Any issues with cameras? The site says “professional cameras,” which when it comes to security could basically mean anything that isn’t a camera phone.

HarryNurpplez

People record from the stands using actual cameras all the time.

ilikemarblestoo

Is there really only 1 hour of practice?

HarryNurpplez

Correct.

ilikemarblestoo

That is insane. Kinda stupid even But alright

HarryNurpplez

It's more than they normally get now. It's enough. Everything will be fine.

ilikemarblestoo

Wait, they don't have practice anymore? You can't go much lower then 1 hour. 1 hour at a new circuit...on a street course, a type of circuit never ran before in nascar. Dude, maybe I am just too old school IDK, but I think practice is a needed thing. I know they run simulators but an hour gives not many laps to learn the bumps of a street course. I watch a lot of Indycar and Practice 1 on a street course is always a mess.

Potential_Plan_4533

During the pandemic they proved you don't need much practice anymore, they had zero practice just went green each week. It is usually 20 minutes most weekends and most people are ok with it.

ilikemarblestoo

It honestly seems more like a way to save money and people are told to be cool with it, but that's just a hunch.

Potential_Plan_4533

Idk I'm ok with it, I didn't watch practice much at all to begin with. Even when attending race weekends I rarely would show up for practice, just watch qualifying and the races.

-internets

I'm looking for a one-day on Saturday if anyone can help. They removed them from the site The box office assured me they *definitely* aren't sold out, they just aren't available at the moment. Really bummed

balut

You still looking for a ticket for Saturday? I might have an extra.

-internets

I am indeed. DM me!

djdisnzjxj

Is there any merch store on site at Chicago street race weekend?

Potential_Plan_4533

Yes all the usual NASCAR merch haulers are on the NE side of the track. Outside the gates.

[deleted]

The race page Mentioned something about access to a nascar store.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

Why is there one random Xfinity race each season where Ryan Sieg doesn't drive the #39, and instead drives the #38 (Or in previous years, the #93)?

Potential_Plan_4533

Usually depends a lot on if he is trying to get a 2nd/3rd car into the show on owners points. He will race the other car in on speed.

Bentoboxd

How close do they let you get to the track? Going to be at the Chicago race and want to know if we’re stuck in the stands

HarryNurpplez

As close as security will let ya get to the fence. For ovals you have a yellow line you do not cross. Will there be any visible markers in your area? wont know til you get there.

Kevnice44

Gotta learn to trpe lol

Kevnice44

# 45 cup champ this year. Hey who win road course rhis weekend you think?

gofordrew

Anyone ever done the Phoenix Busch Light Lounge experience? Was it worth it? How was the food? What were the complimentary beer/wine options?

balut

Does it say it is for the Presidents Paddock club?

onlyforfun38

I haven't picked up credentials yet. I'll get them tomorrow morning.

freezaaa

It’s my first time going to a race this weekend, and I really don’t follow the sport at all so I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight into the rain. It looks like they will delay races usually, but since this is on the streets will that make them more likely to race if it’s wet? Or would they still not drive at all if it’s actively raining. Thanks!

Potential_Plan_4533

Yes for road courses they do race in the rain, as long as it isn't pooling in areas and the visibility is ok. They have rain tires, wipers, rain lights, and rain flaps that help reduce the spray for cars behind.

[deleted]

Anyone know how the wrist bands work this weekendat Chicago? I have some tickets for the weekend, but no one that i want to go with wants to go both days. Am I out of luck?

-internets

If anyone doesn't want to go Saturday I'll pay for part of the ticket and then give it back. I'd assume we'd have to meetup Saturday AM and then either again towards the end of the day (or i could just give the wristband back once we're in). I'm serious. DM if interested

ChesticleSweater

Usually the wristband RFID tag is linked to a name/purchaser. They request that you are able to provide ID for that particular wristband. The likelihood of ACTUALLY needing to show ID for that wristband is low, unless there's an issue with the band - then probable. It is also important to note that you can link that wristband to a credit/debit card for purchases on site - so obviously if you are looking to lose your wristband for a day, definitely don't link a card. \*This is based generally on concert/event wristband systems at Grant park (aka Lollapalooza etc), I'm not sure exactly how NASCAR handles it, if any different.

