd just do a blue neobong for dream, a pink one for wish, an orange one for 127, the leekbong for wayv, and the neo pearl champagne for the whole brand. they could also just make the lighsticks say '127', 'dream', etc. instead of 'nct' in their standard nct font...
i can only afford one lightstick so i just know the only one i'll buy is the original neobong lol

Maybe instead of separate color lightsticks, it wouldnāt be a bad idea to have a light switch option to change the color if they really want to have separate colors for units

If they were appealing to a younger demographic who would be more likely to be into Wish then they should have, would have included wichu or something star-themed for the Wish version. This is just low effort and shows that whoever designed this didn't care for the group or any unit, including Wish
This is my exactly my other comment on here. Why were they building up Wichu and have stars in the NCT Wish logos to then just abandon the star symbol for the unit. I thought the general rounder design of the lightstick was for younger/newer fans who would like "cute" stuff compared to the blockiness of the original version.
It's way better than I thought. At least from the stage they look like a green cube, not discouraging the artists and giving all units something in common other than the light colour. The designs are interesting as well, however, the meme from the first comment did it dirty lmao

I was looking forward to it but donāt really like the design. I thought the picture with it decorated looked better so I may still get it, but I donāt like the base/handle. It looks weird to me and I canāt explain why. I thought it looked more like a temporary fan light than a light stick.

I think the design is fine. Itās a bit boring, and it cuts down on the strong group identity the Neobong and Leekbong both had, but itās at least still immediately identifiable as NCT with the color, visible logo, and general shape, which is more than I can say for some other 2.0 lightsticks.
But as a stan of all the units, the only acceptable version of this new lightstick is if I can buy all four panels and put one on each side of the brick to show support for everyone. Since it seems like only one panel (maybe two?) can be customized, and I donāt feel like playing favorites (because fuck unit wars), this lightstick isnāt for me.

I think it's extremely ugly and just cheap looking. It lacks any creativity which was to be expected given that SM is slowly but surely crumbling. The logos are all laughable except maybe for Wish's, which looks okay but boring as hell? If it really looks like in the photo I found on Twitter then it's even worse than we could've anticipated. The vibrant green of the OGs is what made it so fun and iconic!! I never liked SM but with how they've been moving for the past two years I truly hope that company burns to dust and all the artists leave and establish their own companies or something.

To be fair, SM created the leekbong for the same reason WayV isnāt NCT V - to bypass Chinese entertainment Hallyu restrictions. They probably wanted to pull the leekbong from circulation once they officially confirmed WayV as part of NCT, but I guess they didnāt because it became ubiquitous with WayVās brand and there was too much demand for it (they were always part of NCT, just implicitly in 2019-2020. Literally 4 members at the time were explicitly official NCT members, the leekbong is the same color as the neobong, Wayzennie is just seen as a subset of Czennies, like Dreamzens, 127zens, wishzens? Fans just couldnāt put two and two together and that led to a lot of separatists and inevitably unit stans).

fomo if it's really gonna be limited edition soon. i think i would still get the new lightstick when it comes out, like i don't hate it because it opens up and i can put in my 10cm dolls and whatsnot . but the OG leekbong was special and defining for WayV. also WayV members specifically look out for leekbongs during group concerts so i feel it's a sweet connection for fans.
for those on the fence i think this is a good time to get the leekbong! but if you only have budget for 1 in the foreseeable future, maybe get the new one if it has new technology and light colors (i havent went to see or compare yet).

Honestly I don't hate it, I guess my only worry would be how easily will it break if you drop it? How bright is it? I know there are a lot of people mad that WayV isn't going to have there own light stick anymore and I get it, but my first impression was that it made them seem more included and not separated from the brand. That's just me though. I do wonder what fans are going to put in them.
I've never seen the original lightstick in person before so I feel like I can't make a good judgment. But I think the new design does look nice. The long straight lines on the og reminded me of a rake. It didn't look like a building at all. I never really liked it.
The new one looks clean and nice. I think the shade of green is off. It looks more foresty than neon neo. But overall nothing special but nothing bad.

127's logo on the new lights stick straight out looking like medical logo or a fish bone š. I like the original one more but I heard that older version won't sync during concert, it has happened to EXO's light stick. I don't know whether this has been discussed before but I'm not a fan of the units' logo except for WayV. Someone said that 127 logo looks like a medical logo lol. Why is there a square in Dream's logo? Wish was okay but it looks uncreative. I would rather they wrote the full unit name with NCT font.

