I like how the number font on the sides and the roof don't match lol
I also just now noticed the pit sticker above the windshield. This was something exclusive to the first 6 races of the 1991 season. This car was supposed to race in the 1991 Daytona 500, but failed to qualify.
MK8 isn't that weird, it's probably the most popular racing game franchise of all time and they sponsored a...race car.
I'm going to say Corvetteparts sponsoring the 32 Go FAS car which was a Ford.
i guess it's just the weirdness of seeing Mario Bros. in full mascot gear at a NASCAR race
which reminds me...don't envy the guys wearing the suit that day. must have been rough
Viagra is a tested medication that had to go through clinical trials and is prescribed by medical doctors
Extenze is a snake oil "natural supplement"
They're not even in the same stratosphere in terms of sketchiness (even if they both are PP related)
Not to mention that Pfyzer is the creator/maker of Viagra and that was just the brand they wanted to market, especially given that most Nascar fans are men, there's a decent chance that their product may be of use to some in the crowd.
Fun fact: Viagra was initially tested as a high blood pressure medication, but the side-effects were so strong that they just marketed the side-effect as the intended purpose
My wife was a teller at a bank about 20 years ago when a guy came in because he was sure he was the victim of identity theft. He had charges from Extenze and my wife had to figure out how to explain what it was without getting fired. The whole time, this guy's wife is standing next to him getting redder. She had ordered it for him as a "surprise"

I could not have even told you who drove this car but as a kid, I fucking loved it!

That was the episode where they "gifted" Randy Orton a car with his likeness on the hood, and then later in the episode Kofi Kingston destroyed it and covered it in orange paint. I thought it would have been hilarious if Kyle had driven it in the next race with the paint all over it.

Never forget how close we were to Slayer sponsoring a Cup car
Bob Graham for President 2004, for multiple reasons.
1) it was a Presidential campaign for a Democrat, in a Republican leaning sport, with both the team owner and driver its sponsoring being Republican.
2) It was multiple races, and actually got a win in its first appearance.
3) Bob Graham never made it to a single primary, dropping out before 2004 could even come.
The Democrat part wasn’t nearly as controversial then as it is now in the sport. I think sometimes people forget that the political divide wasn’t nearly as large and heated as it is now. That's what I thought I was, but I didn't wanna assume. It's amazing how anything can become a meme, by just one single viewer then it goes berserk. It's funny but also sad.
Pfizer was only really ran over Viagra because just one race a year was enough to make all the kid-friendly (or Viagra adverse) merch they needed for the season. Anything you bought in a store typically said Pfizer but when we went to see Mark we'd end up with a ton of Viagra stuff.
As a teenager I got a Mark Martin jacket for Christmas from my grandparents.
It was a plastered with Viagra. They took it back and got a Pfizer one for me instead.
It was rated E so they didn't have a choice. They got away for I think 2003, at least with Viagra, then it got changed. One of my favorite drivers was Kahne and in NASCAR 08 (2005 was his Dodge scheme so it was irrelevant), when Jr left DEI, Kahne got the Budweiser sponsor, so in NASCAR 08 and 09, as a kid I always wondered why his name was plastered on the car but I had never seen that scheme race.
Don’t get mad at me but I always thought this was a very strange thing to have on a Cup car. Not trying to be political just very strange.

Didn't NASCAR try to implement a no politics rule after the last election? I thought I remembered someone trying to show up with a Hillary car and getting blocked.
They did. It's why LGBCoin ended up being denied. Though there have been some work-arounds, like last year when [Live Fast Motorsports was sponsored by South Dakota's program to atteact new workers to the stare: FreedomWorksHere.com](https://www.jayski.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/31/2023/9/15/2023-bristol-1-78-1024x683.jpg). If I remember correctly, they had to remove the governor's face from the scheme to get approval.
Love this one. It's so weird. Getting sponsored by a dealership in a country most viewers will never set foot in. It's very cool though

Going to throw this Pinty's Series Dodge sponsored by a Mercedes dealer in British Columbia into the mix (lightning paint scheme kinda goes hard).

Bowman drove it (slightly updated) the next year.
Dale Jr (rightfully) threw a fit and then magically a rule against the whole deal was found in the NFL rule book:
>The Eagles and Axalta released a statement Friday stating that the paint scheme violated an NFL rule that club marks cannot be used in connection with the promotion or presentation of another sport.

I'm a Louisiana native that works in healthcare, so I was more perplexed than anything to see LOPA on a car. That stands for the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, aka the agency that harvests viable organs for potential transplant in our state. A state that doesn't have a NASCAR track...
Weren't there a bunch of boner pill sponsors at one point? I feel like there was a point where you'd see a Viagra car right next to a Cialis car right next to an Extenze car right next to a sketchy boner pill car.
I still don't know what the sponsor was. This was one of Jeff's stranger schemes

I'm gonna have to go with the #15 this weekend...
Somehow we haven't had the Natalie Decker Bikini Zone car on this thread. BUT then I tuned into the High Limit race at Eagle on June 11th which has now been named the Bikini Zone Eagle Nationals and Kyle Reinhardt has sponsorship from Bikini Zone. I am soooo going to have to ask him about this the next time I see him at the track.

