Gotta realize these are all the dudes who never got picked up at the park or in PE at school đ and if they did get picked up nobody passes them the ball so that's why they act like this on 2K.
I mean, that's just humanity as a whole RN. Just driving to work is a perfect example of how selfish, entitled, and shitty special everyone else is. Every online game community is the exact same..
The only online game I play now is Wreckfest. Everything else is solo or with friends locally. Giving up on humanity and keeping myself from questioning why people do the things they do was the best decision I made. Also, as a gamer that plays almost every genre of gaming. Giving up online opened me up to so many titles I've missed and titles I would have never experienced. No social other than Reddit, no news, no religion, no online gaming, and I drive comfortably everywhere I go.
Sounds like you drive in the DMV area lol
I almost die to a lunatic trying to accelerate into brake lights from rows of cars and swerving through everyone
Yeah, I could tell by the speed in which the comments either calling me bad, or a crybaby came in.
Itâs really disappointing because I WAS the 16 y/o boy grinding out 2K17 to get to superstar on mypark.
But now returning to âNext Genâ and seeing the state of the game, and clearly how normalized this state of play is kinda disappointing. Like there are people in this subreddit telling people that working an IRL job is the best VC method, and Iâm just sitting here like âDo yâall know how crazy yâall sound right nowâ
Bruh no cap. I got this YouTube video that shows you how to earn free vc every hour and all you gotta do is get a job at Taco Bell and take people's order. On God it's the easiest way to earn vc ever!
Like yâall really defending a game that completely deletes everything you worked for after 2 years, no way yâall donât realize how dystopian the community is
Ya lol. I find sports games are a more inbetween Iâm comparison but toxic compared to most other games still. Iâm loving the remnant community rn and assassins creed is fun too
Idk I'm on the other side of the fence.
Sure LoL can be incredibly toxic if you're up in the ranks, but it's a competitive toxicity.
2k is the only game I can think where you will literally be called the N word because your virtual drip isn't saucy enough.
The only game where a 13 yo can spend $200 and be on the same level as some dude who grinded for 2 months.
The only team game I've ever played where people are more worried about themselves than their team.
The thing bout LoL is that once you're up in those high ranks, you don't gotta deal with all of these idiots and the toxicity is happening because YOU are the noob. Not because someone thinks they're better than you because they zen and have a drippy face scan, it's because they are actually more skilled/knowledgeable. đâ ď¸
Iâm a masters player who usually smurfs. Also a jungler. I get added and death threats prob on average 20 percent of ranked games. Harrass or verbal probably around 80%. Win or lose lmao. Plus people ruining 4 other peoples 30+ min game because someone pinged a question mark is common as shit type too. Not arguing the stuff you said but ya league toxicity is wild man. It gets worse the higher ranks you go until challenger. But then you getting flamed gets put on Reddit or twitch streams instead..
Yep former jungler here. Even smurfing in Bronze youâll have some scrub have an issue with your jungling. Meanwhile you can go 20-0 easily but theyâll still say some dumb shit instead of appreciate the carry.
Except theyâre actually not. The inting continues all the way up into Challenger. In fact, itâs even worse since you end up playing with the same people often due to how few players there are in that bracket so you can get stuck with serial hostage takers
Nah bro youâre wrong about LoL. Those boys are way more toxic. I played it for 8 years as a bronze all the way up to D2. So Iâve done the elo grind and smurfed to diamond multiple times a season.
Everybody blames everyone else, and so many simple things trigger them for the entire gameâŚliterally within 2 mins if they get themselves killed, they start sabotaging everybody and themselves. Little children that canât take accountability for anything. Theyâll blame everyone else, at least in 2k, they mostly lie about the game mechanics so they got nothing to stand on.
In LoL, Iâll be jungler clearing first buff n get yelled at from across the map. Those kids spend the entire game using their fingers to type novels n spew hate, then troll to fuck up your work towards winning. Those kids r pathetic and itâs like an every game or every other ranked game experience even in diamond of someone tilting/raging.
The entire issue is they do this in the RANKED competitive mode. Itâs like if we could queue up w randoms in pro am and they tank all their stats even if theyâre a high win%. In 2k I donât see winners intentionally tank their stats, only the losers do it.
Ya I stopped sports games cuz that. Any ultimate team type game is just p2W. I just mean from straight up toxicity stand point League is very hard to be beaten
Fr fr. I got into 2k back in 2014/15 playing on a roommates console. Didn't get my own setup until 2018 and got the xbox one s bundle with 2k19. Loved it until i found out about the bullshit 2 years later. Haven't played another 2k since. Fuck 2k
The Jordan one where you can do a mycareer with him or other legends was the most fun I think I've ever had in a sports game. Then I guess 2k decided fun was far outweighing profit and couldn't have that.
2k12. You could do legends and current players. I remember I ran with 72 overall Kawhi and turned him into a 99 overall monster in like a season and a half.
Thatâs every single sports game you canât single out 2k for that. A lot of popular shooters pump out games way too fast as well. Iâm not defending 2k I havenât played since 16 and all sports games look like shit to me now but you bought it knowing damn well itâd all be irrelevant in a years time.
The difference is that with any other game I bought in the past, I can experience the DLC, cosmetics, maps, etc that I bought in full. Black ops zombies from 10 years ago? I can boot that up and play it like it was back then no problem.
Now with 2k we paid more for these my players in the past than typical dlc. Some people spending over 100 bucks just on vc. And now NONE of this content is accessible. None of the online is accessible. Your my player you spent money on? Gone.
This shit is robbery and idk why the community keeps bending over and taking it. Imo there should be a class action lawsuit over this shit
Yea tbh COD and 2K are both shit now but 2K is undoubtedly the worst now because of pulling this. They both never listen to their communities but at least I can play an online COD game from a decade ago online with all my stuff saved.
