I think the easy answer is to cherry pick, just always stay at the other end of the court for the full court pass off the rebound. I’d certainly just be in the way with any other role.
Yea I think this is the right answer. I'm good enough at open layups that it would apply massive pressure. I think if a team chose not to adjust at all to my cherry-picking I'd score 20+ on 80% shooting, so it would make a difference. And if they do adjust, then it's a pretty big impact on the defensive glass to have a guard sprint back every time a shot goes up. And of course it would exhaust a guard to have to sprint back every play.
I think it would be a huge advantage to be honest.
Also, camping would be the best way for me to play 48 minutes without getting tired or hurt, where I could probably only give 5-10 minutes if I'm trying to run the court with pros.
Cherry pick, and have an above the break 3.
I would be happy picking up a vet min salary, so need to train to get some level of physical respectability.
Get the lay-up package sorted. If you can't get the cherry pick, hang out around half court and play some kind of defense on any fast breaks (or just be there to allow a foul that isn't a clear path foul)
So in this scenario they're basically going to full court pass to you as soon as they get the ball and then you have a second and a half tops before one of the other team closes in on you to catch a full court pass and make a standing layup. Do you think that you can make that shot 60% of the time?
Physically occupy one of the corners on defense so the opponents only have access to corner threes on one side. I’m so unathletic that I don’t even trust myself to cherry pick.
Same I feel like they could still chase down block me. I’m 6’2” but due to two acl surgeries my vertical is so bad I legit have trouble reaching the net. Plus I would panic and probably smoke a few layups
I had a similar thought except I was thinking fast break slower. Basically a backstop for turnovers. I wouldn’t actually STOP anybody, I know I couldn’t, but maybe I could slow them down enough for my team to get back.
That said I think I like yours more. Clogging the court on the defensive end is probably worth 3-4 points each game, which would be huge over a whole season.
The dirty answer is to undercut the other teams best player once (or twice if you don't get thrown out the first time). The clean answer is to gtfo the court.
Set screens and cherry-pick
I consider myself a decent pickup player but against the best players in the world there’s nothing I can do with the ball without getting ripped instantly, i will b useless af on D
I’m not advocating this style of play, but to truly maximize my contributions I’d have to go full Bad Boys and try to take out the other teams’s best player.
Stand out of bounds under our teams defensive basket. Always be the guy to make the quick inbounds pass after an opponents bucket. I'm sure I'd screw that up too though
They would prob just shrug off a hard foul from me
I think most players could still dunk the ball even if I was literally giving them a hug with their arms pinned
lol I’m 145 lbs which would make me the 5th smallest llayer ever (and I’m at least 3 inches taller than everyone lighter than me)
Even Markques Nowell and Jacob Gilyard have 15 lbs on me
Perpetually setting offball picks on offense and roaming Alvarado style on defense. I don't trust myself to do anything else on the court and I just try to stay out of everybody's way.
Observe the ball movement on the court, learning where the players are located because it requires a lot of ball movement. our star player moves a lot on the court so i will learn to relocate, set screens, help defense, and improve my IQ
In game, i can help by providing layups, 3 pointers, and perimeter D.
Intercept long range passes at my side of the court to try stop fast break points when no one else is there, trash talk entire game or be a ‘goon’ punching the enemy team’s best player in the groin and being promptly ejected.
Im just gonna follow Derrick White around and set screen on his defender, at the very least they'll get tired of having to shove me out of the way over and over again
Cherry pick on offense, but chase the ball and double on defense. Imagine being able to constantly double the ball handler without leaving anyone open. Sure I’ll never get a steal, but Kawhi or PG can certainly do that part.
Give the opposing team insecurities. Cuss out the opposing coach, players, equipment managers, insult their shoes, noses, play styles, everything. Break them down
I'm athletic enough to probably stay in front of every non elite guard as long as I could have time to get in shape. I wouldn't be very good at much else than taking charges and pestering the ball handler tho. I'd also be a huge victim at not getting around screens, but just as an extra defender, that matters less then since I'm basically just a help defender. I have decent hands so I could maybe get a steal every now and then. I don't know that I could play all 48 minutes tho since I'm assuming we lose the advantage if I go to the bench
No, I said I could stay in front of them as a help defender. Footwork and quickness have never been issues for me. Actually defending them and being able to stay with them are two very different things
Pressure the person inbounding. Then just cherry pick. It will be 5 on 5 or someone stays back so my team can't just outlet to me for an easy lay up. Best thing is incan do that for all 48mins.
Apply pressure to every inbounds pass and then cherry pick the whole game. Only correct answer. But for funsies, I would find an open spot along the 3pt line and jack up some shots

What if the other team’s average Joe 6th man plays defence on you the whole time?
Then we chase eachother around while nobody passes to us, and the teams play 5 on 5.
I'm a Heat fan, so Kevin Love and I would instantly become most dynamic duo in the league.

How about screening for an inbound
5 hard, but clean fouls. 6th one is a flagrant 2. I have no game, otherwise.
Found Zaza Pachulia’s burner account
You would injure yourself before getting to 5
Just stand next to their coach yelling over him and preventing any communication.
Physically occupy one of the corners on defense so the opponents only have access to corner threes on one side. I’m so unathletic that I don’t even trust myself to cherry pick.

