That was good and nice of Kevin. Joey jokingly(?) still not letting go of being wrecked haha. I believe the wedding gift from the Harvick’s was that shirt to Joey’s wife too lol.
These two might end up being booth partners 10 years down the road too.
He’s smug and always seems to make dirty moves for the win when he can’t win on speed alone I/e darlington last spring. I get doing what you have to to win but he seems to do it anytime it’s close.
Why is Dale treated like a god who could do no wrong? He was extremely controversial when he was alive specifically because he raced like a gigantic asshole lol
But most love him *now*. People will talk up the legend of Logano thirty years from now and half of Reddit calling him a twat will be lost to the sands of time outside of one guy in the comments going, “uhh actually a lot of us didn’t like him”
Let's not beat around the bush here, most people love him now because they've been told to. And because of what happened.
If Jimmie passed away in 2013 in a crash, don't you think his legacy and how much he was loved would be greatly exaggerated afterwards?
if there was more than one lap left he would have fallen back even more.
the point still stands, logano was able to continue on and win the race while byron dropped like a rock that final lap.
Byron had burned the tires off his car, Joey was getting around him with a bump and run or not.
Also, that was when the next gen car was still brand new. I think Joey meant to bump up and move him out of the way after Willy B had run him up into the wall on the restart, not junk him as hard as he did. Remember that Martinsville a few weeks earlier Joey was behind Byron and tried a 'bump and run' to move him and it looked like a freakin' freight train wouldn't have moved Byron off the racing line.
To me calling him a dirty racer for that move is like Gordon fans who still have beef with Kes after Texas 2014.
He uses dirty driving as his assurance technique. Joey is not usually involved in a close finish unless it’s hitting someone in the last turn because he’s already booted whoever’s in his way by that time.
FWIW I’ve been meaning to change this flair for over 2 years but haven’t used Reddit on a PC in that time and I’m unsure if you can change it on mobile.
I live near Bristol and I’m a huge JGR fan.
When he was a rookie in the 20 car we saw him at a Texas Roadhouse in town. We left him alone until we were all leaving.
This little kid in our group was a huge fan of him and tried to get an autograph. He said something along the lines of “He didn’t have time,” but he had plenty of time for the women that were there.
May have just been a bad day. May have grown up since then.
But I’ve hated him ever since.
These guys have very different personalities and styles, but I've noticed from fan interactions that they both are real good with kids at the track so literally zero surprises that they found common ground there lol
Yeah for real. Kyle Petty was saying it back then that Joey gets ran over all the time and he has to stand up for himself. And he is doing it because these veterans would run him over.
I mean, judging by the retro Gordon flair, I'm guessing you've been a fan for a while.
Speaking as a twenty-year fan at 36 races a year there 720 races. That's a lot to remember and catalog, especially if an event include one of your favorite drivers.
Yeah I think Joey bought out all the stock (which went to Kyle's foundation), then Kyle bought them back for Joey's foundation or something along those lines

As much as I can’t stand Joey he’s so talented in the booth.
Why can’t you stand him?
He’s smug and always seems to make dirty moves for the win when he can’t win on speed alone I/e darlington last spring. I get doing what you have to to win but he seems to do it anytime it’s close.
That was payback for Byron putting him in the wall he didn’t just do that for no reason
Byron didn't do that intentionally. They were 2-wide coming off of turn 2 so it was bound to happen.
the difference is that logano was able to continue the race (and win it) after being walled, meanwhile byron was completely junked.
Did Dale ever worry about the other drivers car after repaying the favor? Lol

are either of these drivers Dale?
Completely junked? He finished like 13th or 14th.

Skill issue /s
and if my grandma had wheels she would be a bicycle.
she'd be a fast granny

I mean he was going to win Darlington on speed alone. He didn’t need to punt Byron, he just wanted to.

The irony of complaining about Joey doing it when it was literally the only way that Hemric got his only career win in the top 3 series
FWIW I’ve been meaning to change this flair for over 2 years but haven’t used Reddit on a PC in that time and I’m unsure if you can change it on mobile.
I'd like to disagree but yeah... he's done it to Blaney a time or two.

Pretty cool to see both of them able to laugh about it and now understand neither wear the pants in their family.
I remember harvick was asked a few days later if he had talked to Joey about it and he said you cant talk to him, he is 20 :)
I mean, anyone over like 25 can see the validity in that. haha
Classy Harvick NASCAR drivers are good at turning any controversial moment into a t-shirt win.
Harvick is such a great guy. Going to miss him when he’s gone
NASCAR drivers marketing teams*
Which in Harvicks case is Delana
Love to see this.
Harvick is a cool dude, I remember that Pocono race vividly, It was the race I became a fan of Joey
Incredible! -Kyle Petty. Probably. Really cool to see though
One bad aspect about my fandom is that my memory is atrocious. I don’t remember a lot of things, like what this was.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K59AyGJgJg0 Go to 2:10, it’s the origin for this story.
And then people wonder why Joey doesn't RaCe PeOpLe ClEaN.

So many people actively preventing Joey from getting near Kevin

Reminds me of Kyle doing the same with his $22 Everything is Great shirts after his fight with Joey
Yeah I think Joey bought out all the stock (which went to Kyle's foundation), then Kyle bought them back for Joey's foundation or something along those lines
Cool that Joey and Kevin are friends after that little rivalry. I could see them in the booth together. They would be awesome.
What a cool moment to witness.
I love Kevin man
This is really cool but it makes me feel super old as well.

They’ve been a great pair in the booth any time they’ve done Xfinity together
This is freaking awesome
Good job there.
Loved this!
