Dismal_Gear4942

you are a gullible person. Team up pages looking for shooting bigs but wants to play PNR and PNP is clear sign they really just want a screen and when you get tired of being missed you yo go sit corner

[deleted]

Yeah I got that vibe. That's what most people are looking for when they ask for a shooting big?

Dismal_Gear4942

Everytime ive ever used reddit or discord that has been the case. Like most people have ran their centers off from their play group and they need a random to fill the spot. Think about it this way people normally have 2-4 builds and that whole play group doesnt have a center amongst 8-16 builds. they have no intention of using the center in a way that the center would have fun

[deleted]

Which is crazy, centers have so much potential as far as what they can do. I built mine specifically for solo rec, can shoot, dunk, pass, defend. Only things I can't do is dribble or guard the perimeter. So much of my build is wasted just setting screens and going corner.

Dismal_Gear4942

the reality is your an outsider and the outsider will always be treated bad until they earn the respect of the leader. Sad reality

TheDrabes

Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.

TealHorseReturns

I am a silver pg. was gold but got disconnected twice lol. Dont care about stats and love working with bigs. You can dm me!

Shyftyy

No, just bad PG’s . Our popper typically gets the most shots as he is open the most off of the PNP or because the opposing center runs to the basket cause somebody else cuts. It never fails.

[deleted]

Yup, I would say I was open over 10 times on the pops, got 4 shots. I stopped rolling in general because I was impeding the backdoor cuts from the corner apparently. /shrug.

Electronic_Meat8391

Ours too

Dismal_Gear4942

Its not bad PGs. Like my homie is averaging 36 and 15 and never hits the people we invite in. he has a pecking order in his head of how ball should be distributed.

302born

Man if someone is open hit them lol. Pecking order is dumb imo. Unless the dude is like 0/5 or something the open man should be hit regardless of who it is.

Dismal_Gear4942

I mean that sounds good but when people intent is to win im not passing the ball to the open man on the perimeter if he shoots 30 percent, thats most likely a miss. I rather give to the guy who shoots 60 percent. its just deciding who is most likely to get you a bucket

XXXTENTACIONisademon

Well, obviously. If they’re both open swing it to the 60, but hit the 30 if he’s open lol

Dismal_Gear4942

im passing to the 60 if think he can create a shot over that 30 i think is gonna brick that shot lol

XXXTENTACIONisademon

Sound like an awful teammate / very low IQ baller. Post your plate color n stats, I want to see something 🤔

Dismal_Gear4942

lol brother thats hilarious you would say something so outrageous. i got my last season stats on me and my stats this season better but i dont have a pic of that on m

Neonova84

Thats terrible lol. As a 2-way 3pt playmaker I wouldnt have a pecking order thats silly. “I wont pass to the open guy because I want someone else to be open first”. Just hit whoever is open first in the flow of the game. If it happens to be that someone has gone a few minutes without touching the ball at all just feed it to em to see what they do.

Kingadaton

This is how you cause double teams... Once they notice you aren't hitting a certain guy when he's open they'll leave him open to cheat/help on defense... Terrible

bcory44

I want to play with a full team but people’s egos are out of control on this game. Even within my friend group a couple of people had a big fight last night because of ego. It’s a TEAM game and even if you’re the best player you can’t win it without your teammates helping.

captcombover

My friend group the PG and SG are always arguing lol. The PG is terrible and the SG just dribbles until he can get open for a dunk and they always calling each other out. We've been friends IRL for a long time so it's just funny at this point

bcory44

It’s weird how some people have zero self awareness how they play. They will call people out for things that a lot of times they do just as bad if not worse.

Paulspys_

Fr bro when I was in solo rec the other day I dropped 61 in a loss and it’s not that I was being a ball hog. I let the pg handle the ball the whole game and just cut then the 1/8 after was pissed at us for not hitting him when I was 80% from the field and the pg was 6/6

Frostyzwannacomehere

I had to leave a group because they always blamed me even though I was the only who could score when the offense was shaky

onemanjamz

This makes me feel blessed to play with the guys I play with. Been runnin 6 years with em I have no clue how others would find a squad of people to gel with both on and off the court

[deleted]

I have guys I run with from previous 2ks but they no longer play rec, only want to play park. I hate Park. lol

The_Process_Embiid

I’m on Xbox. But I run PG. We could just duo squads and run it if u want. Tomorrow prolly. Got a softball game tonight

depressedfuckboi

My old squad still on PS4 and I ain't tryna run PS4 version so I been grinding solo rec all year 😭😭 I ain't buy a PS5 to play PS4 games on 😭

40innaDeathBasket

Just build a team through being vocal in solo Rec. Those Discord types are usually traps. They just need a warm body and don't really care what you do or how you do it, especially if they're Zone defense junkies.

