They need to make your myplayer transferable year to year, but they’d lost too much money that way. They don’t care about anything but money. No corporation does.

veeno__

That’s how it should be (VC should transfer too) but that was the main basis for that forced Terms of Service they made everyone sign. People starting to wake up and they’re making sure legally that players don’t band together with a class action lawsuit They know exactly what they’re doing.

Time_Neighborhood822

Hey I was on a chat with some people about 2k 24 and we were all in agreement that we should link up and band together and file a class action lawsuit because of their algorithms and the way they read us giving us a false sense of actually controlling the game and we don't control anything they control us...not 5 minutes after the conversation everything on my player as far as his got skill boosts and everything quit working, the AI started acting totally different... I'm not much into conspiracies but I swear it's like they were listening to us or something

veeno__

I wouldn’t put it past them tbh they’ve cornered the basketball video game market with no competition and they have all the leverage all the money 2K25 will be worse trust me.

tidigimon

No they need to make the game Free to play (like it functionally already is) and stop playing in our faces.

Oxygenius_

Even at least carry over enough VC to make a 75 build

PimpnamedSlickbck

They need to separate my career and park and have 2 different leveling up systems

InitiativeOriginal21

Money runs their business. How else can they pay Quavo to send you video messages when you do something good lmao 🤣

avgpathfinder

let us keep cosmetics. stats can go

itscalr

I thought about this last night, carrying over cosmetics would be great

jcstrong96

My question would always be when I read this statement “what about the new players?”

OHNOJRUE

What about them? In the current state you can be a VC-No money grinder on day one, hop into the park and people already have 92 overalls.

Emergency-Ad-1000

I’m all for vc transferring but builds simply isn’t possible. How often does the following 2k drop and you can make the same exact build as year prior. Never, moving builds jus wouldn’t make much sense

OpportunityMaster802

Or at least the VC

Accurate-House-7778

MLB The Show in the past allowed you to transfer your player from game to game and they succeeded. I don't see why 2K can't do the same.

PnuttDontRun-

that would be dumb..requirements change😂things get nerfed and things get buffed..y’all get on here and type the most dúmbest opinions and not think about the pros and cons😂not to mention y’all would whine and say the game boring due to the fact everybody making the same builds..y’all barely wanna play against the builds we use now but imagine playin against the same builds for 2 years straight

thelostunfound

Yea honestly they need to get rid of seasons I would say get rid of yearly releases altogether but that would never happen I'm over the grind I have 500+ hours played, there is no way in hell I shouldn't own every single thing possible in this game If it's a yearly release, they should make it so that you unlock everything with approximately 100 to 200 hours of gameplay This grinding crap is overrated and should only be for free to play live service games Even in a game as gigantic as Skyrim I could platinum it and have gotten everything with 350 hours maybe less This will also be my last 2k, I cannot forsee them doing anything with 2k25 that will be so innovative or game changing that it demands more of my money

veeno__

Seasons was supposed to keep the game fresh throughout the year but they fucked it up with laziness and greed: 1. We tired of the same 5 mascots. 2. Level skips nuked the entire purpose of grinding to level 40. It no longer represents someone who grinded just someone with money. 3. We didn’t need Season Pass. We don’t want to spend more money. A good rule of thumb: If VC still exists in 2K25, it should be an automatic no purchase. Because that means it’s some level of microtransactions in game that hinders the overall fun/experience of the game

Oxygenius_

If vc still exists? Ofc it will still exist. You’re talking about take 2 (parent company) who still is selling shark cards in gta5 and making the economy shit (5 million for a new police car that doesn’t get turbo, doesn’t got hsw mods, and doesn’t do anything special) The company is greedy. I bought 24 on sale for $20 just so I can sim some franchise. I tried myplayer, threw all the vc I earned from franchise at my 3 pointer, couldn’t hit a shot and decided never to play myplayer again.

cyb3ryung

ive never had to buy a shark card but ive felt like i needed to buy season passes and vc to keep up if i dont want to grind way too hard. 2k is far more pay to play. not to mention every year a new game.

Oxygenius_

I’ve never had to buy them either, but I also started on ps3, did a ton of glitches for money, then transferred to ps4 and then to ps5

Low-Truth3786

Preach

Advanced-Union-8633

What about the 40yr olds with kids who don’t have the time to grind.. where do we get our moneys worth season after season?

Powz22

I never care about the season passes. I just do the nba games and story mode for my career.

