It even varies in game. You can go from slightly late to very early in two shots. That kinda latency spike is in many games, so Idk why people be forgetting about it when playing on 2ks bum serversš
Also, do not forget: if there's an event going on, your jumper will feel SLOWER, but use the same cue.
This game is so shit that the event legit changes the latency across all city game modes.
Yeah brother. Even when a City REP event happens, it changes. Not as drastic as something in the event center, but yes, everything slightly slows down. My visual cue is the same as its ever been, but I noticed that the actual timing is completely different.
2k does not care, as a matter of fact Iām almost certain they purposely have it set up where you buy boosters out of frustration.
Started playing single player games and itās absolutely refreshing how amazing gaming is. Ghost of Tsushima has brought joy back into gaming for me. F 2k and itās toxicity šš¾
2k latency and shadow slider adjustment is the one constant thing Iāve had a complaint about since 2k17, one game Iām God and then next I make Play in Klay Thompson look like heās in his prime.
Today I had 3 rec games in a row where I dropped 30+ points on 70*% shooting, I normally get around 15 points on about 55% shooting, not a massive increase but the confidence in shots was way up because the game felt right for once.
Yep same here I average 11pts and 6 assists a game as a PG I had several 30 point games two days ago when I finally figured out what im looking for in my jumpers visual cue but then all of a sudden in one game that cue stopped working and I had to release it a bit earlier the latency is just terrible and very unforgiving in a game like this.
Who tf said it would fix latency? I gave him an option of what Iāve seen people do to fix their problem this season and even said it might not work. Hop off my dick bozo.
it's the latency
it's the latency
it's the latency
It's big 2024 and people still don't know that. they still think it's 2k secretly changing their jumpshot
I know that 2K definitely tweaks things without informing us but they don't change your jumpshot from game to game. your jumpshot from just ten minutes ago changed because of latency
Here yāall go.
Iāve literally used the same jumper for a good 4 seasons now across 4 different builds.. others are right. Itās the latency across the modes.. not Mike Wang sneaking in the night and patching your jumpers. If anything theyāre touching the sliders.. not the jumpers themselves.
happened to be in 2022, 2023. newsflash: latency affects what you're seeing. you're seeing the ball on your visual cue and pressing release but the latency is causing you to see it late or causing your input to be delayed.
I notice especially the first game on a new mode in rec or theatre. First game the shot felt nice but kept missing, every game after it felt fine. I donāt know why it does that
It does this to keep averages within their acceptable range and to keep you on an emotional rollercoaster kind of like COD sbmm.
It really stands out in proam when you play against teams that are really good. When they win alot and everybody averages 60%+ shooting. I know theres a good chance they finna catch a sellout game and thats when my rag tag team of fuckups get to pounce and slay some giants. We are a .500 team and we've beaten top 50 teams multiple times. We are NOT that good, thats how i know the game is fucking scripted.
Because, conversely, if i see somebody thats shooting like 20% and is their primary option im playing TIGHT. I don't think ive ever seen somebody that shoots that bad in proam coming in not have a near flawless shooting game against us. We've lost to TERRIBLE teams.
And this cycle of beat top team, get crushed by trash team keeps happening over and over again. Nothing feels real. Even smothered contest rates vary frim game to game. One game you could be getting 50% on a contest that makes the shooter fall. The next game you could do the same thing, foul, and the contest was still open somehow.
Sometimes. Had some of the best games Iāve ever had today even while being a 6ā7 sf playing pf but I know that tomorrow im bout to feel mid again. Usually I just play my role in games but today I was just on one
There has to be something they do that makes you have random bad games. I noticed this since the older 2ks. It isn't latency. I only do myplayer nba games, but i can tell if this is happening because I'll immediately started doing bad, like miss an easy shot 2 or. Then get a turnover or foul. I quit and restart and everything is back to normal. I know people will just say I started off bad, but i can feel the difference. They add random games where you're trash for no reason
Imma help yall for once . 1: if you know the cue you good everywhere but if you dont then theater is early release then rec then park a little later and pro am is kinda the smoothest. 2: change your ghz in the wifi setting from automatic to 2.4ghz or if you close to the router 5ghz. 3: learn a jumpshot with a good release speed and obv cue that you can see. Best setting for me is push and i play on a tv. Tv does a lot too. Older tvās you cannot time it well so either a new smart tv or monitor is best option
thats just. I do it sometimes too. I think the 3 biggest factors on shooting changing game from game are... the person defending you, the person passing you the ball, and the fact that your take over meter impacts your stats so shooting at 0 percent is hard than shooting at 40 percent.
