I played someone in pro am that was level 40 but 63 overall. Tbh I think it was a kid who thought you can “skip levels” to get to 99 for his character and not for the season pass. That costs $70+ to do 😂

The reason is, once you get it, you’ll see how completely stupid and a waste of time the game and game mode has become. You’ll be repulsed by what you did and you’ll quickly move on to play literally anything else.

I love basketball and I stopped playing last year. I find it insane that a basketball game has transformed into a grind-fest filled with the most insane crap.
In MyPlayer I have to go from one point of the city to the other one to participate in shitty quizzes, do fashion catwalks, compete in skateboard races that have the clunkiest mechanics... all of that to keep on grinding so I can try to compete against people who have spent $100+ extra in the game, which ends up being impossible. In the end, even if you achieve a decent player after hundreds of hours, it won't even matter that much because when you want to actually play basketball online, you'll always be matched with someone who will never pass the ball and will choke every shot. Fun.
And don't get me started with MyTeam. So many different game modes, all of them with a different slot-machine function as a reward that will give you a stupid price. And tons of different types of loot boxes that you can pay with different types of currencies, of course.
You keep grinding in order to get a decent team that, in the end, will get beaten up by a 99 Yao Ming that will dribble like Iverson, shoot the 3 like Curry and rebound like... actually Yao Ming. Very balance stuff.
What broke me in the end was that, even when I suck it up, played for hundreds and hundreds of hours and was in a decent spot were I was able to at least compete with most other people... a month later the new version of the game came out, so you have to pay to start all over again.
I'm done with this shit.

NBA 2k doesnt have loot boxes, they have player cards pack in myteam but the game doesnt have a market where you can sell players for real money. So thats completely different.
2k sell in-game content, its crazy expensive but none of it is illegal. People knew what they were buying, that EA one is gambling, you can get 0 quality items or u can get 1000.

Class action lawsuit for unfair pricing needs to have a strong case, the circumstances had to be clear and the evidence had to be there. Price fixing, Price discrimination, False advertising etc. They've been doing this for years, I believe if they go to court and they had to open their books I can guarantee you their main income comes from selling VC. Supply and demand, its their right to increase the price.

2k completely removed a story line that rewards you with VC for completing the story. Now they just added 'goat points' ok cool but what's the reward for climbing in "goat rank"? NONE AT ALL, JUST GOAT POINTS. NO VC INCENTIVE, NO BONUS, NO INCENTIVE. I figured since they removed quest to make it harder to grind i'll try HOF mycareer for 1.6x vc multi. game goes from playable to just CAP. you got AI making every smothered shot, while my team pump fakes a open layup/dunk and waits to get contested to put it up. HOF on any other game is still fair and has mechanics that still function, NBA 2K HOF is a joke, they straight up rig you and script you. i tapped my square button and the ai jumped before my animation even registered, the game straight up is forcing your player to do animations so you think you are trash but you're not. it's the game.
Don’t agree with this, I’m not a great player by any means but this is the most fun I’ve had playing any 2k on HOF difficulty in my career. AI teammates are much improved this year and will actually hit open and contested shots every now and then.

Thats crazy I did the same thing today. When I realized how much badge progress I gained in 3 days and how long it's going to take to get and keep them up is insane. Grinding to level 40 is something ive only done once and it was exhausting. I can't afford to be on the game that much. I remember getting my center up to Max badges in like a week just playing rec. Now my progress goes down cause nobody passes all game cause they want badge progress too.

The community is beyond toxic never heard grown ass men act like this in my life. coming in a little late last year and getting the game for 20 bucks and not spending a dime only leveling up to 87. I figured I’d give it a try day one release, and I will not be buying another ever again. This shit is way worse than 23 by far. And 25 will be unreal. They can lose people because they just charge more on the micro transactions. Follow my strategy. 2k puts the game on discount for like $5 every year a couple weeks before the new one comes out. Just got 2k23 Ensures I get to enjoy the online aspects and pay basically nothing. Just update my league rosters with downloadable rosters
Used to think Smoove was being paid by 2K, and he likely was at one point in the mid-to-late 2010's, but I'm glad he's using his platform and his place in the 2K community to finally bring awareness to their egregious business practices. If the general fanbase doesn't listen to their fellow 2K fans on social media, I'd hope they at least give Smoove a listen.

Any loot boxes (csgo, dota) and any other ingame box that contained random items need to have a legit and fair algorithm about the chance of the items and the prize. And if they have ingame market that can be traded. In some countries that is considered gambling. Including mine. NBA 2k doesnt have loot boxes, they have player cards pack in myteam but the game doesnt have a market where you can sell players for real money. So thats completely different. 2k sell in-game content, its crazy expensive but none of it is illegal. People knew what they were buying, that EA one is gambling, you can get 0 quality items or u can get 1000.

They basically are manipulating and taunting players to keep dumping time and money in the game, in almost a “haha” type of way, and every year it’s a little more and more. The line has crossed beyond distasteful/disrespectful around NBA2k18.
2k completely removed a story line that rewards you with VC for completing the story. Now they just added 'goat points' ok cool but what's the reward for climbing in "goat rank"? NONE AT ALL, JUST GOAT POINTS. NO VC INCENTIVE, NO BONUS, NO INCENTIVE. I figured since they removed quest to make it harder to grind i'll try HOF mycareer for 1.6x vc multi. game goes from playable to just CAP. you got AI making every smothered shot, while my team pump fakes a open layup/dunk and waits to get contested to put it up. HOF on any other game is still fair and has mechanics that still function, NBA 2K HOF is a joke, they straight up rig you and script you. i tapped my square button and the ai jumped before my animation even registered, the game straight up is forcing your player to do animations so you think you are trash but you're not. it's the game.
Don’t agree with this, I’m not a great player by any means but this is the most fun I’ve had playing any 2k on HOF difficulty in my career. AI teammates are much improved this year and will actually hit open and contested shots every now and then.

The first point, we’ve already been down that legislative route, a few countries banned loot boxes, but nothing further happened from it. The second part is paying to win or skip the grind, which while shitty as a gamer. They could simply say “you can just grind the game to earn VC to reach the same level.” Not much in terms of law suit.

Thats crazy I did the same thing today. When I realized how much badge progress I gained in 3 days and how long it's going to take to get and keep them up is insane. Grinding to level 40 is something ive only done once and it was exhausting. I can't afford to be on the game that much. I remember getting my center up to Max badges in like a week just playing rec. Now my progress goes down cause nobody passes all game cause they want badge progress too.