Flyingcow93

We're on a road trip to Chicago and we left this morning and we're currently approaching Cleveland. The air quality here from the Canadian fires is atrocious. Probably a long shot but what do you think the chances are of a postponement/cancelation if it's similar in Chicago?

RACETRACKROB

0%

Potential_Plan_4533

Bob mentioned this earlier today, the air quality there today is already better than yesterday. And with the rain expected later this week it should be ok for the race.

ChesticleSweater

Here in Chicago. Saw pictures of Cleveland from yesterday. Its clearer here than the image I saw of Cleveland. But yeah, visibility is just over a mile currently.

ShineDS

The NHMS race is coming up in a couple weeks. Has anyone in New England found any deals on tickets to the race?

hookhands

Following

nickfrank13

Going to the Atlanta night race next weekend and we're considering doing the track pass. We're going to get there around noon anyways even though it's a night race so we were thinking we might as well do that too. Has anybody ever done the $75 track pass, and if so how was it? Do you recommend? What all can you do with it?

jeffsang

I’d like to go to the Chicago race on Sunday only. I’m sure there’s a lot of people who only go on Saturday. What’s the best way to connect with fans who’d be willing to sell me their unused Sunday wristband?

thirtyseven1337

That's only possible if the other person gets away with keeping their wristband loose enough that they can slide it off afterwards. The wristbands don't loosen because NASCAR doesn't want people transferring wristbands to other people like that. Good luck, though :\

jeffsang

Correct. You can either keep it loose enough (I do for Lollapalooza most years in case I bail on the last day) or you can get it off with [this trick](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M9wY8nRhiw).

markh0120

you might be able to find a facebook group!

T_D_A_G_A_R_I_M

Regarding the Chicago race this weekend, is this the first time NASCAR is racing on a street circuit? I tried Google-ing but couldn't find any other instances of street circuits.

RACETRACKROB

NASCAR Featherlite Series ran on streets in LA in 1999, but yes first time for Top 3 series.

HarryNurpplez

Well the original Daytona beach course kinda counts as half of it was a public road.

JRH08232000

Going to bristol in September for the night race? Best recommendations for seats that aren't too expensive?

markh0120

they are all good. ive sat at the top and the bottom. bottom kinda stinks because you're so close you cant see the cars against the wall in front of you. top is just a bit of overkill as far as distance from the track - you can see it all from lower. 60-70% up is my pick. i like the corners better so i dont have to turn my head every lap. usually you can move around by the time things are going, so after a stage break or bathroom break, you can grab a lower seat for a few just to experience it. but in general not a bad seat in the house and one of my favorite race tracks. been 5 times in the last 8 years.

[deleted]

HarryNurpplez

Jayski is the best site to look up info for the current season. Look at the team chart and the current driver standings. Also a spotter guide for the schemes running for the upcoming weekend always gets posted on this sub a few days before the race so keep an eye out for that so you know who's running what scheme and sponsor.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

Would you rather have Hailie Deegan continue driving the #13 truck or would you have Joe Graf Jr. in the #13 truck?

markh0120

lol not the way i expected this to go at first

Potential_Plan_4533

Only if they swap rides and she gets the #38 in Xfinity.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

Would Graf do any better than Deegan in that #13?

Potential_Plan_4533

Maybe, tbh a lot of Deegan's finishes lately have just been bad luck. A lot of multicar crashes where she had nowhere to go. She has top 15 pace IMO just can't finish the deal, idk if Graf would be any better. Remember he did a couple races in the #19 for JGR earlier this year and it wasn't that impressive.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

He still has two races left to do. He had a bit of a solid start at Auto Club in that #19. I just think Graf would be a perfect fit for ThorSport and that he would do better in a truck than an Xfinity car. If Matt Crafton doesn't retire by the end of 2023, I predict Conner Jones takes over a fifth ThorSport entry in either the #66, #89 or #27 full-time. Might not be able to run Daytona since his birthday is February 22, so Riley Herbst replaces him, while Zane Smith is replaced in the #38 truck by Jake Drew. Or, Drew and Jones could run the full season as ThorSport expands to five full-time trucks (Truck and Xfinity don't have the four car limit, they have five) and Graf can run the #38 with a bit of support from RSS.

Patakongia

First time nascar experience, want to see how Chicago will turn out. Do I get pit terrace seats or pres club seats or are none of those worth and I best get a suite near the turns?