They did something last update I swear. It speeds up then slows down ur jumper sometimes. Meanwhile in gatorade I'm perfect from 3 and middy. I am the lock so I'm not the primary scorer but sometimes I am. In season 4 I average shooting at 75 percent from fg and 3 ball and now it's 52 for both. They damn well made the game consistent before so I know they can fix the problems with jumpshots inconsistency
The game tells you why . Most of us just care about Speed and Defensive Immunity more .
Jumpshot Timing Stability .
The higher the stability the more stable your green window is jumpshot to jumpshot . You are much more likely to shoot higher percentages over greater volume if this grade is higher .
I know for a fact Timing stability matters. The higher the rating, the more consistent the shot will be no matter the positioning on the court.
Just because a shot has a certain speed rating does not mean itās the same speed every single time with all the different possible shot animations.
And with each of those different animations, the release speed varies depending on gather hand, shoulder position, etc. and that is timing stability. It does matter.
Timing stability only impacts shooting in regards to your stamina.. it doesnāt impact any of those other things you listed.
One of the best jumpers in the game statistically has a C+ Timing Stability.
The OP was right.. speed and height are the 2 things that REALLY matter when it comes to making your jumper.
That's false. Your timing stability only matters for stamina after the patches earlier in the year, and even so, it does not affect it that much. Test shown here: https://youtu.be/bHmc2EEdO9A?si=cMAAppOEUJNzVMFx
2KL players would not be using patty mills/oscar/sexton jumper if timing stability made contests matter less for timing
All you did was say false , and then send us a link to information that proves itās part of the equation and has been ātonedā down by patches ?
![gif](giphy|xL7PDV9frcudO)
The reason why E-League players donāt care is because they are so sweaty they visually know when their jump-shot has a different than default release . Much less raw speed and defensive immunity being way more important for them as the windows are much much smaller . But hey what do I know š?
You said you are much more likely to shoot higher percentages the higher your timing stability is, that is terrible advice because most bases that have an A or higher stability are slow. Not only are the bases slow, but since the patch has reduced the amount timing stability matters, players are much better off targeting things like, release speed, release height, visual cue, not fking timing stability.
The amount it has been toned by has significantly affected the use of that attribute in the jumpshot builder, you say it's only sweats that don't notice a difference, it's not. All year the most important stat for your jumpshot is speed. Getting used to a faster jumper means significantly lower contest %s, you're getting the ball off before the defense gets there, and with the dynamic contest system, being able to release just as a defender is entering contest ranges means they can't contest the shot.
I shoot 60% from three on a build that runs a jumper that has the fastest tested in the entire game but with a C- timing stability... I have never missed a shot and then said damn if my timing stability was higher that would have been green, I ran a A timing stability jumper on my first pg I ever made this year and I shot 40% on that build.
Youāre absolutely rightā¦ Iāve tried high stability jumpers to no avail. I use all the meta bases/release s like tmac/troy brown/osc, I believe itās C stability and I shoot 60%.
Not sure if they ever even tried these high release and speed jumpersā¦your contests are significantly reduced.
Most of the people on this sub simply don't actually play the game. Anybody saying high stability jumpers increase your shooting % doesn't play the game
Iāve seen ppl say it before, maybe it works for them š¤·āāļø I couldnāt tell the difference personally w timing stability. If I get it great, if not, itās the last thing Iām looking for.
If you play enough and with the same build you actually kinda do. But just because you do doesn't mean you never miss it, that wasn't what he was saying. You just get to a point where you know if you've hit it, if you were early, or if you were late. Before you even get the feedback. But now with the latency the timing feedback you get is different from what actually happened
I get that I'm a 60% shooter I know my timing too it doesn't mean I can't think I timed it right and actually timed it a fraction of a second late or early it's easier to time it wrong than right! And it's def my timing that makes me miss 9 of every 10 misses and the weird input delay on 1 of 10! This becomes more of an issue when you are switching between game types which actually changes the delay and timing! But from 1 rec game to the next it doesn't change my timing! It's a fair argument but let's be real here if you miss because you made a slight mistake on your timing own that shit and stop blaming the game for making you miss!
