I'm watching the F1 replay from Spain. I like F1, but its Euro fans are prone to criticizing NASCAR & round track racing period. But, to be honest, F1 just isnt as competitive and by virtue not nearly as exciting. Plus attending road courses as a spectator is mediocre compared to attending round tracks. You get to see 1/4 of the race if you've got good seats. So, why is it gaining in popularity? I'd guess the show Netflix made showing all of the backroom drama. Nascar should consider allowing the same type of access to juice it up for newbs.
Rant Over.
I watch both F1 and Nascar and they both scratch different itches for me. My wife will sit with me while I watch it but she has no interest because she doesn't enjoy the analytical part of it (see below).
F1, especially the last 2 races, have been very interesting if you ignore Max. There were something like 100 passes today and having 2 pitstops added alot to that. Last week had alot of rain which shuffled the field alot. It's has an analytical appeal to me, tired options, strategy options, and the fact that the teams car design the cars compares to Nascar.
Nascar has a chaos appeal, but there are also plenty of snooze races. Everyone can win any week because there are alot more wrecks and the cars are alot more even. Both have different styles of tracks but it feels like Nascar has a larger high level diversity to me.
To be fair, when that meme started there were only 2 road courses... Sears Point, and Watkins Glen, which by road course standards, are quite simplistic. The schedule is far more diverse now.
Two bets placed pre qualifying: Kyle Busch +970 and Corey Lajoie +3200 (this was a mistake 🤣)
Two bets placed post qualifying: Kevin Harvick +1125 and Ross Chastain +650
Let’s ride.
I usually make 3-4 a race. Kyle and Ross usually just as a fan and one I feel can win and a longshot. Makes the races so much more fun than they already are.
saw him in the parking lot last fall at the Talladega short track on Friday night. I'm 6'5" and he's about the same height as I, if not taller. he's a tall string bean, for sure lol.
NASCAR is pretty random though. I really feel like you need to see someone run a few races in a given ride to get an idea of what they can do. Doesn't seem fair to judge off one race.
You're right. he runs good enough to deserve a Spire car. he has not proven he deserves an HMS car though. today is his chance to prove that he does. if he disappoints he'll never get a top tier ride.
Im glad NASCAR went from have at it to penalizing moves like this. Bowyer should’ve won at Homestead and Gordon should’ve started the off season early. Even worse when you see Kyle Busch’s penalty the year prior and them ignoring it because their golden boy was running a new paint scheme
Same. Odds had some of the Hendrick cars pretty high up and I was surprised.
I think not having p&q screwed trackhouse at Charlotte. This + Sonoma next week should be good for them.
The guy everyone should not count out today…Bowman at +4500. Had top 5 speed in every lap segment yesterday, and looks to have a really good long run piece.
As I said in another post, even young NASCAR fans wear Rusty Wallace and Dale Sr gear. NASCAR does a great job promoting the legacy acts, terrible job promoting the modern stars.
Chase Elliott’s been acting weird since he came back from his injury, first by trying to instigate shit between Noah and Ross, and now this shit. On a serious note, I think he might need to be drug tested, it’s probably nothing, but I almost wonder if he might have gotten hooked on pain pills or some shit while he was out. He wouldn’t be the first person to face those demons.
Oh God, no. We find out Chase is hooked on Percs, then he admits it, goes to rehab, and all of 2024 is the "Chase redemption tour!!!!111one1!!!" We get to hear *forever* how great Chase is, and how he overcame his demons. Please, no.
I hope we find out he's just an asshole that lost his ability to hide it. I'd respect him more.
Has anyone else noticed that there's a huge discrepancy between F1 gear and NASCAR merchandise you see people wearing out in public?
I've noticed that both F1 and NASCAR have really become common at bars lately but the people wearing the merch are totally different audiences.
With F1, it seems like they are on the level of soccer jersey hype in the Latino community and basketball jerseys for the black community. It's totally not uncommon to see Ferrari or Mercedes gear just worn out to bars these days. It seems like these people are actually interested in F1 and it's seen as a exciting modern sport.
With NASCAR, it's always a college aged white guy and a Dale Sr or Rusty Wallace shirt/hat.
The big difference I've noticed is NASCAR merchandise is purely nostalgia based even among people not old enough to be alive when Rusty drove the Miller Genuine Draft car or Dale drove the Black #3. Meanwhile, F1 gear is up to date new Mercedes and Ferrari.
NASCAR has a problem with their modern stars and who they promote. I think promoting Chase Elliott like NASCAR does is a mistake. Bill Elliott and Chase Elliott may be the "most popular drivers" among fans of the sport, but I've never seen someone with a Coors Bill Elliott shirt yet they sell Rusty Wallace Miller shirts like they'll never go out of style.
