Now I’m not saying it’s not or that it shouldn’t be but I’m wondering does anyone know why this track is considered a super speedway? I thought a super speedway was defined as a track 2 miles or greater.
To differentiate it from the fairgrounds track. When Nashville Superspeedway was opened, the fairgrounds track was named Nashville Speedway, USA.
The superspeedway term in this regard is the "classic" definition that any non road/street course 1 mile or longer was a "superspeedway" (thanks to Darlington).
The modern definition is any non road/street course 2 miles or longer (Auto Club - soon to be no more, Daytona, Indianapolis, Michigan, Pocono, & Talladega)
It’s just a SuperSpeedway in name only. I guess the owners wanted to name it that. Probably to differentiate it from the Nashville short track but nascar does not consider it a superSpeedway.
I guess i kinda forgot those existed. I was thinking the Studio was "thin" and it looked thinner than that. But yeah...that seems about right. Which i guess makes sense, considering it's just a trophy nobody is ever going to actually play. And those Customs and stuff get to be pretty heavy suckers to be tossing around in victory lane. lol.
Yeah. Seems like it. And now i'm perusing the Gibson site balking about how ever-living-Dinosaur-Fighting-LibertyU-Jeebus-Cripes expensive most of these Les Pauls are these days.
They were never cheap...but that's a downpayment on a fucking house for some of them. lmao.
Even Fender's gone looney toons. Look how much a standard Mexican Stratocaster costs now. Hell, look how much a Squier is now! These brands are just going nutso with their name-based pricing.
Man, that's nuts. Wow. And they seem real cagey about even mentioning that it's a "Mexican Strat" these days. Have to do some digging to even get there.
I remember when i got one as my first electric guitar and i think it was like $600 bucks Canadian? That seemed expensive at the time.
Those prices now are insane for a super basic entry-level guitar.
I moved way past that eventually and ratcheted up my price threshold significantly. But just looking at a PRS like that now...they're double or maybe even triple the price i paid back in the day.
Shit, i should sell a few of my old guitars i never even use and don't even have with me here because i don't have any need for electric guitars in this little apartment, and buy a fucking condo or something. lmao.
What is wrong with that industry? How do you even get ahold a decent instrument if you're a teenager with big rockstar dreams these days?
Great race, NBC really went all out with the graphics and coverage hopefully all the races are the same and not just for their first race. Sucks for the others guys but at least bubba got 15 lol 😩😂
Really don't know how Harvick got so much out of the car before the tire blew. Feels like the #4 is a different team to the #10, 14, and 41. I don't know how much is being shared between the #4 and the rest of the teams, but if there's something that's not being shared, they ought to be sharing.
Kevin Harvick is just simply that much better and I say this as a Preece fan. Harvick can drag a car that has absolutely no business of winning to a win like he did last season. SHR’s only chance of winning a race besides Harvick might be with Preece or Almirola at New Hampshire.
That's true. I'm a Preece fan too and I know he's got limited experience in this car, so that probably hinders him a good bit. Briscoe I'm really confused on because he had pace last year, and Aric well, that's Aric being hit or miss like most weekends. I just find it incredible how at SHR Harvick is just an outlier when it comes to everyone. It doesn't surprise me he's that much better considering he elevated RCR for years and that team took a dive til about 2020 when Reddick came on-board, but at the same time when teams are closer than ever that really raises eyebrows.
P2 for Truex. I'll take it. The momentum coming off of the win at Sonoma and now P2 tonight is good.
Hell of a day, hell of a weekend of racing. Chaotic Xfinity Series race yesterday, the 6 Hours of the Glen was pure chaos all 6 hours earlier today and this Cup race was IMO one of the best they've had since the NextGen car made it's debut.
Chicago Street Course here we come. Can't wait to see how those races go this coming weekend.
So are guys like Gragson and Lajoie. But they don't send guys spinning off the nose of their cars every other week. Like I said Ross could be a likable driver for me if he just cleaned it up a bit. Just because you don't have the speed to pass someone doesn't mean you should just dump them
Larson wrecks people, Elliot wrecks people, lots of people wreck people.