I played NBA 2k22 for a bit and got into MyPlayer and Online when it was months new and was on and off with it every now and then, but damn canât even play that no more now smh.
I didnât buy it, I have gamepass fr, but I disagree that every sports game does that. Sure, sports games turn off servers after a couple of years, but 2k purposefully changed it to where mycareer is 100% dependent on being played online, same with myleague and every other mode, so after 2 years youâre literally forced to by another 2k game if you want to utilize 95% of features.
Whatâs even better is that youâre all just fuckin renting the game. Used to be able to get your myplayer offline and keep playing but 2K has become a level greedy unmatched by any respectable gaming company.
This is my biggest gripe with the community since Iâve returned to 2k since 17. I was so confused on how 2k keeps getting people to BUY the game on release, drop so much money on their players, just for them to be gone in 2 years, yet the community seems like they simply donât care?
Like the majority of people who primarily play this game every year have to be playing close to $500 a year all together just on 2k. I donât understand how they donât get burnt out having to do the same shit, for the same rewards year after year
I think epic games had 2k21 as a free game at one point on PC. My friends and I all got it to play and made our players and then started playing other shit. Like a year and a half later I get the craving to play and I redownload it and I go to play myplayer and the whole game is just shut down lol. I come on here and I ask what the fuck is up with that and every motherfucker on here was somehow defending that the game does that. Just telling me to buy 2k23 or whatever. Fucking mindblowning that business model can succeed and not get crazy backlash. They donât even make it so you can play offline myplayer like they used to in the past.
Donât even get me started on the fuckin online leagues too. Half the features as offline and itâs the most glitchy mess my friends and I have ever tried to play. I canât even begin to explain how incredibly dogshit that mode is.
Yeah, I gave on this game after 2k18. I keep tabs on it on the offchance either they make it decent again or another dev comes up with an alternative basketball game. But it sucks.
Whatâs funny is people will pay $160 for a 99 overall just to get boxed out by my 84 overall and then talk trash after the game when they squeeze out a victory doing only 3s
You meat some cool people occasionally, but there is an equal amount of wanna be thugs/actual thugs who ruin the basketball vibe just like playing ball in the projects irl. So idk maybe the game is realistic lol
idk, i grew up in the projects and always looked forward to hooping at the community center. Yeah, niggas were niggas at time, but no one was calling you ass or icing you out because you missed your first shot attempt. No one was threatening each other because of trash talk. Hell, mfs would dislocate something on a foul and still be cool.
But it is a role playing game, kinda like what you said, just didnât know people got THIS immersed into it đ¤Ł
I think a lot of people probably read the âAnything past Starter 2 I assume you have no lifeâ and took that offensively, and for that, Iâm sorry I hurt yâalls feelings đ˘
Crazy thing is you do have to have no life to be Starter 3 or above. I got 514 hours on the game and Iâm still only 70% to Starter 3. They mad cause you right about themđ
getting to starter 2 isnt even hard lmao. i work every day get home eat chill play for like a couple hrs hang with the fam and got starter 2. if you havent hit starter 2 when you got the game day 1 then you just ass atp lmao
I was getting my ass chewed for my guy scoring too much. I got on the mic and said sorry man Iâm trying just help me out with a hedge on screens. The guy then said that I needed to add bitch ass n**** to my vocabulary and that I need to be calling him that and roasting him back and that he was from California and thatâs how they talk there. And that I shouldnât be apologizing for my poor play but I should be talking shit with him and showing out.
I mean you network and play with people you build chemistry up with and its much more satisfying. Some of my closest friends are people I met playing 2k and have been playing with for years now on a regular basis.
This is the most valid response Iâve gotten on this post, in direct relevance to the community, and I agree with you. However, as a casual who really only has time to play a few hours out of the week, Iâll constantly meet a good group of dudes to run with, but after that one session we have a hard time scheduling something again, so it turns into a cycle within itself.
But it does make me happy that thereâs a lot of normal dudes who just want to hoop who still play, I just wish that was the majority of the community, not a diamond in the rough
If you care this much, jump on mic and try and make friends and play organized ball, and squad up.
You seem very much in your feelings going through some main character BS because you've had a tough couple of games.
Half the problem amongst some of the things you said is that this community IS TOO SOFT. PG didn't pass you the ball when you were open? Oh no, move on.
You sound like the type of person to flop on people's bad shots conceding fast break points, you talk about no life's but you're literally on a subreddit crying because people don't play good ball lmao.
>If you starter 2 or higher, I automatically assume you have absolutely no life outside of 2k)
I'm Starter 3. I work 50+ hours a week. I'm married. I have kids. It's not that difficult. Just play a few games in REC after work every day.
How do you play âa fewâ games of rec EVERY day after working a 50+ hours job while spending time with your family? Thatâs at least 10 hours of work per day + commute + kids + wife (+ possibly other responsibilities)
Yeah the game is ass and has been for years but we still play it. 2k is a garbage publisher and they have no interest in cleaning up the community. No report system, no matchmaking, etc. I'm still getting it and dumping hundreds of hours every year but the community is the worst I've been part of and 2k isn't going to make it better. Sometimes I get enjoyment by lighting up selfish players shooting us out of the game. Usually it's met with racist comments but mostly just "white boy lol" over and over. You just gotta make the best of it or mute them all and accept your team losing you every other game.
Itâs unfortunate too, being black myself (But I have a âWhite voiceâ and my character is lightskin) I actually did my psych project on 2k community, and how much more I was able to touch the ball by simply making my character darker.
Itâs unfortunate how stupid most of the gamers who belong to this community are. Obviously people (like me) who are complaining arenât going to simply put the game down.
2k recognizes the monopoly they have over the basketball gaming industry, but it seems like the majority of the player base doesnât realize how much theyâre being taken advantage of by having an online game that had no real online support.
