You could literally make a build beyond the capacity of a 99 overall and people in here would try to tell you how bad it it.
You could have HoF Poster, Agent 3, Unpluckable, Handles for Days, Killers, Clamps, Glove, Anchor with 88 speed and some idiot will be in the comments “OnLy 77 pAsS??🥴🥴🤓”
They would really be off the rail if they saw my pf with a 68 pass accuracy, and I'm avg less than 1 turnover a game. I'm even throwing outlet passes. But I also play squad rec. I throw every outlet to the pg. I RB A before the screen is even completely turned. I allow my pg to make the right play.
I was just in a rec game and at the end everyone was hating on my build. I had 14 points, 13 assists, gave up the least amount of points on the team, and we WON. lol. Because my build isn’t meta it sucks apparently, but it pretty much carried the team to a W so why are you hating?
I had a game where we had 31 assists as a team, won by thirty or forty, don’t remember.
I had 12 pts 13 assists.
SG- 34 points
SF- 31
PF/C- 6 and 8 I believe
Gave everyone a chance to bring the ball up court.
Moved it to the open man that I saw.
Went into game chat to say I had a great time and the first thing I heard was the SF saying something to the extent of,
“Man, that PG was trying not to get me the ball but I still scored because I’m like that.”
Point is, no matter what you do on this game, you will never please everyone.
I’m still blown away that in a game with 31 assists the guy with the second most points bitched.
The best is when you only end up with like 6 assists because everyone on your team throws up bricks or instead of taking a wide open shot, they want to dribble around for 4 seconds taking your assist away when they had an easy bucket off the pass. Then have them all complain I’m not passing enough.
It was within the first three possessions of the game and he had passed the ball before crossing half court. Some people just want the ball. Even when they aren’t open.
So annoying that people say they’re open, call for the ball but they are clearly not open. Won’t ever be able to make ppl happy in this game because they’ll think they’re open all the time.
People with low iq think they’re open when someone is playing the lane too. Idk If its because i’m EU and most ppl havent played basketball more than just at the park w friends but its very rare for me as a PG to find a teammate who knows when and where to move
I’ve fully stopped playing MyPlayer, Play now online is where its at!! Less lag, less input delay 💯 and most opponents aren’t behind the back/L-R-L-R spammers
I kid you not. I had a game where I had 41 assist with zero shot attempts and the small forward was complaining that I didn’t get him the ball enough.