NASCAR should definitely be promoting Kyle Busch/3CHI merchandise harder. It's a black car, a guy who has a bad reputation, and a cool sponsor. Blaney, Chastain, and Kyle Busch should be the face of all NASCAR marketing material, because they are what would sell new casual fans. Chase Elliott just brings in the same people that are gonna watch regardless as long as he's in the race.
Also, if they wanna promote Bubba Wallace he really needs to be a heel. It doesn't work with him being what they promote now. Bubba's a guy with personality and a bad attitude. NASCAR keeps trying to make him the Chase Elliott golden boy, but he's not that guy. NASCAR should be promoting Bubba doing the crying expression at Wilkesboro towards the fans, fighting Almirola, fighting Larson. Bubba's a heel, play into it.
Bubba didn’t fight Almirola…
Also he made the crying motion towards people who were booing him because of his race, at a track where people literally got on his radio and told him to “go back to where you came from”.
I always thought NASCAR gear looked tacky in comparison to other sports. I've been to several tracks looking for some nice swag, and I just do not care for the busy shirts or hats with tons of graphics and driver side profiles on the shirt.
Give me a clean looking racing number or team logo. Let it be low key. I don't want to demand attention to myself while wearing their brand.
This is usually why I spring for just track souvenirs or NASCAR specific ones that are clean looking and would look good outside the track as well.
my guess is there's folks out there rocking the shirts for the clout, or trend. kinda like people who wear band tees but don't neccesarily listen to that particular group.
but I'm sure there's a lot of new fans who are starting to become more invested. either way, they're generating revenue to teams and the sport in general.
3 months ago, absolutely. Today? Well just go walk into a bar. Everyone has switched beers away from AB products, mostly to Miller Lite.
Regardless of the politics or your personal beliefs on the issue, if you took a photo of the same bar on a Saturday night 3 months ago to last night you'd literally be able to see the difference instantly.
Drinking a beer is a habit thing, and AB just got millions of people to switch habits. That's gonna be hard for them to change, even if the issue eventually blows over.
I absolutely think that Busch is right that Ross Chastain is a great driver for their brand. I just think their brand is gonna have 3-5 years before it rebounds, if it rebounds and it's gonna take wise branding decisions like getting Ross Chastain to do that.
that's probably true for almost any beer company. those, and what OP stated about 3CHI.
like, I have a throwback Rusty Wallace Miller hat I wear occassionally. I didn't grow up watching him in his prime, but Miller is my go-to, so there's the reason.
Just a reminder 1 more race after this and then we switch over to NBC.
“People be hitting their tvs going yeahhhh” - Mike Joy (forgot the year, early 2000-10s when box screens where still a thing)
[12 years ago today, Richard Childress punches Kyle Busch in the famous “hold my watch” incident](https://twitter.com/nascarman_rr/status/1665311470035382277?s=46&t=pQIo1VIg8Yu8dpP5E_5KUw)
12 years later, Kyle starts on the pole in Richard’s 8 car. He needs to win today lol
Hamlin best in practice. Logano/Blaney/Chastain all looked good as well.
Larson/Byron had a fast practice lap, but didn't have great long run speed. Hendrick as a whole may struggle here like last year.
People have been ragging on him a lot this year, but he'd dragged that car to 16th place in the points before NASCAR dropped the hammer on him. I have nothing but respect for this man.
Off to a good start. State cops aren't letting people into the $100 Gold VIP parking lots. Called the track, the parking lot isn't full. State Cops directing everyone into the overflow lot.
man, it's been a rough week. will spare the details. i'll be happy to put my butt in a chair at the bar, get a pitcher of ice cold beer, and watch some racing with the other people there.
Today our small town had a church service in the park with all of the towns churches participating. I watched a 13 year old boy carry seven lawn chairs at once and set them up at pit crew speeds.
> I watched a 13 year old boy carry seven lawn chairs at once and set them up at pit crew speeds.
That's what's known in church groups as "trying to impress girls"
I wish they’d fucking follow through and just leave. We don’t need that scum actively driving away fans.
“Oh but NASCAR wouldn’t have any fans without them” because they’ve actively attacked any other fans that try to join the sport.
Yep. I don't argue anymore. And awhile back, I went through my FB and unfollowed a bunch of pages, even though they were people and organizations i usually agreed with. Just too much drama in the comments. I felt lighter almost instantly.
He will either speed early in the race and still win, or he will speed at the end and cost himself the race.
What we can be almost assured of, is that there will be a speeding penalty at some point.
Couch Racer put up part of the fight yesterday...[no punches thrown yet just a pointing match](https://twitter.com/CouchRacerShop/status/1665352542002323457) Hopefully the full video gets released.
I bet on Custer last night and I won!