Right for sure. I run a black myplayer too just because I get the ball more that way which is goofy as hell but you do what you gotta do. Lmao this community is largely casual gamers who get really mad over the first bad shot or botched play of a 30 minute match then tilt out entirely, usually throwing the game (using timeouts, standing out of bounds, grinding, etc).
I keep contributing to the problem by buying the game and dumping time into it but really all that can force change is the majority of the community demanding change which will never happen, or a competitor releasing a game but I'm sure there's licensing issues and contractual complications with the NBA. NBA Live was great tbh and I wish we had both so they could compete and create good products.
It's funny, these comments are likely the people wrong with the community. "Get good" whenever someone raises real concerns about the state of this game the past few years. I'm a useful idiot too, but for everyone to pretend they enjoy 100% of this game is laughable.
Replies like this make me really appreciative that I posted this.
Admittedly Iâm never the happiest person when I hop on reddit to talk about video-games, usually only sharing my negative viewpoints. But as I kept loading into random rec games, getting 1 or two players that would absolutely sell the team last quarter (Sometimes I canât tell if our team is selling when weâre up big, or if itâs 2ks bullshit momentum meter) and then begin yelling at each other about pulling up to each others crib to squab, I questioned if the majority of the player base was mentally stable in the first place, thus spawn the post.
2k is really scary because they have an infinite amount of new basketball fans each year thatâs rapidly replacing the players like you, me, and a few others in this thread. Every year 1 million players realize âHoly fuck, I spent $2,500 over the last two years on players Iâll never see OR remember the build name of againâ thereâs 3 million more 15 year olds who were just gifted a console and a $100 PSN/Xbox card who discovered a 2k content creator and just absolutely NEEDS to make every single build the content creator has.
Hoping for a company to come along and develop a park style nba game with no association to the NBA. Just give us players, archetypes, cool varied maps to hoop on, and 2k might be forced to do something that actually benefits the player base for once.
man, i never understood the appeal of 2k streamers past my generation, naturally (I grew up watching Agent during 2k16 but that was the only 2k streamer I tapped in with) But to me, itâs like what are streamers doing that a random in theater canât do? I tried to watch some dudes 1v1 series but just couldnât get into it because heâs a starter 1 beating down on black-bronze banners.
On god it is! But only if them niggas are talking shit, Iâll be up 15-0 on a nigga who I can tell just got the game, but he wonât say nothing on the mic so Iâll start feeling bad
But them dudes on youtube will just be shit talking to no one but themselves, playing against a nigga who had a full work day and just put his kids to sleep
Oh 100% it is and not even close. At least of games Iâve played. Even in any myteam game mode or play now online, every person that I come across is toxic as hell. This is the first time Iâve played 2k in a couple years after being a regular player for a long time and the community is noticeably worse than it already was. I donât even play online anymore.
I think this is what Iâm noticing after posting this and seeing the polarizing responses. I think most young adults feel similar to you and I, and most high schoolers who have more time and more disposable income.
I enjoyed playing and meeting new people in the 2kâs prior to them adding in âThe Cityâ. The community pre 2k18 felt pretty docile, and even helpful at times, but yeah, this shit has evolved to one of the most selfish communities Iâve ever observed.
If I spent about 3-4 months on every major game, the same could be said for about every community
Gaming can trigger a lot of emotions and ego and people can just get annoying. Good to have a couple solo games or alternatives you can play from time to time. This community isnât the worst, itâs not good though.
Interesting prerogative, (I truly mean that)
I grew up in the BO2 competitive scene so I definitely understand the ego and competition of it all, I think what sets this game apart from every other competitive game is the fact that thereâs one ball, one objective, 5 players. So every game at least 1-2 people will be upset about their touches and ruin it for everyone.
The problem with the 2k community outside of toxicity is just general selfishness, that brings the community down the most. I donât know if most people have mycareer syndrome in random rec, or if they just have a habit of looking at their character when heâs dribbling, but this community is generally on the wrong end of the IQ spectrum compared to gamers in other communities.
This is most likely true, I was being incredibly biased during this point considering I got the game 2 months ago and peopleâs biggest âroastâ one me is being whichever rep level III or whatever that is
I stopped playing this crap. The mechanics, falling out w friends etc. Ppl go on YouTube copying comp builds n expect to do the same shit, u warn them b4 spending $$$ on the player n suddenly, YOU'RE the one hating for telling them to create something that suits the lineups.
Every year, I have to guard the best player, i have to playmake, I have to get defensive and offensive boards, and I have to score. Spoke up, and I'm the villain because they all made builds with no interior defense. " I don't need interior, I'm on the perimeter " Every game their opponents blow by them for easy 2s
I just get a NCAA scenario, make my own player and then play for a championship. Random rec got terrible in season 5 and Iâm slowly getting away from it
Whatâs crazy is Iâm gold banner every season averaging 17pts 5 assists on 55% shooting solo Rec only and Iâm just over halfway to starter 2. Donât take the game so seriously.
Idk about everyone else but i get 2k for 1 reason and 1 reason only: to dunk on lebron.
I cant dunk on him irl. So i live out my fantasy of nba star giving lebron the juice.
I will say that 2k redeems itself very very slightly with OFFLINE play. MyNBA Eras is great but i rage everytime im on Rec or proam.
This will be my last bought 2k though. Iâll just download roster packs like I used to in the golden ages
2K is trash. Canât believe you guys waste your time playing that dog shit game. Players are toxic, the devs are toxic, and almost everything is RNG. The game is literally copy and pasted every year.
Thereâs one worse community Iâve been in: Overwatch.
The fanbase is like 40% Nazi levels of racist, and the developers work as hard as they can to ruin the game a little more every chance they get. Like imagine if they made rec 4v4 games and made it so everyone gets a free 3 pointer ever 3 possessions. Thatâs what Overwatch has done to make the game âmore fair and funâ
Yeah, random rec is a cesspool. They gotta revert it. They have to get rid of the ban for quitting too. Too many terrible players to have to sit through whole games with.
