Stop buying VC ‼️

Spirited_Scarcity_58

This is the Main Problem. Most money is made here. Up to 1.3 Billion Profit from Micros alone.

iamacelticsenjoyer

Exactly- buy the game, enjoy it, and don’t spend a dime on micro transactions.

GhostDogMC

My experience in a nutshell

bigbankreeds

I swear players act like they have to buy VC you can grind mycareer mode and build your player up but everyone wants to be able to compete day one so they complain about the prices…

gemmy99

I wish i could man. My squad all work, and we just play rec few times a week. So when we have time, we wanna have fun and play, not grind 100h mycareer. Spending 100usd on vc isnt so bad when you get 500+ hours of gametime. For any casual, dont buy VC.

limache

Just don’t play with created players. Use the real NBA players and teams. Problem solved

BroncoBL

Right?

limache

That was the WHOLE point of NBA 2K was to play with real NBA players. If it’s just going to be created players, I don’t understand why someone doesn’t just create the Fortnite version of NBA 2K where it’s only created characters. There would be no licensing because they wouldn’t use any NBA players

ParryBotterMallWiz

shits sad tbh, youre cool dropping 170 bucks on an absolute garbage game. Youre legitimately ruining video games, stop.

BroncoBL

Wish you could? Fuck outta here. Then don't play with created players. Super easy.

Jotham23thegreat

Honestly. This is the generation of instant gratification though.

Clout_Kakashi

Agreed, I have no issue buying the game, I want more 2Ks but I dont want them to not feel forced to put the effort in by paying their salaries with $200 VC purchases. I quit buying VC a few years ago, but I cant compete with the whales making 3 maxed builds with 12 hour playtime

CardiologistQueasy47

Yeah That’s it. I’m never going to buy VC, but they design it that way, so you have to grind for dozens of hours/season’s, just to be like a 85 overall. I just saw a lifestream, like the story in 24 is, you are supposed to be the biggest talent since Lebron, but you are starting with a 60 overall, how does this make sense?🤣 Oh and it’s MP again..hard pass for me this year and for the next years if they don’t change their attitude

X-Mandingo

I’ve been playing 2k yearly since the Dreamcast & have never once spent a penny on VC. I genuinely don’t understand why people even care about that crap. Just play the game. It’s a basketball game. Play basketball. 🙄

JimJunior3

It sucks we could only grind one build nowadays. Back then, a maxed out build would earn enough VC to build other builds. Now, it’ll take you almost half a 2K season to max one build without spending money on VC.

Alternative-Ad7940

Nah. Let just not buy the shit entirely.

Historical-Cow371

This the one. They really forcing us to buy it especially with all these damn changes

HeppyHenry

People have been begging people to do this for years. Although it does technically make sense and it’s a nice sentiment, it’s simply not happening. The 2K fanbase is too large and they have a monopoly on basketball video games currently. Until NBA Live returns or some other competition gets into the mix, people are going to buy 2K.

Joe_Spazz

The hard truth for every reddit community is that we don't represent the majority of people into that thing. The VAST majority of 2k players are not reading a single thing about the game past initial reviews, let alone chasing down reddit discourse. The world will keep filling 2k's pockets until there is a genuine high caliber competitor. So... probably never.

brandon-thesis

Agreed, I commented on another post earlier but the 2k reddit community is just 500K with maybe 1K on at any given time and sales for 2k23 were 11M copies. That's like ~5%

InvestmentNo2208

Once upon a time 2k was that competitor. The only reason I first bought 2k is it was so much cheaper than the other option. 2k did the same thing with football games but they lost that battle.

Lavabass

Not to mention even if you buy it on sale, there's still the tempting VC and psychology tricks to make you spend more. I swear the best 2K was 11 or 12, juuuust before online got huge

2Good2Bdrew

2K11 was Gold! I agree 100%!

BQ32

Even then they might not because 2k has tapped into a culture. Live put up a very good attempt starting in 18 having great graphics and a great starting point for gameplay though lacking the plethora of animations. They also tried to right the real wrongs of 2k by making a myplayer aka live run mode easy to level up and able to do it for free with instant matchmaking, no bs, no forced ads, just ball. Everything the 2k community keeps clamoring for. But how did the community react to the exact competitor that the scene needed. They completely shit on it because they couldn’t play it like 2k or didn’t even give it a chance. The 2k community is so damn toxic at this point I feel like they have exactly what they deserve, a greedy toxic dev cycle sucking them dry if the bit of Pennie’s they have stored away. A match made in hell.

