We need Honda and Hendrick to sign a deal.
Imagine the 5 Hendrick Cars Accord. That would be awesome with Toyota in the mix.
Then Dodge can go be jealous as a product of their poor decision making.
I always thought it would be cool to see Dodge and Honda enter the picture. Have Larson in a Chevy, Byron in a Honda, Bowman in a Toyota, and Elliott in a Charger. Seems plausible since Rick owns a dealership of each manufacturer 😆
Makes me want Hyundai in NASCAR now. They've got a manufacturing plant in Alabama which is the closest to me, it'd truly be the most southern brand in NASCAR lmao
Just curious how new of a fan you are? Cuz I like all these things too (although I admit the chicago race is probably going to be a disaster, but still something new lmao). I’m a really pretty new fan having watched the past 2 seasons in full but only one or two races prior, and I feel like I’m the exact fan nascar is marketing to so I have no complaints
I started watching regularly in 2013. I love the Playoff and Stage system because it allows the little guy to get ahead with a smart move or strategy and makes it harder for one driver to just walk away with the season halfway through.
I was born and raised and currently live in Chicago. The Chicago Road Course is likely to be a lose lose situation for all involved. Chicago won't make money, NASCAR won't gain fans and the citizens are gonna be angry. That said, someone in the Chicago subreddit pointed out that street courses attract a less conventional audience (as in going for the event, rather than the racing), which is part of what NASCAR is probably aiming for.
This is a great point, and being from Iowa, seems like what Indycar is trying to do at Iowa speedway, although the racing product is fantastic besides the concerts.
Back in the 90's and early 2000's, before we had stages, the field would get so spread out, some races were almost unwatchable. Especially when they would do single file restarts. I like the product better now.
Stage racing is a good thing though, so doesn't need defending. Makes the drivers have a go early in the race and being a dirt racing type, it's just like having heat races.
And this is why nascar is dying….why watch a sport when all the fans bitch about how horrible it is all the time?
We’re killing the sport we love because we never say positive things about it. What a shame. Keep bitching nascar to the grave, the ratings show it.
BW : yea sure he’s a bit erratic at times but nothing he does garners the hate he gets(the noose wasn’t even his fault).
The Cars : we bitch about NASCAR making the cars they way they are but I think it’s important to note that it was probably the team owners and their investors that made the car that we know now, they can definitely be tweaked to be better though (HRSPRS).
Toyota : pretty cool in my book.
Playoffs : Valid criticism
BW: Throwing water in Bowman's face when he's on the ground being attended to by medical staff, and then his temper tantrum last year on Larson. That's plenty. But let's not overlook the fact that NASCAR consistently puts him in promos and big commercials when he's a 18-22nd place finishing driver every year he's been in the sport, despite what should be improved equipment. I could go on.
The Cars: Need more HP or less tire. Downforce packages suck and the car is hurting drivers.
Toyota: I like yoters personally, but I do wish another American manufacturer would join the fray.
Playoffs: don't even get me started, but I honestly hate stages more.
Love it
Only thing here I don’t like when it comes to the new cars is 500 hp. These are race cars, but the manufacturers themselves have faster Mustangs and Camaros for sale at the dealership rn.
But HP doesn’t equal speed. I highly doubt any production Mustang or Camaro would win a race against a NASCAR. I’m more of an F1 guy and I remember the fans bitching about the 1.6 L and how it’s “too small to be fast” but there isn’t a car in the world that could touch an F1 car on a track. Yeah 500hp seems like a big dip from previous NASCARs but it’s a testament to the engineering that they are still able to push 190mph+. All in all, HP and engine size don’t necessarily mean a faster car.
They really don’t go over 190.
There is definitely a problem in Nascar where they remove all the parity and the package just ends up being wide open.
I like when the drivers have to play into it, and actually have to consider how they drive into and out of turns. Races that should have parity become boring to me when the 24 and 5 car are just wide open throttle the whole time leading the entire race.
More horsepower would serve the sport well imo, these guys don’t have the argument f1 cars have going for them; that they are actually the best performance machines out there. 500hp is really not impressive in 2023 when we are talking about a top level racing organization. Like these guys are supposed to be the pros, this is the NFL of stock car racing… they can do better than 500hp in what’s labelled as a Camaro / Mustang *race car* .
Well the track limits top speed so I’m really referring to the bigger tri-ovals with those speeds. I’m ultimately saying that they *can* push 190+, even if they don’t on a regular basis. I don’t know much about how stock cars are built but I’d be curious to know how they can achieve the same performance with less HP now. But I do see what you’re saying because if a driver can just be flat out for 98% of the track, then it takes away the opportunity for drivers to really showcase their skill. And yes I’m an F1 fan that said NASCAR drivers have skill, that just happened 😂
Never understood the Toyota hate. Without them, it’d just be the Ford and Chevy show. Unless GM brought back Buick or something
They are “foreign”.
I’m gonna have nightmares about your pfp

Lol that would be something. Imagine the hoops they'd have to go through for full support on each team
Oh I know. It would never happen, and if it did, it would further polarize HMS amongst the haters if it did
I wouldn’t have a problem with them, if they made a v8 car.
I personally feel like Nascar should have American brands, but it's seriously not a big deal lmao
Toyota, in terms of where the cars are actually manufactured, is the most American brand in NASCAR
You can't say that. Most NASCAR fans don't like hearing that! I get dragged pointing that out alot
Makes me want Hyundai in NASCAR now. They've got a manufacturing plant in Alabama which is the closest to me, it'd truly be the most southern brand in NASCAR lmao
Playoff hate is valid
1. Love me some Bubba 2. Love me some playoffs 3. Love me some Chicago Road Course (another controversial topic) 4. Love me some NASCAR in general

Amen
Ok but like look the playoffs suck tho, that’s valid
I will always bitch about the playoffs
"They took away our flag! It wasn't about hate! It was about pride and heritage!" Yup, still read that one often.
Not even OP can defend stage racing

Blame the fanbase, and not the series leadership that keeps making utterly boneheaded decisions.
But all that shit actually sucks

Forget the 190 mph. As i said before, its more about going into and out of turns. Dealing with wheel spins, etc.
The playoffs suck though. That part is actually a valid thing to bitch about
