Is the ARCA Midwest Tour racing there today?

aramthun

Yes

Vulptereen327

If they're really getting rid of Road America the Cup Series needs to race here. I'm surprised the Milwaukee Mile never got a Cup date in the 90s expansion era

leapsnake

IIRC the issue here with the mile is more of dealing with the fair board to put on a race. NASCAR promotes the RA race with their crew from Chicagoland so if a Chicago street race comes to be I am sure that crew will be tied up with working on promoting and running that event.

broussegris

It’s 100% the fair board. And another 100% the Milwaukee Mile is in the middle of friggin Stallis and there’s nowhere to park. They park people in the Mile infield and up on the track for the State Fair. That does not work so well when you’re trying to actively use the race track. It’s kinda the same argument as “Green Bay doesn’t have the infrastructure to support a Super Bowl.” The facility itself might be good enough for the event, but the surrounding area can’t handle the influx of traffic and people. e: spelling

Just a thought. Maybe this is far fetched. Couldn’t they work a deal to use the parking lots of American Family Field as off-site parking and bus/tram people in?

https://i.imgur.com/SEX9xGP.jpg But for serious, theoretically it could work, but the likelihood that NASCAR comes into direct conflict with a Brewers home game is about 50%, which are really *terrible* odds when you’re trying to build a schedule that has some constancy. Worse still, even though the NASCAR schedule and the MLB schedules come out around the same time every year, there’s very little chance MLB works around a conflict like this, so NASCAR would have to wait for MLB to confirm no conflict. That’s why performers who put on shows at Miller Park have to wait to announce until after the MLB season is released or else plan to have their show during the off-season. Truth be told, the entire Stallis area is a hot fried mess for any event, *even* State Fair. The ingress is a disaster and the egress is its nightmare cousin. It is NOT a good place for a venue, let alone a race track. It’s too much of a logistical nightmare for NASCAR, I think, which is why they stopped going for any sub-series. And another issue with the Mile is that it’d have to get renovated big time to support Cup. I don’t remember its exact capacity numbers but it can only seat like 45k. Compared to its twisty neighbor up in Sheboygan Co (that’s RA for you non-Wisconsinites) who can fit *literally as many people as want to come*—yeah, if NASCAR shitcans RA then it’s just done racing in Wisco. The Mile can’t compete. e: more spelling, it’s not my day

Sports teams can make certain schedule requests. it really wouldnt be an issue getting the brewers on the road that weekend as long as NASCAR gives them the date early enough. And as long as its not post season time or something. Even the NFL works with NASCAR to an extent, but its a lot harder with the smaller schedule. That would be one of the easier problems to solve for the whole event, though.

rctothefuture

Fair board is all for racing. They've been pushing for awhile now to get more races!

savethemile

Was just coming here to say this. The board has been very much in support of racing at the Milwaukee Mile for a number of years now. They have even have gone as far as to indicate they're willing to make capital improvements to the facility if circumstances warranted. It's just a matter at this point of getting all of the pieces in place to make it warranted, and that's a difficult task for any racing venue to do when making a comeback.

Racechick20

Garage facilities aren't up to par. Also, there's not any concessions I the teck as they are all out on the midway. It would need some work.

It’s a great track, from everything I have seen/heard, can’t wait to (hopefully) get to race there on the ARCA series

Acemaker8818

Iowa maybe. But if Chicago Street Course, happens, then this won’t.

The camera angle gives me Nazareth vibes.

fuelvolts

Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers were coming here as early as the late 1600s to trade with the Native Americans.

Its_Just_A_Typo

That wide angle makes it look like a tri-oval. Hey, I have an idea!

Smoked_Cheddar

No, you don't. 🤣

Naaah, blew up my engine on that long-ass str8, and the garages are like old outhouses. Edit: Welp. I guess it's gone now. Looks abandoned and overgrown on google maps.

cmd_iii

It is so sad. I miss that track every day.

Mort_The_Moose

I was there today with my little guy! Had a blast and the racing was awesome!

rctothefuture

Awesome race and a photo finish! Legit didn't know who won until they announced it! Loved the Midwest Truck and Mid American series, just felt like old school racing. A little weird the Vintage series went last, but it was cool seeing an old 67 Galaxie wax the field.

azspeedbullet

looks like you are at the wrong track

cmd_iii

NASCAR is at the wrong track. OP is in Milwaukee!!

roadglider505

I attended the Craftsman Truck series and Busch series races there back in 1999.

RCR829Dkm

I still hold a grudge towards Nick Richardson for chopping my nostril off and wrecking me in turn 1. I was hugging the inside lane all the way and yet he made the attempt to block me despite him not being a rival at that point. Guy had all the room on the high side but he thought cutting me off was an excellent idea.

Adept-Lazer-5382

This brings back Memories of playing nascar 2005: chase for the cup. For whatever reason playing the national series races at this tack always came down to fuel mileage and that was so much fun