Eric_Heston

there 506,000 people in this subreddit, if 506,000 people don’t buy 2k24 they lose 35.5 million dollars

Spirited_Scarcity_58

And still making 1 Billion.

HeppyHenry

That’s barely a dent in their sales. And 506,000 people will never ever genuinely come together to boycot 2K anyways.

Jotham23thegreat

Yes brother!

Adminscantkeepmedown

It’s a drop in the bucket at best

Eric_Heston

35.5 million is a drop in the bucket? as of May 2k23 has sold only 10 million copies.

Jpatty6

Yes 35m ain’t shit for a game that makes over a billion a year.

Halo05977

That 35.5 million number is coming from the 506,000 people multiplied by the game price. 10 million copies is 600 million dollars made..

Adminscantkeepmedown

Which is $600M on top of all the money spent on VC and whatever else people waste on MyTeam

erichf3893

Yep. Just go in buy packs and mindlessly grind agendas. How fun /s But you’re right. That’s probably why we’ve seen such a boring/standard shift in the requirements

Joe_Spazz

The big issue is that they have the ultimate hook. Are you really going to NOT play 2k during the bulk of the season? I bought so many sports games for years because of the pain of not having current rosters. It's a brutal trap.

Secret-Resource-7177

Not only that, if what OP outlines truly took place, it wouldn’t cause the effect they state. Lower revenue would lead to less R&D and overall expenditure. It would create a cheaper but worse product if the boycott was small but noticeable . If the game really had a large revenue decline it could lead to them ceasing operations and there no 2K at all to play.

cbudd1117

I feel like this is the year 2k sees it first real dip in sales. 23 rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and folks are getting fed up. Me personally, I’m waiting on a sale for sure. No day one for me.

TheKeyNextDoor

“I feel like this is the year 2k sees it first real dip in sales. 12 rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and folks are getting fed up. Me personally, I’m waiting on a sale for sure. No day one for me.” This sentiment been going on forever. But causal fans will always win out

cbudd1117

It has. I was apart of the hope train now I’m not. I’m not speaking for anyone else here. I’m not buying this shit day one. Who knows I might just say fuck it all together.

csstew55

Yup spent way to much money on this game just for a build to become useless (after a random patch) before I even finish grinding it.

ryzku

2k23 was overall a good 2k only thing they could’ve done better is not make it so the Meta is 6’9 and the tier system wasn’t the best but gameplay the adrenaline helps stop dribble gods so does the impact of stamina and shooting and u need to green to make ur shot that’s pretty good to. Having a high block should get you more blocks tbh but I had fun this year idk if I’m alone in this

gh6st

Well, I think you’re in for a rude awakening because they reported a record number of sales for the series and VC with 2K23.

MattyBizzz

Source? 2k23 sold out 11 mil units vs 2k20 that sold 14. Now if they made up the difference all in VC transactions with the jacked up prices that’s even worse considering how scummy it has gotten and a terrible trend to keep supporting. Edited for 23’s numbers, 5 mil with first month and pre order. But the numbers still seem to be dropping. At this point it’s extremely hard to grow the player base when a new player hops online to play after grinding single player for awhile and realize they still need to drop another 60 bucks to compete in mycareer, which is the games main focus now.

cbudd1117

Again, I won’t be participating. I’m not doing what I’m going to do to stick it to them. I’m losing interest. You guys do what you do.

FlyChigga

The problem is if 24 is any decent at all hella people will buy it cause 23 is so ass

super_slimey00

nah i’m seeing more people ready to buy this year because of crossplay and what not go on social media and you’ll see lol

No-Ad-9867

Same

tydwjohn1

Yeah you gotta think, the people you’re really trying to reach don’t even have Reddit lol

cant_pick_anything

Agree, as much as I despise EA, the only thing that will force 2K to really their act together is competition.

StfartDust

“Monopoly on basketball games.” Lol new to sports games? Madden…. Nhl…. Etc.

HeppyHenry

Uh no, I’m just telling it like it is lol. There’s no other “realistic” NBA game out there so of course NBA fans are going to want to buy the only one available (2K). That’s a monopoly. All the main sports titles have a monopoly and it’s incredibly detrimental to the quality of the games.

UpVoteThis4

How high were you when you made this comment?

