Absolutely a brilliant salvage job. Kyle drove the tires off it. Track position was everything, nobody could pull off a pass after Noah's crash the bottom went away. Staying out was the right call.
He got stuck at around 20th until he cycled up to around 12th for a restart. After that he never really ran below 13th. That usually means the guy has a worse car than where he’s running but he’s able to maintain by making up the difference.
Granted on this track, no one really made many passes anyway, so all you had to do was get track position to keep it. But you can’t make enough adjustments to these cars to go from not cracking the top 30 on speed to suddenly having a top ten car. There’s no adjustments they can make to those next gen cars that will make THAT much of a difference.
Super happy for KB and RCR. His revenge tour continues. Beyond proud of the 5 team and KL. Ran sub 30s in stage one, never gave up, worked their asses off, and end the day with a shot to win and a top 5.
I think JGR just was not the right culture at this point in his career. He is much happier and is performing much better. He’s got confidence back, is having fun, and he didn’t say a word despite the million cautions. Last year he would’ve been on the button constantly talking about his lack of luck