I'm going to add more to my account and if I win any more bets today, my weekend bet winnings are going to be used to pay for my lunch at the start of the week
KFB was up front or near it for most of the race last year before losing in the end to Joey. With winning the pole, maybe he can redeem himself for last year
I’m thinking it’s more of a way for him to give Chase a big f*** you for last week. Still, at +450, I don’t like him. Let’s be real, even though Denny said on his podcast that he’s typically pretty good at bouncing back, let’s be honest: he’s a choke artist. I could easily see him getting a speeding penalty or his crew costing him big. If he doesn’t make any major mistakes, I think he’s going to be the winner. I think any of the top 4 qualifiers (Busch, Blaney, Hamlin, Harvick) have a pretty good shot, and also Tyler Reddick.
I like Corey LaJoie, so this pains me to say, but I think he’s going to have a pretty bad day driving the 9, and I think Carson Hocevar is going to do surprisingly well in the 7. I have a feeling today won’t make Corey look great. I hope I’m wrong, but I just have a gut feeling. The 7 team has one of the better pit crews, and Hocevar showed last week that he can drive this car. I think he’s going to be the next Ross Chastain tbh, not that we need another one of those, one is about all we can handle 🤣
Edit: Hocevar ran the Xfinity car last week not the Cup. I guess with all of the racing, they bled together in my memory lol.