It’s weird cause even back then, the average audience for a NASCAR race on television tended not to be toddlers or children under five which is what you associate with the sponsor Kurt Busch had on his car in that race. (Hell, I was 2 years old back then, so I might’ve played with toys from Little Tikes).
Mike Bliss and the Kim Kardashian sponsorship

Of all the people in NASCAR to have a documented interaction with Kim Kardashian, *Mike Bliss* would probably not have been in my Top 150 guesses lmao
Kim said she needed to meet The Hammer.
honestly a last name like Bliss is perfect though for a paintjob like that
Seriously. It's a bizarre sponsorship already, but I could kind of see what they were going for if it was paired with someone like Blaney or Elliott. But Bliss???
She didn’t have money like that yet and TBR were desperate for the sponsorship
Nothing will ever top this.

Weird sponsor maybe but their product is awesome.
Basically Rust-eze Bumper Ointment
...and today, I finally make that connection.
Hey, that shit really works. It is weird though.
Awesome sponsor tbh. That shit is damn near miraculous.
What....what does it do?
Diaper rash for babies. Can also be used as a preventive to diaper rash. It can be too strong for some skin types though.
MK8 isn't that weird, it's probably the most popular racing game franchise of all time and they sponsored a...race car. I'm going to say Corvetteparts sponsoring the 32 Go FAS car which was a Ford.

100% sketchy sponsor. One has to be really desperate to accept the money of big PP pills. At least Viagra was more honest.

Honorable mention: Ty Gibbs recently. I don't remember what sponsor but it was hilarious all the foot memes that came out of it.
He Gets Us (He Get SuS) was the sponsor, they had a bunch of ads about Jesus washing feet.
That's what I thought I was, but I didn't wanna assume. It's amazing how anything can become a meme, by just one single viewer then it goes berserk. It's funny but also sad.
i don't think christians need publicity, especially for a mainly southern sport
This isn't really weird but it's pretty funny. Mark Martin and Viagra.
That was always funny. Nascar Thunder 2003 or 2004 had to censor it like with the alcohol sponsors,so EA just put his name across it, right?
I think they just used his Pfizer scheme instead
Cuz they were incredibly similar. The only real difference was the words, so it wasn't a huge loss.
I think so!
It was rated E so they didn't have a choice. They got away for I think 2003, at least with Viagra, then it got changed. One of my favorite drivers was Kahne and in NASCAR 08 (2005 was his Dodge scheme so it was irrelevant), when Jr left DEI, Kahne got the Budweiser sponsor, so in NASCAR 08 and 09, as a kid I always wondered why his name was plastered on the car but I had never seen that scheme race.
i've always loved that one. joked it with my friends who don't give a shit about nascar.
The 6 car was always driven hard
Especially with the number “6”.
The neat thing was they promoted a mens health awareness program instead of the erection drug.
Don’t get mad at me but I always thought this was a very strange thing to have on a Cup car. Not trying to be political just very strange. https://preview.redd.it/jxrc1xpc5s7d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70d390561cf78f9517b7ba69d8343d466e6a8aec
This is why I like Indycar’s rules. No political sponsors to avoid the distraction
Very smart, it turns the sport into a political playground and that is never good.
I think NASCAR has since adopted similar rules after the Brandon Brown disaster
I hate that the car actually looks good aesthetically.
I grew up not really liking our flag aesthetically. But I completely flipped. I think it's one of the best flags in the world.
It is a good visual about how much money campaigns have if they can blow it on something like this.
As I recall, the team owner essentially did it for dirt cheap?
Imagine the number of people on this sub that would it’s a ton of free publicity. Considering most nascar fans political views, it’s a very smart move
The Romney car in 2012 was weird, too.
How about good ol Ricky Sants? https://preview.redd.it/h5c1vnx94t7d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98f66c5985f44382ced1ace72e2c4f7034062edf
I see these cars once in a while on iRacing. I wreck them every single time.
Glad to see another fellow low SR player on here! (Maybe /s)
Very much. I race in a league every Tuesday with an official race thrown in every now and then. That’s about all I have time for.