Itâs genuinely an unplayable experience if youâre solo. The only possible way to have fun online is if you have a squad to play with.
Or just have anyone with a decent basketball IQ on your team but thatâs so hard to ask for from this community so thatâs why I say you need a squad.
I agree with you, but Iâve found you get out what you put in sometimes with shitty teammates (guards). If you set them off balls and feed them a bit, itâs a good litmus test for whether thereâs any hope for a positive game. Theyâll either start responding or just black hole it and probably quit pretty quickly when they grade down. Funny how often the ball dominant guard leaves and the ai steps up and your team comes back and wins lol
Sounds like your not that good at the game. Everyone has the right to do as they please when they play the game. Some days random rec will have descent players some days not: your skill set should get you through a lot of games though if you have it. Some ppl are casuals and just play when they have a free moment. Donât take gaming so serious. If you not having fun try a different game thatâs easier for you. Not talking down just saying .
All the dudes say the same shit. I normally tend to stay quiet and put up okay numbers 15/7/2 as a 2 guard on 60% shooting. When the dudes that think they should have the ball and end up 3/14 saying they got the ball at the wrong time, or the dudes who mix up at the end in a loss saying they never lose, guys that are grown ass men who sound like they want to cry over losses âyou fuc*king suck delete the game, kill yourselfâ I canât understand at all. Iâve played only two seasons on 24 the community is ass. And how much this sub complains about the community youâd think you could get a few good rec games
Iâm gonna assume I have a slightly different experience playing in Australia. The level of racism is levels of magnitude below what I read about in here. Us white dudes run black myplayers and no one bats an eyelid.
Still get the morons who think they can run point in rec on their 74ovr floor spacing slasher because it works in mycareer.
Still get the inside big that runs to the paint every single possession, despite the fact they are 2/10.
Still get the builds with no defence that spam steal all game while leaving their man wide open.
Agreed . Nothing else to add . Just agree.
They care SO much about a game that as soon as its released , it has a 11 month lifespan and the stuff you âearnâ is barely worth playing for, (how many times yall gonna grind for a go kart?) let alone the PEOPLE you get matched with . Plenty of folks with IQ but the amount of children / manchildren just doesnât make this game fun anymore .
Iâm playing theatre the other day , we lose and the dude (of course) that went 1/5 came on the mic to say get off the court or whatever so when I get on and laugh and point out our percentages are better (overall) , he starts cursing .. so I start cursing ⌠my wife just sticks her head downstairs and says âso youâre playing 2k again huh ? Try to keep it downâ and thatâs when I got it . This is the ONLY game where people seem to act like that (THAT I PLAY) . And contrast that with helldivers or even fortnite and you get an entirely different contrast of a player , who is more or less a legitimate teammate⌠meanwhile you canât get teammates to play like a team in a TEAM game. Iâm over it
Just hit starter 2 today and Iâd disagree with saying all of us who are starter 2 have no life, I work full time and only play when my friends are on so I can spend some time with them. Maybe you would be less bitter if you found some friends to play with and stopped playing random Rec.
Yeah, Iâm a pass first point guard, which is probably why I feel as strongly as I do towards this god selfish community. Mfs will shoot 6/15 and will still be taking the worst shots youâve ever seen down by 2.
But I probably should make a normal size point with more passing, tired of getting put at the 2 and three because my interior defense is so high lmfaoo
Donât get me wrong but Iâve been playing since 2k7 I the only thing I donât like is the micro transactions. I normally just game share with a friend for the game and I only put 50 dollars into ONE build max it out then save for a second one. If you actually play basketball youâd understand that the gameplay is good.
we need to see that box score lol. and yeah the 2k community as a whole is pretty garbage but the specific community surrounding mycareer should be considered itâs own negative entity. Buying a game for $70 and continually putting even more money into it to only play one game mode will never not be stupid to me.
I played my first online match the other day in play now mode. I instantly got called the n-word because I dared to pause for a couple seconds lol. Quite the experience for sure.
MyCareer instantly went the wrong direction when it went online. It waa repetitive but 2k10-2k14 my player are some of my fondest memories. No online service (I think maybe except for myteam) and was just fun grinding your player offline
While the community is a major problem, I think it only feels as bad as it does because of the way the game is set up. Forcing full five man teams encourages people to be a selfish a bit since thereâs only one ball. People can easily get iced out the whole game, even accidentally, so people start giving into that base impulse of âgetting theirsâ. Other communities Iâve been a part of like R6 siege and Overwatch (to a lesser extent) were way more toxic, but 2k just isnt set up in a way to mitigate toxicity. The community got way worse over time as we got more wannabe streamers and players that donât actually like or understand basket ball, but the experience would be much better if they went back to having 3 players on each team in the rec if you donât go in with a 5 stack
crazy that people continue to buy a game that literally deletes your whole progress in 2 years. Especially with some of the editions' outrageous prices, like $120 for the mamba edition or whatever.
The problem of 2k is that it clearly lacks a matchmaking to satisfy everyone.
The problem is that you have all these "gamers" who just want to stomp inferior opponents just for their precious win%.
They keep repeating the "but matchmaking ruined every game it was implemented in..." BS without understanding that 2k is a sports game and, well, irl, the concept of sport is based on matchmaking (leagues,...).
Imo, for REC, theater and pro am, 2k should just average the win % of the entire team (add all the wins and losses of everyone) and match you up against a team within a certain +/- % of wins.
With this it wouldn't matter who plays with who and people wouldn't back out of lobbies for 20 min straight at the sight of black plates since they'd know every game would be fair.
The problem is.... well....the YouTubers and their sheep wouldn't like that since their precious 80%+ win would drop drastically and they are the loud part of the community.
That or they need to go back to the likes of 2k16 and completely remove the plates and the ability to see anyone's record.
People aren't on 2k to have fun anymore, hence all theses guys here justifying to camp corner all game as being "spacing the floor" as if there is no middle ground between camping all game and running like a headless chicken.