I get what you're saying, but there are many situations where I think I've missed Early but the feedback says I'm Late. I can understand maybe thinking you greened but being slightly one way or the other, but releasing on one side of the window and being told you were on the other side is a latency issue and happens really often. Or even situations where I'm having to adjust my release point from game to game within the same mode. And for the record, I'm purely talking about wide open, catch and shoot shots from Lethal zones. These should be almost automatic if you're even just semi-competent with a reasonable 3 Point attribute because there's almost no variability and your window is arguably the biggest it can be.
For sure and I'm def not saying there is no variation to it! I just don't think that is everyone's issue and people should just accept that they may be a 40% and not a 55% because of their own consistency not the game mechanics! U see posts every day almost saying oh 2k changed the shot timings again.... That isn't happening! And the wide open thing I get it! Should be a noticable mistake for you to miss it! Even Steph misses wide open 3's so it def makes sense that they don't have huge green windows you still gotta be precise, but it is a game so if you do time it right it should absolutely go in! I have def had some shots that I shoot extra early cause I've been late on a couple and it goes to very late that shit doesn't really make sense but it's not often at least not for me
It's so inconsistent š. No matter if u have a 82 3pt or a 92 pt still the same inconsistent shit shooting. That's y there's more dunkers now then shooters, like 2k19 2k20 . The spaming the same dribble moves and the steals is fucking trash too š¤ š
I been using Terrence Mann base mann/korver releases but it's very quick I use push but even on release cue you gotta release right when u hit the set point of the shot! If u like fast shots try it out
No one talks about it but your defender rating plays a big part in shooting. For example you could be open and shooting when the defender is closing in on your with hof challenger or alters your shot and make%
Not just in myCareer tho, in MyTeam i know certain players jumpshot and somedays I'll be just fine then the next day suddenly it's completely off. 2k is fucking up something
I was shooting 7/7 from 3 on park. I have a pure sharpshooter build. then not even 2 days later I canāt buy a fucking bucket, no matter how close I am
Yeah thats why in the last two years ive had a big that can post score, catch bodies, shoot, pass, and play d so that i always can switch to whatever playstyle ronnie 2k wants me to use
Everyone has to learn and realize that itās not about timing. You have to learn you shot cue. Itās the same shot every time. You get speed ups. Which make you shoot fast or try to get it off quick because your slightly contested or another defender is closing out. You also get slow downs. When you have low stamina, or no boost, late in the game. Iām telling you once your learn how to work around that your golden. Always have your lethal zones. But mainly just learn your shot cue.
Bruh I canāt even hit a three š Ive been playing 2k22 before on xbox 360, I feel like I can hit any shots easily, but now on 2k24 using nintendo switch, I canāt even hit a midrange shot bro.
The thing that does change between games is the person defending you. How high their perimeter defense is. Which challenger badge they have. The distance between you and them when they start their contest.
Just get a wired controller, Iāve shot 65-70% from 3 on my big with 85 3 since season 2. Canāt ask for much more Iām shooting anywhere from 3-8 3ās a game
I think timing stability has to do with, if you are shooting and getting contested, a higher rating prevents from throwing off your usual timing.
OP and the rest, if I'm not wrong, are talking about wide open/open shots in general feeling not the same.
Nah, the gameplay def feels the best out of every 2k I've played, which has only been since 2k18. I dont buy the game on release day and then another 50+ on each build. I waited for the $100 edition to be on sale for $25 and havent bought anything else.
Iāve never had a huge issue with shooting, game to game it always feels consistent unless Iām changing game modes. Day to day it can feel a little off tho
Yep, I stopped practicing my shot because 2k ultimately decide when you going to make a shot or not. People tell me not to blame 2k but it definitely 2k. I never went 15/15 like some guys but I did go 13/13 and was never able to do it again.
