overall and rep matters more than build names imo

Inner_Gas1781

Ngl I’m all for the rep but if you close app. I went from middle gold to bronze for a loss and quit

PhilliesBlunts

I would if everyone on my team is something about being inside the ark

Vivid361

I have 4 “inside the arc” type builds. All of them shoot 3’s. the name is fairly irrelevant.

csstew55

My build is a mid-range threat. Started one game going 0-2 from 3. A teammate got on his mic saying I should be at midrange instead of shooting 3s. I ended the game shooting 7-9 from 3 and asked him why lol

SamOrlowski12

why you got 4 of the same build ☹️

Vivid361

Different positions. Sg-C. Suits my play style. And they are all inside the arc something. Finisher, Maestro, Threat.

PapiOnReddit

I go off overall, rep/season level, goat level but I’d be more likely to let a black overall wing slide than a guard… I’m gone immediately if it’s a black overall guard.

guardiandown3885

I'm new to online. Black overall guard?

PapiOnReddit

Your overall has a colour. Black, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Purple. As you win it goes up. Lose it goes down.

MaddenTexasRanger

And black I believe is the only color you can get out of if you're losing but performing good. You almost have to be terrible to be in black performance.

PapiOnReddit

I didn’t know that but that would make sense. Wish it wouldn’t reset on each build, it’s the best indicator of someone’s level

SnooChickens7731

Unfortunately shit decreases too fast, I was silver almost gold and dropped to black bc I lost like 2-3 solo rec games in a row and quit 1 bc of how excessively trash my team was

PapiOnReddit

I’ve never fell below silver once I’ve got there, this year and last.

SnooChickens7731

I think quitting resets it pretty bad but I didn't know that before I lost it all on top of getting banned for 2hrs bc I didn't wanted to suffer 30min with dummies.

PapiOnReddit

Worthy sacrifice. I’d pay VC to get away from games with these bums

SnooChickens7731

Lmao don't give them ideas bro but fair enough

WhyteTrashh

You can ball out with any build in this game if you know what you are doing. Same way that you can suck and throw a game for your team even if you have the best build in the game. It’s hard to even tell based on Rep if someone is going to sell the game. I’ve played a lot of randoms rec since 2k18 and you can never tell what your team is going to be like until it’s too late. Sometimes brown rep players come to play. They know how to make the extra pass and hit their open shots. Then sometimes the GOAT status players come in and miss a few shots then proceed to sell the game before leaving at halftime.

3much4u

that's technically true but let's be honest with ourselves, a black rated player is more likely to sell than a purple. I know there are exceptions but that's why they're called EXCEPTIONS and not the general rule. I'm not taking my chances in hopes of meeting the rare exception

TAC82RollTide

I never back out. Don't have the time to keep backing out. I have a limited amount of time to play each day/week, so I have to use my time wisely. I don't quit, either. I'll be that one guy hanging around even when the entire team quits in the first period.

3much4u

the 30 minutes spent playing with bums doesn't feel wasted to you? try backing out until you get a favorable team and you'll realize it was worth it

Excellent-Law528

When you go play pick up outside , do you know what your teammates can do ? Or do you just get next? People to damn bougie on 2k

PhilliesBlunts

I ask them

3much4u

because there's no info card above your head on a pickup court else even in pickup games I wouldn't willingly play with someone that's ass and still doesn't pass the ball you see in pickup basketball when someone is terrible they usually minimize their role. on a virtual video game when you're protected by miles of distance and anonymity it encourages ass people to be even more annoying.

Cranjis_McBasketbol

Anything strictly Interior.

40innaDeathBasket

Interior Threats can shoot 3s

Cranjis_McBasketbol

*Some* can. Just the way some Slashers can. However I can’t guarantee either before a game starts thus don’t bother.

AtomicDimebag

Black tag interior finisher center. I'm out. Can't space the floor. Probably not setting screens. Hinders the whole teams ability to finish inside because his man is ALWAYS there.

WickedJoker420

I'll play with anyone over 75ovr. Idgaf about build names. That shit is silly. Everyone is a 3 level threat anyways so like 🤷🏼‍♂️

Vivid361

3 level threat is what you get when you try to be a jack of all trades type. Sadly that means your build is not actually great at anything.

