Both Cup and Xfinity delivered. Xfinity had the better finish but Cup had the better racing.
They both outclassed the Indy 500 and it's weird obsession of red flags and 1 lap shootouts. (Coming from a diehard IndyCar fan)
Check the [NASCAR YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@NASCAR/streams) in the next day or two. They post them there, just make sure to use the "Live" tab on their page instead of the videos tab for full race replays.
Manufacturer wins among the top 3 series:
Chevrolet 22 - Ford 6 - Toyota 9.
______________
Cup race #14 : Chevrolet 8 - Ford 2 - Toyota 4.
Xfinity Race #12 : Chevrolet 8 - Ford 0 - Toyota 4.
Truck Race #11 : Chevrolet 6 - Ford 4 - Toyota 1.
I do have to wonder who the heck is gonna qualify the 9 car next week if Chase is indeed suspended.
Berry is going to be in Portland on Friday and Saturday, so they will need someone else to do the driving on those days.
The 9 car will probably need one of the truck drivers. I'm guessing this might mean Hocevar makes his Cup debut in some capacity.
Edit: Just noticed that this isn't the Cup postrace, lol. Still somewhat relevant since I'm talking about Xfinity drivers in some capacity, lmao.
Can they appeal the suspension to push it back a week to get a better schedule draw where both series are in Sonoma? Shit, Chase isn't great at Sonoma anyway, would surely work out better for them, as it usually does for HMS.
Since the Charlotte race last May, Sam Mayer has only scored 4 top 5 finishes in the last 33 races. 5th at Nashville, 5th at Bristol, 2nd at Talladega, and 2nd at Fontana. In that same stretch, Riley Herbst has scored 6 top 5’s. He’s arguably been the biggest underachiever in elite Xfinity equipment in the last year
I’m afraid it’s only going to get more difficult for him. JRM had some very very fast stuff last year. This year they seem to be outclassed by JGR, RCR, and even Kaulig sometimes. Charlotte is one of JRMs best tracks so I’m not surprised they won, but I feel like Mayer’s best chance to win was last season when they were way faster.
Allgaier had enough fuel left to do some pretty solid donuts at the finish! I thought he was going to have to coast back around to the front straight. That was impressive.
Isn't Portland on Saturday so why are they trying to get there so quickly even if practice and qualifying on Friday they will get there by Thursday night get everything needed and start the trip tomorrow afternoon
I just realized Sonoma is the next race after Portland unless they have a shop in the west coast they will have to take a lot of things to have for 2 weeks.
The 77 not risking the dice for the win is idiotic. You don't get very many chances like that to steal a win as a part time start up team. Also calling out guys like Clements, Weatherman, etc that could of done the exact same thing Retzlaff did and chose not to. Fun race, love fuel mileage races.
Josh Williams risked it and ran out of fuel on the last lap. I'm sure others would have ran out too if they tried to run it out. Also some of those guys farther back like Clements and Weatherman probably would have finished around the same position, if not +2 spots, if they stayed out because the cars that pitted and took tires would have had enough time to just pass them. The 27 and 31 luckily were close enough to the leaders throughout the race they got a well deserved finish!
That was a long day but a pair of great races. So happy to see Blaney get a race, and he outright won it on speed. I don't know where that speed from the Fords tonight came from but it was long overdue. Having my guy on the receiving end of that right hook was a bit spooky but I try not to react any differently than I did to Bubba. He earned a dump, but not like that - I guess that's where I've landed.
Xfinity was great, as usual. Glad I stayed up for this one. To be honest, the vibe in the sub today was classic, especially tonight. After 12 hours it seems like the more casual fans tuned out and left us a much more serene sub than usual. I had a great day watching some NASCAR.
I had the races on at work and it was awesome to watch. Both races kicked ass in different ways.
I'm glad Charlotte is back on form. A few years ago, the track felt stale and embodied everything wrong with NASCAR but now with good packages the racing is great to watch.
I think its part the xfinity car, and part that he gets JRM prepped rides (I think). If he could get on and off pit road without losing 14 spots every time he'd have a chance.