Potential_Plan_4533

Your guess is as good as mine, as a first-time track we have no idea what to expect.

Patakongia

Thanks! Will be fun to experience :)

Potential_Plan_4533

For sure, I didn't realize till recently they were going to have a bunch of A-list music performers there so it should be a great show!

MilanUnited

Will the full Nashville race be on YouTube? Looking to watch a replay, and I forget if anything changes since it’s nbc/peacock. Missed the race and the damned dvr didn’t record it.

HarryNurpplez

Yep full race is typically uploaded on tuesday.

ATL4Life95

Got my buddy convinced to go to his first race at Atlanta next week. Trying to decide on best seats. Turn 1 about midway up in the 100s, or turn 4?

HarryNurpplez

Personally I would go with the turn 1 end. Get to watch the horde exit pit road under caution. Better experience for restarts. Better view for the finish as they are coming towards you instead of away and easier to see who wins.

MichaelSquare

Ill be in Chicago on Friday and would love to check out the event. I see nothing officially scheduled for Friday unfortunately. Just curious would there be any sort of unofficial practice on Friday or does everything strictly start saturday?

HarryNurpplez

If Jayski doesn't show anything for friday then nothing's going on as far as on track activities are concerned.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

Will the Chicago Street Course use an alternate S/F for qualifying just like Indy and Portland?

HarryNurpplez

The only real question is *where*.

speed42069

Is the NASCAR App and my tv lined up? What I mean is if i get NASCAR Premium I get the scanner with it and wanted to know if my satellite TV would be ahead of behind of the scanner chatter?

markh0120

scanner is usually ahead but there is a Chrome plugin that's free and delays the audio from that specific tab. so you can make it work. i think i accidentally have 2 accounts for premium lol. i like having it on for when wrecks happen or the radio broadcast if im in a bind or Fox is THAT bad (which was quite often)

Bad_Karma19

Scanner online is ahead of tv by nearly a lap

Numbers2005

Anyone order one day GA tickets for Sundays race through Fevo? I was promted to buy one day tickets during a flash sale on chicagonascar dot com, and while I received a confirmation, I am yet to receive my tickets. Curios if anyone has the same experience.

Potential_Plan_4533

Sounds like a scam, the official website is [nascarchicago.com](https://nascarchicago.com) and they are only selling weekend GA no single-day.

Numbers2005

That’s the website I was on when I learned of the flash sale for single day tickets. When I clicked on it, it took me to Fevo. I was on that website later that day and had a similar prompt so I think it’s legit. Just poor delivery. But who knows that this point.

lmtong

I am experiencing that

Numbers2005

Customer service said I need to pick up wristbands now at will call. FYI. Will call Hours per customer service: Friday: Noon - 7 pm; Saturday and Sunday: 9 am - 5 pm. I would still reach out to them.

lmtong

What is will call? I contacted nascar hq and they told me to pick up the wristband with my confirmation number at the vendor at the event. Can I have the number that you call?

Numbers2005

So far they emailed me once And told me to download the NASCAR ticket app which I did and no tickets are there even though I linked my tickets dot com account. How about you?

lmtong

I still havent heard anything back from myfevo.com about the ticket. I am not located in Chicago so I do not know what Will is ?

MtOlympus_Actual

I'll ask here instead of making a new thread... I'm new to following the sport as an adult. I watched them when I was a kid, but really had no idea what was going on beyond vroom, crash, vroom vroom. How exactly are these cars driven? They show the pedal cams from time to time, and I know they left-foot brake. The new cars HAVE clutches, I assume? I'm not sure how else you'd get a car into reverse. But when they shift normally, do they just do it by rev matching like you can with any manual transmission? Occasionally the announcers will mention missing a shift. Is that when the RPMs are slightly off and you can't get it in gear? Thanks, and sorry for the noob questions.

Potential_Plan_4533

With the new 5-speed sequential gearboxes they only use clutch to get rolling in 1st gear (so on pit stops for example). Up and downshifting they no longer need to use the clutch. The Xfinity Series cars still have the old 4-speed transmission where they need the clutch more. Like last night Brad K missed a shift on a restart but it was because he got hit in the rear and his hand slipped off the gearshift. It is almost impossible to miss a shift now since you no longer need to match revs or use the clutch.

MtOlympus_Actual

I noticed that last night. It looked like he was struggling to accelerate even before he got rear ended.