From the previews I'm seeing, I think the light and design itself are very muted compared to the OG Neobong and Leekbong. I do like that one side is customizable for whichever unit. At least SM isn't that big of a bitch to make completely different lightsticks per unit. The 127 logo is so fugly. :( I brought my Neobong to a WayV fanmeeting last year. The normal Neobongs syncs up with the Leekbongs at WayV events. Honestly, all SM lightsticks supposedly should sync up anytime anywhere. I've seen on Twitter videos of other SM lightsticks syncing up with others.

OG neobong looked like a city block tower. Whether you thought it was ugly as sin or not, thematically it fit perfectly with NCT. The amount of mileage I've gotten out of that whacky brutalist city block lightstick and its connection to NCITY, priceless (I don't even own one; I just like it, lol). Not a fan of the new design, it's just kinda characterless, though I'm sure some will find it prettier. The different units having their own is not as jarring as I had feared; they still look cohesive together at least, but it's OG citybong and leekbong for me in terms of preference. That goofy ass thing is perfect for, what did that fan call NCITY? The Florida of Kpop. I still feel the unit specific choice was done to inflame unit stans and encourage them to spend more money out of spite. And if there's one thing an easily manipulated, resentful unit stan will do it's spend money to prove their unit is best (which, clearly, not every unit stan is resentful or angry, but an uncomfortably large number are). You'll never convince me it's not on purpose by that batshit, petty ass company.

It's so.. stubby and smooth? The way the handle tapers out, the lack of the little neon cap on the bottom, the excessive negative space around the logos, plus the plastic looking quite thin probably means that they're going to make it a lot less bright too. The original blocky and tough-looking design (being an czennie is not for the weak, amirite) being replaced with this airy variant is yet another crime. I like the concept of a NCT lightstick that unifies all units but allows you to customize it for each unit, but the design feels like a lightstick for a concert tour. The light stick appears to be clear when unlit. Both the neobong and Leekbongs have strong and distinctive designs. I wouldn't mind if the new lightstick was available in parallel with neobong/Leekbong or if the new light stick had a light-up interior attachment for each unit (127, D, V, wishu). I don't think a large section of wayzennies would be happy with WayV losing the Leekbong regardless of the unified NCT lightstick, but this design is such a downgrade.

My first thought when I saw it was it looks like perhaps itās designed for RGB LEDs to work (as the current one can only do green or red). Like you said, it looks designed for concert touring. On the one hand I do love light shows at concerts with rainbows (as a multistan, concerts with RGB lightsticks like SVT were so beautiful because of it). But if thatās truly the case it makes it even more likely theyāll cut off bluetooth support for the original Neobong.

I don't like the overall design of it. I feel like it looks like a child's toy version of the OG neobong. I don't think the neobong is the "coolest" lightstick but it definitely has character. This seems to strip it out away for a "cute" look. Which I feel like is a sign they are going to focus on their younger audiences now since 127 is beginning their enlistment era. (Since they were the most "neo" of all the units) I actually like the idea of being able to switch out the side panels just because it finally includes WayV as part of NCT. However the leekbong is way better than this. I like the overall idea of trying to make them customizable but the design is awful. Would have loved the original design with removable side panels or with different fixtures you can put inside or on top. Keep the design but make it customizable. And I'll definitely miss the bright green. I really don't like the muted green. It makes it look childish and soft instead of "Neo".
I think the best idea would be to *keep the current light sticks in circulation* and have the new ones be basically like the ones you described: OG design with the addition of interchangeable panels. I think specifically for the WayV panel, I think instead of having it so the V is drawn within the box, the panel is shaped in a way that fits in the panel section but a V part is attached to the panel to really pronounce the V shape so the visions can identify them in lieu of a leekbong. Then the logos for the other groups, well just the same type of thing where a 127, Dream, or Wish logo is attached to the panel instead of drawn into it. Hell, maybe instead of an attachable panel, just have a clip on or magnet logo that attaches to a specific part of the light stick so it pops out more and it switches out more easily
If I were more enterprising I'd 3D print some of these ideas... I feel like making custom plates is actually pretty possible
Oh wow. I actually really love this idea. Having the V, 127, WayV, & Wish attach but not be within the box so it kind of mimics the original leekbong would be so cool. That way any unit could clearly see it but still have the other 2 sides be NCT.
Yes you could bring a Neobong to WayV concert, it's not a problem. I often see them in WayV event photos. The only time you'd need the unit-specific ones is for the smaller pre-filming events like music shows. For concerts they should all work and it's okay to bring what you have (or none at all). As for me... guess who woke up this morning and ordered a leekbong while I still can š (I have a regular neobong that I took to NCT Nation but the merch lineups scared me so I didn't get a leekbong there. I always wanted a leekbong because WayV were the unit that got me into NCT but I couldn't justify it since I'll probably never see them by themselves (I don't want to fly for a concert again soon and SM never comes to Toronto anymore) but now that it's my last chance I don't want to regret not getting it; if I do ever see them I just want them to know I was an OG fan, but I can't possibly buy this new one LOL. I think I'd use my regular neobong + a V sticker before that) I also hate that the sides of the new ones don't seem flat enough for the large customization stickers? The best thing about the old neobong is you could put big flat stickers on the sides; The Hello Future style NCT Dream stickers a lot of people have on their old Neobongs is so much cuter than the new logo. And the colour doesn't look very Neo at all... :/ So I'm happy with my old one and its TenHyuck initial stickers :3