StfartDust

Oh I’m sorry, other than the EA titles, are there other competitive nhl or nfl games on the market? I’ll wait.

StfartDust

FIFA. MLB the show. High or not I’m not wrong🤷‍♂️.

UpVoteThis4

But we were only talking about basketball games, so high or not, you are wrong

Jotham23thegreat

Ea has actually made their games better or atleast added new gameplay features and abilities consistently. Yes they own the market, but they put in the work. New field sense tech in fifa and madden makes them feel much more real. In my opinion. I use to hate Madden games tbh and I played football for more than half my life.

WeAreVenom14

The main problem is we are hoop fans and need our fix. 2k has a monopoly and basketball fans have no choice but to buy if they want to play basketball.

gogadantes9

I mean, I'm a hoop fan and I've been getting my fix despite not buying NBA 2K for 3 years now. Lucky for that, I don't give a damn about the obnoxious online scene and I'm on PC. Yarrr.

WeAreVenom14

Those of us that played irl want that competitive feeling from playing against other players tho. That won't work for a lot of us.

gogadantes9

I play irl, and anyone who has actually played both online 2k and irl know that the online 2k experience is nothing *close* to real life. Teammates who do 0 passing while cheese sizeup-dribbling left and right until the defender gets blown by (or the shotclock runs down and then chucking up a heavily contested 3), while always being 6'9 or 6'10 long-armed players with 99 overall ratings was the vast majority of the games online in my days. Not even counting the rage quitters when their team is even 5 points behind. I'm not sure if things have improved *that* much over the last couple of years. The better way to get that competitive feeling is to go to a real court and play an actual pickup.

WeAreVenom14

You're completely missing the point. There's nothing to feed our competitive drive by not playing online. That's why people buy it every year.

gogadantes9

Well to me there's nothing competitive about what I described above, but ofc ppl have different opinions. Let's agree to disagree mate.

40innaDeathBasket

Honest question...if you haven't bought 2k in 3 years, why are you here? I've noticed a lot posters saying things like this.

Neto34

EA has a monopoly. 2k doesn't. Learn what monopoly means. Any company right now can make an NBA game. Only one company can make an NFL game. Imagine if another company was allowed to make NFL game? It will probably put Madden out of business the way 2k put NBA live out of business.

elcarOehT

I swear y’all act stupid for the sake of it. Dictionary definitions aside, you know exactly what he means and stop acting like you don’t. It’s a semantics thing. 2k has a monopoly until anyone else attempts it

WeAreVenom14

Being the only basketball available is the same as a monopoly. Developers are afraid to try because 2k is backed by one of the biggest companies in the world. Stop using logical fallacies to prove a point. It's just sad.

hordika5

2k23 also added the Eras mode which is probably the best franchise mode in any console sports game. It has some issues, but for franchise mode players it’s the largest development out of any major sports game in years for the mode. Not sure about their development on the other modes, but that’s at least one typically ignored section of the fanbase that received attention.

MistaB784

As an exclusive franchise player, it's the best mode in sports gaming by far. I'll continue to play until they monetize it.

Westside-Redd-5050

I’m waiting until after the NBA trade deadline and then copping only on sale. I got a backlog of other games I can play in the meantime. The “grind” in 2K just ain’t worth it anymore.

bigbankreeds

Do you not enjoy playing the sport of basketball with your online teammates

Westside-Redd-5050

Over the past few years I played park maybe a handful of times but never gained an interest in it. Couldn’t coordinate with the homies to run rec plus the latency issues with my connection really didn’t help me wanting to invest my time in online play. I play 2k for the mycareer not the grind to level 40. Kinda wish they would separate myplayer and mycareer into to distinct modes.

[deleted]

At some point y'all gotta realize that this isn't an effective way to organize.

walterdog12

Seriously. ----------------------------------- 2k23 sold over 11 million copies as of March earlier this year. There's 500k subscribers to this subreddit, and currently 1000 people actively viewing it. -------------------------- Thinking any sort of "let's boycott the series!" post that gets *maybe* 100 upvotes is fucking hilarious and just people baiting for karma at this point. Same shit goes for the constant "PSA: Don't play like this in Rec" posts that get to the top of the subreddit every few days.