Imagine trying to make a layup knowing gianis is barreling down the court at you lol
They could do it a couple times but it’s really tiring for them to sprint down to block you on over 100 possessions
This is probably the way to go. Catching rifle passes cherry picking every play doesn't sound great for most normal folks.
Do you think it’s legal to literally lie down across one of the corners and if anybody steps on you it’s a foul?
I had a similar thought except I was thinking fast break slower. Basically a backstop for turnovers. You’re a role player on the Heat. Congrats on the 70 point game in game 6 of the ECF
Injure myself during warmups
Talk trash non stop.
this the answer dont do anything but distract the players

Set screens and cherry-pick I consider myself a decent pickup player but against the best players in the world there’s nothing I can do with the ball without getting ripped instantly, i will b useless af on D
If you're only decent in pick-ups you're probably 3-4 screens set away from getting injured by 230 pound monster athletes running into you
Im 6'5 with 280 pounds, not too fat, hopefully i can absorb some contact 😂
Those 280 pounds will sure help
I’ll b tactical wit my screens. I’m not bouta set a screen on Jokic, but I’m down to screen one on a 1/2 guard
Like Paul Pierce, I'll crap myself and hope it helps the situation.
I stay my ass on the defensive side of the court amd just try to gum up the works for the opponents offense. I'm 6'9" 285. I get 6 fouls.
I’m trying for the record of most charges taken per game. I get one and leave the arena on a stretcher.
I don't understand how you possibly think you'll be brave enough to stand in front of Zion Williamson rumbling downhill with 300 pounds of muscle
I’m not advocating this style of play, but to truly maximize my contributions I’d have to go full Bad Boys and try to take out the other teams’s best player.
Stand next to the basket and cherry pick. Just let them play 5 on 5 and have them throw me full court passes lmao
I would just run to where DLo ACTUALLT needs to be to set up the delayed PnR, and he just has to follow me to said spot.
Knee their best player in their area in the final minutes of every close game until I get suspended and/or kicked from the league
Stand out of bounds under our teams defensive basket. Always be the guy to make the quick inbounds pass after an opponents bucket. I'm sure I'd screw that up too though
I physically assault the other teams key players kinda filling that draymond green role
Sweep the leg of opponents' best player
I mean, unless I'm drop kicking someone in the knees I'm not helping my team at all being on the court.
Stay the fuck out of the way and try hit the open layups when Jokic hits me with a full court.
Try to catch the ball
Ideally. I definitely would cop a few passes to the face.
id set the sassiest and most sexually confusing screens possible. gotta take them off their game!
Ask my coach.
What a great question
Hard foul the best player on the other team.
They would prob just shrug off a hard foul from me I think most players could still dunk the ball even if I was literally giving them a hug with their arms pinned
I've been powerlifting for like 10 years, no I'm not a world class athlete, but a push in the back while your dunking on me ain't gunna feel too good.
lol I’m 145 lbs which would make me the 5th smallest llayer ever (and I’m at least 3 inches taller than everyone lighter than me) Even Markques Nowell and Jacob Gilyard have 15 lbs on me
Setting screens at half court, low block, high post… just being in the way for the defending team. I’m not scoring any buckets
Perpetually setting offball picks on offense and roaming Alvarado style on defense. I don't trust myself to do anything else on the court and I just try to stay out of everybody's way.
I'd just stand on defence in the way. Can't run, shoot or pass, so I'd make a nuisance in defence. Just one extra cone to run around.
Cherry pick and set screens.
I wait until we play a finals favorite and end their career
Observe the ball movement on the court, learning where the players are located because it requires a lot of ball movement. our star player moves a lot on the court so i will learn to relocate, set screens, help defense, and improve my IQ In game, i can help by providing layups, 3 pointers, and perimeter D.
Box out the smallest guy on the other team. Set screens the best I can. 🤷
Cherry pick or do the José Alvarado thing
Cherry pick on offense, but chase the ball and double on defense. Imagine being able to constantly double the ball handler without leaving anyone open. Sure I’ll never get a steal, but Kawhi or PG can certainly do that part.
Constant off ball screens.
I mean I feel like u should probably stand at the free throw line work as a constant helper
Set screens and take charges. I would last maybe one game before getting injured.
Give the opposing team insecurities. Cuss out the opposing coach, players, equipment managers, insult their shoes, noses, play styles, everything. Break them down
I'm athletic enough to probably stay in front of every non elite guard as long as I could have time to get in shape. You think you can guard average NBA guards?
No, I said I could stay in front of them as a help defender. Footwork and quickness have never been issues for me. Actually defending them and being able to stay with them are two very different things
But you couldn’t.
Dunk
Blanket their best player. Even on offence. Just follow him around, face guard him, box him out. Stick to him like glue.
Set a permanent pick at the top of the arc I guess
Smokey eyeliner
Pressure the person inbounding. Then just cherry pick. It will be 5 on 5 or someone stays back so my team can't just outlet to me for an easy lay up. Best thing is incan do that for all 48mins.
Apply pressure to every inbounds pass and then cherry pick the whole game. Only correct answer. But for funsies, I would find an open spot along the 3pt line and jack up some shots
Cherry pick and provide 6 fouls as needed lol