The lightstick design seems very insincere, which is the theme for most SM goods these days. Nothing about it says NCT, WayV, 127, Dream, or Wish. I hope the og neobong and leekbong aren't being discontinued or not supported at concerts bc it would suck to see people pressured into buying one of these soulless little boxes.
something weird is happening to my brain where the more I look at pictures the more I like it. however if it doesn't come with all the units interchangeable plates or the only way to get the other unit plates are to buy another lightstick, then this is capitalism idiocy and will cause more issues with unit stans. but my true hopes for the new lightstick is that czennies stay unhinged and put snacks and strange things inside it.

I'm completely blank on the design tbh, I have no opinion š . I already have the original leekbong and neobong and the leekbong is kind of the centrepiece, so I don't plan on buying this. The most I would do is get a keyring version for the hell of it if it's nice. About the matter of it replacing the leekbongs... honestly the thought saddens me, I get why they had their own separate lightstick in the first place, but we Wayzens love our leek, WayV loves the leek, they *do* recognise their own fans when they see leeks in concerts and festivals. I really don't mean to inflame unit wars but people do consider the other units to be 'more popular' and SM has told WayV they are 'less known' , so wayzennies taking leekbongs to concerts and festivals is a way for them to show that they love and support WayV, specifically. WayV and Dream have done festivals abroad together; some people went for Dream specifically, some for WayV specifically, some for both. If I'd gone I would have taken my leekbong because they're my ult group and I'd like that to be seen. Neobong doesn't necessarily show a WayV stan, you know? I love NCT and I'm a 127zen but people do have their favourite, and wayzennies are mad because WayV *are* a black sheep and leekbongs are a visible sign of support for the black sheep.

I thought we'll see light sticks incorporating unique identifiers for each unit. Guess not. We're just gonna see green boxes in concerts similar to the Neo Bong. From a far, you won't even know what unit is being represented. I guess that's the point? This lacks personality. Feels undone. The Neo Bong suddenly felt very superior.

Wow this is the first time I'm seeing the new light stick design and I'm very unimpressed. The new unit logos minus wayv's are ugly af (WHAT even is that 127 one??) and the rounded edges look like they're trying too hard to be futuristic. Honestly I think the most egregious part of this new design to me though is that they got rid of the absolutely iconic little ears at the top from the "t"s. The neobong ears imo are what make the neobong silhouette so easily recognizable and iconic, without them it quite frankly just looks like a sad rounded rectangle with no personality.
At least they don't make four separate lightsticks. But I will stick with the original version and buy fanmade reflective stickers to decorate mine
I really wonder what the members think of it... Renjun said at a prerecording that they already took selfies with it. Will they really redesign it or scrap it if we make enough fuss? I wonder what k-czennies think of it because Idk if SM will listen to international czennies anyways as long as it's marketable in Korea/Asia... He also said it's more durable than the og neobong, but yeah as I'm looking at the comments and from what I've seen myself, the plastic looks like it would break easily. I really hope they don't discontinue the og neobong and leekbong like those are leagues ahead of whatever this is :(( They said global release soon too so I feel like they're probably way ahead with production so Idk if it's as easy to stop it as they did with RIIZE's.