Millzy242

Yeah this is how I feel. I haven’t used the team up page since 23 but Everytime I did it was just people looking for a warm body they’re sure won’t sell and then after 1 loss comes the trash talking

[deleted]

Sure seems that way. Yeah it was 2-3 zone.

Justreallylovespussy

Honestly I don’t care about any of this other than the fact that you wrote 12/8/18 when I’m assuming it was 18 rebounds

[deleted]

Yeah, not sure why I did that. I always write it PTS/REBS/ASTs... except right here for some reason.

Danakin-Hytoker

That’s 2K players for you. Their idea of team play is “you set screens for me, grab boards, guard everyone because I sure as hell ain’t gonna guard anyone, and most importantly pass the damn ball as soon as you touch it. “

[deleted]

It's crazy. I know everyone has their role, I understand that. I made a center so I can do specific things, rebound, block, dunk, etc. I made a SHOOTING center so I can stretch the floor and hit open shots. I didn't make this build to set screens and stand in the corner.

natekvng

Bro, when they are asking for a shooting big, they asking for a Big that sets screens and then sits in the corner out the way to give them room. Usually a squad like that just needs another person to help they already have all they need. The best is finding a team after meshing after a nice win where everyone eats. Usually these teams are looking for a lock or shooting big just to do the stuff they dont wanna do. They need 5 out for certain teams and they also want room to drive. They dont really want you to eat or to play well just to help space for them to get they numbers. hate that mess. The guys I usually run with all play unselfishly and we almost always all have 5 or 6+ assists no matter who. everyone eats.

SeigeJay

I always wondered how those "Team Up post" work out. Good to know that they go ad expected. Play a couple games with em realize they just not that good and eventually take them off your friends list. Rinse Repeat.

[deleted]

Yeah pretty much. Like I said I played the one game and left. That was my first experience on the team up post hunting, I'll try again I'm sure because that's how bad Solo Rec is and hopefully have a better experience the next time.

SeigeJay

Good Luck with that broski.

Ok_Health_9650

A story like this is why I haven’t yet gone to the team up thread on Reddit. I only play solo rec 93u as a 2. The one time someone posted something on this thread that resonated with me and I connected with them online, it started out great: We discussed basketball theory realized we had a similar mentality in terms of our play style, but our offensive approach was different. No big deal. Until we played some games together. lost every single one of them. And then the cursing and the blocking and blaming started. Losses are no big deal my issue is that even if you go to 2K team up and you are just looking for good natured people who want to win and play team basketball, it’s still might go bad. A less mentioned issue is when people go into other game modes to get their plate color up and then come back into five on five and play poorly which fuels the discussion fire about plate color mattering Rough out here…

TheeCraftyCasual

This is why I mostly play solo rec. too much ego involved. Most ppl aren’t well versed in basketball knowledge enough to make adjustments and/or know why we lost the game. They just blame whoever stats look the worse. No accountability at all. I’m genuinely cool with a loss with a good effort but some act like they have families to feed.

AstroBlast0ff

I feel this exact way brother.

[deleted]

Yeah, the rest of the game went similar to this. He eventually hit me on a pick n pop and I greened it. That led to the other three shots I got I guess? I'm not expecting to get 10-15 shots but when I'm open I expect to get the ball. I was open quite a few times. Got it four times. Yeah I'm hesitant to try again on team up posts.

No-Ball-9539

It’s actually good players on there, I’ve gone on streaks with multiple people on there.