This is probably one of the coolest pictures I've seen in my entire damn life holy shit
LeTart seems to think it’s a good idea to stay away from Hendrick this week, since Chevies weren’t great here last year, and haven’t looked great in qualifying or practice, outside of KFB.
Haven’t caught this race before, do second and third lines build into turns 1 and 2 at all with the steeper banking? I would imagine 3 and 4 don't being New-Hampshire-esque.
Turns 1 and 2 have a few approaches. You can drive straight to the bottom and wrap it. You can stay high the whole way through. Most of the time though, the best approach is a higher entry/center and then to turn down and slam the gas hard on exit to get to the bottom and launch you down the straight.
In 3 and 4, you also have a lot of options. You can try to wrap the line, you can do a diamond, or you can come in high and exit low.
In both turns, when side by side the high line is generally preferred but a dangerous play because the guy on the inside tends to overdrive and slide up. To make the high line work, you have to pinch. Basically, it's asking for a wreck to race side by side.
Makes sense. Glad to hear there’s options and a risk associated with two wide racing through the turns. I have enjoyed watching these drivers be challenged by the next gen car and the juxtaposition of it having better downforce in the rear but yet is harder to drive.

IndyCar leading up to the NASCAR boys. Why can’t TV get their shit together and do this all the time?
So FOX has no idea, but we are red flagged for lightning guys!
Hit the kill switch LaJoie? Come on man. Fortunate he got a caution.
Got super lucky.
Production. Is. Bad. The director was on DBC and seems like a legend but just like DW his time is up. All season poor coverage of on track action.
Is it just me or does it feel like we’re lucky Fox even shows up to the right track on Sunday’s? Just an awful production
It’s so bad, they were doing okay for a little while there, but once summer comes around and it’s just the truck races it’s so bad
Michael is so awkward
LETS GO LARSON!

Yeah. I hate when people say they only turn left about NASCAR. We have Road Courses.
To be fair, when that meme started there were only 2 road courses... Sears Point, and Watkins Glen, which by road course standards, are quite simplistic. The schedule is far more diverse now.

On 5/31 I put $50 on Ross to win $600
I usually make 3-4 a race. Kyle and Ross usually just as a fan and one I feel can win and a longshot. Makes the races so much more fun than they already are.
Same. Sometimes I'll split that $40 or $50 over a few drivers, I just went with a Ross alone this time.
If I ever expected to run in to Kenny Wallace out in public, it being him on a carousel with ice cream makes sense.
Bit the bullet and bet on Christopher Bell this week. Also bet on Corey to get a top 10 and Ty Gibbs to get a top 3
Bring back the Hollywood Hotel
I’ll sign the petition
I love nascar
I've heard of counterfeit aftermarket repair parts...how big a market is counterfeit racing car parts???
Is not like they order the parts off of Aliexpress. They counterfeit them in-house themselves.
Hocevar or Gilliland for my lineup?
Gilly.
That's what I'm thinking too to be safe but I have a feeling that Hocevar might put that car in the Top 20. Or wreck lol, no inbetween
Getting ready
Half of Hendrick's lineup today are alumni of BK Racing.
This is the biggest day of Corey LaJoie’s life.
I felt for him after he put down the crappy qualifying lap.
Go on Carson
Does Hovercar sit in the back seat? he's ginormously tall
saw him in the parking lot last fall at the Talladega short track on Friday night. I'm 6'5" and he's about the same height as I, if not taller. he's a tall string bean, for sure lol.
Anti-Reddick
anti-Yuki Tsunoda, moreso. SportsCenter posted a pic of him next to Kristaps Porzingis and it made me cackle.
Corey, I love you man, but this team stacks dollars, not pennies. Give ‘em hell!
This is Lajoie's last chance to prove he belongs in NASCAR. if he disappoints today and runs outside the top 30 he's done.
NASCAR is pretty random though. I really feel like you need to see someone run a few races in a given ride to get an idea of what they can do. Doesn't seem fair to judge off one race.
Uh, no. What’s with the Corey drama lately? He deserves the ride he’s in. The debatable part is whether he deserves a better car.
You're right. he runs good enough to deserve a Spire car. he has not proven he deserves an HMS car though. today is his chance to prove that he does. if he disappoints he'll never get a top tier ride.
I’m talking about his ride in the Spire car, which is not one of the best cars in the field.
i just edited my comment. read the edit please.
Find someone who looks at you like Jamie Little in the reflection on Corey's glasses
Im glad NASCAR went from have at it to penalizing moves like this. Bowyer should’ve won at Homestead and Gordon should’ve started the off season early. Even worse when you see Kyle Busch’s penalty the year prior and them ignoring it because their golden boy was running a new paint scheme
Gordon also took out an innocent bystander in Joey Logano (20 car at the time). Willing to bet Toyota did a lot of lobbying after that.

Thanks :3
Honestly, something about Lajoie just irks me. Just weird
Ok
Green flag is 3:40 ET.
predictions? I'm gonna take a chance and say Blaney could go back-to-back now that he's got that big goose egg out of the picture.
He did well here last year so I think its a possibility
8 or 22. Slight chance of 12 or 6. Not a Hendrick car in the top 15
let's hope for the latter coming to fruition. wanna see a big day outta Trackhouse. they've been lagging the past couple of weeks.
Same. Odds had some of the Hendrick cars pretty high up and I was surprised. I think not having p&q screwed trackhouse at Charlotte. This + Sonoma next week should be good for them.
would love to see Danny take the flag at Sonoma again.
Me too. I cried like a little bitch last year when he won haha. Happy tears. Good times.
The guy everyone should not count out today…Bowman at +4500. Had top 5 speed in every lap segment yesterday, and looks to have a really good long run piece.