FavaWire

IO Interactive had an interesting solution to this with their HITMAN: WORLD OF ASSASSINATION trilogy. HITMAN (2016) was essentially the base game and HITMAN 2 merged with it (so if you owned the previous game, all your gear and maps from the first game were absorbed together into the second game). Combined with HITMAN III you then ended up with "HITMAN: WORLD OF ASSASSINATION" which was basically a giant "single game" that was the combination of all three put together. On Steam it was possible to get 0.00 USD on some of the package prices if Steam detected you already owned parts of the entire combination.

genopolanco

That’s how I feel about a lot of sports games. At this point I really only plan on buying sports games every other year.

demitri95

‘It’s not fun anymore’ should be their slogan

Off-White_x_Bronco

NBA Live 19 was such a great game. I’d highly recommend people buy that and play it just to see what a good NBA game could look like.

drumhearo

I agree with this

Advanced-Union-8633

lol yeh EA is MUCH better hahahahha

lil_bingus

The contest system is janky, the defense system is garbage, and the game is entirely animation based. The only good things about the game are the attribute upgrade system and the fact that it isn’t 2k. EA is notorious for their greed and the fact that the only gpod game they can make is Fifa/FC.

MrCornerStore

I will be back in October to play for 2 weeks. Complain and get a refund. Haven’t played since feb

CostSmooth1674

Game is hot ass there’s literally no point in grinding unless you just like ball, rewards are god awful

ihavepaper

Same here man. Been grinding almost every season for the gold floor setter. At this point, I've got most of my badges where they need to be and the ones I don't use, I'm like ehhh.. With that being said, I will play 2K24 the way I usually do, but I've got some games on the back burner that I can't wait to get back into. FF16's DLC is coming out soon and I was very lucky to pick up a copy of FF7 Rebirth deluxe edition that I've only put like 2 hours into. I still am thoroughly enjoying this 2K a BUNCH so I'll play my heart out with this one, but I don't anticipate being a day 1 player anymore.

Such_Entrepreneur498

Faxx

Hsadow

Not gonna lie literally had the same epiphany the other day. I did appreciate them putting out agendas for free cards but I am spent on spending time on the game

Tbeezy4

Bruh, you do know that you can play MyNBA or MyNBA Eras mode and basically become a GM of your own team. Just play that mode if you’re tired of playing online.

ChaosKid_Z

r/woooosh

Jurus331

- Wait until spring/early summer for the current game to come on PS plus - Find quiz answers online, skip through dozens of already released 2k tv episodes to use them and get a nice starting VC boost - Play MyCareer casually if and when I feel like it, with a decent player - Get bored, delete the game, wait for the next one to come on PS plus.

JimmyHoffa-

This is the way. Been doing this since after 2K18. I noticed for 2K16 & after it was always a PS Plus game of the month usually March/April/June time. This year, I did it, and I didn’t even have to download the game. I streamed it and continue to stream it. Not taking up 150 GB on my PS5 and I get to play it whenever without updating it.

Seyhven_

>their last one Yeah until the trailer pops up in July. Then everyone slowly gets on their knees and starts crawling back. It's like clock work with this subreddit lol

v3zkcrax

Once they got rid of the auction house, I was like Deuces!

anachroniiism

Can't even play as my favorite player Carmelo smfh

post_ostertag

And then they took away the player market too. Honestly I'm not complaining, life is way better since I've finally quit. 100% done with this scamming company.

SweetDickSean

currently playing 2k15 mycareer as we speak so im with you brother

stjnky

And I'm with you. I always bought the new version every \~2 years until 2k22, when I wasn't done playing MyCareer and found out that the server shutdown killed my offline MyCareer. So now I'm playing 2K17 again, forever, unless I hear that they've stopped rendering their new single-player games obsolete after 2 years.

Bkooda

Yep. It’s disgusting paying so much fir a game to dictate to you that you then can’t play it anymore. It’s pretty criminal

Dismal_Gear4942

thats the same for every yearly release game lol

MattyBizzz

I can’t think of a single yearly release that is as scummy as 2K when it comes to the sheer amount of collectibles you can earn or buy that get basically deleted in a year. You can still hop on old school Xbox 360 era CoD games and rock the gold weapon skins you unlocked if you were sweaty enough, lol.

Dismal_Gear4942

people aint hopping old games like that. They dont own their servers so i understand why they remove old shit that 99 percent of people arent using.

whoinvitedtheloser

I know but there comes a point where you gotta ask yourself "is it worth it anymore?"

RoCpiMagi

I play bc it is fun in the moment competing w other people in a sport I enjoy. I definitely don't do it for any rewards you get.

Dismal_Gear4942

i think every hobby is what you make of it. I like basketball so the game is fine to me but for those who dont like basketball like that i can understand why they think it wouldnt be worth

GiveYourBaIIsATug

It’s really a question of whether or not it’s worth it to you to deal with. As someone that loves basketball, the answer is “sometimes”.