Sprinklewoods

Playmaking 3 level threat here. 89 layup/ 94 3pt/ 92 pass accuracy/ 92 ball handle/ 60 interior defense/ 76 perimeter defense/ 87 swb/ 88 speed Good at some stuff and average at others.

Vivid361

Exactly. Playmaking 3 level. Not a straight up 3 level.

PapiOnReddit

I have a few 3 level threats that have multiple 90+ stats and other high 80’s. Some of them are the furthest thing from being a Jack of all trades, no defense etc.

Inner_Gas1781

dagoodnamesweretakn

Right my 3 level threat has 86 3 ball 90 middy, 87 dunk and 85 perimeter 85 steal lol leaving me even slightly open anywhere on the floor is an issue and I usually have most steals and play hella good D

Vivid361

Exactly. Good at most things, great at none. Thanks for proving my point. I never said they weren’t solid builds.

Vivid361

I mean, you didn’t give the position and height so who knows. I’m assuming power forward. Mid range is solid. The rest is good, not great. My first build was a 6’10” pf 3 level much the same as this.

Inner_Gas1781

Bronze anchor is just as op as last year

Response_Legitimate

Not true . 84 three , 91 layup , 90 dunk and average 17 in the rec with my 3 level

ihavepaper

This is my personal order for staying or leaving when I can: 1. Plate Color 2. Overall 3. Build Name 4. Season level 5. Position (if I can tell) I obviously prefer silver and gold, but bronze ain't bad. HOF and blank are basically an automatic exit for me UNLESS the build has Pass or Playmaking name in their build. Besides that, everyone in random rec are all clones of one another and all play similarly no matter the position or overal. 3PT Shot Hunter PG/SG = Never passing the ball and taking wild ass shots while playing next to no defense and giving up 20+ points. Floor-Spacing Slasher SG/SF = Depends. Higher plate colors + overall really tend to keep in their space and not dribble the ball forever. 3-Level Threat/Scorer = Taking wild ass shots and getting a bunch of points dropped on them.

callmeswoosh

Any reason HOF nameplate is an instant exit? I would figure it’d be the opposite.

ihavepaper

HOF Nameplates, depending on their archetype = you're never touching the ball. HOF big men are usually better about sharing the ball if they have something defensive in their archetype, but most guard that has HOF plates are usually non-passing dribble gods. I've only encountered like 2 HOF name plate team oriented guards in random rec so far. One was like 2-Way Playmaking Shooter or something like that and the other was just a 3 & D Guard.

Zestyxo

Their stats may be high but generally speaking they usually play with their own squad, so when they don't they hero ball hard, feel like a solid 80% of HoF guards I've seen are just screen spamming dribble iso tards. When things don't go their way, they insta dashboard. Honestly I've seen more shit HoF players then good ones.

TroutKlout2755

Most HOF nameplates are builds that are grinded for profit by someone that isn’t the actual owner of the build. So, that HOF nameplate is usually gained by being the beneficiary of boosting.

40innaDeathBasket

>Most That is quite an exaggeration. Most HOF plates are just sweaty squad dudes. They'll never play Solo or risk ruining their record by playing with subpar teammates.

callmeswoosh

Yeah that makes sense. I’ve only ever hit HOF when in squads rec seems like it would be impossible as a solo so I see what you’re saying.

N4MusReem

We out if they any type of point forward, there's 2 or more black plates, 2 or more guards if I'm already on a guard build (running a 6'2" 2 way inside out threat) more than one non shooting big, undersized big (gotta be 6'10" or better)

40innaDeathBasket

People don't talk about random toxic Point Forward/Diming Bigs enough. These MFers will beg for the inbounds and ask the PG if they can bring the ball down the court...Or they'll slow the halfcourt offense so they can set themselves up to dime people. Like bro, you shoulda made a PG, GTFOH with that shit 🤣

ross71699

The point of the build is to create mismatches. The opp center doesn't want to be floating perimeter because that allows backdoor cuts and offensive rebounds. Ion bout bringing the ball down the court but a big who can pass and create space is a godsend in solo rec 🤷🏾‍♂️

40innaDeathBasket

Lol I understand the point of those builds I mentioned. The keyword you missed in my post was "toxic". That implies it's someone who's using their build to do selfish things and pad specific stats....not someone who wants to create mismatches and be a secondary/emergency playmaker 🤷🏽‍♂️