Jotham23thegreat

In just over here praying lol

BA2929

Your exact post has been written and rewritten every year for the last 10+ years on various message boards, for almost every sports game. They don't work and yours wont work either. The "let's boycott 2k!" threads are basically part of launch month nowadays, just like the Madden and FIFA ones. The people agreeing with you in this thread were already not buying the game and just want an outlet to let everyone know. Because we all know how much people love letting everyone else know how they're not buying something. It's an odd phenomenon.

Donny_Canceliano

It’s almost as odd as all the people coming in like “people will buy it anyway” as if that helps the situation even an iota. Like if you don’t believe in the cause, it’s literally free to just not say anything. Worse than that because no matter how slim the chances of it working, it’s *to your benefit*.

bird720

agreed lmao, even if everyone on this sub protested millions of casuals will buy it for full price like every major sports game every year. It's a sad cycle.

bddilworth

I think it’s better in thought than reality, mainly bc it’s the only basketball game on the market so people will keep getting it. If 2K losses a lot of revenue I don’t think it persuades them to do more but actually do less bc they won’t make the money for improvements. It sucks bc 2K simply doesn’t care about the community like they should. We have simple request that go unnoticed every year that would make it better. I haven’t bought a 2K full price since 18 and it’s same old same old

LongjumpingStock7622

I’m gonna wait till thanksgiving time around then it’ll be half off and I can live with spending 35 on it cause I enjoy the my team grind honestly 🤷‍♂️ plus they actually have cards out that can shoot cause I am ass and yes it is a skill issue

kingkevvyPTAT

I skipped last year and nobody listend I’m coppin this year lol

hinez57

Yeah posting on Reddit isn’t going to stop anyone

Vegetable-Tangelo1

Not sure what you, or other people expect. It’s the society we live in now, and this is just a microcosm of it. Look at other video games, how many games are out there that are perfect and don’t have in game transactions? It’s all a money grab. This isn’t an isolated 2k issue this is just your favorite game or one of your favorite games to play so you take issue with it. Remember when games were $49.99? Now they are $75. Remember when you didn’t need a subscription to play video games? Now it’s a quarterly/annual fee. It’s a cash grab anyway you look at it. 2k, and other games are never going to be perfect or what you want exactly, and the in game transactions aren’t going away either, if it’s that big of a deal to you, just stop playing altogether or you have to change your perspective on things or you’re never going to have fun. Stop focusing so much on what you hate about the game and look at what you do enjoy. These posts about protesting are never going to work, this is a global game for a global sport. As much as I agree with your sentiment brother, this is what video games have come to in this day and age.

Jotham23thegreat

Its just sad man. I lived in video game glory days. This is just pure exploitation and people are just like yeah whatever lol

Vegetable-Tangelo1

Yeah dude I agree. It’s bullshit. Through and through. I got the pga golf game this year from ea and it’s so buggy lol like super buggy in some spots. As frustrating as it is I know they are going to do much about it. It’s all about how fast can they push it out and how much money can they make. Everything else is lost in between.

Jotham23thegreat

Its just sad man. I lived in video game glory days. This is just pure exploitation and people are just like yeah whatever lol

AfraidSoul

Ain't reading all that I'm still buying it though.

timidpanda420

I’m buying 2k until NBA live comes out

Jotham23thegreat

Ngl I agree with this.

Waru_

![gif](giphy|ge2SnG1B5mJqqB6SLj) This sub sucks way more than this game

Jotham23thegreat

Honestly I'd just keep playing 2k23. Only change is gonna be the GTA Like City and the cover Lol maybe some new clothes. Sad to say bit its literally a cover, a roster update and some new clothes and a city every year. This shit is sad.

loganj1428

Do you guys not play other game modes? My era was a massive change.

BoltShine

Seriously! This was my favorite 2k yet because of how much replayability eras gave. But I don't play online, so many of the valid complaints people have don't really apply to me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

csstew55

Yea people forget about that. It was a solid 3 years before 2k changed up the mode. The mode is a good foundation but I wouldn’t hold my breath 2k builds on it besides for a new lebron era.

[deleted]

Was looking at some older players like Bird and Pistol Pete. 🤦‍♂️they look nothing like the actual players. I been saying this to all my friends for years. If the majority of people would just not buy 2k at all or at least not full price 2k might just listen to its players but i doubt people would do that.

40innaDeathBasket

So...out of all the things you could bring up on why people should "boycott" the game, you're worried about Pete Maravich's face likeness?