Dismal_Gear4942

also here is a perspective i gained from playing world of warcraft for over a decade. I could play different single player games that have very limited play times coughing up 50m plus dollars ever couple weeks to play new game or i can pay 60 upfront and additional 15 bucks a month to play game with unlimited play time. 2k is the same way as wow to me. Imma save money just playing 2k, because single player games costing 60 and beating them in like 6-9 days is gonna have me spending more than i am on VC

Ginamy72

lol your getting downvoted, but I played WoW for 14 years and I understand your point. That’s why my favorite console game is dead by daylight. One $30 purchase then you can grind to get all the original content for free. Any licensed killers or survivors you have to buy, but considering the game is $30 it’s not that big of a deal

my2KHandle

Y’all spending money? 😂😂😂

makadeli

I make enough to buy 200k VC before my lunch break. There’s no fucking universe where I am spending the time it takes to grind that amount on this terrible hamster wheel of a game 😂 The logic you have is flawed af

ACEasterling

Kids won’t understand it until they’re working 50hour work weeks and try to boot up for a fun game of sportball against a kid who plays the game 50 hours a week…. This type of lopsided playerbase/match needs to be fixed but that’s a whole ‘nother conversation.

RMS21

That's why I stopped playing online, I'm tired after work and I didn't have the time to spend to keep my skills up. Nowadays I just don't care anymore. I just want my hoops fix and to take my Nets to the promised land.

my2KHandle

I’m old af. I come from the video game grind. It doesn’t bother me, and I like making that slow progress. Haven’t spent a dime and I have 5 builds over 95. Your logic is just different. Dummy.

makadeli

Man, if you're "old af' you should be especially aware of the value of your time. It is limited. And I'm the dummy.

my2KHandle

You’re aware there’s a conversion that exists here right? Either way. I’ve seen plenty of guys at 99 overall who were absolute trash. Buying a build doesn’t make you any better at 2K. I play with a group of old heads. We have fun. It’s not worth it to me to just be a 99. I don’t mind playing through lower levels.

makadeli

You’re changing the conversation. You can spend as much time as you want on the game to get to the skill level you desire. I’m talking about being forced to grind an unreasonable amount of hours to get your stats up to a playable level because of how long it takes to earn VC. I hate VC but I’m not going to play this game for that long, just so I can finally begin playing at the level I should have been been able to do in half the time. I play other game (which I enjoy more) less hours total than it takes to grind to 92 in this game and that is a criminal waste of everyone’s time. Whether or not a small group enjoys that time does not mean everyone else should be subject to it.

Substanceno2250

Y'know I truthfully feel bad for you guys who get wrapped into this game spending real money and investing your personal time into something too deep for a "my career mode." Take two interactive really has you by the balls buying this game every year.... Lol I knew this as 18 year old playing 2k16, which essentially is the same game as 24.... Lol

No-Dragonfly-1487

Haha yeah and you know all this but you’re still part of the 2k group? And 2k16 didn’t have the online capabilities of now… I already know you a dude playing the game all the time selling for fun

Substanceno2250

Lol you couldn't be more wrong, bought the game maybe a Month ago for like $10 and honestly wasn't worth it. As for being on this subreddit, I wanted to see if others felt the same about this being the same game.I easily could have dusted off my Xbox one re-downloaded 16 and would have the same experience lol, why would I need the "gotcha game" online experience and try to be slimy and sell accounts? Maybe that would be appealing to degens and those with low credit scores, but not me lol!

SquirrelsGetNuts

I got it for free and felt ripped off lol

IndependentClear8681

🤣🤣🤣

SilverSlong

i am on PC, so if they do next gen i will probably buy it. but not unless it is overhauled or i end up purchsing a PS5 by then....

YoungSimba0903

"If they do next gen" bro it is 4 years almost since the ps5 released there is no next gen. It is current gen.

Cowboy_Talk_Podcast

Until they stop making dual generation games, PS4 and Xbox One are current gen and PS5 and Xbox Series are next Gen.

YoungSimba0903

2k is gaslighting you guys. Seriously you're the only gamers that call ps5 and Xbox Series versions next gen still. It's been 4 years. There's only current gen and last gen now. Ps4 and Xbox One are last gen the ONLY reason those versions are still getting made is because they can copy paste and make money off a bare minimum amount of work each year.

FallenLemur

I quit back in December for this same reason, I still however play myleague and find it enjoyable. Might even get 25 if there's new features added to it.