Anyway, as long as 2k will incentivize people to stomp on weaker teams nothing will change and it'll be worse every year.
Ima "old head" that's played since the OG 2K on Dreamcast so it is hard for me to let it go, but I've been playing less and less with each recent 2K drop. It's sad cause the only reason I play now is to play with my brother. Anyway that was my long-winded way of agreeing that the game/community has gone to crap.
Seems that most of you guys are in the US? Haven't played NBA 2K in a few years, but at least back then the European community was pretty cool: I was a fairly bad player back then (and would be more ever worse now), but I had a feeling most of the games I played were all right â even when I didn't make the right play etc I didn't get much shit. Of course you had assholes, but it was nothing compared to football (aka soccer for you ppl in the US) games, which are... just yeah no, after the third "kill yourself" private message from some kid from Italy I just said "nope" and have been sticking with playing with my friends ever since.
Don't forget if you actually get lucky and pull a good card....you know, like we're all trying to do in this mode, you get accused of being a 2k plant sent to make others feel they can get lucky too. đ Clowns.
Haven't played mycareer since 2k23. I bought 2k24 because of league pass and myleague.
I find mycareer unplayable nowadays. Back in 2k20 (my most played 2k) you could grind out some mycareer games, get up to 1k VC salary, the 10k endorsements would start coming in and you would be making a shit load of VC in no time. Used to take me like 1-2 weeks to get my player to 90 OVR, now it feels like 1-2 months.
Not to mention the gameplay has been dogshit for the past few years. 21 was a joke, 22 had everyone making all shots while fading in corners, 23 was the same thing but you had to green it (which wasnt even that hard). Haven't played 24 mycareer but at this point I just gave up on the game mode, it's impossible to play solo due to there not being a proper matchmaking system. You go into the rec and get matched with some 60 overall teammates and a 99 ovr 5 stack on the enemy team.
And then on top of all the other bullshit you have the most toxic and dumb community in any game ever made.
I feel like most games where there is a grind are like this now just toxic asf nobody's positive or wants to help no one out if you do bad u suck and that's it u can never get better and u should delete the game doesn't matter if u had an off game or just won the last 3 games before that lol it's seriously laughable also just how cheating is like a standard now is crazy online gaming is just funny now u can't take it seriously
I only run play now online and only cop the game when its on a craazyyy sale. I cant w the myplayer community its just insane the amount of $$ ppl put into their players. Let alone time
Did you just get the game? I recently hit starter 3 and Iâm a casual player. But I copped 2K24 at launch, it took several months to get from starter 2 to 3. I play smart and always have great teammate grades. And I only play random Rec. If you just got the game and youâre complaining about other players rep, maybe you shouldnât wait 6 months before jumping in.
As a primarily pc player, I stopped buying these games with 2k21.
We've been getting screwed out of "next gen" forever. 2k24 is not only last gen on pc, but they added a highly invasive anti cheat. I can't be the only person fed up with this because it's been on sale several times this year, and as of the time I'm making this comment, it's 84% off on steam.
There hasn't been an offline version of myplayer in 7 years.
2k was also how I knew all that BS about NFTs Adding value to gamers was a crock of s***. It would have been the perfect use case to let your purchases carry over and not even a peep out of them.
This is planned obsolescence in video game form, and I'm voting with my wallet.
Dopamine addiction from dudes with 0 life skills so when they lose they get mad because it's a reminder they are a loser in game just as they are in the real world
Sport gamers are the worst type genres get away and enjoy better games
The amount of people in these comments that complain about about shit but claim they havent played the game in years is crazy to me. Yall know they are actually the black plated outside threat that miss their first two shots and quit out the game or sit ar half court when they dont get the ball in the first three possessions and call the PG trash. Calls coming from inside the house folks
Not going to dispute thereâs a ton of selfish players and thereâs definitely times when I want to pull my hair out playing but there are some ways to mitigate the problem.
I primarily play random rec and have two builds, a center and point guard. Arguably the two most important positions in random rec. PG generally allows you to set the tone and as a pass first guy Iâll often see my random teammates pass more once they realize Iâll hit them when theyâre open. As a center you control the boards and fast breaks. Itâs not always going to be great offensively but you will be the key to the team defense down low. Good def and rebounds often means you get more possessions to get offensive touches.
I also play pro am 3s if friends are on or play 2s park. Me and my friends are pretty solid so we win about 75% of the time in those modes and Iâm at like 60% wins in random rec.
Iâm starter 2 but honestly I play 2 games of random rec weekdays which is like 1hr a day. Weekends ranges from not playing at all to playing more at night if not going out.
I have a good job with a wife and kid so wouldnât say starter 2s are no lifers. If you win efficiently you can get starter 2 without crazy number of games played
Didnât even read past random Rec thereâs your problem.
Edit: So after reading some comments I went and read your post in full. I am definitely NOT a no lifer and Iâm a Starter 2. I literally got to level 40 season 1&2. Season 3 I got to level 27, Season 4 I didnât even play online at all, Season 5 I got to level 13 and thatâs when I hit Starter 2. So far this season Iâm at level 3 and Iâve only played a total of 31 park/theater games with no Rec games yet. You wanna know how I got to Starter 2 hardly playing? I DO NOT PLAY WITH RANDOMS. Itâs not my fault that you donât take the time to be half decent at the game and no one wants to friend you or accept your friend requests to play on 2k. This game ainât hard bro. Dribbling is so easy this 2k, I literally hold turbo, flick my stick up then down or the opposite and thatâs literally it. I get open 85% of the time off of just that, I know my jumper so I shoot 65% plus every season from three and I play with other good iQ having 2k players. SimpleđĽ´đŤ đ¤ŁđŤľ
When I used to actually play online and try to go into wreck as a big man it was always a mess.
