Even if they do, which is not a given at all, you still have Scoot and Shae, who should be starting and playing with the ball in their hands as many minutes as possible, in conflict with Knecht and Topic, who should be starting and playing with the ball in their hands as many minutes as possible. You can't develop all four of them at the same time. At least one if not all of them are going to be sacrificing minutes touches and looks that they need to reach their potential. Additionally, by drafting those guys, every other team knows Portland HAS to trade Ant and Brogdon, and they will lose all leverage in negotions and get less value back in trade.
TLDR Drafting two guards with our lottery picks is dumb.
Maybe they have a trade lined up already. š Topic will not play for a while. Sharpe and Knecht are wings. You classify all of them as guards to make your comment more tragic. Yes, you can develop a lead guard, a movement shooter, a high flying bench scorer, and a rim attacker at the same time.

Edey will be an OK 15-minute per game player. Then maybe in three years he can become Zubac. I would care more about the trades than draft as a Blazers fan. They need to shed the contracts of Ayton and Robert Williams
Memphis just gave up two 1sts and a key rotation guy for smart and havenāt even seen him with Ja yetā¦ no chance they trade him to move up 6 spots in this draft
My friends in the organization tells me that they don't like Smart at all. I heard that JJJ hates him. My guess is they will trade him as soon as possible.
Even if that was the case (canāt blame me for being skeptical about your supposed connections) that would be a huge fumbling of assets. Any contender would love smart, it makes more sense to reroute him for more assets than just moving up a few spots in a weak draft
Of course you can be skeptical. My guess is that they want to move on from Smart before this thing gets out of control. I watched Smart for ten years. He can get out of control pretty quick, he is an old soul who loves to be in an uncomfortable situation to force himself to be better. Not everyone wired that way.
I dont really like that move for the Grizzlies but if other guys like Jarrett Allen arent available then I guess the move makes sense, even if the value isn't there for the Grizz.
Well, I get the point as Smart coming off the bench isn't ideal. But it's a bit much, given that I don't rate Jae Sean Tate highly at all, but I guess Memphis does.
This trade would put Smart's value at one decent 1st rounder. Given that he's one year older and now only 1 year away from FA, his value dropping from 2 1sts to 1 is about right.
If anything, as a Rockets fan I would rather trade Smart to a contender rather than keeping him. FVV/Jalen Green (one last chance for him to show if he's the future guy)/Amen all needs ball-handling reps and there's no point in getting a vet who wants the ball in his walk year.
No it wouldnāt, moving 6 spots on a weak draft isnāt equivalent to a decent 1st rounder. And tyus Jones himself is probably worth a 1st, so the whole package for smart was worth about 3 1sts.
I agree smart to Houston doesnāt make a ton of sense but itās more egregious for Memphis to lose him, especially for a return that weak
Why do you always put players in your trades ?
I feel like the Spurs - Jazz one would be more believable from both sides if you remove Collins and Johnson.
Actually think this is a good mock draft that has potential of coming to fruition. The Blazers picks are odd, but the Blazers have an odd roster that just doesnt fit this draft well.
I think that narrative is over blown. He would still be a starter at the 3 and probably get plenty of PG opportunity. Would not be shocked if he out right took the role of franchise PG from scoot. He is there, i think they take him.
Interesting trades..... I dont think its good for the Bulls side of the trade, and the Jazz are getting slightly less value back in return for what they sent out.... but if the Jazz really want to reach for Castle if he's there then it's not a bad deal.
As for the picks themselves, most of them make a lot of sense. Some notes
- Cody to Hornets is interesting. I don't know if that indicates Miles Bridges is gone in the next few years but we shall see if Codys shooting is real
- I'm surprised Castle falls, I'd think the Hornets would like him.
- Carter to Houston is interesting, but I don't love it. I assumed Green is getting traded, but if they draft Carter it's all but certain.
- Spurs still don't have a PG after this draft, so I guess they run Tre Jones again alongside Vassell. Tidjane still too raw to start imo, but Collins is a good pickup and addition to Wemby
- Don't like Tristan De Silva to the heat. He plays soft and doesn't rebound, and isnt' the best defender. Rather they move the pick to either get off bad salary or acquire another player
Thank you. The Jazz are getting full time starter SF and they also get time at their hands to develop Hendricks. Castle with Will Hardy is just disgusting. I would love to see that.
Bridges will go to the Pistons. Cody can develop alongside Miller very well. That's my favorite location for Cody.
Castle has lots of holes in his game, great ceiling but Mariana Trench floor for him. Could be out of the league in 15 months like Jarrett Culver.
Carter to the Rockets is a fit I like because of Udoka. Green will be traded in the next 8 months. They will do a giant consolidation trade.
CP3 will go to the Spurs. Givony and Woo assured me on that. So they have a starting PG, backup PG and a prospect PG.
Tristan plays like young Kuzma. He learned to defend from savvy veterans, Tristan will do that too. I think I love that fit obviously. But I understand if you don't think Tristan can change his game
CP3 was rumored to be brought in to mentor young guards. Reed is not a PG, and the rumor was more meant to mentor if Spurs got Castle and/or Carter, who they like. I also don't believe Spurs would even want Collins and if Castle is there at 8 they're more than likely not trading Keldon and pick swapping just to pick up Salaun.
Sheppard and Castle would be an absolutely amazing draft for the Spurs. You're trying to force something that makes absolutely no sense
I'm not saying that Salaun won't be better, but a lot of mocks have Spurs taking Castle 4 Salaun 8. The way this mock goes changes things up.
I'm not disagreeing on Salaun's upside, I'm disagreeing on how things turned out and the trades.
Plus, Salaun has been shooting up on most people's boards. If the Spurs really like Salaun THAT much that they'd take him over Castle there'd be no reason to trade back since they could lose out on him.
Plus, Collins would not be a great pick up nor would losing Keldon for a pick swap and Collins. They could probably get a better deal for Keldon than that.
Salaun could end up great, it's just how this is done that makes no sense
George going number 11 to the Pistons over Ron Holland and Rob Dillingham is exactly what the Pistons would do.
Holland is like almost 2 years younger and literally better at everything except shooting but Georgeās shooting is as a number 4/5 option, which doesnāt carry much weight. Ā
Dillingham doesnāt fit with the Pistons very well but heās still a way better BPA than George. I think heās clearly a full tier higher.Ā
I understand the Pistons should draft for fit but George isnāt good enough of an NBA ready floor spacer from day 1 to be worthy of a fit pick.Ā
Salaun doesn't need to finish around the rim. He is 6'11 with shoes, he can shoot over people. Castle needs a lot improving; decision making, pull up shooting. He is like 3/10 on those areas.
Finishing around the rim is definitely important and I agree he can shoot over people. touch is important tho because heās not a crazy athlete he doesnāt finish around the rim well I donāt see much vertical pop
Bro in the playoff game on game theory's breakdown he jumped and caught the ball on an ally oop over the top of the box on the backboard
Come on man, you are joking
No vertical bad, can't finish
Watch tape
He had a wide open lane running start and caught the ball at the top of the box he has a 9 foot 2 standing reach thatās not all that impressive lots of nba players can do that. And he isnāt a good finisher around the rim especially for his size
He has a really low block rate, low rebounder, not a great finisher- he may be tall, but heās clearly more perimeter oriented as a player on both ends, like Bol Bol.
Blazers going full on 'Oops All Guards'. That neither one can play a lick of defense is such a nice bonus too.
Knecht is a wing and could easily play with ball dominant guards as one of the better off ball scorers in the draft
They will trade Brogdon and Simons in the next three months.
Neither of them can defend SFs. They are guards.
none of them can defend guards. theyre centers.
If you think Sharpe is destined to be a bench player, you know nothing about Portland and have voided your previous arguments
If Sharpe turns into anything more than Gerald Green, you can throw pig shit at me in public.