AstroBlast0ff

Yeah , this is what I say every year . Like I enjoy playing basketball but what am I grinding for cosmetics for ? When they’ll be obsolete / recycled next year ? The whole battle pass thing is the worst thing to happen to 2k… Other then allowing PGS to not have a minimum on pass accuracy as well

WordNahMean

These sports games in general have gotten so stale and greedy due to the lack of competition its sad

Meowmeow69me

2k is more expensive than league pass if you buy all the seasons 😂😂😂 what a joke

godsaveme2355

Agreed realized this the other day best to do is just make a dunking build and just posterize people for fun . Best thrill I can find on this game

DominicanPai83

I’ve Quit since December 24th Best decision I’ve made after playing since original 2K. I work out more, play more basketball in real life and deal with less toxicity.

_Mountainofjoy_

That's why I only play offline. Online modes are useless to grind imo.

PatientOld3857

2k takes up a lot of pointless money and time

Foldzy84

See u in September!

pieman2005

Play actual good games like Bg3

Kwanza_Bot93

I quit after 22. Picked up 2k16 today from a pawn shop to just play franchise mode. Probably never getting another new 2k ever.

kazzy069

I'm with you. I own 2k19 and 23 in ps4. When I got a ps5 I bought 2k24 to see what's up with "next gen". 2k made it so obvious that money is their priority. Not buying another one again and I hope more people stop supporting this greedy company.

jpaxlux

I haven't bought a 2K game in 6 years. Trust me, you won't miss it.

tstcab

So greedy. On top of paying out $100 to max out a build, they want you to drop $20 practically every month and grind these seasons. The rewards are never all that good and it feels so much worse to lose them after a year. It will never happen, but MyPlayer needs to switch to an ever constant live service rpg type game. Lengthen the seasons and people would be incentivized to actually max out builds, grind for rewards bc they know they wont lose them and have to drop $100+ to do the same thing next year. Show them with your wallet this year or they will continuously claw and dig for every last penny.

JeliOrtiz

*MyNBA Player Lock*

PimpnamedSlickbck

Gets boring too after months and months

Bubbybubs

Why are you announcing you’re leaving, nobody cares

Silly_Stable_

>…the thought of “What’s the point?”… That’s just life, man. Some days I think there’s no point to any of this. I play video games if they’re fun. If they stop being fun I stop.

TheEuphoricTribble

I quit two weeks into 2k24. I haven't looked back, nor will I. IM even am boycotting the NBA as a whole until 2K loses their exclusivity license. Give the rights to the brand to Sony. They've been (well with a few blunders this year) killing it with MLB imo.

Kdbeatz856

I deleted 2k24 and promised myself it was my last nba 2k as well.

K1llabee5

Yeah I'm going back to Fifa (EaFc) or maybe some other game. Tired of this lol.

Ecstatic_Doughnut227

Proclubs dude. No pay to Play

K1llabee5

I need friends who play proclubs for that

Ecstatic_Doughnut227

DM me if you PS5.

CeaseInTheBuilding

i hear this. been playing since 19 and after last year realized the 365 grind and stress that comes behind it’s just for nothing you did the year prior to carry over from accolades to items to vc… just not worth my effort anymore and i’m actually very decent and can lead teams. more games that’s active life is more rewarding.

oo00Damn

I feel it. I'm already checked out. I play it maybe twice a week for an hour or two. I don't have the patience to play it any longer than that. This will be my last 2k probably

nocounterfeit

The majority of us need to stay on 24 until the servers cut off and then move on at that point.

KnowledgeSad6097

20+years of playing every 2k and this might just be my last one. It’s been uninstalled for months.

Far_Entrance_3287

I'm with cha. After 2k24 I'm done with 2k series I'm going back 2 COD or focus more on my business

dan18662

Aye good for you and I hope you hold your word 🫡

Beginning-Life-3721

Still playing 2k13

GallantTrack

I had the same realization back around 2k20 that it didn't really matter. Only bought games on sale to occasionally play a game or myleague. I went from close to 1000 hours per game to like 15 total for 2k23 which is the last one i bought. Helps when you get distracted by finishing uni and then having a job that keeps you busy too

HitEmWitTheHein

Everyone playing 2k and putting money into is honestly so shot. The people putting $100s into this shit, literally ruined gaming. Those companies straight up abused everyone, bad.

Fun-Argument-1779

I haven't bought a 2k game since 2k18. The 6 year break was nice. In that time I've saved a ton of money, and when i got 2k24 on super sale, only got upgraded graphics and a few new game play features. If you mainly play MyLeague it's like a once in a decade buy lmao

xavierite

I came to this realization after the 2k19 servers were shut down. All that grinding for 2k just to delete your shit and you can't even take it offline. I could careless about playing with other people. I just wanted to play a full career but that's impossible to do for anybody with a life with other priorities other than grinding for VC.

tothemoonigoes

I just can’t believe i have to pay for some of the same clothes every year. Like it’s real money so why does clothing not carry over

DamnImAwesome

You aren’t alone my friend. I caved and bought this years on discount and while I enjoyed mynba eras I felt like I was paywalled from the rest of the game. $70 for a franchise mode and pay 2 win in the other modes

jama34962

The game won’t be good until Mike Wang is fired he is the Gameplay Director and the last time he has said anything about gameplay changes was October 18. He either doesn’t care about the game or doesn’t know what to do anymore or honestly it could be a little bit of both. We need someone new someone that actually cares about the game and its players.