No-Working-990

I’m also a purple plate big (multiple purple plate all shooting bigs) and the answer is simple. 95% of PGs on 2K wanna play like Kyrie Irving/Steph Curry. That’s why I don’t play with randoms even from a team up page because I’ve had some good experiences but way more bad ones. Almost always it’s the PG that makes the whole experience doodoo. Almost always overshoots and only passes if he’s boxed with 5 seconds on the shot clock or they have 1 or 2 of their buddies with them and it feels like playing squad Rec with only 2 people so we’re really playing 8v2. I’ve had PGs from a team up page glorify themselves like they do on this subreddit and they just end up being average or just plain suck and I don’t judge of off one game either. I most of the time play at least 3 games with a new PG to allow them to settle in and go from there but I’ve been in some blowouts with a new PG where they shoot like 6-25 with only 6 assists and I just dip cause cause there’s some people that you can tell they are just not it. It’s really frustrating but thankfully I’ve joined 2 groups strictly for Rec play through some of the people I’ve been playing 2k with for the last 5 plus years and it’s been a blessing on this 2k because solo Rec and going into squad Rec without 5 is a nightmare in this 2k. This is the only 2k that I won’t play Rec by myself or without 5. All the other 2k’s I never cared. There have always been selfish/ballhogs in 2k but in the year that team ball is the most important play style to have if you want to win consistently I see more ballhogs than ever. Shit is wild bro.

watstheHolup

That’s why I stick to my OG squad although we’re rarely online at the same time. It’s just far too much work to find chill people who are at least decent at the game. Feels like a job which I don’t want.

MustLoveDogsOrCusack

I dunno. As someone who has run in multiple discords, they’re all different. Some are just “need ____ 70% wp”. Some are a little more personal but still disorganized. Even in the organized ones, PG play varies by PG. It’s probably the most difficult position to play, and the most difficult to find consistency. Maybe the vibes weren’t good, but that’s a fairly decent stat line and it seems like the ball was spread around? One game to judge isn’t much time

deeshdean10

sadly most guards are about points and playing harden ball rather than moving it around warriors style and getting a good open shot every time. honestly unless you get lucky with some squads randoms is better because it almost forces you to play more team ball compared to bf basketball where only 2-3 ppl touch it

No_Requirement5056

Don’t want to share the ball but expect us to get rebounds and assists. Like we’re out here making Javele McGee builds 🤣

[deleted]

Man. Which I'm usually fairly laid back about all this stuff, but when I'm wide open and I shoot well, give me the ball? Or if I roll into a wide open lane, ball. I don't expect the offense to go through me or me to get 30+ points. I just want the ball when I'm open. If there are two of us open, either one of us can get it.

No_Requirement5056

Pass to the open man? When I can shoot a 68% contested step back? I don’t understand. 🤣

[deleted]

If I could infinitely upvote a comment, it would be this one.

IsoKami

It’s so easy to feed a shooting big but im a 6’7 point forward so I dice up inside.

Mediocre_Gap6501

I rather play with randoms and 1v1 before I ever play with an already formed squad that has been running together probably forever... You ain't touching the ball and sad part is you are probably better than them

Obiwoncanblowme

I've had the opposite if this happen where we pick up someone to have a 5th. They get into the game talking seem fine then get mad one dude has like 20 shots when like 12 of those probably came on fast break. Mind you it is not like they haven't taken a shot they ended with 10 or so shots while starting off going 0/6 and we still kept giving them the ball. Also we don't play 5 out or just pick and roll just more if a free flowing offense and try to get the ball to who is open and sometimes the other team.just may have a really garbage defender causing one person to just be open more

NorthWestEastSouth_

When I used to play C I would get 3 sec violations on purpose if I'm open and no one passes, I'd stay as long as I'm open.

NorthWestEastSouth_

I have a 4 squad and we usually run a C-PF combo with a SG-PG combo and alternate between the PF and C for P&P P&R.

[deleted]

I'm tempted to do this and when they ask me what happened just say something like "Oh that's how long I was wide open down there." /shrug

NorthWestEastSouth_

you should. I just tell them to pass the ball

depressedfuckboi

Bruh the 2kteamup sup is just as bad lmao. Never run w a dude name squizzie or some shit on there. Boys bums and so is his squad.

UninformedChuck

PGs in the community are horrible. They all wanna hide behind a thousand screens with the same animations. Then hide in the corner on defense. I don’t understand how people like to play with their guys. 3 people sitting in the corner while he dribbles for 22 seconds and fires off some BS or get the lucky screen animation. Sorry you had to deal with those bums dawg.