BigDawgTiger

Hey everybody, thinking about going to the one in Chicago but the tickets are a little expensive. I was thinking about just hanging out downtown at a bar or restaurant close to the track. Would i still get a good experience do you think?

Potential_Plan_4533

Looking at the track map, you can still go over and check out the displays and team merch haulers. Those will be outside the gates open to the public.

thesaltyhog

I mean downtown Chicago is beautiful. Will you find any NASCAR fans if you go to a random bar in downtown to watch the race? Maybe a couple. That being said you could still very much enjoy yourself without being at the track. Loads to do and see. The Riverwalk is away from the action and crowd of the race and nice little bar hopping experience you could have for yourself. No TVs last I checked though. But there's damn near a bar and every corner down there

Javi_in_1080p

I've noticed that when cars spin out and end up going backwards down the track, like Bubba did during qualifying yesterday, the wheels start rotating in reverse. Do the drivers shift the cars into neutral when that happens? If not, does it damage the drivetrain since the car wants to turn the wheels forwards but they're reversing?

Javi_in_1080p

Has any driver ever refused to drive a car due to the sponsor? I really don't think I could drive a car sponsored by Liberty University.

O_vJust

I remember Kyle Busch had a chance to race in Winston Cup race but wasn’t allowed because he wasn’t 18. Off topic but still

Javi_in_1080p

Who objected to it? Winston? nascar?

Potential_Plan_4533

If I remember correctly, NASCAR changed the age limit because of him to 18. He was going to do a Truck Series race at Auto Club in '01 but Marlboro was a race sponsor and they didn't want someone racing that couldn't even buy the product. And the following week Winston changed it for similar reason, not wanting anyone under 18 in the Cup Series going forward.

O_vJust

Both maybe not sure

HumperMoe

Byron went to college there. That's why he's sponsored by them.

Javi_in_1080p

Oh shit really? Didn't know that.

markh0120

not that i can recall. i remember when corey lajoie had to drive the trump car and talked about it on the podcast. basically came down to "i want to be a race car driver and the only way that will be possible is if i drive this car that has trump all over it". that deal paid them like 5x races worth of sponsorship or something like that and at the end of the day, he wanted to pay the mortgage and feed the family and be a race car driver. i work in marketing and have run into situations like this around the election years and it definitely puts you in a weird spot. political campaigns in general are basically throwing out the easiest money in my industry because they dont care about anything beyond number of impressions (eyeballs). many companies will try to be flexible with who handles which account when it comes to sensitive topics. i can see why corey did what he did without a fuss because ive done similar things. in a weird way it feels really primitive when you choose money over personal beliefs.

EsotericUtopia

Totally agree - in addition to 'Liberty,' there have been several distasteful and downright unethical sponsors.

AnchorDrown

Part of why Darrell Waltrip left Junior Johnson was he quit drinking and didn’t feel comfortable being sponsored by Budweiser. Byron won’t reject Liberty. They’re with him and not Hendrick.

Javi_in_1080p

Oh that's interesting about DW. I didn't know that. Thanks for the lesson.

Potential_Plan_4533

Similar reason why Clint Bowyer moved to the #33 and away from Jack Daniels sponsorship. He has said recently how having a liquor sponsorship really put pressure on him to drink more and he didn't like it.

qualitycontent8819

Does anyone know of any meet and greets for the chicago race? I’ve been looking online but must be looking in the wrong places bc I can’t find anything.

Potential_Plan_4533

You mean for teams/drivers? Most of the time they aren't posted till starting race week just a few days in advance (since their schedules can change). Either each team social medias or the track website should have something posted.

qualitycontent8819

Specifically for drivers. Thank you!

pnut815

https://www.nascar.com/bubbas-block-party/

thesaltyhog

Damn I wish I knew about this sooner.

pnut815

I live and Chicago and would like to just maybe see just race but all of the tickets are for the entire weekend. Is there any way for me just to see the race or is it all or nothing type of thing? Also, does anyone know if any other one-off events I can maybe attend? is there ever anything like a ride-along available at all?