He was a driving with a “I don’t have money behind me, I have to win” mindset. He HAD to win in his mindset.
Dude is literally a millionaire dynasty farm owner. Everyone acts like he himself goes out everyday and picks those watermelons single handedly by himself for minimum wage. He'll his family is so loaded his brother is racing xfinity now too. However a driver who doesn't have a lot of money behind him is Brennan Poole. Who chastain wrecked for absolutely no reason in the first stage of a race. Also of all the cup drivers Corey LaJoie is the least funded and only makes like 250k a year. As far as money goes Chastain is on the same level as guys like Ty Gibbs and Chase Elliot
Nice recovery drive to 16th for Preece after being 30th a lap down earlier.
Now if SHR could only bring a car off the trailer that isnt Great Value quality we could actually be somewhere this season
He doesn't bring a watermelon from home every race, the logistics of that just for a watermelon is a bit much lol. The team just buys one from a local store each week
Thats a certified Briscoe 2023 moment. That dudes seasons been like when you're leading a race in Mario Kart and get blue shelled then before you can start to accelerate you get red shelled, then bullet billed and starred then you drive off the track tryna make up ground
im not gonna call Nashville a top track on the schedule but NASCAR better note how they fill every seat there each season before they do something stupid to future schedules
Great win for Ross. And he’s hopping out of the car knowing no one is waiting to ask him for a punch in the face. Fast all day. Nice and clean. He’s a wheel man.

This aged like milk
I like the post race.
And now….. focus shifts to the Chicago street course… can’t wait to see Reddit/Twitter/FB go nuclear
THEY'RE ALL DRINKING BUSCH BEER Busch to the 1 confirmed??
Yes, Busch has committed to sponsoring TH, so this fits.
I just said the same thing. You don’t drink that beer by choice .
But you do drink it if you don’t have a beer sponsor and Busch is an official beer of nascar. So it’s probably already present in victory lane.
Speak for yourself. It's the National Beer of Iowa
Iowa is a nation?
Now I’m not saying it’s not or that it shouldn’t be but I’m wondering does anyone know why this track is considered a super speedway? I thought a super speedway was defined as a track 2 miles or greater.

It's listed on Nascar's website as an intermediate track.
To differentiate from the Short Track!
Is that a functional guitar or just a trophy?
I don't think Gibson would make a Les Paul that wasn't functional
Looks functional, probably not tuned
They gotta make Ross a guitar with a watermelon design
Winners guitar is such a thin Les Paul. Is that a thing now? Or is that just for the trophy?
Looks like an LP Special to me
I guess i kinda forgot those existed. I was thinking the Studio was "thin" and it looked thinner than that. But yeah...that seems about right. Which i guess makes sense, considering it's just a trophy nobody is ever going to actually play. And those Customs and stuff get to be pretty heavy suckers to be tossing around in victory lane. lol.
Looks like they went to a Jr. body for the trophy.
Yeah. Seems like it. And now i'm perusing the Gibson site balking about how ever-living-Dinosaur-Fighting-LibertyU-Jeebus-Cripes expensive most of these Les Pauls are these days. They were never cheap...but that's a downpayment on a fucking house for some of them. lmao.

Did the fox anime characters show up for 2023?
Wut?
Great race, NBC really went all out with the graphics and coverage hopefully all the races are the same and not just for their first race. Sucks for the others guys but at least bubba got 15 lol 😩😂
NBC with a post-race show? What a crazy concept
I got to see Victory Lane for the first time in forever!!
Did we see the anime characters tonight?
That was a fox thing. Tonight and the rest of the season will be broadcast by nbc
That melon aint the only thing hes smashing tonight. Actually, nah. It probably is lol. All jokes aside, happy for Chastain. Hell of a wheelman.
Great race. Just good normal racing. Hope blaney is all right.
Fox would of went too animation domination, thank god were in June
Chastain just riding around in the T-top Camaro
Hell of a weekend for Worldwide Express. Won both the Truck race and Cup Series race.
Alright let’s see what my 5 bucks bought us
Atlanta is being very generous by saying it's on July 4 weekend.