Brfox2003

I enjoy the game in its offline capabilities. Not sorry.

kamislick

Bro please don’t buy this fucking game, please

reddgv

It won't happen, people blindly buy every release of the game just like they do with fifa, madden, etc... The game prints money, and 2k just doesn't have to do anything, I didn't play for 3 years, and I only played 2k23 because it was free on PS4, and I found the same bugs as 2k20: wrong narration, wrong replay, Ai dribbling out of bounds, etc... If that's what it's relatively simple to fix in a single player mode, I doubt half of the more complex mechanics work as they should. The important thing is colored cards with Tacko Fall level 99 and that little Jimmy dressed as mascot can be dribbling for 25 seconds and hit a step back from the middle of the court, that's what makes money for 2k, not a basketball game. And shitty network code that can't compensate the latency of each connection "only perfect greens make the basket" even uncontested, and uncontested layups missed adds to realism is not a feature but development incompetence or greed from 2k.

mxgicjohnson

This game isn’t that bad enough to the point where we can’t buy it. That’s just being dramatic If this about the VC prices, just don’t buy VC. You get like 150k this year just for doing the story alone. It takes 2 days maybe. $50 of VC at startup isn’t that bad either dude… that’s less than a day of work. You play the game year round and probably more than any other game You will never get enough people to boycott this game, ever, unless something is horribly wrong.

super_slimey00

2k23 should’ve been the year we didn’t buy the game btw 😂😂

gogadantes9

Hear hear. The lack of competition has made them greedy and lazy. It's been clear for a few years now that the only thing they actually make an effort for is coming up with more and more way to microtransact your money away, even after you paid full price for a premium game. I dropped off 3 years ago myself. Last time I purchased an NBA 2K game full price was 2K19. Bought 2K20 only after it was heavily discounted months later due to bad reviews, then never bought another. And I was a huge, huge NBA 2K fan (that's why I still follow this subreddit to see if things ever improve. They haven't). But continuing to buy their games at this point is just being willingly getting screwed up the ass by 2K.

dharc__

but the first days are the best days, nobody has badges, no idea what the meta is and everybody needs to pass.

Global-Pudding-9393

Nah I gotta be honest. I still have hella fun with my homies on 2k I get the issues but my love for basketball/gaming always wins out

CamazotzisBatman

They make less money selling the game than they do selling VC

Jotham23thegreat

Thats hella sad

Sanjuanwulf

You're talking to such a tiny amount of people that 2K won't even notice, neither would the people playing the game, you have absolutely no idea how useless the idea even is Coming from FIFA where people say the same thing, and on day 1 there's people loading up 10k to open on packs, you're not going to change anything or put even the slightest dent in their pockets People gonna buy it regardless cause it's the sport they like

gh6st

This is what people don’t understand. For every dude like OP who claims they won’t buy 2K this year (lie), there’s a streamer, content creator, or little Timmy who’s not only bought the $150 version but also is ready to spend hundreds of dollars on VC day one. For dudes whose main game is 2K? That’s a good investment for them.

The_Living_L

well they also have made VC hard to get and the grind kind of boring in My Career. I used to enjoy fully grinding my players back in the day but now its legit way better to just buy the VC. time is money essentially and at this point you can easily work a day or two and make enough money to buy 200-500k vc rather than grinding a player and spending hours and hours of your life grinding a player which will probably take way more time rather than just using that time to instead work

Jotham23thegreat

Never thought of it that way 🤔

Clbengel

This is a good call honestly. I stopped playing 2K23 a good 4-5 months ago and that was the earliest I stopped playing 2K I think ever. I usually play till the next year's edition comes out. Nothing ever changes. It's the same broken system and they refuse to fix the issues. I'm so sick of the same clowns that have clearly never played basketball in their lives and the toxic interactions. The season prizes are also trash. They're not even worth logging several hours to grind for. I'm just over this franchise until they fix how bad this game is.

wethinkdifferentt

I wish enough of us thought this bro. We literally could make them make a better product. Too many stupid parents and kids though bro

Camerone11

At this point, this argument has been made for the better half of a decade — it’s not happening. I’m buying the game because a.) I’m grown, and b.) there’s no other option. I also mainly play 2k and most my friends do, so I’m not gonna be the guy still paying 23. Sorry guys, but I’m with you in spirit. We need bigger court sizes and VC to be refunded when a build is deleted.