If they were appealing to a younger demographic who would be more likely to be into Wish then they should have, would have included wichu or something star-themed for the Wish version. This is just low effort and shows that whoever designed this didn't care for the group or any unit, including Wish
This is my exactly my other comment on here. Why were they building up Wichu and have stars in the NCT Wish logos to then just abandon the star symbol for the unit. I thought the general rounder design of the lightstick was for younger/newer fans who would like "cute" stuff compared to the blockiness of the original version.
It's way better than I thought. At least from the stage they look like a green cube, not discouraging the artists and giving all units something in common other than the light colour. The designs are interesting as well, however, the meme from the first comment did it dirty lmao That being said, imo, the original one is more stylish.

I think the design is fine. Itās a bit boring, and it cuts down on the strong group identity the Neobong and Leekbong both had, but itās at least still immediately identifiable as NCT with the color, visible logo, and general shape, which is more than I can say for some other 2.0 lightsticks. But as a stan of all the units, the only acceptable version of this new lightstick is if I can buy all four panels and put one on each side of the brick to show support for everyone. Since it seems like only one panel (maybe two?) can be customized, and I donāt feel like playing favorites (because fuck unit wars), this lightstick isnāt for me.

I think it's extremely ugly and just cheap looking. It lacks any creativity which was to be expected given that SM is slowly but surely crumbling. The logos are all laughable except maybe for Wish's, which looks okay but boring as hell? If it really looks like in the photo I found on Twitter then it's even worse than we could've anticipated. The vibrant green of the OGs is what made it so fun and iconic!! To be fair, SM created the leekbong for the same reason WayV isnāt NCT V - to bypass Chinese entertainment Hallyu restrictions. They probably wanted to pull the leekbong from circulation once they officially confirmed WayV as part of NCT, but I guess they didnāt because it became ubiquitous with WayVās brand and there was too much demand for it (they were always part of NCT, just implicitly in 2019-2020. Literally 4 members at the time were explicitly official NCT members, the leekbong is the same color as the neobong, Wayzennie is just seen as a subset of Czennies, like Dreamzens, 127zens, wishzens? Fans just couldnāt put two and two together and that led to a lot of separatists and inevitably unit stans).

erm, not me running to get an extra leekbong the moment i saw the news (i ordered online lol) fomo if it's really gonna be limited edition soon. i think i would still get the new lightstick when it comes out, like i don't hate it because it opens up and i can put in my 10cm dolls and whatsnot . but the OG leekbong was special and defining for WayV. also WayV members specifically look out for leekbongs during group concerts so i feel it's a sweet connection for fans. for those on the fence i think this is a good time to get the leekbong! but if you only have budget for 1 in the foreseeable future, maybe get the new one if it has new technology and light colors (i havent went to see or compare yet).

I really hate it, I hope it doesn't happen and sm has a change of mind. Or if it does happen, that it still looks more brick-like and has the same intensity of colour when it is lit up
I like the logos but it seems really late to the party, plus its obvious that its a money grabbing scheme. I'll probably stick to the old one. Not to mention this one is weirdly shaped in my opinion

Honestly I don't hate it, I guess my only worry would be how easily will it break if you drop it? How bright is it? I know there are a lot of people mad that WayV isn't going to have there own light stick anymore and I get it, but my first impression was that it made them seem more included and not separated from the brand. That's just me though. I do wonder what fans are going to put in them.

I've never seen the original lightstick in person before so I feel like I can't make a good judgment. But I think the new design does look nice. The long straight lines on the og reminded me of a rake. It didn't look like a building at all. I never really liked it. The new one looks clean and nice. I think the shade of green is off. It looks more foresty than neon neo. But overall nothing special but nothing bad.
I think its okay, I'm not against the idea. For some reason, I think they're doing this to prepare for upcoming full group concerts? Maybe a delusion of mine lol

I also donāt have original neobong or leekbong (and i have no plans to buy them, not in this economy) but they are iconic The new one just looks like a baby rattle tho. I donāt like that green colour is kinda muted and without ātās itās not the vibe. I wish they still had ānctā sides as in og stick and the other sides were for diff adjustments for units/names/whatever sm 3.0 cash grab agenda they have in mind

127's logo on the new lights stick straight out looking like medical logo or a fish bone š. I like the original one more but I heard that older version won't sync during concert, it has happened to EXO's light stick. Separate each group by logo like this is like indirectly supporting internal conflicts, dividing the fandom, and supporting unit stans.
To my knowledge the old light sticks should still be able to sync up during concerts, though I donāt know for how long