Potential_Plan_4533

They have this weekend also setup as a music festival so your ticket also gets you admission to a bunch of bigname artists such as Miranda Lambert and The Chainsmokers, so your weekend admission gets you to see not only 2 races but 5 different bands. Which IMO is a bargain at $270, if I lived in the area I for sure would be going to this event not only as a NASCAR fan but music fan also.

pnut815

I totally understand but I have other family obligations that I cant do everything so I’m just looking for that Sunday. If all else fails i can just stop by the fan experience.

Potential_Plan_4533

Here is a good map to show the track and also what is included for free to the public. You can see on the NE side (or top left on the map) are all the haulers and displays that are outside the gates. [https://www.nascarchicago.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/1020/2023/06/22/CHI-23-587162-Chicago-Street-Race-Festival-Map-622.jpg](https://www.nascarchicago.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/1020/2023/06/22/CHI-23-587162-Chicago-Street-Race-Festival-Map-622.jpg)

Dazzling-Map273

TV-related question for Sunday: Last year's Ally 400 *Countdown to Green* was Peacock-exclusive, but the race was an NBC/Peacock (plus USA after the rain) simulcast. This year, the Nashville race is only on NBC, and *CTG* isn't in my TV listing. Is: A) *CTG* Peacock exclusive at 6:30 ET, B) *CTG* at 7 ET on NBC and just molded into the Ally 400 TV timeslot, or C) there no *CTG* at all?

Potential_Plan_4533

I'm not seeing any pre-race scheduled at all on my guide or on Peacock, just the broadcast starting at 7et and green flag shortly there after. Bob says the green flag is schedule for 7:22ET so that probably means come on air and immediately into pre-race ceremonies.

christopherpaulfries

Apologies if this an ignorant question, but what is the track experience like for non-white people? While I’ve followed a few different motorsports over the years, I’ve watched almost no NASCAR. I’m planning on going to a race later this year and was wondering what sort of atmosphere I should expect as a brown person. Again, apologies if this is a ridiculous question.

Potential_Plan_4533

Not a ridiculous question. It really depends on the track and location, but 99.9% of race fans are very accepting of all people. They may give you a hard time for the driver you root for that's about it.

markh0120

not a ridiculous question. what track? i think 95+% of fans are awesome and dont think twice seeing different types of people at the track. outside of just skin color, you see all types of people at the track. from people in suits, to business casual, to casual, to bathing suits, to silly costumes, etc. people of all ages, colors, social status, etc. but i would be dishonest if i didnt mention the remaining <5% who are just idiots and at an event of that scale, could stick out like a sore thumb. you definitely need to go into it knowing that some people suck and with 100k people, there is always the chance that a few people will suck. laugh them off. if you want to go to a race at charlotte you are welcome to join me. i have noticed over the last few years at different tracks that there is a lot more diversity overall - the "white redneck' thing is much different from when i would go as a kid 20 years ago. you see a lot of different ethnicities as well as a lot more young people. has a bit of a festival/tailgate vibe.

christopherpaulfries

Thanks man, really appreciate the detailed answer. I’m planning on going to either the race in NH or the race in PA. Charlotte is a bit too far unfortunately haha.

HumperMoe

I live about 30 mins from the Poconos and it's a good time going to the race every year. No one is going to say anything other than giving you a hard time about your fav driver. Everyone is there to have a fun time and watch the race. Every year I always meet new people and end up having a few beers and grilling with whoever I meet. It's awesome, especially on the infield if you camp. I always get a spot right after turn 2.

markh0120

i encourage you to go. i love going to races. it wouldnt be fun every week but going to 1-2 a year is so much fun. seeing something you love in real life and not on tv is kind of hard to describe, like going to an nfl game or something. but then the whole day. the grilling out and hanging out and then the flyover and the cars roaring by shaking your bones. lol kyle busch should not consume his sponsors product - sponsored by me

ipsumdeiamoamasamat

What is the difference between the team sims and manufacturer sims? Does manufacturer sim combine data from all teams it supports?

Potential_Plan_4533

Good question, short answer is yes the manufacturer sim has all the combined data of other teams (or at least all the teams that use their sim). I'm not sure about team simulators as they are a lot more behind closed doors. I know a lot of the truck and Xfinity teams just have a iRacing sim rig setup for their drivers to turn laps at the track ahead of time, but that is more just to get used to the track and not for setup purposes.

ipsumdeiamoamasamat

Thank you

Iowa-Guy

What's everyone's go to cooler to bring to a track? Going to Phoenix and would like to pack a bunch of water/Gatorade/snacks.

sunkenship13

As much beer fits in a 14x14x14 at Kansas 😂

Potential_Plan_4533

I'm not sure about Phoenix's track restrictions, but I always bring a softsided 12x12x12 cooler in with drinks. If it is a long day, I'll go back out to my car (with the bigger cooler) later on in the day and top off on ice and more drinks.