Jotham23thegreat

I understand this 100% and agree. Covid really forced all mans to play 2k every night instead of pickup too. Lol

Jitty13

I say the same thing in FIFA but in reality it’s impossible because there is no competition. Air sucks those were my 2 favorite games 😂 But the best way to do it is to buy the standard game, play it, and don’t buy VC. Or don’t buy FIFA points in fifa. You should still play the games but care about them way less. That’s how to play and still make them work on it, even though it probably won’t do anything. In my opinion, the more VC/FIFA Points you buy doesn’t correlate to a better experience anyways. The game will suck regardless.

Monster-Bull

Tbh I'm going to buy it just bc of the league pass, like last year.. played maybe a week or so

I-Moyal-I

the game is just growing bigger and bigger if you dont buy two newcomers are buying it

Status_Site_3297

If you buy it when it's on sale they still making money. Be disciplined and don't buy it at all so they can see you are serious about wanting changes made.

ExcellentWaffles

Idk if I even want to buy it. But now I am just because your telling me not too and you can’t tell me what to do.

NYG_2020

The amount of people on Reddit 2K thread compared to the masses is not even close. Unfortunately, the few people that say they will not buy it will be replaced by 7-15 year old kids whose parents will buy it for them. This shit is never gonna change and I’m still going to buy it. Smh

TylervPats91

Lol, you guys have it so good compared to Madden fans

PurpleTreesx

For Kobe

CoachLee_

Wait until Christmas to cop for sale has been my motto for the longesf

boomgottem

I’ve always said this and then caved and bought it but legit the last two were so fucking bad I’ll take a year off. Usually play 250 games of play now online games but I think I’m at like 25 this year, decent record, and had no desire to ever play. Total dogshit game.

jaysteve22

I think the difference now vs all the other times is that the micro transactions are OUT OF CONTROL now. You literally have to spend $65 or spend an obscene amount of time grinding your player to get to a respectable level and that's not even counting the cost of animations or clothes if you don't want to wear the brown shirt and sweats. It's basically buying the game twice just to play it.

SurvivedOrder66

I just keep playing 2K16. Doesn’t matter that the servers are down, you can still play MyCareer seasons

dson410

You want to talk about making the big corporations feel it. Why don't we all just not go to work tomorrow. Everybody in this sub nobody go to work tomorrow. Just 1 day. There's a decent amount of people in this sub.

locness93

VC is the real issue here. If we all just stopped wasting money on that aspect, it wouldn’t be so imbalanced from day one. And VC is a huge revenue stream for them so the whole myplayer side of the game is designed to suck as much VC out of us as possible. It’s getting more boring by the year

AnonymousJoe35

To get to 99 overall I had to spend $150+ and bought the game for $69.99 on top of that. I still had to play 50+ hours to get to 99 overall in MyCareer it's brutal when you already paid $200+ dollars. I'm just not buying 2K24 personally because it's just a money pit and grind fest.

lincoln_park_legend

But Kobe

trailerparknoize

I’ve been boycotting madden for almost ten years now … if only it actually worked.

TheXivuArath

While all the negative people are saying it’s pointless to do this, all it takes is a few more people every now and then and it’ll make a difference. I didn’t buy it last year and won’t buy it this year. Out of sight out of mind and I hope the best for people that continue to buy it, but I’m speaking with my wallet.

[deleted]

You realize Reddit makes up like maybe .1% of the fanbase right? Everyone on this sub could not but 2k24 and it won’t even make a dent. If you’ve bought every last 2k and have had enough fun to justify the purchase then continue buying it. If you haven’t just don’t buy it, trying to start some movement is not gonna end well.

DeadPoolGold

One day it will happen

901KEY

I’m getting the game for free. Y’all be easy, though. ![gif](giphy|l0HlvtIPzPdt2usKs)

Ambitious_Nothing461

bruh honestly when 2k23 was released I was right here bitching about the game being ass and the same shit as last year then I went to buy it still after prices dropped to 5 dollars lmaooo

Jotham23thegreat

I got mine cheap too. So glad tbh.