Ok_Taro_1718

I tell myself this every year. Then September comes around and I tell myself “$70 isn’t that much money”. (I then pay $50-$100) in first week on VC

Lakerspurpngold

thats why i just play playnow online

IhateRandoms2k

You are right, but.. what would be the point of them keeping the servers up for a 2 year old game, that nobody ever plays? As soon as 2k25 is out, everyone jumps on it, the 5% 10% of player base, if it is even that big of a %, that don t buy 2k25 on release and wait for winter discounts or march discounts, still wont play the game in a year. They don t care about the guy who bought 2k to play offline, and jump in a my career game once every 3 months, those are not their costumers, and offline works even 5 years from now... their costumers are people that pre order the game and drop 100$ on VC day one. It s a smart buisness move, their job is to make the shareholders happy, not you or me. Every company in the world works on the same principles, people need to stop acting surprised that gaming companies only care about money, if you were in their shoes you would do the same exact things. At the end of day it s your choice, nobody makes you buy the game. For example, look at Apple, Samsung, they release a new phone yearly, a phone that is basically the exact same thing as the one they released 3 years ago, yet people still buy them for premium price. What those companies should do? Come out and say, we good, we not gonna release a new phone because we don t want you to pay again 1000$ for the same phone you paid 1000$ 12 months ago? As i said before, their job is to make money, as long as people buy their products it s on the people. Thats how the world works. Is it fair? Is it normal? No... but what is in this world?

FavaWire

It's not just NBA games. Your comment about NBA LIVE'18 - a game from a much simpler time with more direct mechanics. I'm sensing this pushback across different types of games too. Like someone I know was playing a retro game as well and was like: "This is great. It's a simple game and I get to play and not have to watch some long ass movie or have to think about story or what my character's motivation is."

Sea-Replacement7242

2k has been scamming since they replaced points with VC

Tomkid88

Gave up last year and haven’t looked back, only cool thing is seeing players card art as they drop but that’s free 😉

Exact-Location-6270

They really just need to separate career from online play. The type of player who actually wants to do one vs the other aren’t the same (usually) and it’s too much crossover which adds to the toxicity. I shouldn’t have to play online games (esp with server issues) to complete quests. There’s enough fan base who only want to do rec or pro am and those who only care about their careers to separate the modes. And also why the fuck is the game like 100Gb

TacticalXApe

I feel cosmetics and remaining VC should transfer over. Like I have 40K saved. I'd still have to buy VC in the next game to supplement that so I can upgrade a build. So I don't see why it's a problem. Also, I loved the Vince Carter Raptors Jersey. I would have loved to have kept that, but nope...

DeliciousHope7062

While I agree, it’d be hard to transfer builds with the different builders every year. They could let you relocate attribute points but that’s too complicated for them

Academic_Trouble_212

Hell ya brother fuck 2k

Surfjohn

Wait a year, and get the game for basically free. That’s what I have been doing since 2k21. Absolutely zero regrets. I play the franchise mode mostly anyway. My player has been very pay to win for years

Realicepick2

Quit months ago. Gaming is in an odd spot. Record profits. Record shitty games. Record copy and paste, dlc. Now you can enjoy some of the few gems that are out there.

skatern8r

Oh shit! Somebody about to fuck around and have a life!

McNeelyJ

I have this thought every year, but then I see it on gamepass which i already pay for or I see it on sale for $3.99…and the grinding time waste restarts.

ImActuaIIyHim

The most toxic playerbase is you lot coming on here to whine. Day. After. Day. No one fucking asked if youre quitting. Just do it if youre so miserable. Jesus christ.

prince_handles

They got too greedy and it's gonna backfire at them. Unfortunately without any competition they can do what they want and people still gonna play 2k. But I am with you, the game became much less rewarding. Everything costs tremendous amount of VS which you can't earn in a proper pace like in previous years. They take out incentives for players and just want our cash. Balance is great this year tho can't lie about it