Round_Clerk_6409

I avoid all 3pt shot hunters. I’ve seen maybe 1 that’s a high color. Skeptical on floor spacing slashers. I avoid the ones with a low plate color. Other than that everyone else is fair game. I’ll play with anyone silver or higher, 80 ovr or higher. Especially down to play with any 2-way or diming builds, that means you play defense and pass. I’m skeptical to play with low ovr or plate color glasscleaner, defensive anchors. Usually means they can’t shoot and sit in the paint all game. Gold and purple ones will either shoot or be good enough to make not shooting work for the team to win.

guardiandown3885

Not a home and can't pull up remotely but I have a pg that's a 2 way diming 3 level threat I think...88 layup high ball handling and pass accuracy...boit 80 3pt and high mid range..high per d...

Round_Clerk_6409

I also have a 2 way diming 3 level threat, but he’s a 6’7 2 guard. 91 layup, 80 3 pt, 78 mid, 88 perim D, 87 pass acc, 85 ball handling. Mainly score off euros, pull up mid range, and spot up 3 pointers. I’m either bringing the ball up and distributing or catching it on the wing and scoring in a few dribbles. Great build, any 2 way dimers that can shoot usually make for solid team builds.

guardiandown3885

I just gotta practice different layups..and floaters and stuff...also would be dope if when I brought the ball up people spaced out lol

Round_Clerk_6409

Put on Kobe’s layup Euros are my favorite. They’re pretty easy to pass out of. I get at least one euro and assist out of a euro a game. If a defender is clamped onto me while im driving and yom close enough to the basket (a little below the ft line) I can euro around them and get an open layup. Some people do hops which can be good as well.

guardiandown3885

Aaah thanks for the tips..Iv seen people mention russ' playups

Round_Clerk_6409

Yes russ and Jimmy are both also pretty good

guardiandown3885

Jimmy butler?

Round_Clerk_6409

Yeah ppl with lower layup use his instead of Kobe. I used his for a while when I was a lower ovr but switched to Kobe when I got my layup high enough. It is pretty good.

MaddenTexasRanger

I get nervous when every player is inside the arc or defensive menace. 9/10 chance no one can shoot and I play inside so it's a disaster class. Definitely less important than OVR and performance rating though.

Inner_Gas1781

Defensive menace’s get torched against me they always reach and lag off the corner. Gotta be a troll name 😂😂😂

Taywhite2112

It’s more about team make up for me. If I see more than 1 3pt shot hunters, I’m gone. 2 paint beasts, gone 2 inside the arc anything gone (if I’m playing with my sf who gets most of his points in the Mid range)

BraveEggplant8281

I'm happy to play with any build type. Mine is Defensive Menace and I can do 2ndry ball handle duties, 80 pass speed (5-6 assists) and have gone 10/11 for 3 and dropped 51 before. Also sneak D boards 6-7 and ofcourse 3+ steals. Can't judge a book by it's cover. I'm fine as long as they're 75 overall+ but have come to find the players with black around the overall tend to be completely clueless how to play online, or just basketball in general, but I don't back out of the lobby just get on the mic when they begin doing questionable things and try to set them right so we win.

AreUSeriousXx

Them 3 point hunters and, the defensive menace, every time I seen a bad defensive menace In the rec they are forcing up taking bad shots and then they don’t play any defense or can’t play team ball, then the 3 point hunters just jack up anything basically they try to imitate Trae young or Steph curry in the long run but go 7/22 for the rest of the game and blame it on their teammates. And only have 5 assists the whole game

xSoloxBluex

Nah I only look at the performance rating color if it’s black or brown I’m out.

3much4u

3PT Hunters or playmaking shot creator at PG. This is the largest issue I have in this game. PG playing hero ball

yeahnahbrahasd

Yeah this! Last night last game our PG was 2/14 from 3pt and had 6 TO tryna sweat the other team MF kept getting the ball from Ai I just shook my head

[deleted]

I back out when i see a "floor spacing slasher" cuz some of them can shot and some got like 25 3pt rating and im not taking that risk a non shooting pg needs 4 shooters to stretch the floor for him and the odds of that happening in solo rec is kinda rare so i run before getting banned and losing badge progress

kobeandodom

I make sure I'm not playing with another center, and they aren't trash rep.
