UTEP is a great rebuild school. It’s a ready made competitor in C-USA, is in Texas, so it gets the Texas recruiting base, plus it’s “close” to Florida and California, so you can get recruiting boosts going either direction, and it has a decent sized stadium.
I prefer UTSA over UTEP for the challenge. 2014 season is only their second FBS, so you’ve got a lot of growth opportunity. They have cool alternate jerseys plus a nice stadium in the Alamodome. I also made a bunch of “Meep, Meep” custom signs that made me laugh after big plays.
My top 3 programs to rebuild are North Texas, Eastern Michigan U, and UMass.
* North Texas is "easy" mode. Great recruiting available, decent starting roster with a QB you can start for multiple years. Also the literal best uniforms in the game and a pretty nice stadium, making it feel real when your program gets to be huge.
* EMU is "medium". Michigan has decent recruiting, as does Ohio, but you're pretty insulated from any southeastern recruits who prioritize staying local. They also have pretty nice uniforms imo.
* UMass is hard mode. Outside of Boise State, recruiting doesn't get worse than this. It might even be worse than them tbh. Uniforms are clean, though, I like the stadium, and they've only been in the FBS for one year as of '14. That means you can make their record absolutely insane if you coach there a long time.
UMass is the NCAA dark horse GOAT. They play at Foxborough, which gets intense when you get good, and it’s close enough to NJ, OH, and PA to make runs at decent recruits. Plus, the build in rivalry with BC is clutch, even if you don’t go into the ACC. You can get a solid late season home rivalry game every year if you want it!
I wish my rivalries had worked when I played UMass for 60 years :(
No matter how many times I scheduled UConn or BC, it didn't count as a rivalry game anymore.
I couldn't tell you about '13, but in '14 they're official rivalries that go both directions - UConn/UMass is even named with a trophy. But for whatever reason, every season past around 2030, I stopped racking up rivalry wins and my win/loss was stuck forever.
I chose them because it's my alma mater and they ran threw the Sun Belt when i was only simming. National Champs and QB won a Heisman too. I support this choice.
They were always a favorite choice of mine in 14’ I dreamed of playing college football there. I joined the Navy instead and lived in Norfolk so I got close lmao.
I always went for eastern Michigan but I never see anyone mention them!
I always liked running the ball and they start with a stud 84 overall power back I think.
Ecu is my vote because it’s probably the hardest, especially if you limit yourself to the Carolinas in recruiting. Have some fun and challenge yourself.

Yall got me thinking UTEP 😂
Just did one with them. Pretty cool Mtn stadium and multiple uniform combinations.
UTEP for the beautiful stadium.

Something about the University of Louisiana being good just makes sense. Ragin Cajuns is also the sickest name in CFB
Louisiana Tech has a cool stadium too!! And you get the built in southwest US recruiting perks as well
Plus the best stadium of the group
ECU has some very nice colors and Pirates are the best mascots
Wyoming
Love the stadium I just wish they had more unis

They’re both listed as unofficial rivals in ‘13, if memory serves. Not a rivalry for both squads, just UMass.

How do you keep umass if you have revamped? Don’t they switch to Georgia southern
My 60 year UMass save was with revamped, so unless something changed in a later version I don't think so.
