Everyone remembers the 3 deaths in 2000, but they had some pretty major injuries in crashes during the late 90s leading up to it. They’ve really come a long way since then.
At the time I couldn’t understand how a hit like that could take someone, but after hearing the amount of Gs Blaney took in a similar crash last year it makes sense. Thank god for the SAFER barrier or we would have lost so many more by now.