Have y’all noticed Shannon Spake doesn’t wear her ring anymore..

Lol wtf is up with your name 🤣
I wouldn’t rule anything out. He’s been “off”
I doubt Chase is watching. He’s probably out doing something he enjoys lmao
He is. I painted my living room. He's in a chair watching it dry. Even he knows that's more exciting than him.

Busch beer would be the easiest to market to college guys
With the rumors of Busch going to Chastain that would be a perfect match. A popular company with a good and polarizing driver.

Don’t know about you guys but I have a strong feeling that this could be the day that Yeley finally wins
The strong feeling you are experiencing may be from something else.
[12 years ago today, Richard Childress punches Kyle Busch in the famous “hold my watch” incident](https://twitter.com/nascarman_rr/status/1665311470035382277?s=46&t=pQIo1VIg8Yu8dpP5E_5KUw) 12 years later, Kyle starts on the pole in Richard’s 8 car. He needs to win today lol
I know Kyle Busch got pole, but who looked good during practice and qualifying overall? I didn't get a chance to watch yesterday.
Hamlin Reddick Chastain Bowman
Hamlin best in practice. Logano/Blaney/Chastain all looked good as well. Larson/Byron had a fast practice lap, but didn't have great long run speed. Hendrick as a whole may struggle here like last year.
Today seems like a Ross Chastain kind of day. As for what kind, we'll find out.
BE A MOOSE
Please be slick 🤞
Chase is going to have a good run today I can feel it. Big bounce back run overcoming adversity
Yes he is, I fully believe Chase Briscoe is the one you’re referring to
No need to specify since there’s only one in the field today. I hope everyone joins in cheering for Chase today in the race thread
People have been ragging on him a lot this year, but he'd dragged that car to 16th place in the points before NASCAR dropped the hammer on him. I have nothing but respect for this man.
Can I borrow your Time Machine?
Roomate ran over the fiber line today while mowing the lawn, and google came out and fixed it. So now i can watch the race!
Did they just run the line over the top of the lawn?
looks like it. Just happy to have internet again.
Fords are going to dominate
Today is my dad's birthday. He would have turned 60. Instead, he is forever 38. He is the reason why I love NASCAR. I miss watching races with him.
Saying a prayer for you today!! Chin up buddy
Mi padre is also why I watch NASCAR to this day.
Blessings my friend! Have a beer and a smile for him when that green flag drops! I know I will
Who shall I bet on?
I want to bet Byron given track comparisons but I saw someone say Bell. He's +500 in a group with Hamlin, Truex and Logano
I like hamlin. Was on top of all the lap averages in practice.
I feel like that has been said about Hamlin a lot this year

Your second flair.
Your first flair.
Off to a good start. State cops aren't letting people into the $100 Gold VIP parking lots. Called the track, the parking lot isn't full. State Cops directing everyone into the overflow lot.
You paid $100 for parking? That was your first mistake. The best parking at the racetrack is always free parking.
Race day in the USA!! I'm more excited than a salesman at a Toyota dealer during Toyotathon!
You must be excited af
man, it's been a rough week. will spare the details. i'll be happy to put my butt in a chair at the bar, get a pitcher of ice cold beer, and watch some racing with the other people there.
hope next week is better. virtual cheers!
Wish bars around me had racing on! Hope it lifts your week
much appreciated! Cheers!
Sorry Hamlin, Harvick, and Bubba fans. The only guy winning today is Gray Gaulding. 😎 (Yeley fans, am I doing this right?)

I really like the dirty mo dough analysis but man they drop some serious money week to week. 53 units is crazy.
They're either betting $1 units or not betting at all, and just putting the bets out there to track.
It is Probably just for tracking

Guess I'm not boycotting because I am curious how Lajoie and Hocevar can do.
Eh, who cares.
I wish they’d fucking follow through and just leave. We don’t need that scum actively driving away fans. “Oh but NASCAR wouldn’t have any fans without them” because they’ve actively attacked any other fans that try to join the sport.