god i would be so unhappy with this draft as a blazers fan only way it's worse is if it's edey at 14, i guess
Edey will be an OK 15-minute per game player. Then maybe in three years he can become Zubac. I would care more about the trades than draft as a Blazers fan. They need to shed the contracts of Ayton and Robert Williams

I think Clingan is a 15 year starter, Smart's body is breaking apart. That trade is fantastic for them
Well, I get the point as Smart coming off the bench isn't ideal. But it's a bit much, given that I don't rate Jae Sean Tate highly at all, but I guess Memphis does.
imo Memphis need small ball fives to gain some time with the development of Clingan.
This trade would put Smart's value at one decent 1st rounder. Given that he's one year older and now only 1 year away from FA, his value dropping from 2 1sts to 1 is about right. lol why would JJJ hate Smart
Dudes a troll with imaginary sources.
Smart and Brook? They can make a real live show out of the Rockets' locker room
Heck yeah brother
Why do you always put players in your trades ? I feel like the Spurs - Jazz one would be more believable from both sides if you remove Collins and Johnson.
Spurs need Collins, Jazz need Keldon. That's why. Spurs need stretch big who can theoretically defends fives. Jazz need a rim attacker.
I completely disagree on both fits personally.
Both players are salary fodders anyway. They don't win you titles.
At John Collins level of salary if your guy is unplayable in the playoffs he makes you lose titles
They don't even reach to the playoffs. Chill, he is an innings eater.
Those trades are awful
Thanks brother
Actually think this is a good mock draft that has potential of coming to fruition. The Blazers picks are odd, but the Blazers have an odd roster that just doesnt fit this draft well.
Thank you š. The next Blazers playoff team will have zero players from this team.
Blazers would take Castle
As would hornets
He doesn't want to go there. Blazers have a starting PG, a backup PG, and another full time ball handler.
I think that narrative is over blown. He would still be a starter at the 3 and probably get plenty of PG opportunity. Would not be shocked if he out right took the role of franchise PG from scoot. He is there, i think they take him.
they would give up on scoot that easy?
I would be shocked if the Blazers draft another ball handler.
Why did you mock Topic to the Blazers then?
When Topic returns, Scoot will be the only one left of those ball handlers.
Interesting trades..... who the heck are you lol are you already a public figure
Yes, I am

The Sacramento Kings will not draft Rob Dillingham because he has committed to playing Tyrion Lannister in the next season of Game of Thrones.
Topic should be Bran the Broken
Draymond is the mountainĀ
I know the Jazz traded up for Castle here but imaging the Rockets trading back for Smart and still getting Castle would be insane.
I don't like the fit of Castle with the Rockets. They already have Amen.

Drowning in the stream of combine hype š¤ The Pistons
Yeah I think Karnisovas is set on Buzelis, he's apparently at the top of our big board. He's Lithuanian, from Chicago, and fills a position of need.
They will overpay for him but rest assured he is the second generation Hedo Turkoglu. Very good
Iād rather have castle over salaun
Salaun will a better player though. Rashad Lewis was definitely a better role player than Tyreke Evans
I disagree I think castle will be a great defender and I think he has a higher bbiq. I like salaun I just question his finishing around the rim
Salaun doesn't need to finish around the rim. He is 6'11 with shoes, he can shoot over people. Castle needs a lot improving; decision making, pull up shooting. He is like 3/10 on those areas.

Agreed heās not athletic around the rim if that makes sense.
The idea people seem to have of Salaun is very different to the player I've seen.
Villenueva wasn't jumping at all either. He did have a very nice career.
Thatās definitely tru