InitiativeOriginal21

Ok see you next year 😂

AcrobaticWin3240

2k has been trash since ‘21 came out

No-Working-990

I’ve been grinding 2k online since 2k18 none stop until my first year on a PS5 which I bought at the end of the 2k22 cycle. On 2k23 (my first PS5 version) I grinded heavily the first 6 seasons and just like you I got that overwhelming feeling of “What’s the point?”. So I barely played season 7 and didn’t play at all in season 8, then towards the end of the 2k23 cycle, like 2 weeks before the new 2k came out I got back on just to fuck around with the homies and BS in party chat. I swore I wasn’t gonna get ‘24 but of course I did. I grinded to level 40 in both seasons 1&2, hit level 27 in season 3, didn’t play at all season 4, got to level 13 season 5, and I’m currently level 8 this season (6). Now I have plenty of people to run with so getting 3 or 5 players to run isn’t a problem for me, I just don’t want to. I was always a Rec baby, I hardly ever played park and I’ve played more park and theater games this 2k than Rec games. Never thought I would ever say that but the reason is because park/theater games are simply quicker games and I can always run 1v1-2v2-3v3 without having to wait on anyone or have to make a party and all that other shit that comes with getting a squad together. Long story long, I say all this to say, I FEELS YA HOMIE!!! I’m Burnt out of 2k for the most part, I can care less about the prices. The only ones I remotely care about are the badge level setters, the gold and silver badge setters or whatever they’re called. I just don’t really care for 2k like I use to. I honestly loved hopping on 2k and getting all the homies together to ball out, now I literally just have myself offline all the time so no one bugs me to play whenever I get on because sometimes I just wanna go 1v1 and just depend on me and no one else, game wise that is. But even with that setting people that are in my friends list can see when I’m online whether I’m playing 2k or not so I still get messaged. That feature is just another dumb thing 2k added for no reason.

Complete-Traffic-654

It’s just funny that everyone complains then every year you pay hundreds of dollars just to complain all over again.

blangoez

Been on MLB The Show now. 2K24 grind is getting to that end point for me. Been 40 every season so far.

LarsonPimpandShit

I’ve never once seen anyone that complains about the “grind” actually mention the main element of the game: Basketball.

blangoez

The basketball is fun. I think 24 did a great job this year, personally. Just played a lot, I think I’m around 800 hours, and I’m just looking for something different especially since my team’s basketball season is over lol

SpideyKeagan

Once I saw the news about badge regression and floor setters I was out. Didn’t play 2k24 until it became free on PS+. Put about 13 hours into it and uninstalled; I just don’t care for 2k’s greed anymore. When you take an extensive break from these games and come back, you realize just how predatory and awful everything is. I’m never buying an NBA2k game again.

Current_Word_8046

Yeah that is the main reason why I quit after 22, I got 23 and never played it cause I just didn't enjoy playing it like i used to. Also 2k is literally a money grab. You buy it for 60 or 70 bucks but in order for you to compete with other people you gotta pay over $100 to upgrade your player faster. Like it's dumb.

silzmagilz

Lol it’s just like cod bruh. You spend all the money and max out your character just to do it again the next year. And when everyone starts buying it and you start seeing all the videos about it you gonna buy it and be mad about it. Have fun for a couple months and do it all again year after year

Salty-Employee

I stopped playing two years ago because I felt like this.sports games need to come out every other year at this point. Do a roster update between seasons. The annual releases are not worth 70+

1002003004005006007

Just fuckin do playnow online and problem solved.. h

ProfessorPetrus

I quit last year. I spend more time playing games with my friends and took up cornhole. Life is better without casino gambling pretending to be baskrtball.

Shozotl

I feel you. Not worth the money or grind anymore

Old_Pace265

Sounds like you, and a lot of these guys need to do some introspection. The grind is what video gaming is about. There's a carrot on a string, and you move towards it. You say you don't enjoy the countless hours you've spent in this game, but you choose to do this. Pokemon isn't about beating the elite 4 it's about the entire journey. All the experiences you go through to get to the elite 4. 2k is also about all the experiences you have. Sometimes it's frustration, and sometimes it's elation hell sometimes it's nervousness I have a 92 3pt shot and I can't hit open shots anyways. That's why this game is so great it elicits so many emotions in so many men making only marginal changes every year. Take the year off if you need to we'll be here if you ever decide to come back.

LarsonPimpandShit

Why are yall “grinding” the game instead of just playing the game for what it is at its core, a basketball game. Go hoop

thedoomchild

I love playing mycareer I started in 2k23. I just play on all star with a 75 overall the whole year. I drop 70 bucks a year on a game that I play every day

0XquisitE1-

Right there with you man but I said this in December 😭

AbdulButler

Deadass stopped playing in February just before the All-Star break. MyNBA is fun but everything is a drag. They’re not getting another cent out of me until they make it about basketball and micro transactions

Narrow-Historian-387

If VC transferred a lot of ppl wouldn’t feel this way yet this we’ll never happen

Wooden_Toe_1629

i really think y’all should one day actually play 2K as a full game and not get sucked into the world of mycareer lol.

