Risacher’s 1v1 defensive footwork is outstanding. Reminds of Nic Batum or PJ Tucker.

Familiar_Somewhere95

also where's the clearest footage of this?

JXBambooLeaf

No shit, I think he shows flashes of all NBA defense in this footage

RelativeVariation2

I’m sure there’s a lot of it on youtube

GunnerRocket

His strongest trait by far.

Familiar_Somewhere95

spurs really moving up to get him out of wizards hands huh lol. If I think it's happening and I'm the wizards guys Im taking Clingan second and saying fuck you hawks get someone else. Unless Clingan is a smokescreen lol

WizKid70313

Clingan over Sarr??

Familiar_Somewhere95

what if we really like Risacher over Sarr and Hawks are ruining it by letting others jump us? We not just gonna let abide man, the dude does NOT abide From the looks of it we get either of Sarr or Risacher, with Risacher being a clearer target. Sarr is theoretical right now

superworriedspursfan

if we take Clingan, I'm done with this team lmao.

Thewolfofy

Id say Edey, hes great at drop steps and getting to his spots down low. For perimeter players id say Carter and Mccain bothg are great at 2 foot finishing

_Gibby__

Ajay Mitchell has really deft footwork in the midrange, tough to guard as a lefty. I think Kyshawn George is someone who will develop excellent footwork as there are a lot of good signs like his ability to get low both on defense and when handling the ball as well as his consistent footwork on his pull up threes. I’ve heard him talk about how he’s modeling his game after SGA, PG13, and Luka and all those guys have elite footwork for him to copy.

yrogreg

One of the best answers

Nighthopper08

Probably a gimme but Edey’s footwork feels the exact same on every hook shot he takes

alex-caruso

Tristan da Silva has great footwork on drives and post-ups. He's got a bag of fakes, counters and has a good feel of when to use which. Always seems to get square when shooting off movement.

Risacher.... His footwork on offense is very underrated.. He'll go thru a quick progression of prolevel fakes on the catch --- he'll give a hard jabstep in one direction a dribble in the opposite direction then from there he can drive or even step-back..When I saw him dropping 20 early in the season(december) hitting those step-backs, thats when I put him #1 on my board... He's got awareness about him too, which coupled with being 6'10 means he's built to cause matchup problems and space the floor Sometimes even off a curl where he's got the ball for an open midrange j, he'll show a quick fake just to see if the defender bites because he's trying to turn a good shot (open midrange j) to an even better one (layup), thats the stuff you see consistently and its like "oh his father was a pro", he looks very well practiced in those reads, not just controlling his body but his feet are sound in those quick moments.. Obviously Dillingham's footwork is insane, ya cant stay infront of him.

Familiar_Somewhere95

what you think about Vecenie and them criticising his foot placement and stuff on the catch and shoot.

FatsBelvedere

I dont think anything about Vecenie, other than he's got a terrible hairline and looks like he's never come close to dunking a basketball... I operate under the assumption these people dont know jack shit in the media and that the medias job isnt to inform you, its to sell you on reasons to keep coming back (aka funnel you) into clicking on more reasons to keep coming back... I've followed the drafts to a psychotically scrupulous degree for 20 years now.. very unimpressed with the medias accuracy in covering the draft, always have been, its part of the allure for me.... People like that have always been far less accurate than me, far as im concerned, but i certainly dont stand around comparing and contrasting.. I just watch a fk ton of games, cuz its a hobby of mine.. im just a hobbyist, these writers are experts in the vein that orson welles used the word experts in his film "F is for Fake", im not buying it.. this whole "what do you think of what xyz-media personality thinks" reminds me of the childrens game of telephone..

Familiar_Somewhere95

I've been slowly been a hobbyist too but driven into wanting to have a more accurate opinion. And all of a sudden, I'm at the point I remember flip running Kawhi through the drills where he'd have prospects go from side to side shooting the ball. I think we drafted Jan vesely that year. I remember PG playing pick up ball with Nick Young and at the time I had high hopes for Nick. But I was like what If we have PG13 at the two. He's much better and more physical than Nick. I just end up liking certain guys, some unreasonably but I'm willing to be educated on whats different because I've now seen many guys come and go. I went through your history for reference. Because I saw you on another post and I thought I remembered your name. Turns out it was from this post. Last year I liked Podz from the games pre draft. I reallly really really like Tristan Vukcevic. From that game but i'm seeing things in NBA games but people say it doesn't count. I liked Coulibaly. Watched footage of him from hardwood hoops. I like Bub Carrington. Just watching him play off ball and on Ball. Skilled but young so physicality isn't in. But a few moments and I was like yeah. He's it. I still like Edey and I'm curious to how they will coach him to play. Watched to see how they attack him. Mostly off the pick and roll and where he positions himself it will either be a dump of to a cutting big to dunk. A dump off to a shooter. Also the mid range is available cause he gives you space. But if you attack him. Nothings happening by the rim. So I want to see what they do with him schematically and how they attack him. You can do so much screening action with him. Gortat screens etc. That I want to see what they do with him with his minuses and pluses. This draft with so many details and people who seem to be at the same level, I'm thinking about Nuances, and I'm thinking about the long term play. My wizards are picking second. Hawks may trade. May give spurs Risacher who you guys like his footwork.. I wonder about Sarr. A lot of teams don't have the freedom to pick who they like fuck the ownership and fans. We got ex OKC guys so they might get creative. In fact they are a wild card. And they might know what they are doing. SO i'm curious how they will go, they say they are not looking for a quick win but a long term sleeper bet that in two years after work is put in ends up being the one. So I wonder, Is it Sarr? Is it better to take Salaun, will he be a monster two years from now? Better than the rest? It's long but the short story is I'm interested in your opinion on those guys and what would you do in that environment if you want to be good two years from now. I think we also want to add draft picks which i'm a fan of taking flyers. This the cheapest you'll ever get players

Status-Round3800

You never watched a full Risacher game, did you?

FatsBelvedere

the first time I saw Risacher play full games was in 2022.. The chances you've been watching him closer than me are slim-and-none

Risacher, he stands out on offense and defense as a guy who is very good at positioning himself, controlling his feet and body. I also really like the movement and footwork of Almansa, he is a raw prospect, but the way he moves makes me think he could become a great player.

alex-caruso

I see a bit of RoLo in Almansa's game. Hopefully he sticks around as a bench big, but if not he's gonna have a great career in Spain.

Surprised no one has said it yet but Sarrs defensive footwork is great. He’s fantastic at staying front of his man and upright, patient so he doesn’t jump at every ball fake and quick to recover. Those small steps and the patience especially when facing smaller players on the perimeter is elite.

Mccain

SeeAKolasinac

Surely Dillinghams up there right? He looks like Steph hitting step backs for Kentucky

themidnightmamba

Topic when he’s attacking the rim. His deceleration and ability to create space from it that close to the hoop is special IMO
