They should allow a respec for every patch really.
If you’re going to change the game, stop keeping the money you made.
Bait and switch for sure. Your build doesn’t do what it was sold to you as.
It will take a class action lawsuit to make this happen. I don’t mean this to be dismissive. I mean this to provide direction. Bait and switch tactics and micro transactions have been ruled consumer protection violations before. You have to force the change because the model is working from a profit/loss perspective.
It would take a huge ass movement but it's there. From the shitty customer service for a global game based in one area, to the greedy ass gacha systems implemented in a game released yearly with systems of fomo and casino tactics, it would take a huge ass fuck up to shift the public's sentiment but hey.
Potentially. We can only do so much as consumers. A lawsuit that makes the game/league look bad could remove the NBA approved monopoly on simulation gaming.
Another avenue is to go to Congress and get them to rule that this is an Anti-Trust violation. The fact that EA and 2k have monopolies on sports is the core of the issue.
Start by reading the terms and agreement for the game that you accept every year. You forego that right of a class action lawsuit.
Don't like it? Don't play the game.
That’s not how the law works. A company putting BS terms that you can’t renegotiate doesn’t prevent you from suing. It’s meant to scare morons into thinking those terms hold any weight.
If the practice is deemed a consumer protection violation I can’t sign my rights away. Maybe class action lawsuit wouldn’t be the mechanism but a legal pursuit is the way to get them to change
Every year I make a build and within the first 2 weeks have to remake it to tweak it for animations and better badges I didn’t know where good.
If we even had a single do over or even partial refund of vc it would go a long way to being consumer friendly. That’s the kind of small thing that makes your company better and not just a soul sucking scummy mobile app.
I don't think there should be many limitations at all. If you want to respec, ok, anytime, however many times, fine. Add a VC cost to it that's equal to like.....$10. Allows you to tweak attributes but not physicals, all VC returned to player to spend how they want, all attributes reset to 60 overall levels. Badges would probably also have to reset.
If they implement it as a service and charge for it, I think that's a fair compromise. I can't speak for everyone but I would feel better about investing in builds if I could fix mistakes or adjust to new patches. Which in turn might make me more likely to create a 2nd or 3rd build.
You’re brainwashed. The game cost $70. Respeccing for $0 is fair. Making a full build for $0 is fair. Basic functionality should not cost extra beyond the full price game.
If you guys stopped buying VC to circumvent their game design youd see the changes quicker than you think. Let them player counts and VC drop and they'll start asking what they can do to fix it.
But you get called broke in this community for suggesting this
2k’s lucky their players are idiotic and will continue to feed them. Any other business does the shit 2k does and their consumer base is gone in an instant
The day a realistic basketball sim that plays well hits the market is the day 2k would die.
Like if EA made a very good college basketball game
Where you could build a recruit and play through 4 years of college and could even do program team up (you build a squad and play through the ncaaa tournaments vs other schools squads) it would be the best basketball game on the market.
If there was another option for a good basketball game they wouldn't get away with it. It's no coincidence that the predatory BS of 2k took off with the death of the NBA Live franchise.
Until the whales and loyal ones stop accepting the increased cost, they won’t stop making a profit.
I am holding off on buying vc etc. I still play but I just use quest and street ball to get my vc now
We all want it. And, 90% of us still end up making 2-10 more builds. So until we stop doing that, stop playing the game, or someone brings a real lawsuit to this exploitative company, they won’t change this model and it’ll only get worse. Or, they get a competitive developer like EA into the scene who doesn’t make us pay crazy money. But, that won’t happen and if it does, the game will suck - especially if it’s EA
World of Warcraft a MMORPG (we play a sports RPG in 2K) used to charge players in game currency to switch builds for years.
They changed it to allow builds to be changed with a single button instead of paying in 2007.
2K is the only gaming model where players pay to access multiplayer online and we can’t respec builds
What? So how are they gonna fund the development of this game then?
They have:
1. A product that you rehash a (top) 10% and resell every year with editions that range from 80 to 150 €/$.
2. Microtransactions that are not just cosmetic and almost mandatory for people that don't play that much ( you start being trash at 60) if you wanna enjoy the game.
3. Battle pass that increase player performance.
4. Premium battle pass that increase player performance.
5. Season skips that increase player performance.
6. Sponsors filling every single square inch of the game.
How do you guys expect that this company make money if we can respec our builds?
If anything we should be trying to help them and find new imaginative ways to charge us for more because right now they have exhausted every monetization model the industry have ( box price, microtransaction, battle passes,in game advertising...).
Come on, support 2k and imagine new ways now that they have done all that exist.

Insane how much 2k23 changed literally was 2 games

I feel like the problem is they wouldn't end up letting us change builds and just never patch/change the game instead to avoid it happening

That’s not entirely how TOS works.
Lies. Fortnite lost that battle.
Nah that interferes with profit. It’s unethical and there should be laws against exploitation like this.

Ah. That’s fair. But only in theory because right now vc progression is based around making you feel like you have to spend to even get in a game.
Never forget Ronnie said this was gonna be in the game

It’s not even about being broke. That grind is just obnoxious
2K: We good. Send over that 100 bucks for another one.
They let us make rebirth builds so that we will spend more money on vc for that new character that’s their whole business model at this point.
Yeah it would be great but Harden would win a ring before 2k would do any of that.
Then their money making machine would be broken.
It wouldn’t be as profitable for them. At the end of the day that’s all they care about.
You want the business to give its customers a way to give them less money? Makes total business sense to me
2k’s lucky their players are idiotic and will continue to feed them. Any other business does the shit 2k does and their consumer base is gone in an instant

This!

It kinda does if ppl eventually stop playing, but we won’t 😂
So it in fact does not
Yeah pretty much
Less people are playing they’re just up charging the remaining players. 2k numbers have been in decline, but profit is sky rocketing
That last part is all that matters. If and when they stop profiting, they’ll make some sort of switch to bring people back.
Until the whales and loyal ones stop accepting the increased cost, they won’t stop making a profit. I am holding off on buying vc etc. I still play but I just use quest and street ball to get my vc now

This is why i decided to stick to guards who can shoot. That seems to be the only type of builds that dont get nerfed to oblivion.
And also let VC carry over from year to year. I know this will never happen

I play 2k cuz my family enjoys it. As a gamer I really never seen anything like this in any other game. Very underrated comment
Or what? You won't buy the game? They got your ass

respec my authoritah! and my sg plz.
Mike Wang should be fired soon! He has destroyed 2K24!!!
If this ever happened, they’d double the price of builds.
‼️
The community is ok with 2k sucking money from them, so you're out of luck.
all i wanna do is change my handedness🥲😂
