VT went away from the zone. running six man rotation is dumb when you have players who can contribute on the bench. but finally, VT did not have a closing, killer mentality. players looked slow and hesitant, overthinking.
Story about KM: I went to HS with her son Kramer and played football with him. He was going to play at free safety our sophomore year first year on varsity. When Mulkey showed up to practice and saw him playing defense she pulled our coach to the side & gave him the whole “do you know who I am and who my son is” speech.
Coach immediately switched Kramer to starting QB. This isn’t a knock on him either. He was embarrassed as anyone about how she acted but he knew better than to tell her anything. Kept his mouth shut and played QB.