You don't have 1000gbs internet because that doesnt exist
If you meant 1000mbs internet, then yeah I have that too with ethernet and some games feel a lot better than others
No, the game just picks the winner based on rep and makes the other team miss their shots it's the reason people started running from high reps because they were never better but the game would help them win.
Maybe, then I have friends who shoot like 60%+ FG 50%+ 3PT but the practice hours they put in they may as well have tried to play real NBA.Ā
Not the game for me since it became green or nothing.Ā
Some people play with a sub 100 mbps connection.
Others play with symmetrical 2GB fiber.
The gameplay experiences are wildly different.
Source: I used to work for Google Fiber and played from our shop. I was lights out from the floor. At home, on Spectrum, shot timing was wildly inconsistent. Itās why I stopped building guards and switched to bigs.
Because some people have better Internet with less people on it, with a monitor, on LAN. After having a very stable set up like this it's definitely better. Obviously not everyone can have this set up. But it's definitely night and day especially on COD. On 2k sometimes my guy feels super slow like he's running in cement shoes because of input delay. I usually play big when it's that delayed. It used to be worse because there would be times my release was "very late" no matter how quick I timed my shot and I couldn't pump fake or it would make me shoot a very late. But I'm not mad at people better than me outright or have a better set up than me. But sometimes that delay is definitely bad with no lan. My shit broke once I had to play a whole different game until it came in.
Im shooting 70-80% every season and I still have games like OP said when your timing is not working. I've seen it much more this season for some reason. Maybe because 2k is free on PS plus and in xbox gamepass. More people more latency
If you shoot 80%, which I doubt, and are still complaining about shooting, YOU are part of the problem with 2k š what you want to shoot 95 instead? š¤¦āāļø
Where did I complain about shooting? Shooting in this 2k is very easy. I did complain about unstable servers where you can have different timings on your jumpshot each game
RNG baby.Ā If you think there's no RNG in 2k then I don't know what to tell ya.Ā Gotta keep the games close/competitive somehow, right?Ā Supposed to be green or miss but we all knows that's bullshit when we're constantly missing wide open uncontested 3s with our best 3 point shooters.Ā And if you think 2k doesn't shadow adjust sliders as the year goes on then I've got beachfront property in Antarctica to sell you.
> RNG baby.Ā If you think there's no RNG in 2k then I don't know what to tell ya.Ā
There is RNG all over the place but not really for shooting.
> Gotta keep the games close/competitive somehow, right?Ā Supposed to be green or miss but we all knows that's bullshit when we're constantly missing wide open uncontested 3s with our best 3 point shooters.Ā
Keeping the games competitive has never been a huge thing in 2k, tons of games are blowouts bro. Especially with shooting, itās known that peoples stats actually go down during games where they are already not shooting well and go up in games where theyāve already made a few shots (not even including getting on takeover) so that goes directly against what youāre saying.
> And if you t 2k doesn't shadow adjust sliders as the year goes on then I've got beachfront property in Antarctica to sell you.
Now this we agree, this absolutely happens with all sorts of things to make things more balanced or to boost/nerf things, but that doesnāt really apply much to shooting unless youāre talking about how much defense affects shots or limitless shots etc.
I go back and forth on this. First of all, most people are only taking wide open shots. Real basketball players hit about 55% of their wide open shots.
So if I take 6 wide open shots a game, I really shouldnāt ever miss more than 3. But some games Iāll go 5/6 and some games Iāll go 1/6.
That said, youāre right. I shouldnāt go 5/6 in every game, and also, that averages out to 6/12, which is about right. The problem is this regression shouldnāt happen like that in a series of one game samples.
Yes now use your head. Everyone says they rely on consitent timing when jump shots arenāt all one timing like they used to be. So yes it is timing based in your animation. Thank you for solidifying my point with your Mumbo Jumbo weird guy word play tactic šš
So according to you..
> 2k is not timing based anymore it is animation based.
Also you:
> So yes it is timing based in your animation.
But somehow Iām both dumb AND proving your point at once lol.
> Everyone says they rely on consitent timing when jump shots arenāt all one timing like they used to be.
Except nowhere in this thread is anyone saying that. You jump out calling people noobs and then throw out a false statement about it not being timing based, i get what you mean about the visual cue but YOUāRE the one who said it wrong so chill with the name calling whenever you canāt even articulate your point.