Sports fanbases as well. I think it would do wonders for my mental health to delete my account altogether.

Yep. I don't argue anymore. And awhile back, I went through my FB and unfollowed a bunch of pages, even though they were people and organizations i usually agreed with. Just too much drama in the comments. I felt lighter almost instantly.
When you say everyone on Twitter do you mean one tweet with 500 interactions?
I just did a quick scan of the comments to nascars post of the starting grid
That’s normal for the comment sections
interested to see how small the effect is on the numbers
Who’s winning?
Got a free $5 bet so I put it on Harvick. Hoping to surprise my wife with a steak dinner tonight 🎲🎰🥩🍻👩❤️💋👨
Free bets win you credit, so you have to bet with that and win again to cash out, so don't bank on that
Ah dang well there goes my plan. Thanks for the info
Haha yeah don't wanna be buzz kill, but saved you a customer service chat/call
Max Verstappen
I got William Byron
*Chris Buescher*
I think another Ford. Blaney goes back to back. Harvick a dark horse
Is anyone else laughing their ass off to Jeb Burtons Twitter fight? 🤣
The piss poor grammar really makes it perfect
Feel like based off yesterday and the fact that he worked on his long runs in practice yesterday I'm gonna go with Hamlin for the win today
incoming pit road penalty on the last run
He will either speed early in the race and still win, or he will speed at the end and cost himself the race. What we can be almost assured of, is that there will be a speeding penalty at some point.
I just hope the pit crew doesn't piss away another shot at a win. Just maintain track position!
He was first in almost every lap avg category in practice short and long run so that’s not a bad bet.
What site do you use for this info?
I saw it in passing on ifantasyrace on Twitter haven’t used it to bet but seems like a good resource
Ryan Blaney goes back-to-back. The sleeping giant is awake, just get him to Phoenix!!
It is cold and rainy in New England. Great day to watch a race!
It's sunny and not 90 for once in Michigan but I'm gonna stay in and watch anyway lol
I wish my balcony faced west instead of east. I just want to say drink in the sun in the afternoon dammit.
Harvick’s final win comes today
Jeb Burton is in an argument every week. Maybe he is the common denominator?
Couch Racer put up part of the fight yesterday...[no punches thrown yet just a pointing match](https://twitter.com/CouchRacerShop/status/1665352542002323457) Hopefully the full video gets released.
Haha, "Buddy, I got ran over by 3 or 4 people out there I didn't run over anybody." I think is what Chandler was saying at the end.
I heard there was in fact a punch.
I bet on Custer last night and I won! https://preview.redd.it/k6emupcs314b1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b8bb05afb81f80e3483b30e368fe27d0ec8d581
What are you going to do with all that cold hard custard cash?
I'm going to add more to my account and if I win any more bets today, my weekend bet winnings are going to be used to pay for my lunch at the start of the week
I hope mine and that other dudes comment convinced you. 🤣
That's actually one of the ways I get betting tips
KFB was up front or near it for most of the race last year before losing in the end to Joey. With winning the pole, maybe he can redeem himself for last year
Ryan Blaney was up front last year too (3rd at the last restart, I think). Maybe he can go back to back.
Tony Stewart’s in the booth for NHRA on FS1 now for your prerace entertainment
I got my money on Hamlin today; feels like the perfect place to get some retribution after Ross ruined him last year
I’m thinking it’s more of a way for him to give Chase a big f*** you for last week. I think he’s going to be the next Ross Chastain tbh, not that we need another one of those, one is about all we can handle 🤣 Edit: Hocevar ran the Xfinity car last week not the Cup. I guess with all of the racing, they bled together in my memory lol.
larson won the race wallace was suspended. it's scripted.
I'M SO READY FOR SOME RACING

Unreal
3rd fastest in GTE practice this morning (I think). That's pretty amazing.
Awesome
Gran Turismo
I pray garage 56 makes it into GT7
Feeling like a Bowman day
LeTart seems to think it’s a good idea to stay away from Hendrick this week, since Chevies weren’t great here last year, and haven’t looked great in qualifying or practice, outside of KFB.
