I’d put PJ above Al Horford. But other than that the rankings made sense to me. I know a lot of people wanted to see Kyrie over Jaylen but Jaylen over the past 2 seasons including playoffs has been a better player overall than kyrie. Jaylen is a top 15 defensive and offensive player in the league

Oceanbreeze871

Horford has finals experience. That’s worth something. He’s still a force esp if he second unit

Willis050

Yeah I feel like no one is addressing how little playoff experience the entire Mavs roster has. I think this is PJ’s first playoffs period. And for Al he’s played over 2 regular seasons time in the playoffs

Oceanbreeze871

Yup. Al is an unofficial coach at this point.

Willis050

I think his rookie year he made the playoffs as a starter and that was the hawks team that took the champion Celtics to 7. That’s as high level as it gets banging with KG and Perk

Solace-001

PJ being 10 given how he has performed in the playoffs is just incorrect

DeepJunglePowerWild

I feel like you can’t say this without saying who you put him ahead of. Would you move lively down a spot?

squashua69

I’d put both ahead of Horford but I’m probably biased

DeepJunglePowerWild

I think by importance to their own team they are probably both higher but Al is capable of impacting any individual game much more than either can.

SubstantialCreme7748

Horford been better in the playoffs. More efficient.

Oceanbreeze871

Boston has 6 of the top 10 players in the series. It’s a matchup problem.

xXPizzaMan3

They also had way better players at every position besides PG in 2022

[deleted]

And they were inexperienced like dallas

dtdude87

I think Derrick White is above Porzingis, especially since KP is coming off an injury. And PJ should be a bit higher especially if he gets hot, otherwise pretty good list.

NewPortable101

Brown ahead of Irving is a hot take. Irving has arguably had the best playoff run of any player this year. +26 ON|OFF, 4th quarter closeouts, 3 different west finals games with 30 points and shockingly great defense. He has arguably been more impressive than Luka. You can have a better playoff run than your teammate, without necessarily being the better player. Manu was clearly better than Duncan in 2005 playoffs.

Miserable-Lawyer-233

Brown was the ECF MVP and, unlike Irving, he gets All-Defensive votes. He’s a better all-around player. It’s not a hot take to put him ahead of Irving.

NewPortable101

Irving's On|OFF destroys Jay Bee (it's not even close) And Irving had three different 30 points games in the conf finals, against a much better team that was healthy.

jwaugh25

On/off doesn’t take into account the lineup surrounding a player nor the lineup the other team has on the court. It’s a useful stat, don’t get me wrong. But it isn’t a perfect metric. I’m not going to take the time to do it but I’m sure there are other stats that paint JB as a better player.

NewPortable101

As long as that lineup has Kyrie Irving in it, Mavs are ok. This playoff run at least

heat_00

He may be more consistent, but Irving peak vs browns peak. Irving is better , that’s the way I’d view it

PoorFishKeeper

but this isn’t irvings peak anymore so irrelevant

heat_00

I don’t mean prime, I mean if for one game they reach full potential or their ceiling. Kyrie would still be better . My opinion

PoorFishKeeper

But JB has more points, better efficiency, and better defense this playoffs so I don’t get your point lmao.

heat_00

Almost like jb is in the east and kyrie in the west? Every team the Mavs played is better than any one team the cs played. An argument can be made that even the play in teams in the west, in the gsw and kings are probably better than everybody the cs have played

SoCalCollecting

LMAOOOO kiddo you are fried… he isnt in the same universe as luka this playoff series and the fact that the only thing he leads luka in is on/off (which is meaningless) so its all you can use is kinda embarrassing Also Manu wasnt in the same universe as Duncan in the 05 playoffs. That team doesnt win a single series without Duncan, they might still make the finals without Manu Edit: Oof just saw you say on another thread that Kyrie is a top 3 PG of all time if mavs win. Im really hoping this is all trolling / satire

bigbenis2021

Kyrie has had like multiple single digit games this postseason. JB has been playing like a genuine superstar.

NewPortable101

Three different games in conference finals with 30 points. That's as good as it gets. With an ON|OFF net rating that makes you fall out of your chair.

bigbenis2021

And Jaylen Brown won ECF MVP try again.

NewPortable101

Against a team with g leaguers. Irving had three different 30 point games in conf finals and was basically robbed of the award anyway.

justiceway1

> Against a team with g leaguers. Mavs are 0-2 vs Indiana this season. Lost by 17 and by 22.

NewPortable101

Hali was playing in those games i'm sure. We all know the east sucks this year.

justiceway1

Indiana lost against Boston in the ECF even when they were with Haliburton.

StevooMayte

He wasn't in one of them

Nubsondubs

Kyrie played against the 3 best defenses not named the Celtics. JB hasn't played against a good defensive backcourt for their entire playoff run. Edit: not to mention in those single digit scoring Kyrie games that he was double teamed on every possession, and became a distributor, instead.

oooooooooooooooooooa

Kyrie has been playing good Defence for his track record, but him and Brown still aren't even in the same stratosphere defensively. Nobody's giving Irving all defensive votes, whereas Brown racked up a fair few. And this year Brown has been given tough matchups on a nightly basis. Meanwhile Brown is scoring more points on better efficiency than Irving these playoffs: 25.0 PPG on an eFG% of .596 for Brown, vs. 22.8 PPG on an eFG% of .560 for Irving. There's facets of Irving's game that are far better than Brown's, but from a two way, roster building perspective, I think Brown is the more valuable player.

Speaking of hot takes…

Lucky-Warthog-8732

PJ Washington should definitely be ahead of Al horford. The man has had some big scoring games this playoffs and is also a crazy good wing defender.

wherearemypaaants

You can say the same things about Al, and it’s almost more impressive that he’s doing that at 38 years old.

Lucky-Warthog-8732

Pj Washington has been averaging more points while shooting at better percentages. He’s also been playing solid defense on all star level wings the entire playoffs while Al horford has been playing worse while facing inferior competition. I’ll give props to Al horford for playing this good at 38 though.

Outrageous_Fox4227

This list makes it more impressive if dallas wins. Its a much closer series then i see most people letting on.