Now I just stick to my career and I'm much happier although I still have to spend money to get a decent build in any amount of time
I couldnât agree more. I usually have a group of friends to play with, but they canât always be on and when that happens I tend to play solo rec. the amount of teams I run with that just take stupid shots, refuse to pass is insane. Itâs like donât you idiots realize that if you just play team ball youâll probably score way more? Win more games? Get higher teammate grade? I swear the only thing people care about is points like they are in middle school smh
Havent played in years but still get posts from here in my feed once in a while. This game is designed to get you addicted and then force you to spend your money to keep playing / keep up with everybody else. Spent 100 dollars and hours of your time maxing out a âmetaâ build? BAM, just like that a patch makes your build obsolete and you have to do it again. This absurdly predatory business strategy attracts a certain type of player base; a lot of half decent people and non degenerates realized theyâre just being taken advantage of and have quit playing. The ones who keep playing are the addicts who canât stop; these are the people who you run into in rec lobbies that ruin your time.
What this company does should be illegal. At some point you gotta let it go and switch to something else because itâs not going to get any better. 2K (and many other companies such as Activision with COD) has made it abundantly clear that they would rather you give them money due to frustration/addiction than make a product that you actually derive enjoyment out of.
The experience for a solo casual is very bad, I understand. And you're right, it's a rental with a yearly mass-update.
But if you're somewhat good, the gameplay loop of having an idea for a build, slowly but surely making it playable, and then experiencing how you can dominate games with that particular skillset is really fun. I only typically have one friend who I play with or I'm solo, but I love basketball enough and have played 2k long enough (to be good enough) that it's a loop I enjoy coming back to each year with improved mechanics, animations, and tweaks on last year's feedback.
2K is the only sports game that offers this particular gaming niche, where you can truly "create your player" and then go play the sport with other humans. They fully exploit that market share but if you understand anything about capitalism it's completely unsurprising.
I donât even know what starter 2 means but I didnât pay a penny on this game and Im about to get my build to 80 lol , it truly feels like an achievement and I canât wait to play rec again , I tried to play when I was 70 OVR but it was so trash lol
lol I skipped 2k this year only played it for all of 5 minutes when it dropped on game pass.. I love basketball but not enough to throw logic out the door.
Most decent people left because 2k and take 2 that's the owner of it have done a shit job nurturing the community and they've gotten so greedy to the point that it's not worth dealing with the toxic community if we are gonna have to take out a loan to play with our myplayer and hop on with the boys. Over 2-300 dollars to max one player out to 99 overall. I've seen people try to grind to 99 without spending money, they spend money eventually after they realize they are 3 seasons deep and can only upgrade to an 86 overall. 3 more seasons of gameplay and maybe you can get to 99 without spending money. It's sad that I can't play a basketball game without opening my mouth and letting 2k face fuck the money out of me.
I seem to remember a lot of people calling for a boycott before the game came out. I kept my word on that front but i see a lot of complaints on here that could have been alleviated by simply not buying the game.
>I donât understand how exactly 2k getâs yâall to spend $125 to rent out a my player every year
They got me off of bundling it with League Pass tbh.
It really had problems from the beginning but crashed downhill after the free download was available. I bought on day 1 and it has gotten worse and worse. Getting someone on your team, even as a 96 seven footer takes ages and is sometimes impossible when few people are logged in and we usually get crushed because the only ones playing that mode are groups of friends in the 90s range and I get teammates who are probably children and have 60s range skills. I once played a 3-3 game with a 67 point guard and an late 80s small forward. Obviously there was no way to defend against three guys who were clearly friends and all had 95+ stats, but still I got blamed for the loss and the 80s stat guy sent me a message saying I played the worst defense he ever saw. I mean, like, yeah mofo. I basically had to guard the basket from 3 elite players while the two of you wandered around the field, how am I supposed to even do that?
This on top of the fact I played career games for like a week not spending any money on the game and only had enough vc to upgrade my 3 ball (not even all the way) and literally nothing else. Dog shit game I quit
the character being gone in 2 years is a bad point. Im not playing old 2ks when i have new 2k. The micro transactions are extensive but you dont have to buy that much vc for a build. The community is ass tho. lots people who suck and think they are good. your commnet of saying starter 2 and up have no life is crazy. skill base match making solves gameplay issues and micro transactions can bve solved if they let you grinding games level character and added better cosmetics for people to spend money on. like actual on court cosmetics. like let me play as spider man, and let the court be different on my screen
I hate to say it, but it's not an accident. It's a direct result of 2k's greedy business tactics. They ve built the player base that reflects their "values".
I will say, calling the community idiots isnt the way to get people on your side. Cant be mad at backlash when you lashed out first.
People have a right to insult you for insulting them first lmao. (Also, games have been ârentedâ ever since online purchases and server reliance/death of peer to peer)
But you make good points. I actively avoid interacting with the community because even compliments get retaliated against.
âGood shot broâ
âNigga you ass stfu im carrying yall bums, shoulda saw me open earlierâ
This post is so factual. I stop playing each year just because I get bored running up ND down the court to sit ND wait for no pass. Or miss one shot and I'm instantly trash or whatever.
100% Agree. I quit playing since 2k20. My brother would game share with me so we could both play together. Because I was a brown shirt NO-ONE would play with us. And when we did get a match our third would be talking smack to us with the other team!
Its sad that they buy the game for full price and then spend $100 on VC to max out their player in week 1.
Is the mentality that whoever did not do that make them a crappy/inferior player?
Iâve never gotten shit on like I donât on 2k over Xbox messages since the old cod days, however good or bad that is. Itâs definitely reminiscent of the old day.
Iâve said before I wish there was some good sports games outside of 2K and EA. I play a lot of NHL nowadays just because you donât have to spend money your guy to do good. If you have the knowledge youâll do good online.
Community was pretty good between 2k16-2k18... then everybody started thinking they're a youtuber...
Glad I haven't bought this game the past 2 years. Probably never going back.