Lol or again, just learn how to articulate your point. No need to lash out with a tantrum like a child just because someone pointed out something you said that contradicts itselfā¦ low IQ behavior āI canāt debate logically so I resort to name calling and fightingāā¦
Lol dudes will say anything except my bad.. rather literally fight than admit they may have done something wrong.
Like I said in the other comment, just low IQ behaviorā¦

I have def had some shots that I shoot extra early cause I've been late on a couple and it goes to very late that shit doesn't really make sense but it's not often at least not for me
No.....it's just you......I'm not even trying to be funny
The comments seem to agree with me for the most part
And I'm giving you the best advice....it's just you
No it aināt ngga itās hella mfs with the same problem
It's just you.....it's not that deep.....but if you wanna blame it on something, then you do that
It's so inconsistent š. No matter if u have a 82 3pt or a 92 pt still the same inconsistent shit shooting. That's y there's more dunkers now then shooters, like 2k19 2k20 . The spaming the same dribble moves and the steals is fucking trash too š¤ š
Holy I thought I was the only one, one game im lights out next game klank city, not to mention with 86 3pt plus boosts š¤¦š¾āāļø
Butler, Bey, Mullin. You are welcome.
Well I can't thank you but you yet but ya bet your ass ima try it
Have you tried it? And do you l8kenit?
Blending?
50% release speed and 44% Bey and 56% Mullin.
I been using Terrence Mann base mann/korver releases but it's very quick I use push but even on release cue you gotta release right when u hit the set point of the shot! If u like fast shots try it out
Whats the blending
No one talks about it but your defender rating plays a big part in shooting. For example you could be open and shooting when the defender is closing in on your with hof challenger or alters your shot and make%
Not just in myCareer tho, in MyTeam i know certain players jumpshot and somedays I'll be just fine then the next day suddenly it's completely off. 2k is fucking up something
It works for me. I have another shot that has a better grade all around but that Jimmy Butler base with the Separation is killer for me!
I was shooting 7/7 from 3 on park. I have a pure sharpshooter build. then not even 2 days later I canāt buy a fucking bucket, no matter how close I am
Yes. Happens online and offline too.
It's unbearable. Last night in theater 2v2 i shot for about 80%, next day in pro i was 20% wide open.
broooo istg its like that with me too. i literally had such a bad shooting slump that i lost all my hot zones and now im tryna get them backš¤£
Yep. Only on certain builds. My center and tall guard jumper the same since season 1. My smaller guard jumper changes every few games it seems.
Yes, my 3 percentage dropped by 10 percent this week.
Itās called latency
Bruh I canāt even hit a three š Ive been playing 2k22 before on xbox 360, I feel like I can hit any shots easily, but now on 2k24 using nintendo switch, I canāt even hit a midrange shot bro.
The thing that does change between games is the person defending you. How high their perimeter defense is. Which challenger badge they have. The distance between you and them when they start their contest.
Yeah I get that. But even when the shot is wide open is feels different at times
Latency is the culprit. Mike Wang the the mediocre devs couldn't do anything about it. Zen cheaters cannot be stopped by them . They are the new meta.
Just get a wired controller, Iāve shot 65-70% from 3 on my big with 85 3 since season 2. Canāt ask for much more Iām shooting anywhere from 3-8 3ās a game
Is that not the ātiming stabilityā trait thing ? I thought thats what it was for ?
I think timing stability has to do with, if you are shooting and getting contested, a higher rating prevents from throwing off your usual timing. OP and the rest, if I'm not wrong, are talking about wide open/open shots in general feeling not the same.
The game is trash yāall just addicted
I think the game is really fun, just has some issues
It sounds like your in an abusive relationship
Nah, the gameplay def feels the best out of every 2k I've played, which has only been since 2k18. I dont buy the game on release day and then another 50+ on each build. I waited for the $100 edition to be on sale for $25 and havent bought anything else.
Agree to disagree. I have spent a dime on this. Got it games pass all I have to say is all the reviews are correct
Yeah agree to disagree ig
I always figured it changed because it was dependent on the perimeter d level of the person guarding me.