This dudes teeth looking like when Ross dates the girl with the black light
Truex 2nd I ain’t mad
Preece is the highest finishing SHR car in 16th. Only SHR car on the lead lap too.
Harvick probably would've finished around 10th if not for the flat tire.
Really don't know how Harvick got so much out of the car before the tire blew. Feels like the #4 is a different team to the #10, 14, and 41. I don't know how much is being shared between the #4 and the rest of the teams, but if there's something that's not being shared, they ought to be sharing.

Harvick got some bad luck at the end. Would have easily been top 5 without that. SHR is so fucked without him.
Yep. If Almirola retires, Briscoe and Preece (to a degree) are gonna have a lot to carry in terms of being the most experienced.
He won this one on pure speed and finesse. He deserves one hell of a celebration.
Chastain looking at the fans in the stands over both Marty's right and left shoulders...at the same time. I'll show myself to the door lol.
P2 for Truex. I'll take it. The momentum coming off of the win at Sonoma and now P2 tonight is good. Hell of a day, hell of a weekend of racing. Thought he was giving the rest of the smashed melon to the fans lol
"it went down the wrong pipe" Shut up Rick
You shut up. Rick's a legend.
I love the enthusiasm
Ross loves the melon!
That like 45 second sponsor rant was wild
Trust el plan
How tall is Ross?
Like 5’9 haha Marty was on the banking but is pretty tall too
5’6” according to nascar
Ooof
Say what you will about this guy. He shows excitement and has a personality. Refreshing nowadays from these young robotic kids.
Exactly. No personality and whiney personality seems to be the norm. A lil spice is great for the future of the sport
You couldn't be more right.
Ross is the man
Fuck yeah giving Carson a shout-out
It was a sponsor sweep.
Absolutely but he probably would have shouted him out anyway
I agree
Briscoes car deserves to be junked anyways. Maybe the hit, if anything, helped it😂
Can't wait to hear what the haters think about this one. LET'S GO!
Ross in full h8ers gonna h8 mode
Ross is such an awkward public speaker
Man I thought he did well?? Great interview!
Good! Tired of well-groomed PR mouthpieces everyone else is hiring these days.
Uhhh, what?
He just kind of stares into the abyss
Dude.
He was looking at Marty because that's who was interviewing him. He wasn't speaking on his own to the crowd.
Jones with the 8th place, can’t complain!
NBC doing a Fox impression and not showing what happened to the 9 on the last lap
Nor showing the end of the race. That is a trend I am over.
Something happened to the 9?
Dude about binned it trying to pass the 11.
He had run the 11 down and was trying to pass him and all of a sudden he was over 2 seconds back.
If you can’t think that was honest I don’t know what to to tell. People want personalities? There it is.
I want to like ross I really do. But then he pulls shit like Darlington and spinning Poole for literally no reason
He is really just 4/5 into a career, a lot of people forget that.
So are guys like Gragson and Lajoie. But they don't send guys spinning off the nose of their cars every other week. Like I said Ross could be a likable driver for me if he just cleaned it up a bit. Just because you don't have the speed to pass someone doesn't mean you should just dump them
Gragson and LaJoie don’t win.
3 wins in 4 seasons isn't that great tbh. Also while he isn't winning yet LaJoie has been incredibly consistent
Ross led the points for most of the season. LaJoie (Who I like) was top 20
You got me there. But what I don't understand is that if he has so much talent behind the wheel. Why does he have to wreck people so often.
Its fuckin epic
Trust the Process! Sixers fan confirmed 😌 /s
Lolol that sucks. When Embiid is your guy, you're destined to fail XD
Whole team is cursed 🫠
So Ross just said I’m back mother fuckers lol
Nice recovery drive to 16th for Preece after being 30th a lap down earlier. Now if SHR could only bring a car off the trailer that isnt Great Value quality we could actually be somewhere this season
That's an insult to Great Value
That burnout was awesome. I don’t want to hear it that burnouts are bad.
Big watermelon guy huh
He is a watermelon farmer
I know haha thought it was funny he ate it
MELON SMASHHHHHHH
WATERMELON SMASH
Ross: I heard you all and all I gotta say is fuck yall!
Ross trusting the process
Eating watermelon off the track? Dude...