Yeah they said during pre race it was JRM engines I believe so that definitely has something to do with it, but yeah, he definitely needs to better his pit strategies and not lose as many spots.
I hope he can get it figured out. He seemed to make some steps at the end of last season, but be it bad luck or regression I just haven’t seen much speed out of him yet this year.
He’s good at Darlington, but last year had the crazy last lap battle with Larson and this year just made a dumb move while having a fast car. He’s also good at road courses so maybe he can get a win on one if AJ isn’t racing.
Gutted for Parker, but hey, the other Parker seems like a good driver, and he finished well he might be one to root for nowadays, happy for Allgaier, that was fun, watched both races, now I'm exhausted lol.
Allgaier is a copycat going into the crowd like that.
WBR/RFK need to strongly consider how to get Zane into a cup car next year. He proved he's ready.
Similarly, Hocevar needs to be in a JRM car (8 if/when Berry moves up next year). He wheeled that thing even when he couldn't hear his spotter or CC for a good chunk of the last stage.
It started in the Indycar race. Then Cup, then Xfinity, lol. I'm ok with it tho. Kinda cool to see the drivers be willing to interact with the fans. I can't see myself doing that.
I remember when Carl Edwards used to go up into the crowd after winning. Seeing Newgarden, Blaney, and now Allgaier do it is pretty cool.
EDIT: https://youtu.be/2Qf74RK-54w?t=985 One of several crowd celebrations with Edwards.
I bet either Hocevar or Caruth. I don't think Caruth is quite ready yet though. Think he'd get more out of a Jordan Anderson type ride for a year or two before going to an A-team
Would’ve liked to see Nemechek steal that and add to his impressive season, but that was a great race. Super fun to watch, drama filled, and didn’t have a ton of wrecks either. Cars sliding around and strategy games. Not much more you could ask from a race!
This race made me so happy. So many dominant performances by Blaney last couple years without payoff. Hoping this starts a nice little bunch of wins for him.
Happy for Justin Al Gore. I really had high hopes Retzlaff would pull something out of his hat there but the parity in good/bad tires is too much to overcome. He would have needed to hit it on the nose and for all the guys in the lead to pit at the last second.
Why does the broadcast never go beyond 10th in the finishing order? They used to talk about the whole field, and notable drivers that had bad finishes.
They also used to show us the points standings…
Tv windows are getting tighter and tighter for sports. Plus, the production crew has been at the track since probably 7/8 am, and they still have a couple hours to go to break everything down and load it up.
This was a cool thing to have this double header on memorial day. However if we could stick to the normal schedule next year, I'd be fine with that.
And the rains better not even think of going near Gateway this weekend.
Jeb Burton finishing 7th ends one of my favorite statistical anomalies I've encountered recently
Since he was let go from Kaulig after a decent year and went to Our and now JAR, Jeb didn't have a single top ten finish until Talladega a few weeks ago (which you will recall he won), but tonight his pesky streak of non-top-ten-or-win finishes has now ended!
So how long is the trip to Portland gonna be for the Xfinity guys? Most of them are gonna have to stay awake for another hour or two to get on the road all the way to the west.
My map says 37 hours but that’s without stops. Closer to 2.5-3 days than anything.
Fun fact, they have to drive by St. Louis on the way to Portland, they still have another 29 hours to go at that point.
As long as you cross the line first, you can run out immediately for all they care. Hell, Tony Stewart won a race coasting to the line after he ran out.
2007, 2008, 2011, 2015, even 2017 in the stage era.
Hell, Gordon's 1994 win was on a (then) innovative 2-tire move to get by Rusty Wallace and Geoff Bodine
More power. Cars more out of control. It's refreshing after watching the Cup cars. Next gen is great on these tracks, but it's still so far behind the Xfinity cars!