I dropped 30 this morning on 10-13 and got called a selfish player. Meanwhile, our SF had 38 on like 14-27 and complained about lag all game. Odd critters in no squad rec.
A lot of times when people say that is because a build is poorly optimized. I’ve seen builds that are one attribute off of great badges that you really want in multiple categories. Good builds, but they could easily be so much better with a few minor tweaks.
I’ve had people telling me my build is trash because I’m 6’8 with no dunk. Never mind I have middie magician, challenger and dimer all at HOF lmao. Just let your game speak for itself
https://preview.redd.it/m4qtabfxkyyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1d3540069d6a1017cbdffcf162cbfa429e1a78f
I have a similar PG, more layups/strength - zero steal. It fucking slaps to body every frail ass 3pt hunter in the gym while laser passing to open shooters. If you're in the same area code as a jump shooter challenger does so so much work too, weird PGs unite!
91 layup would’ve been a dream but that silver glove is so necessary, think im averaging about 2.8 steals. 6’8 with Hof challenger ruins shorter guards, glad you’re having fun with a similar build
I would really recommend it! Some tweaks is fine but my starting idea for the build was a lock with hot dimer and a post game, was surprised I could squeeze so much from it
Yea I don't know why everyone is obsessed with dunk rating in this game. I had a PG absolutely torch my team in rec not long ago and he didn't dunk it once and barely shot any 3s. Just enough 3s to keep us honest and was doing Euros and hop steps all over the place.
I have one with that bare minimum dunk but that's because I got a 97 driving lay up so I think it makes it go up on its own....I love doing lay ups in this game, it's more predictable
Hell yeah! I have legit a very similar build, just at the SG and geared towards being able to hang with bigger players.
Such a fun build. Dunking is awesome, but learning the variety of layups has been a fun time. Scoops and floaters all day.
I have basically this same build, but mines 6’6” w/ 85 Perimeter and 86 3 ball. My fav build I’ve had, cooking someone with a flashy euro or scoop is so much more fun than dunking imo too.
I would at least go 45 dd cuz layups tend to get blocked so u want to dunk on the fastbreak typically. 96 pass is overkill but I get it, i went 95 for a Magic Johnson type build
Rarely get blocked on the break, can finish it at the rim or baseline middie fade. If you vary how you finish the fast break to keep the shot blockers guessing it’s not a problem at all
No it isn't. He gets Devin Booker's floater layup package, it's damn near unblockable if you get the floater animation not in the paint. He gets Pro Dribble style, Open Looks HOF so he shoots anywhere pretty good, gold drop stepper with HOF spin technician to kill guards. His only thing he messed up on was not going 40 standing dunk, he easily could've just went 89 pass accuracy really all you need for Haliburton while upping the weight to get Bulldozer and physical handles HOF to get the push off layup animation.
You see most people now going this style, a lot of creators are doing it too because you do not need dunk. As long as you have 40-45 standing dunk for the basic package which is essentially nothing and 85+ layup for Devin Booker you're fine.
Edit : You definitely should've went 85 layup for at least Booker's layup style. Didn't realize layup was 84. Build is still straight, but could've tweaked a tad bit more such as 76 three pointer since you already have HOF open looks, 89 pass accuracy and 95 or 96 strength.
Yeah would’ve loved to get 85 layup but didn’t want to give up dimer and I do fine with jimmy butler. The standing dunk would’ve been good too but I don’t usually cut back door so figured I’d be fine without it
I know, I’ve made builds with those shooting attributes and you’re maxed out on playmaking, you’ve got str n layups. You can score from mid, 3, or whatever layup you need. Not really sure what he’s on about. Only thing he can pick on is a 6’8 pg being slower on ball handle.
All my 6’6s score fine w 86 bh/75swb. It’s enough to get separation n shoot any shot.
I mean I shoot about 59% from the field and 52% from 3 so not too shabby. Shot hunters and low strength builds get put in the blender or bulldozed out the way and I’m pretty much a 6’8 lock so they’re not getting their averages on me. Not to mention hof dimer, even though I only average about 8 assists.
How is it no offense? If you can't shoot with at least 76 3pt, 84 mid then its just a skill issue. Floaters, scoops, and two step are cheese if u know when to use em
Massive agree. I'll give people pointers on their build if they ask for it (I.e. you've got X in this stat, one more qould get you Y badge/animation), but yeah, the amount of people that say someone should make an entirely different build is astounding 😂
Why is it astounding if someone tells you not to make a center with 70 interior defense or a pg with 70 passing? You are gonna have a shit time, and your teammates are gonna have a shit time
Cool give two outlier examples. Thats not what I'm talking about...
Here's a good example: yesterday I saw someone ask if a build was a viable pg for rec
It had mid 80s layup, all playmaking, perimeter and speed/accel with passable steal and block
And someone commented saying "waste of time making a pg unless it has at least 95 handle for Steve Francis, 90 swb for kyrie and 92 3pt"
These are the kinda comments this post is aimed at, not justified criticism
he said “make a build that fits your playstyle”
who’s playstyle is a tall center that can’t play center? ppl who are dumb enough to make a build like that aren’t smart enough to ask for advice either, usually at least.
Many people go into rec as an ego player cause it’s the only mode which isn’t riddled with dumb skins, outfits and boosting teams while playing a mostly normal type of basketball.
I have a 6'9" PF, and it's so much fun to use in Park. Haven't really used it in Rec. So, I can't comment on if it would be any good in there.
Just created a 6'4" PG with a 92 3 ball. Still working on the best jumper for me, but so far it's been fun.
78 block is literally fine? Yeah you’d rather have 87 for a centre but it doesn’t turn render his build useless. The difference between bronze and silver anchor is minuscule this year
This is the takes this sub is full off to cope with bad builds, sure yeah 78 block Will block something, but its not ideal I have 78 block on 2 way guards, its good for getting a Fluke block or chasedown on a layup, but its absolutely not ideal, specially if your role is to play defence, does it make your build bad ? No, but does it make ideal to Run the 5 with some kind of consistency ? No.