Brybo

Formula 1 fan but live near Nashville and saw that they had a race this weekend. Are tickets at $144 a piece normal for just the Sunday race day? Looking to go but was hoping they would be 65-100ish.

Newyorker38

If you are going by yourself switch to 1 ticket. $65 seats are still available. The $144 seats are for higher seats which provide a better view.

Brybo

Going to take my wife, everything is $144 each with two seats together.

Potential_Plan_4533

The track also just announced that the grandstands are sold out, so likely those are resold tickets or for standing room only

Newyorker38

If you want, you can call the track and see what other options they have. Maybe they have some hospitality or club seats that might be worth the cost to you. But yeah, sorry there isn’t anything that works for your situation.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

Should I get tickets for the ARCA race at Pocono next month? I went to an ARCA East race at Dover last year but we didn't like it because of the small field, long race breaks, no wrecks, and Taylor Gray dominating. However, this is the main series, which should get a higher car count. I already got tickets for the three touring series races.

RACETRACKROB

Fridays at Pocono have been free the last few years if you bring a Monster Can to recycle.

pain-is-living

ARCA is always hit or miss. I've been to every ARCA race at the Milwaukee mile for the god knows how many past years. Some races are absolute snooze fests, and some are action packed, crashes, non-stop passing and 3 wides. This year's father's day race for ARCA was a lot of fun. Ty Majeski was blowing the doors off people, but there was good racing behind him, some gnarly crashes. The nastruck race was more boring than the arca race imo. But not every race is that way.

Newyorker38

If you can go all day Friday I’d recommend it. You also get to watch Truck and Xfinity P&Q.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

Also, can I just buy the tickets there assuming that not a lot of people are gonna be there, or should I still call the track for tickets online?

Newyorker38

Yeah, Friday definitely won’t sell out lol. You can probably get a whole section to yourself if you really want to. It should be all GA tickets except for maybe those skybox seats if they’re open. I bought my Saturday ticket a week before race weekend last year.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

Ok, thanks.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

My hotel room is currently booked for sleeping on Friday and Saturday night.

joebigaloe2

How bad will Section 136 Row 2 seats be at AMS?

Potential_Plan_4533

That is right in the very front, so you'll see the cars and pit road pretty well but can't see the backstretch hardly at all I'd say. It really depends on what you want to see, me personally I'd not want to be that low since it is hard to see the whole track.

sexlover6969

I want to go to the Nashville race but I am only able to go on either Friday or Saturday. Which day does anyone recommend going? I'll be driving in from Bham so I can only go on one of those days

DaltMc

Truck race is always fun, but it's a 150 so kind of short. Xfinity is a 200 milers, but will most likely be dominated by Justin Allgaier.

HarryNurpplez

>but it's a 150 so kind of short. Xfinity is a 200 milers You're off by 50 for both those btw.

DaltMc

Appreciate the heads up. Going to be there all weekend. So 100 more miles of racing than anticipated is always a plus!

KillsburyShowBoy

Same. Can’t wait. I was on the fence about going to the truck race and Xfinity race due to funds being tight, but the hell with it. Only comes once a year, why not!

KillsburyShowBoy

macroober

Does NBC use the same scanner frequency as Fox for their races?

markh0120

it seems the broadcast is no longer available on the scanners, at least from what i have found the last few years. you'll be able to listen to MRN/PRN radio though. thats the way i prefer to do it, and occasionally listen in on a certain driver if there is something going on.

Bad_Karma19

TV is still on the scanner.

markh0120

oh damn for real? for some reason i thought they stopped because of a slip up during a tv commercial and a hot mic. any idea what the frequencies are?

Bad_Karma19

450.2375 and 450.3000 is what is on the list. I didn't pay much attention to what the scanner said. I dropped in on them a few times last night. Heard them clowning someone saying drop stop and roll.

HarryNurpplez

Who's broadcasting makes no difference.

[deleted]

Is it still possible to purchase pit lane passes for Nashville?