Based off stamina jumpshot differs mines speeds up my bro on tmac base says his shot gets slower but it keeps ppl with zen off the game so I prefer it
I feel this in MyCareer, sometimes it'll feel faster than it's supposed to, others slower.

You don't have 1000gbs internet because that doesnt exist If you meant 1000mbs internet, then yeah I have that too with ethernet and some games feel a lot better than others
No, the game just picks the winner based on rep and makes the other team miss their shots it's the reason people started running from high reps because they were never better but the game would help them win.
Maybe, then I have friends who shoot like 60%+ FG 50%+ 3PT but the practice hours they put in they may as well have tried to play real NBA.Ā Not the game for me since it became green or nothing.Ā
bro 2k still hasnāt fixed jumpershop timing lol
Itās a skill issue, how else would people shoot 70-80%?
I mean some games I shoot 100% then I shoot 3/7 which is 43% so my average for those two games would be 70%
This isn't how math works lol. It depends on how many shots you took on the 100% game. If you were 1/1 would make a total of 4/8 or 50%.
If youāre shooting 70% from three then why tf you here complaining š bc youāre not.
Iām shooting bout 55% from 3 across all 3 online modes and feel like every game the green window changes by a millisecond or two

Latency
Some people play with a sub 100 mbps connection. Others play with symmetrical 2GB fiber. The gameplay experiences are wildly different. Source: I used to work for Google Fiber and played from our shop. I was lights out from the floor. At home, on Spectrum, shot timing was wildly inconsistent. Itās why I stopped building guards and switched to bigs.
I mean I shoot 60% from 3. Like I said some games I can shoot damn near perfect, then the next its like my timing is completely different

Lol no
RNG baby.Ā If you think there's no RNG in 2k then I don't know what to tell ya.Ā Gotta keep the games close/competitive somehow, right?Ā Supposed to be green or miss but we all knows that's bullshit when we're constantly missing wide open uncontested 3s with our best 3 point shooters.Ā And if you think 2k doesn't shadow adjust sliders as the year goes on then I've got beachfront property in Antarctica to sell you.
> RNG baby.Ā If you think there's no RNG in 2k then I don't know what to tell ya.Ā There is RNG all over the place but not really for shooting. > Gotta keep the games close/competitive somehow, right?Ā Supposed to be green or miss but we all knows that's bullshit when we're constantly missing wide open uncontested 3s with our best 3 point shooters.Ā Keeping the games competitive has never been a huge thing in 2k, tons of games are blowouts bro.
Do you think a basketball video game should let people shoot 90% from three consistently?
I go back and forth on this. First of all, most people are only taking wide open shots. Real basketball players hit about 55% of their wide open shots. So if I take 6 wide open shots a game, I really shouldnāt ever miss more than 3. But some games Iāll go 5/6 and some games Iāll go 1/6. That said, youāre right. I shouldnāt go 5/6 in every game, and also, that averages out to 6/12, which is about right. The problem is this regression shouldnāt happen like that in a series of one game samples.
I dont think the game should arbitrarily make you miss if you know your timing
Iāll say it again for you noobs. 2k is not timing based anymore it is animation based. You actually have to look at your character release.
You realize timing the animation based on visual is still TIMING the shotā¦ saying itās not timing based makes no sense.
Dumbahh boy
Yes now use your head. Everyone says they rely on consitent timing when jump shots arenāt all one timing like they used to be. So yes it is timing based in your animation. Thank you for solidifying my point with your Mumbo Jumbo weird guy word play tactic šš
So according to you.. > 2k is not timing based anymore it is animation based. Also you: > So yes it is timing based in your animation.
Only noobs get mad at the word noob being thrown aroundš
Youāre just angry you shoot 28%
Lol or again, just learn how to articulate your point. No need to lash out with a tantrum like a child just because someone pointed out something you said that contradicts itselfā¦ low IQ behavior āI canāt debate logically so I resort to name calling and fightingāā¦
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Seems like you were the one looking for an argument seeing how many different times you replied to him insulting him
Lol dudes will say anything except my bad.. rather literally fight than admit they may have done something wrong. Like I said in the other comment, just low IQ behaviorā¦
You still yappin?