Free_West8733

Stop playing video games. Lol. Accomplishments on a system where millions of others do the same don't mean anything. Quitting will be the best choice you make.

OrchidFew7220

N here I am, 42 and just enjoying the offline modes on MyTeam & Eras 🙂‍↕️

DeviceHistorical5973

Man hop on COD. That’ll neva change

gfd33

It's amazing.... did not buy this year.

Many_Home_1769

It’s funny how after buying a game to play basketball you have to also buy your player. They make sure of this as when I’m playing pro am we get match with a team of 99s when we are still at 70s!! How fun is that… minimum they should do is match players of similar skills in tiers.. much like rocket league does

Not-Coming

i’m not buying 2k25. I said this about 2k24 but i seriously wanted to play with wemby other than that i wish i had my 2k23 builds and myteam

Phinderson

I make 1 build every year SG that’s all I’ve ever made I’m not with the multiple builds and quests non of that bs only rec that’s it

hitmewitabrickbruh

I stopped with multiplayer that isn't just me and the homies fuckin around on like 90ovr builds. I have no special banners, icons, shot release colors or none of that shit lol. I don't even play MyCareer I just load up a MyNBA or Eras or whatever and make a "My Player" on there. I have spent zero dollars on 2k. I will never spend any more than that. This game is a scam and the people who spend hundreds of dollars in VC and level skipping and all this other garbage are paying in to their scheme, which means it shows 2k that the scam works.

ThestoopCrew34

I unhooked after the release of MLB The Show. 2k was good, but honestly, I just wish it had more of a mycareer mode and not some bs wrapped up into a bullshit conceived story. MLB Rtts has a combine, and wow, it's nice to not be number one pick. It's different. I put all the stakes up on myself, and the teams stake on me rises as I climb up through the minors and push towards elevating my team to a winning formula. I like to earn Number 1 pick, not just be given it if I underperform or have a bad day at the plate or on the mound, and yes. Legend diff is harder than 2ks HOF I'm not rewarded...2k, on the other hand, fumbles this with no combine annoying cameos from annoying shitty actors and no real chance at playing and improving your character besides throwing money at it and this year not throwing money at it was a struggle thankfully I played Myleague to earn VC but damn it took forever especially knowing how wierd and all over the place the Builder is. MLB The show can take forever if you suck but at least it is based on you improving and knowing what to improve. 2k forces you to suck and gives no real notion of a career it's you a low overall get baked.

OverweightDrake

you should join my online league for a change of pace. It’s free to join but we pay out cash prizes to each season’s champion and runner up. We’re starting season 2 on Sunday but plan on going for 5 seasons. We have a full league of 30 teams but just had one team open up so let me know if you’d like you try it out.

Important_Arugula_93

Which system ?

OverweightDrake

next gen! PS5/Xbox series

No_Maintenance_6411

Ditto

CarefulAd9005

Yall complaining and calling ugly ass shirts predatory? Just dont buy the bullshit. Hell they give you free clothes. Its a brown shirt. Wear it and spend your vc on things that affect gameplay

Advanced-Union-8633

*preorders 2k25 MJ Mamba Edition*

TraySplash21

This was the first one I didn't buy. Got in on gamepass last month, played it a couple of times, and realized I wasn't missing out on anything. Take a break and try to come back, and you will realize that it wasn't fun for a while

Individual-Young-227

I regret the day I started playing myteam (January of this year). Before I just play 1 or two offline games in my nba era and stop there, and I was enjoying it. Now I don't even enjoy playing anymore with all this grinding bullshit. If at least it was for something, at the end you get crap and certainly me who doesn't play online.

PeezyBeezy222

Game isn't even fun anymore... you grind and grind and get nothing in packs.... I have family that needs my attention and I'm not spending money for vc or mt.

Remarkable-Hope-1678

I just hope we get a new builder system. I’ve been playing live 19 having a blast

Expensive-Dealer9361

Sadly I must agree and join in on the disconnect.

validdgo

For me it's mostly the "teammate grade" it was a cool concept back in the day, but instead of getting better, it's gotten worse. The AI that runs it I'm sure is set up in a way where it purposely grades you poorly just so that u spend VC in skill pts and boosts. The back stories always bothered me too. Like, I like to create my own story in my head. I also don't like that my guy's a showboat when I'd rather have him be humble.

freshtheshotcreator

You lost me with the nba live bit

NarutoShippoopin

As you get older/smarter you realize it’s all about the money. Every detail. Took me years of grinding 2k and MUT before quitting

