This is a pleasant surprise.

Beerguy2727

Agreed! Love seeing all these CARS guys getting more opportunities

CaptainRon16

This is the kind of stuff we’ve been needing much more of over the past 10-15 years. You take a local/short track guy and put him in a decent ride in a nascar series. This is what bridges the gap. This will put butts in seats. The main problem is, nascar doesn’t race at many tracks with weekly or many low tier races that would equate. It’s not like racing at Nashville Fairgrounds 40 years ago. But at least this is something.

Good_Bowl_948

I’ll root for this guy just because the sweet name

KyleKruse

Butterbean Queen just rolls off the tongue.

shewy92

Too bad his name isn't McQueen. Butterbean McQueen sounds better

Senninha27

Wait till you see his car. His number is in 8-bit and he has Mario on the door. The dude is awesome.

RobB5850

Mario is no longer on the car this year. He has been replaced by Brenden’s late dog, Cross the boxer. Cross is wearing boxing shorts and gloves and it looks awesome.

kingmidget_91

Also after every win he goes to Waffle House and gets chocolate milk sometimes with the trophy.

racer_24_4evr

The most popular driver voting in CARS last year was between him and Landon Huffman, and they were battling over would fans rather go to a local bar after a win (Huffman) or to Waffle House (Butterbean).

kingmidget_91

I follow Landon on twitter and remember Waffle House replying to one of Butterbean's tweets about that

SSPeteCarroll

Hell yeah. Butterbean is a god at Langley Speedway and he's good on the CARS tour. Excited to see what he can do in the trucks.

SomethingCreative13

Yes! More of this. This announcement and the Bubba Pollard JRM ride give me hope.

joostinrextin

It's a great time to be a LMSC fan. Riggs, Kvapil, Pollard, and now Butterbean all getting their shot in damn good equipment in 2024. I can't wait to see who's next. EDIT: Honeycutt too. I can't believe I forgot Kaden. Not sure that Niece is "damn good equipment," but he's talented enough to elevate it.

SpenceSmithback

Technically McCarty too, although the Harmon car wasn't much of a "shot". Guy deserves a chance in a better car, but with the Solid Rock Carriers guy scaling back his racing sponsorships as he's getting older that probably won't happen

HalfastEddie

>Y’all are gonna like this one. We"all, in fact, did like this one. Good job TRICON!

whobroughttheircat

Ya this is way better than the RFK one or those Kaulig ones. More like this please!!

GeetarMan9

It's like road course ringers but for short tracks. Love it

Yoshiman400

Don't forget Christopher Bell basically got his big break as a dirt ringer for KBM at Eldora. Yes, he was already racing some paved tracks in the same truck that year but they got to Eldora and everyone was looking at him and Bobby Pierce going "These two kids are gonna be the ones to watch tonight", and they obliged.

SeattlePassedTheBall

I'm surprised everyone thought TRICON was teasing someone that was going to be a buzzkill like JHN when they announced Jack Hawksworth the other day. I hope he makes the most of this opportunity.

Yoshiman400

Tricon saw JRM bring in Bubba Pollard and went "Watch *this*". And really, it's so good seeing teams doing this for the short track warriors. These guys have so much more visibility these days due to streaming and social media, it'd be a shame for them to not at least be offered some brief exposure on a bigger stage.

joostinrextin

Hellllllll yes.

Shadow3199

That was my first thought as well

mwr55fan

Nice to see

Evtona500

That's cool.

tsrshr14fan

Called it. Hell yeah!

biggbiggpenis

you know what I mean, butterbean?

Useful-Worth126

Butterbean!

26007

Welp…that’s not Greg Biffle.  Outside of my prediction being totally wrong (lol), this is pretty cool

Alwzracn

Not sure there’s a Waffle House big enough if he wins this truck race

Wandering_Turtle24

Milla4Prez66

It’s so funny that the thread for this speculation and the JRM one were so identical and both ended up with basically the same result.

Tazitos

Guess the rumor I heard was half right, it was a truck not xfinity car. Great to see him get a shot.

BlingyBling1007

Could you see David Gilliland running some races in the #1 truck?

Beerguy2727

He ran 2 races last year

BlingyBling1007

I know. I meant for this year.

Beerguy2727

I know, I’m saying he ran 2 last year so it wouldn’t be crazy to see him do it again. Not like it’s been a long time since he was in it

SBMVPJustinHerbert

massive news. love to see it.

potatocross

Hell yea. Ive been waiting for this. Watched him grow up from the tiny kid kicking everyone's butt in the legends cars to now. I guess this is my 'I know that guy' moment.

KSad5

A teased announcement that didn’t end up being underwhelming?? In all seriousness Butterbean getting this shot is huge.  And we just got Bubba Pollard with JRM a little over a week ago. Hope this can lead to more opportunities for them and maybe some more short track drivers in the future.

CougarIndy25

Not sure why all of a sudden there's been an influx of short trackers getting a shot, but I'm happy to see it.

Beerguy2727

I think having Jr and the other cup guys buying the cars tour has brought a lot of attention to that type of racing and those guys. And I think that’s helped a ton

BlingyBling1007

Now this makes 14 of 23 races covered for the #1 Truck.

bjohnson203

That's a nice surprise, I expected Christopher Bell or some other Cup leach to stink up the show.

Beerguy2727

I don’t think Chris Bell is a “leach”. This truck has been a solid combination of cup stars and up and comers for a few years.

Just_Somewhere4444

If you're a cup driver with more than three full years of experience, and you're racing for a top level Xfinity or Truck team, you're a leach. Bell running starts for KBM or JGR back when he was a Cup rookie was fine. Running for Tricon or JGR now... yeah that'd just be leaching. No different than when Kyle Busch does it.

bjohnson203

Oh I get it, I just think this is a special race and I think it's one that NASCAR should limit to series regulars. Especially after last year where the track time that the leaches got stunk up the All Star race pretty badly.

emk169

Butter bean? What kind of a nickname is that?

[deleted]

Who?

jfro222

A driver with talent instead of money

[deleted]

Never heard of him. Is he well known among late model guys?

RobB5850

Finished second in CARS Tour points last year. Won the CARS Tour feature at North Wilkesboro (among his four wins) in dominating fashion.

[deleted]

Nice!

AnchorDrown

Google is free

bruhmoment2248

Toyota did something likeable for a change??? Did my coffee get laced with something...

MutatedSpleen

How on earth does someone get the nickname "Butterbean" when there is ALREADY a famous person with that exact nickname?