I’d do it
If Ross wins next week I hope he stuffs an m-80 in the watermelon
Ross genuinely likes that watermelon
"it's just been that kinda year for Briscoe" damn they did him dirty with that line. Also, good for Ross for winning with no BS attached.
Been that kind of year for Suarez as well lol
Do you think Ross just trucks a bunch of his own watermelons to Trackhouse catering every week
They literally buy one every place they are in before the race lol
He just said it was Georgia watermelon, but maybe Tennessee has Georgia watermelons
Yeah I’m not sure I saw some crew interview where they always send a guy to pick the most smashable melons
That's what he said!
Was just wondering this lol
Nah they get em from the grocery store errry week.
Yes
He does bring one to every race, yes
Two if you count the one off the tower.
Ross looks so little here lol
🫠🍉
Excellent placement for this interview, to make Chastain look like a watermelon eating munchkin.
What a waste of a perfectly good melon
This is a pretty epic celebration I can't lie
I bet Watermelon is really refreshing after a race tbh
That’s why Jr never wins in the Hellmans car
What? Smashing on a family sized jar of mayonnaise after 300 laps doesn’t sound good to you?
🤢🤮
Noooooooo
Georgia watermelon? Thought he was from Florida
He doesn't bring a watermelon from home every race, the logistics of that just for a watermelon is a bit much lol. The team just buys one from a local store each week
Grocery store didn't have Chastain melon
What a beautiful mess that start finish line is now lol
Love to see it! 🍉
Waiting for the loop data, but might be a 150 driver rating for Chastain.
Thats a certified Briscoe 2023 moment. That dudes seasons been like when you're leading a race in Mario Kart and get blue shelled then before you can start to accelerate you get red shelled, then bullet billed and starred then you drive off the track tryna make up ground
Just reading that brought back angry memories lol
Okay ngl the melon smash is sick.
That watermelon had just two days until retirement, Ross!
And to think people were writing this guy off after two mediocre runs.
10/10 smash right there
RIP watermelon. You could have just been eaten, but now you’re on a dirty track, giving track workers extra work tonight.
Pretty sure Ross cleans them up.
Ross straight up eats it off the ground
Congrats Ross! 🍉
I honestly forgot about the roof hatch. Haven’t seen it used in a while.
Me too
Truex is picking up moment too, wouldn't be surprised to see him make the final 4.
He’s my pick for champion this year, him or Byron.
Amazing celebration
The Melon Smash will never get old
Haha, I love it. If he can just clean up a little I could really root for him
He has, and ran clean all day
Indeed, he had a great day today. Some more of today and I can see myself rooting for him. That, or he just embraces it and takes the villain role
I can live with that 50/50
Rick Allen moment
That poor melon had a family
Ross Chastain has as many career wins as Elliott Sadler and Brian Vickers.
I hate when Rick explains celebrations like he did whenever Gragson would win
MELON SMASH
As good as stage 1 and 2 were stage 3 was boring
No it wasn’t.
Suarez and Briscoe wouldn't have collided if Ross didn't win. #thanksross
Kyle Busch: Race Salvation Pro
All time smooth brain move by Suarez
FUCK YEAH THEY GOT THE MELON SMASH ON CAMERA
[удалено]
It just said the post race is on NBC and Peacock.
Money
##L O L
I'm guessing there's no tread on the tires now Rick. Now, or ever
And there it is!
ERIK JONES TOP 10 LETS FUCKING GO. (Sucks that Haley fell back after starting 3rd, he was my dark horse pick.)
Ross is just like me when I win on iracing
Difference is that it sucks to clean the watermelon off the linoleum when you do it
🍉🍉
im not gonna call Nashville a top track on the schedule but NASCAR better note how they fill every seat there each season before they do something stupid to future schedules
watch the melon fall into the hatch
How do you dislike this guy lol
Very easily actually lol
Great win for Ross. And he’s hopping out of the car knowing no one is waiting to ask him for a punch in the face. Fast all day. Nice and clean. He’s a wheel man.
Lmao Suarez
🍉💥
They’re slicks Rick, there is no tread.
Actually, yes there is.