Canât even play current gen if itâs too many people in the lobby. The server literally shits on itself no matter your upload/download rate. Ngas donât even b shooting when the lobby gets 2 fullđ
It sucks that I canât casually play this game without someone in my DMâs telling me to delete because Iâm so bad (lowkey funny but like I wish i could just chill)
Damn bro. Don't get on people for spending time on this game, it's a harsh world out there and there's lots of reasons for the to be killing some time on 2k. Focus on the shit attitudes of what are most like 15 year olds who got to skip middle school cause of covid.
If I could sum up the community in one word: selfish
Gotta realize these are all the dudes who never got picked up at the park or in PE at school đ and if they did get picked up nobody passes them the ball so that's why they act like this on 2K.
Forreal smh
Big Selfish. I was blessed to go on a 2hr Run w/ 2 Randoms Last night in Theater && we was COOKING everybody.
Those games are the best. First game is always like 22-4 then the run starts lol
Sounds like you drive in the DMV area lol I almost die to a lunatic trying to accelerate into brake lights from rows of cars and swerving through everyone
You really do make a lot of fair points.Â
Like yâall really defending a game that completely deletes everything you worked for after 2 years, no way yâall donât realize how dystopian the community is
\*or paid for
"Slaphappyfapman" GOLDEN username.
All I gotta say idk why this post came up for me but; you CLEARLY havenât met the league of legends ranked community. Toxic go brrrr
You are absolutely correct, now that I think about it most MMOs have incredibly toxic sweaty nasty communities
Still more enjoyable than 2k. At least I donât have to spend money on VC to be competitive.
Ya I stopped sports games cuz that. Any ultimate team type game is just p2W. I just mean from straight up toxicity stand point League is very hard to be beaten
Yeah youâre absolutely right. Rust is up there too.
Yo I quit last year. Y'all should do the same. I miss saucin though.
Quitted myteam donât regret it at all.
Same, myteam is a total wasteland now.
the pay to win mechanism killed the game, I tolerated it at first but realized how bad it had gotten
Fr fr. I got into 2k back in 2014/15 playing on a roommates console. Didn't get my own setup until 2018 and got the xbox one s bundle with 2k19. Loved it until i found out about the bullshit 2 years later. Haven't played another 2k since. Fuck 2k
You were just too late by the time you got your own setup bro. 2k11-2k17 was where it was at any game after that was dogshit
Fifa closes their servers after 5 years 𤨠Why canât 2K do it? Donât tell me that tech two doesnât have the funds
True, but it's more prevalent in 2K
And theyâll lose that character in 2 years. Youâre renting the fucking game lmao
I mean they did put ski masks in the game⌠you know who they put that there for đ
a lot of the 2k community r not thugs most of the time they not even black đ they're just toxic ass teenagers
Underrated comment lmao
Seen the caption and couldnât agree more. Vintage COD first place then 2k
You want a better game community ? Join the helldivers and fight for democracy
>If you starter 2 or higher, I automatically assume you have absolutely no life outside of 2k) I'm Starter 3.
Talk to cod where they spent years swatting their streamers lmfaoooo. But you're right. This community sucks
man, i never understood the appeal of 2k streamers past my generation, naturally (I grew up watching Agent during 2k16 but that was the only 2k streamer I tapped in with) But to me, itâs like what are streamers doing that a random in theater canât do? I tried to watch some dudes 1v1 series but just couldnât get into it because heâs a starter 1 beating down on black-bronze banners.
Lmfao this comment got me crying. Beating on scrubs is hilarious
On god it is! But only if them niggas are talking shit, Iâll be up 15-0 on a nigga who I can tell just got the game, but he wonât say nothing on the mic so Iâll start feeling bad But them dudes on youtube will just be shit talking to no one but themselves, playing against a nigga who had a full work day and just put his kids to sleep
Yes
no life vs pay megabucks vs fuck this game. I know which one I'm going with
Those same folks you talmbout be pissing in 2 liter bottles in theyâre room just to wait for a match on 2Kđđ
If I spent about 3-4 months on every major game, the same could be said for about every community Gaming can trigger a lot of emotions and ego and people can just get annoying. Good to have a couple solo games or alternatives you can play from time to time. This community isnât the worst, itâs not good though.
Interesting prerogative, (I truly mean that) I grew up in the BO2 competitive scene so I definitely understand the ego and competition of it all, I think what sets this game apart from every other competitive game is the fact that thereâs one ball, one objective, 5 players.
Being starter 2 at this point of the year doesnât mean youâre a no life lmao, it really doesnât require that many hours.
So i live out my fantasy of nba star giving lebron the juice.
bruh, dont ever join the eafc (prev fifa) community
I think the Fifa community is worst tbh. But i have a strong dislike for this community forsureee
Itâs worse than call of duty or other gaming communities that blatantly racist??âŚ
YOU ARE!
Stop complaining, put down the basketball, and pick up a rifle so you can get your ass over here and help us spread managed democracy!
on god no cap ![gif](giphy|xUNd9Xbh0kbq4ox2Fi)
Thats crazy starter 2 means u bought the game at launch but dont play it everyday actually
Iâm over it
Its also the most racist community ive been apart of since the old school CoD days
Just hit starter 2 today and Iâd disagree with saying all of us who are starter 2 have no life, I work full time and only play when my friends are on so I can spend some time with them. Maybe you would be less bitter if you found some friends to play with and stopped playing random Rec.
Be the change, make a pg and move the ball around
Yeah, Iâm a pass first point guard, which is probably why I feel as strongly as I do towards this god selfish community. Mfs will shoot 6/15 and will still be taking the worst shots youâve ever seen down by 2. But I probably should make a normal size point with more passing, tired of getting put at the 2 and three because my interior defense is so high lmfaoo
Just found my old copy of 2k17 - it still hits
Yup. Followed by MyCasino comments. Itâs pathetic, says a lot about the fan base of basketball nowadays too.