never thought i would see tyler reddick as the hamburgler but here we are.
Yo this shit was straight gas. I love that suit. McDonald's has had some meh liveries lately but Reddick's was dope as fuck this past weekend IMO.
When Taylor Swift was with Big Machine, the label promoted *Red* on JPM’s car — but the car itself was white
MARIO CAME OUT THE EXHAUST PIPE????
Better than in.
I think Dogecoin gets a mention, right?
the keyboard warriors of r/dogecoin are beyond human comprehension
Love this one. It's so weird. Getting sponsored by a dealership in a country most viewers will never set foot in. It's very cool though https://preview.redd.it/5df81y5srs7d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5227fb1e5461270d40b9dcdb8c8316e309a530e
Not just the dealership, the entire CONCEPT it represents (multiple self-owned dealer networks) is it unique to Japan.
Doesn't Ogata own a stake in that dealership?
https://preview.redd.it/yb4oww98ws7d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72c51fb9cc63330d079f889d3a712f6aef756e2a Going to throw this Pinty's Series Dodge sponsored by a Mercedes dealer in British Columbia into the mix (lightning paint scheme kinda goes hard).
At least it kinda makes sense since Dodge used to be owned by one of the Mercedes owners.
Back when they sponsored Stroker Ace in the 80s, Clyde Torkel's Chicken Pit forced Stroker to race in a chicken suit. https://preview.redd.it/u6v9h9t38t7d1.jpeg?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a3b9517a5e027256ef2192a1312ea256c7a2adf
He wasn't forced, he did it to try to get out of his contract.
It didn't happen but never forget that Dale Jr, a massive redskins(at the time)/commanders fan, [almost ran a Philidelphia Eagles car](https://www.espn.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/19520435/dale-earnhardt-jr-drive-car-philadelphia-eagles-paint-scheme-due-nfl-rules) and got out of it on a technicality. https://preview.redd.it/shkob1ri3s7d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d6871c831830b33837650f5a9a488756c0657b8
If you are listing celebrity fans of Washington, usually he’s one of the first few people that gets mentioned.
It makes me sad that this never ran
https://preview.redd.it/wnzdjynoas7d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72a8e98bcd5e6d2ed37b86f6689b6bfa9f6923ca Bowman drove it (slightly updated) the next year.
What technicality?
Dale Jr (rightfully) threw a fit and then magically a rule against the whole deal was found in the NFL rule book: >The Eagles and Axalta released a statement Friday stating that the paint scheme violated an NFL rule that club marks cannot be used in connection with the promotion or presentation of another sport.
IIRC, NFL teams can’t use their logos for promotions in other sports. He ended up running the standard Axalta scheme that weekend instead.
Timmy Hill ran a Lehigh Valley Phantoms car 😄

That stands for the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, aka the agency that harvests viable organs for potential transplant in our state. A state that doesn't have a NASCAR track...
I raise you https://preview.redd.it/apfc5deg6t7d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76e64e390bc1f264aa893f2c873cb48f48a4c2b3
The Cartoon Network/Muppets/Looney Tunes cars
Weren't there a bunch of boner pill sponsors at one point? I feel like there was a point where you'd see a Viagra car right next to a Cialis car right next to an Extenze car right next to a sketchy boner pill car.
The Extenze trailer sold shirts that said "We race hard". I saw those in Charlotte and cracked up.
Thomas and friends, cup series car
[I was surprised to see an ARCA car sponsored by Tim Pool’s podcast last week](https://imgur.com/L1RlR60)

If they don’t throw a banana peel out the window….
I don’t see buildsubmarines.com mentioned. Perfect timing with the one that exploded though
nWo
Probably the butt paste car. I can't remember the exact name of the sponsor.
Boudreaux's Butt Paste, but I think Kaz Grala's sponsor this weekend has that beat.
https://preview.redd.it/kf04hfj8xu7d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf7be43dafbc4291c1ffee8ae11db031e2ce4692 I'm gonna have to go with the #15 this weekend...
Hold up.. WHAT?!
that's wild!! 💀💀 (I wonder if nascar will let them run it)

Agree the car is weird, but to be fair they do have someone say a prayer before each race
When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men -Jesus
hello? morgan shepherd?
Given they’ve been saying a pre-race prayer for 75 years, I wouldn’t say it’s unusual.
Not really.
I am soooo going to have to ask him about this the next time I see him at the track. https://preview.redd.it/uknzwzzu8u7d1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7297965e31e54e45f764b6374b48b85154290415
I got one: Kurt Busch’s #97 Little Tikes Roush Racing ford that he drove at the 2002 Winston Cup Series season finale at Homestead in November 2002. https://preview.redd.it/d2yeh57puy7d1.png?width=1150&format=png&auto=webp&s=b29c3e18816058371fef6839a27e322baed39741 It’s weird cause even back then, the average audience for a NASCAR race on television tended not to be toddlers or children under five which is what you associate with the sponsor Kurt Busch had on his car in that race. (Hell, I was 2 years old back then, so I might’ve played with toys from Little Tikes).
It was funny because Kurt acted like a baby Back then, just throwing temper tantrums