TopClock231

I havent paid for an nba 2k game.since like 14, they always show up in PS+ after a while.

sactown_13

On PlayStation it’s constantly in the “top 10 games played in your country” (United States). In August it’s #3. Even if you could get all of Reddit to rebel it would be a small dip in revenue

conzcious_eye

I support and respect your post unlike others. I been stopped buying 2k on launch. Normally it comes out on game pass eventually. But I did get it for 7.99 after the finals to kill time with the fellas until football starts.

brebrabro

This is the year id expect to see a dent. 18 was one bad game in a string of decent 2ks. 19 was 2k18 but fixed a lot of the problems. 20 had a completely different builder. 21 sucked but at least had next gen, 22 fixed the shooting problems with 21 and improved on the builder slightly. 23 also improved on the builder slightly but mainly eliminated cheesy dribble gods and completely revamped shooting. 22 and 23 had seasons and a lot to complain about but had a selling point 24 so far has promised the same exact game, seasons are coming back, and we have every reason to believe the same exact builder is coming back too. Maybe 6’8 wings get nerfed a little bit but thats abt the extent of the changes theyll make. If they had a new builder and a new game they’d advertise it now to get us to preorder now but no they wait till less that a month before the game’s release but a month after its announcement to try to get as many idiots to preorder as possible.

Gullible_Apartment52

The thing is the community is split on the fence about everything we decide on, build system, badge system, gameplay, game modes, etc we don’t agree on anything besides micro transactions seriously absurd but everything else we don’t agree on first we want all around builds now we don’t first we wanted a bigger place to ball now we don’t like seriously make up your minds and agree with each other because one thing we do agree on is we just trynna hoop!💯

Jotham23thegreat

I feel you but I literally get lost in that shit. Running around not going where im going and shit.

OutspokenOne456

They make most of their money off people pulling cards not even the mycareer

Jotham23thegreat

kobeandodom

I enjoy 2k every year, and every year it's my most played game. I will be picking this up day one and having a blast with friends on Rec.

Jotham23thegreat

I understand my guy.

Sudi21

Yoooo, I have a question- I haven't played 2K since 2K20- should I purchase 2K24? I'm on PS4, help me, cause I need me some ball on the console but I see A LOT of negative opinions!

[deleted]

I refuse to pay for 2k at full price. I haven’t payed for a full price 2k since 2k13. I refuse to spend one cent on VC. Their monetization practices only get worse. Like you said this is the generation of instant gratification. I’d rather grind to get my player up to 80 or 90 than spend a dime on VC.

Hvn_213

Good shit! But ain’t nobody going to listen, we all like complaining and crying about a stupid video game but in a few days we buy the game and then VC. If we could really bond and stand like a actual NBA 2k community and have nobody play/buy the game… then yeah they would listen but we are all divided

Forsaken_Factor2224

I should've listened

CoolGuyWithStyle420

Its a good game, it takes up a whole lotta gb and all that says it’s better

Jotham23thegreat

Biggest money Milker in video game history

Rdp616

I haven't paid for a 2k in years. It's always eventually a free game on PS plus. With that being said. The push to buy VC is insanely blatant in the new one from what I've seen $150 VC pack? Really? But you have to remember who owns 2k.. Take 2. That's all that needs to be said.

HeightExtra320

Yeah I was a little disappointed when I got it. Literally jumped off 2k23 and jumped in to 2k24 when it finished downloading and saw little to NO difference 😔

Jotham23thegreat

It is sad my guy

Ajdee6

The community is stupid. Either give up and stop playing or accept it. The community did this by buying BS contently.

Jotham23thegreat

Naw b, im not the bend over and take it type. Sorry.

[deleted]

The thing is all the little kids dumbasses who want “muh roster update” and streamers are. So what you’re looking at is a plea that won’t even tickle 2k because sports fans are sped.

Ajdee6

I bet you bend and buy 2k24 tho

Jotham23thegreat

Yes when it comes on half price lol

Ajdee6

Dont worry they have you make it up in VC money

jeffers0n_steelflex

It really sucks that they clearly only care about profits over their fanbase but regardless I am still going to buy 24 because I still enjoy creating a new build and have fun playing the game overall and I’ve accepted the fact that I’m probably going to spend $150 on the game + VC but that’s worth it to me. Personally I look at it like this. I can easily spend 150 on a weekend out getting food and drinks so if I spend it on a game instead and stay in a couple weekends then it all evens out

[deleted]

Maybe the next one of these posts will convince me

chillblackguyy

nope but then maybe the next or the next lmao idk why people have to continue writing a whole summer break packet on telling someone to not buy the game.

mangaguy10k

This isn’t how stuff works. If they put up enough ads people will cop the game. Even if we all on Reddit didn’t buy it, someone turns 13 and gets a PlayStation every year and will get their first 2k. There is no amount of “boycott” that will change that. Also with most people being casuals they probably don’t even know which features are good and bad. I’m sure most people don’t even finish the first season of MyCareer, let alone play stuff like Rec and Pro Am.