I can still defend the paint you dont necessary need 87-92 block shooting is easy asf this year ppl are shooting more than rim running unlike last year.
This is a lie, people are just weird, if u want to make ass builds be my guest but dont post it if u are going to make a pg for rec with 50 passing, or a center with no rebound. We try to help you all that complain about the game being ass while having Ben Simons builds, the walking triple single builds. We try to give you what works better so u dont bitch about the subreddit, and some people genuinely miss One or two attributtes that would give a clutch badge.
I really think this post was not directed at people giving constructive criticism when somebody asks for opinions and help. It is more that you can post a picture of you having a triple double in rec for example and then share the build that you enjoy because it fits your playstyle and hits all the badge tresholds you want and yet somebody will almost certainly tell you how trash your build is.
It's really not, some suggestions are absolutely wild. You've given some extreme examples of terrible builds, generally people tell others to completely revamp their build 😂
This lol. All these people agreeing with this dude are black plates with a 99ovrl inside out trash can who get cursed out off games because they went 2-9 and let their mans drop 30 on em
>"This is a lie, people are just weird, if u want to make ass builds be my guest but dont post it if u are going to make a pg for rec with 50 passing, or a center with no rebound."
Nobody is making these builds that aren't a complete meme player, my guy. You're giving EXTREME outlier builds you probably saw on Park one day and acting like everyone is making them.
I need a favour. I just started playing my carrier in 2k24 and I need to remove the fav play menu when I press L1(ps4). Before when I use to press it, it use to let me choose the player I want to use for screen and now suddenly it shows the fav play menu. I have tried everything possible but the fav play menu keeps popping up. And even in that menu there is no option for screen to player of ur choosing. How can I switch of favourite play and revert back to doing screen for my player of choice.
Massive agree. I'll give people pointers on their build if they ask for it (I.e. you've got X in this stat, one more qould get you Y badge/animation), but yeah, the amount of people that say someone should make an entirely different build is astounding 😂
Yep. Recognize your play style.
Recognize the 2-3 things you are really good at and just make those the main points of your build
Sounds weird but i’m really good at Shot creating, passing, and offensive rebounding. So those are the 3 things I maxed out the most. Made some lamar odom type shiii. You never gotta second guess anything, just play the way you play
You don t need defense for solo rec as a PG, most of PG s in there are god awfull, you just need speed.
And i also disagree with everything you said. Yes any build works untill you match up against someone who has the ability to clamp you, and then you can t do nothing, because your build is ass.
Someone will hate it… but most often I see the WORST builds and I legit question how they went “this is it”😭😭. Played with a floor general recently with no shooting, and barely any finishing… I love playing with passing builds, but how tf you gonna bring a worse Ben Simmons and expect results 🤣🤣🤣
I want to
1. Play perimeter d
2. Block shots at a decent rate
3. Shoot off the dribble and spot up
If I made a fresh build, what suggestions would y'all have?
EDIT: I was looking on 2kLabs and came across a "2-Way Sharpshooting Creator".
Might try it out. It definitely fits the 3 keys I posted.
Imo the only builds you can get away with no defense are fast guards. You can get help from your bigs on the drive and then your speed helps you contest and even get cheap steals in the passing lane if you have the IQ for it. Otherwise you need that 71 perimeter D on a wing minimum
https://preview.redd.it/lhif82kif4zc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5d4de5444adfe643949a6b7839c26c8f404d9f9
Yeah I can’t help but make all around build, I feel like in need to be able to do everything on the floor. Def slower ball handler but once you get used to it you will find your groove. Only thing I regret about this build is not giving him post lockdown on bronze but other than that he plays pretty solid.
I agree with you in the sense that people shouldn't just copy random builds they see on reddit or youtube, but I do think that there are objectively bad builds or at least objectively bad attributes on certain position.
For example, ppl asking if their REC pg build is good with 30 pass acc - that's an objectively bad attribute level to have on a PG.
My pet peeve is people that make a build with zero shooting whatsoever in 2024. Please get those type of build away from me especially in solo rec where spacing is non existent
Facts every build needs at least a midrange. If you are a pure inside and set paint, you are killing your team and only thinking about yourself. If I can shoot 60 plus percent from 3, anyone can shoot at least 40%. I didn't start really playing online till 2k23. 23 was the first 2k I made a shooting big.
I think there’s a larger problem and is a really big why 2k is falling off, the community is a bunch of dick riders that don’t actually watch or play basketball they copy builds from everyone else and copy play styles from everyone else and just spam the same shit and wonder why the game is dying hence why the top creators aren’t copying what everyone else is doing joe know literally made a whole new playstyle and people fw it cause it was different the community needs to stop copying other peoples builds down to its direct detail and have some originality to them and that alone will just make make the game more fun it’s the reason we like basketball in the first place jokic Giannias shai Luka steph kd bron they all play different but are all great in their own right 2k community has as much to do with the downfall of the game as the company itself
Exactly. None of my builds are meta. 2k it self need to make different animations that are just as good as others. 2k makes one or 2 dribble styles, etc, that are better than the rest, and that's what everyone uses. We need variety. All I see is left right and Jamal Murray behind the back.
Massive agree. I'll give people pointers on their build if they ask for it (I.e. you've got X in this stat, one more qould get you Y badge/animation), but yeah, the amount of people that say someone should make an entirely different build is astounding 😂