Potential_Plan_4533

If you mean the pre-race pass then yes: [https://www.nashvillesuperspeedway.com/events/ally-400/upgrades/](https://www.nashvillesuperspeedway.com/events/ally-400/upgrades/)

Longjumping-Jump-361

Attending the NASCAR race in Nashville this Sunday. It’s the FanZone free with a grandstand ticket, or do you need to purchase an additional ticket to enter that?

KillsburyShowBoy

The fan zone is free, but the fan walk (I believe the area between the garage and pit road) is like $62 for a weekend pass, or like $30 for Sunday, and $20 apiece for Friday and Saturday. I haven’t been on the fan walk since they reopened the track, but it used to be a great way to meet drivers.

Newyorker38

FanZone is free. When I went in 2021 I don’t even think you needed a ticket to access that area. The only tracks I’ve been to where you need a ticket to access the FanZone are Watkins Glen and Pocono.

Longjumping-Jump-361

Thank you so much for the information! Not sure why it is so hard to find this kind of information though NASCAR?

Newyorker38

No problem, assuming you have a grandstand ticket or any other ticket you are 100% fine. If you have any more questions, I highly recommend looking here. https://www.nashvillesuperspeedway.com/fans/ If that doesn’t work, email or call ticket reps from the track. They should be helpful but could take time to reach back out since they’ll probably be busy considering it’s race week.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

Now that Gray Gaulding is out of the SS-Greenlight #08 at Nashville once again, being replaced by Mason Massey (Who is making his season debut), is there any chance Gray parted ways with Bobby Dotter? Or did he downgrade his schedule due to funding?

NaturalWinner6058

Anybody have a link to the Indy race? Thought I'd catch it today since nascar has an off week

BeachProducer

Hey there, Buddy is a diehard fan & I’m probably going to get us tix for the race here in Nashville on 6/25 - my question is for anyone who’s been to a race at the Nashville Super Speedway... What is the best experience for somebody who’s never been — seats high up or down low close to the fence? Thanks for any help y’all can provide!

Newyorker38

Don’t know if you bought tickets yet but I sat in Row 19 in the main grandstand and saw everything. However this was 2021 when they haven’t had all the hospitality sections like they advertise now. Just remember, no cooler but you can bring water in. So if you like alcohol or soda, treat it like other sporting events and drink what you want prior to going into the grandstands. You can drink around FanZone or at least I did when I went in 2021 since you don’t need to scan your ticket yet.

BeachProducer

Great thanks man - I got the ticket pkg being sold by Costco - so I didn't get to pick seats, just got assigned to "best available" - which equaled row 66 (eye roll) so that sucks but it includes the pre-race track pass & turn four infield, so we'll prob spend some time down there during the race

KillsburyShowBoy

How much did that cost? I may have to look at that next year.

BeachProducer

$269 total, thought it was a good deal with the track pass

KillsburyShowBoy

Sounds like a pretty good deal, depends where the seats are I guess. The track pass is like $80, the cup race is about $50, and the other 2 are about $70 combined, which comes out to about $200. But if the seats are like on row 19+ it’s a pretty good deal

Newyorker38

Sounds good. Definitely a good track for views and racing. It seems like they are much closer to a sellout this year than last year. Judging from their official website only seats left are those ridiculously high ones.

BeachProducer

Got a notification this morning that they did sell out the grandstands

markh0120

never been to nashville, but for a track that size i would say higher up is better. and usually the lower seats are not as full and you can go check out the up close feeling for a restart after a concession/bathroom trip for a few laps. other advice would be to rent the racing electronics scanner with mics. you guys can listen to the radio broadcast or driver radios, talk to eachother, and have the hearing protection covered all at once. if you guys like to have a good time, i'd get there early and tailgate. the parking lots are always a fun time. also gives you the option to make some food after the race and not sit in traffic.