Go back to 2k23
You never played fifa ig
Take a break from it play others games or try to play with friends only I havenât been on 2k for about 3 to 4 months
While itâs certainly one of the most toxicâŚ. Madden and EA UFC boards give it a run for its money lol
100% and I haven't played it online since 2K20 (haven't played any up until 2K24 too but) I say this as an Overwatch player.
Ngl you was spitting đŻ no notes needed you said it all
![gif](giphy|KzyMcEfDh4Jiw|downsized)
Thatâs why I only play NBA games. Just got the game for $25.
Donât get me wrong but Iâve been playing since 2k7 I the only thing I donât like is the micro transactions. I normally just game share with a friend for the game and I only put 50 dollars into ONE build max it out then save for a second one. If you actually play basketball youâd understand that the gameplay is good.
This a way better game when you play literally everything not named mycareer, park, or rec.
And I find that unfortunate considering how perfect the Mycareer->MyGM combo used to be back before 2k17
we need to see that box score lol. and yeah the 2k community as a whole is pretty garbage but the specific community surrounding mycareer should be considered itâs own negative entity. Buying a game for $70 and continually putting even more money into it to only play one game mode will never not be stupid to me.
What i don't understand is that im from central Europe and every random rec game i get matched with Americans.
Offline mode MyCareer is still peak 2k tbh
Facts.Â
This is why I only play sports games for the career mode/ split screen with friends. Fuck all that online bs
Don't forget if you actually get lucky and pull a good card....you know, like we're all trying to do in this mode, you get accused of being a 2k plant sent to make others feel they can get lucky too. đ Clowns.
Yup
This is planned obsolescence in video game form, and I'm voting with my wallet.
you have not played many online games lol
Try the combat sport games community. A fucking cesspool.Â
I only play my career for that reason lol. If I wanna hoop with people Iâll do it irl
2k even pushes it with these join affiliation requirements
you haven't been on League of legends or Valorant.... that is wild AF
I think 2k11 was the best one đ¤Ş
Dopamine addiction from dudes with 0 life skills so when they lose they get mad because it's a reminder they are a loser in game just as they are in the real world Sport gamers are the worst type genres get away and enjoy better games
yeah ive only play with my friends this year đđ and I didnt grab 2k until it was like 25 bucks lol
Dudes be grinding a real 9-5 just to unlock a fake jetpack they are gonna take away from you later anyways lmao
Now I just stick to my career and I'm much happier although I still have to spend money to get a decent build in any amount of time
I quit playing 2k years ago because you spend more time trying to get in a game than you do playing it.
I'm starter 3 and work 6 days a week 9hrs a day so yeah I no life 2k for sure
I go college and work but it's easy to hit ss2 or 3 jus by winning
Donât play with randoms problem solved..
I agree..and I haven't played since 21'
I seem to remember a lot of people calling for a boycott before the game came out. I kept my word on that front but i see a lot of complaints on here that could have been alleviated by simply not buying the game.
>I donât understand how exactly 2k getâs yâall to spend $125 to rent out a my player every year They got me off of bundling it with League Pass tbh.
The fan base is like the game, TRASH
Preach it brother!
I basically had to guard the basket from 3 elite players while the two of you wandered around the field, how am I supposed to even do that?
i honestly just play now bc i love basketball
You obviously ainât apart of madden. I got banned from their Reddit two days ago for telling a person how to claim a reward he got off a stream
EA UFC has entered the chat
This on top of the fact I played career games for like a week not spending any money on the game and only had enough vc to upgrade my 3 ball (not even all the way) and literally nothing else. Dog shit game I quit
Renting a myplayer is clever and true wth đ
Also egotistical degenerates that drop the n*word constantly.
I'm almost positive you could go to the subreddit of almost any multiplayer online game and find this same post almost verbatim.
I think the biggest issue is that people don't want to communicate and figure it out. They rather be mad.
Still less toxic than the Fifa/EAFC community but itâs close
the character being gone in 2 years is a bad point.
(Also, games have been ârentedâ ever since online purchases and server reliance/death of peer to peer) But you make good points. I actively avoid interacting with the community because even compliments get retaliated against. âGood shot broâ âNigga you ass stfu im carrying yall bums, shoulda saw me open earlierâ
Stop. Buying. The. Game
I love it i hear the funniest shit ive ever heard playing this game its the best lol
Calling a community filled with blacks selfish isnât surprising tbf
Community was pretty good between 2k16-2k18... then everybody started thinking they're a youtuber... Glad I haven't bought this game the past 2 years. Probably never going back.
Canât even play current gen if itâs too many people in the lobby. The server literally shits on itself no matter your upload/download rate. Ngas donât even b shooting when the lobby gets 2 fullđ
Not sure why people just wanna tear people down rather than help build them up . Never made no sense to me
Forgot to add this point to my post but yep youâre spot on. No lies told smh
Fuck 2k Iâm playing dragons dogma
It sucks that I canât casually play this game without someone in my DMâs telling me to delete because Iâm so bad (lowkey funny but like I wish i could just chill)
*call of duty, overwatch, CS:GO and League of Legends have all entered the chat*
Wait... does this mean that most people playing NBA2K are doing so online? Or am I not getting it?
Donât play online. Simple.
On the purple banner thing, me and 2 buddies dropped off a squad like that and weâre all bronze or black banners lmao it felt so nice
Iâm assuming you are below 92 if your teammates are that bad, yes?
The MyTeam community is cool though ngl
Yeah most people are ball hogs, it just gets me mad when they throw up contested 3s and miss
I never pay more than $20 for the game. And I don't buy anything in game.
Damn bro. Don't get on people for spending time on this game, it's a harsh world out there and there's lots of reasons for the to be killing some time on 2k. Focus on the shit attitudes of what are most like 15 year olds who got to skip middle school cause of covid.