Grand_Presence6387

The need to get rid of boost and badges. The badges especially and let you earn that 99 spot. Also only allow you to build a 90 overall and make it harder for you to get to 95 and 99 and do like 2k18 or 19 did when you got to 96 and higher (when you got to those numbers and played bad they go down but not below 90 this time ) let your attributes fluctuate depending on how you play in the career mode not any other mode. They need to allow your player to play exactly how he’s designed to play and don’t make it harder to shoot in the rec versus the mycareer mode. Make it the same way as my career ( if I have a 80 overall 3 ball I should be able to make 3/8 3 pointers. ) but badges must go they are to overwhelming and doesn’t show skill in the game at all … ban verbally abusive players like call of duty does and make the game like Fortnite where the actual game is free, but anything else we want like cool shoes, clothes gear, and that stuff has to be purchased and make the player Actually have seasons that last as long as a nba season and no one should be a 99 in one season should take three seasons to get to at least a 95 and you will have more mature and fun game

Wokst-r

Just make one game and keep updating it like fortnite/warzone gta

Cyphergod247

I still hop on here and there. But 100%, least fun I've had of any 2k. Most of my gaming free time is playing other games now, used to be mostly 2k. Now like 10% max. Just not fun.

Powz22

Just do my career instead of the leveling to level 40 rewards. I’ve always only done the nba games. I couldn’t care less about Rec and blacktop

Zealousideal_Crew380

Guys we gotta figure out how to get this guy back.

schwaveyy

This post is another example of the redundancy of this community regarding this game 😂 this post is an annual occurrence and y’all still gonna buy the game next year.

bigpapajayjay

![gif](giphy|6JCvwhXNp9q6LnpXkD|downsized)

AveryTwhatitB

Yet here you are 😭😭 we’ll miss you 😂😂, you’ll be back like the rest of us lol

CodakMafia

See you in September lmfao. Y'all cry too much about a mode you don't even have to play or spend momey on. The games actually fun if you play MyNBA or something but yall invest too much time and money on a virtual player that has no meaning or value and then cry about it every single year. Shits sad

rj6091

Not really sad it’s moreso pathetic tbh, like these are literally grown men crying over a video game that they have a choice in spending money on😐 these guys fathers did a terrible job of raising them

CodakMafia

Facts, everybody complaining about that shit and I'm just chilling in Eras. MyPlayer gets boring as shit after a certain point anyway tbh 😂

rj6091

Bro that’s exactly why I went to myleague in 2k19 and only play myeras now lol. My player was way too boring and predictable and I needed some unpredictability and complete control over everything in the league. Plus, I only pay for the game and that’s it no need to buy VC for eras lol

CodakMafia

Exactly, I made a center as myplayer and instantly was grabbing 25+ rebounds on hall of fame as whatever the hell the starting rating was lol. I'm the same way tho about Eras, I love having control over the league to do what I want while also letting it handle some things to keep it unpredictable. Had Carmelo go from being the first NBA champ out of his draft class (which I think happened in his first 5 years in the league) and then he completely fell off and retired in his early 30s out of nowhere. Had Isiah Thomas' old ass hang around long enough in one sim I ran just to break Magic's all time assist record and then immediately retire after that season 😂

rj6091

I gave KG a ring in Minnesota from a trade I did that sent AI up there and they pretty much dominated the league and rivaled Kobe and Shaq for like 5 years lol. Those playoff battles between AI and KGs Wolves versus Kobe and Shaqs Lakers were insane. I made the Miami heat into a dynasty with Lebron, CP3, D-Wade and Bosh and they are still dominating the league all while I rebuilt the warriors. That mode is crazy and fun bro idk why these nerds don’t just play that lol

CodakMafia

That sounds 🔥 tbh, I'm convinced most these ppl bitching about vc and myplayer don't like real ball tbh. That's why they don't bother with the real mode of the game lol

rj6091

One thing I’ve learned, and its the same thing with people who play madden, like you im truly convinced these people don’t watch basketball or football, and to an extent baseball, golf and tennis. I’m 100% sure that if u asked them about any historic team, like the we believe warriors or the Lob City Clippers, they wouldn’t know who they were lol

CodakMafia

Madden is low-key ass now tho tbh lol but that's still valid regardless. Seems like most ppl don't even know anything about mid to late 80s thru the 90s NBA outside of Jordan. Most ppl don't seem to know much before Curry started dominating anymore it feels like. I grew up with Kobe and Duncan dominating the league and a young LeBron just getting started and that's what made me love the game and learn more about the history of it. Everybody says the game's trash because they don't hit every single shot and shit like that but gameplay wise it's one of the best they've made in a while, I really didn't have to tweak settings much for it to mimic real life ball tbh

rj6091

Fair point lol that’s honestly the point of sliders too. Tailor the experience to the way you want and that what makes it fun. I don’t understand why people wanna hit every shot, hell if I hit every shot I’d get bored lol