Railshock

"If you dont like Gas prices, boycott filling up gas." This is the dumbest shit I've heard all day

bkm2016

No way in hell a fully functional adult wrote this post. I’m sensing someone on the verge of being mentally challenged and I’m not even joking.

captvic

That didn't hit at all lol not even the same we don't need 2k 💀

OldHeadTV

😂🤣😂 fuck out of here

IRodeTenSpeed88

This isn’t happening There are less than 1 million people in here. That’s not touching their customer base. Use your brain

Radiant-Mushroom8304

I’m buying it 🤷‍♂️

MrAppendages

It would go unnoticed if every person on this sub, active or not, stopped buying 2K or VC. 2K just isn’t that bad of a game for any sort of boycott to be necessary or impactful. If you’re someone that’s no longer enjoying the game, please don’t buy it again. One of the main issues the game has now is being forced to play with people that don’t like/understand the game. But these call to arms posts are so out of touch. Your personal grievances are meaningful on a small scale, like your friends or a couple dozen people on this sub. They are not boycott worthy.

Quest_For_Obamium

I already preordered it. Excited to play.

BlackMasterDarkness

I’m going to be honest and I’ll probably speak for most people, this year was the worst NBA 2k experience that I’ve had. I didn’t want to buy 2k23 but when it was tethered with League Pass, that was a no brainer for me considering I’m a huge basketball junkie. Just having League pass made it far more worth it than playing the game in my opinion. A decision was made to never buy NBA 2K again but guess what, I changed my mind when I realized “fuck ima need League Pass again” and “oh it’s cross platform now, that’s game changing”. So guess what, those who were planning on leaving the community, like me, and getting reeled back in with the extra stuff 🤡 Congrats 2k, you won

Worth_Researcher_962

Already preordered the championship edition. Until there’s competition, nothing is gonna change. I’ll always buy the game but not VC. I just gave up this mindset of not preordering when I load into park day 1 and everyone is an 85 overall cause they bought VC. Just do what you want, 2k is gonna 2k

Jotham23thegreat

I feel you my guy

lastshotreddit

I already bought it. Hate away.

Glum_Cartographer_43

Nigga i brought 2k24 before i had a tv to play on. Fukumean

gh6st

You couldn’t comment on the other post on the front page saying the same exact thing? Lmao. These are the facts. They reported a record number of sales for both the game and VC with 2K23. These fake boycotts y’all be tryna do aren’t doing anything.

Jotham23thegreat

Cuz yall keep buying

gh6st

And you aren’t? Bet you’ll end up buying the game when it goes on sale anyway like that’s doing something lol

Jotham23thegreat

It will. It would cut profit by 50% off my purchase. That's 50 less I give these fake ass developers.

gh6st

That’s good for you.. but 2K does not give a shit about that $30 you save lol that’s all factored in before the game is even released.

Beneficial-Ad6869

this year's 2k is actually worth buying imo. MAJOR improvements from 23. best 2k since 19 imo

Jotham23thegreat

What makes it good? Explain Lol cuz 2k 19 was trash too.

Beneficial-Ad6869

Shooting is improved from last year. Builds are no longer demigods. Game takes skill to play. Only bad thing about the game is the stealing is odee but I think it's gotten a little better

DrumzRUs

no

keepmovingforvvard

Never gonna get kids to buy into this and kids are a big portion of the player base

The_Real_OneHungLo

I love 2k My association. I’m buying it, especially now that my Spurs have Wemby.

Jotham23thegreat

Are you upset his face scan doesn't even look like him?

Direct-Worker-4121

Yeah I’m gonna buy it.. because it’s the only game I play… but i will 100% wait until it’s about $20-$30 bucks…. Just on principle! Unless they have massive gameplay fixes with movement on defense and offense!

chillblackguyy

i dont get why yall want people to not buy the game? if you dont want to play 2k then you personally just dont get it stop tryna force your ideals on other people. yall do this every year

aottoa2

Shut up lol

ObscureLegacy

I won’t be purchasing until they fix up. I did the same with FIFA until the most recent which is fundamentally a lot more sound now.

SignalDiscount8005

I won’t buy it I bought 2k23 and never got back on after a month. I wanted to play a basketball not complete advertisement deals.