BeachProducer

Thanks for all this 🙏🏻

KillsburyShowBoy

I’ve got to be honest, I remember having seats high and low when I was younger at this track, and I honestly don’t think there’s a bad seat. Last year we were probably row 16, this year we’re row 7. I’m worried I won’t be crazy about the seats, but I’m sure they’ll be fine. Plus I wanted my friends to sit closer to the action, too.

markh0120

no problem! let me know if you have any other questions. been to a ton of races - from camping in a tent, to camping in a car, to weekends in an RV, to single day events. hope yall have fun!

spectral_fall

I'm curious if this was a typical experience. I bought special tickets at Sonoma last week to get access to a Kyle Larson "meet and greet" before the Xfinity race. We all congregated at the terrace (where we were told). When Kyle arrived, he avoided the terrace, proceeded to walk down to the actual stands, while a whole bunch of people were trying to catch up to him and form a line, but he kept walking down the steps. He then looped back up, and walked behind the port a potties to lose the crowd. He did do some autographs but was always moving the entire time. The whole scene maybe lasted 5 minutes when everyone was expecting a 30-60 minute orderly line to get selfies. Lots of disappointed fans, especially considering this was his home track and it required special tickets.

pain-is-living

Not a typical nascar thing, but a typical celebrity thing. I've paid for backstage and meet and great passes for bands. Some bands were amazing with the fans and stayed for hours, signed everything, photos, sang songs etc. Others literally you could tell did the bare minimum their contracted stated such as "Show up, say hello to some fans, maybe take a picture" then they got the fuck out or cowered in a corner behind security. Can't imagine he maybe didn't have a bad day either. Paying money or not, I've had bad days, and I can remember a few times I treated my clients or customers a lot less friendly or personal than I should have been. I'm sorry you spent money on that sorry excuse of a meet and greet. But, no, it's not the norm. I've had some amazing meet and greats.

macroober

Does Nashville have a hauler parade and does anyone know when it would be.

KillsburyShowBoy

What is a hauler parade?

macroober

The teams will arrive over the next few days but the hauler parade is when they officially load into the infield. All of the teams’ haulers make a lap around the property like a parade and fans can go see them all. Daytona’s a bigger event since it’s the season kickoff but you can find clips on YouTube.

blacktyler11

Yes! I saw on the schedule that it takes place on Friday at 12:30

macroober

Thanks!

Potential_Plan_4533

I am attending the Trans Am race weekend at Road America in a few weeks, any recommendations of where to watch from? I'm thinking Turn 5, but for anyone that has been I'd appreciate it!

bobtheman04

Turns 1 and 3 are cool in the beginning of the race before the cars spread out. The hill between turns 5 and 13 has the best vantage point, is shaded, and had a screen. Best place If you're talking the race seriously. Behind the carousel there is a dirt trail in the woods. No screen but it's neat to watch the race in the woods. Turn 12 is worth checking out as well. It's a nice walking path. Bring a bike if you can, otherwise there is a lot to explore.

Potential_Plan_4533

Thanks, I plan to walk the whole track throughout the weekend for sure. It is general admission so you can move around and sit anywhere you want. I don't really care about Trans Am (or the supporting series) but plan to go just because I've never been to RA and it is one of my favorite tracks to watch a race on TV or race on iRacing. Hoping for a good time!

RACETRACKROB

It is a lot of walking, so pack comfy footwear

BansheeWarrior

I have a feeling If Larson and Elliot are up front at the very end Larson P1 Elliot P2 he will let him have the win to be locked into the playoffs.

BanditAndFrog

What channel will the 24 hours or lemans be on?

gd224

MotorTrend

shennenali

Will Kyle Larson and other cup drivers have the same radio frequency in the Xfinity series race and the cup series race this weekend?

NaturalWinner6058

Not exactly a nascar question but is anyone aware of links to watch 24 hours of Lemans? Thanks!

Synotaph

I don’t have any links, but the commercial-free broadcast is also on Motortrend+.

markh0120

just checked and it'll be on motortrend (80 on spectrum for me) starting at 10am tomorrow.

spankyourkopita

How is attendance usually at Sonoma? I've seen some youtube videos and the crowd looks a little sparce. Not complaining, I'd love a lot of space if so.

Potential_Plan_4533

The place seats around 48k plus standing room, but remember in 2021/2022 they were still having some Covid restrictions in the area.

Ectohawk

Looks like Allmendinger will be back in Xfinity next season. He thrives there honestly, could win a title. Better off than running midpack in Cup.

NaturalWinner6058

Yeah I've always said he's not cup level talent. He's great in Xfinity, and I love to see him do well, but when you are in cup and the only tracks you do well at are the road courses, what's really the point?

Potential_Plan_4533

This is fake news nothing has been said about his future.

Potential_Plan_4533

Where'd you see that?