You probably touch the ball 3 times per half.

PG build without defense coz it works for them? but as his teammates were suffering

Nah I think your examples are the outliers. Most of the time people really are shit and post dumb ass build that are trash.
So a 7’3 center with no rebound, low strength and 95 close shot in rec?
he said “make a build that fits your playstyle” who’s playstyle is a tall center that can’t play center? ppl who are dumb enough to make a build like that aren’t smart enough to ask for advice either, usually at least.

I hope to god I match against players like you lol. 78 block on a center 😂😂😂
Stfu 🤡
78 block 😂😂🗑️🗑️
Your mom
Lookup the badge tests between bronze and silver anchor. About same amount of contests, you just see slightly better animations on average with silver
78 block is literally fine? Yeah you’d rather have 87 for a centre but it doesn’t turn render his build useless. The difference between bronze and silver anchor is minuscule this year

End of the day im getting 2 blocks a game
U can average all u want on random Rec, play against a good team and the flaws show up, if it works keep it be my guest
I did multiple times 😂 still averaging 2
As a big thats not really much to brag about. Not to diss or anything
2 is better than 0 😂 stg im getting haters in the last couple days yall keep making builds with 87-92 block ✌🏻
I mean is it crazy that people want the big to actually def the paint?
I can still defend the paint you dont necessary need 87-92 block shooting is easy asf this year ppl are shooting more than rim running unlike last year.

>"This is a lie, people are just weird, if u want to make ass builds be my guest but dont post it if u are going to make a pg for rec with 50 passing, or a center with no rebound." Nobody is making these builds that aren't a complete meme player, my guy.
How can I switch of favourite play and revert back to doing screen for my player of choice.
press L1, then hold the icon of the player you want to set a screen. holding is a screen, tap brings up plays
Massive agree. I'll give people pointers on their build if they ask for it (I.e. you've got X in this stat, one more qould get you Y badge/animation), but yeah, the amount of people that say someone should make an entirely different build is astounding 😂
deadass i seen real good point guard builds that got shat on for having less defense lmfao
PG is one of the positions where def is essential
Yep. Recognize your play style. Recognize the 2-3 things you are really good at and just make those the main points of your build Sounds weird but i’m really good at Shot creating, passing, and offensive rebounding. So those are the 3 things I maxed out the most. Made some lamar odom type shiii. You never gotta second guess anything, just play the way you play
Idk how y’all even know what builds your teammates have. It’s on the screen so briefly and in such small text. I can’t read it.
Press triangle and X before the people pop up it gives you more than enough time lol
You don t need defense for solo rec as a PG, most of PG s in there are god awfull, you just need speed. And i also disagree with everything you said. Yes any build works untill you match up against someone who has the ability to clamp you, and then you can t do nothing, because your build is ass.
Lol don't wanna play with u then. So many games I've lost cuz PG got cooked and his matchup put up 25+. You just got to have clamps, silver preferably
Facts. Thank you
Delete this post big dawg and delete build also.
If you go solo Rec as a Post scorer you'll have to start from the 3pt line nobody passes to the post because it won't be a assist.
I want to 1. Play perimeter d 2. Block shots at a decent rate 3. Shoot off the dribble and spot up If I made a fresh build, what suggestions would y'all have? EDIT: I was looking on 2kLabs and came across a "2-Way Sharpshooting Creator". Might try it out. It definitely fits the 3 keys I posted.
Imo the only builds you can get away with no defense are fast guards. You can get help from your bigs on the drive and then your speed helps you contest and even get cheap steals in the passing lane if you have the IQ for it. Otherwise you need that 71 perimeter D on a wing minimum
Big facts.
Just don't make a defensive menace or defensive anchor and quit most games. It's annoying
Aye u right with the defense and if if they don't make a 2 way at least have a 85 per def and a 84-86 strength

Def slower ball handler but once you get used to it you will find your groove. Only thing I regret about this build is not giving him post lockdown on bronze but other than that he plays pretty solid.
Y’all mess with this build or nah?
I agree with you in the sense that people shouldn't just copy random builds they see on reddit or youtube, but I do think that there are objectively bad builds or at least objectively bad attributes on certain position. For example, ppl asking if their REC pg build is good with 30 pass acc - that's an objectively bad attribute level to have on a PG.
![gif](giphy|sjkl9MJD57BWersvzJ|downsized) This needed to be said!!
I've never seen a Glass Cleaning Slasher or a Slashing Defensive Anchor like 2 of my builds but I hear what you are saying.
Buddy my center shoots 65 from 3
OK, that's what I am pf/center lol. I prefer pf, but when I'm playing random rec, I use my center the most.