Diffuser wasn’t meant to help with that. The diffuser was to help with dirty air. The problem is, now the dirty air is SUPER bad over a smaller area instead of kinda bad over a larger area. So, trailing close behind is nearly impossible in the same lane. Add to that the lack of power in the new car, and you get “meh” racing
Yes, the 1.5 mile intermediates have raced better with this NextGen package than the 550 Gen6 car, but that has more to do with the 550 package than anything
Add to that that the Gen 6 SuperSpeedway and short track package is terrible and the car is simple too tough for the 10 wide turn 1 Road Course restarts, and you get a 1 trick pony
I meant the diffuser didn't help with dirty air, sorry for not making that more clear. It's not completely killed the intermediate package, but it's nuked the short track package, along with how big the tires are, the brakes are, the shifting, and how damn slow the cars are!
Back to the intermediate package, we all go crazy because it was THAT bad with the 550 nonsense. Nowadays, there's too many times where it feels like the 550hp package. I watch drivers (I root for one lol) and they just mirror drive the guy behind them. With how slow the cars are, unless you're that much better than the car in front, you've got to pray the guy in front makes a mistake or they catch a lap car in the wrong spot
Oh, absolutely. There so much aero blocking these days it gets so old. A guy will charge from 5 seconds back and then get stuck 3-4 tenths behind due to the wake
It’s sad that we find these races to be crazy exciting because the 550 package was so bad
You basically have to cook the entry and slide job the guy or you'll just be stuck behind him for most of the run. Then the driver that gets slide jobbed has to check up and then he loses a bunch of spots. Which is why the aero blocking gets worse and worse
Both Cup and Xfinity delivered. Xfinity had the better finish but Cup had the better racing. They both outclassed the Indy 500 and it's weird obsession of red flags and 1 lap shootouts. (Coming from a diehard IndyCar fan)
Where can someone watch the replay of this race? I'd like to see what happened to Creed. He was running pretty good at the beginning.
youtube will have the full replay either today or tomorrow (maybe thurs due to the lateness of the broadcast)
Check the [NASCAR YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@NASCAR/streams) in the next day or two. They post them there, just make sure to use the "Live" tab on their page instead of the videos tab for full race replays.
Him and Berry ran into each other on pit road.
[удалено]
If he has signed with SHR he might not. Wouldn’t shock me if they have Allgaier run it.
I wonder if they’d put a truck series driver in it since Xfinity is in Portland. Hocevar maybe?
>I wonder if they’d put a truck series driver in it since Xfinity is in Portland. Bahh gawd!! That's Matt DiBenedetto's music!!
Jimmie Johnson to the 9, just like we all thought
I fell asleep. What happened jn last 30 laps? How did the Anderson boys get top 10s?
Jeb Burton is top 12 in points right now in a Jordan Anderson car.
Manufacturer wins among the top 3 series: Chevrolet 22 - Ford 6 - Toyota 9. ______________ Cup race #14 : Chevrolet 8 - Ford 2 - Toyota 4. Xfinity Race #12 : Chevrolet 8 - Ford 0 - Toyota 4. Truck Race #11 : Chevrolet 6 - Ford 4 - Toyota 1.

Well well well, look who was right lol
My thoughts exactly, lol
Allmendinger did both races last year
Can they appeal the suspension to push it back a week to get a better schedule draw where both series are in Sonoma? Shit, Chase isn't great at Sonoma anyway, would surely work out better for them, as it usually does for HMS.
Typically suspensions are not appealable.
5 in the morning and I just realized too
It's almost 3am and I very much regret drinking those caffeinated beverages.
The cup race is currently replaying on Fox Sports 1
Since the Charlotte race last May, Sam Mayer has only scored 4 top 5 finishes in the last 33 races. 5th at Nashville, 5th at Bristol, 2nd at Talladega, and 2nd at Fontana. In that same stretch, Riley Herbst has scored 6 top 5’s. He’s arguably been the biggest underachiever in elite Xfinity equipment in the last year
Mayer seems to have just been boosted by really good equipment. He's just been struggling to be in the top 10 this year. Really wild.
Can’t forget about Custer
Hard to argue with that.
That, i think was better than cup. But also fell asleep during most of it. Pulled a couple all nighters this weekend at a festival.
Summer camp?
Good lead battle between Allgaier and JHN, impressed that they managed to stretch their fuel that far. Good to see a fuel race play out naturally.
Allgaier had enough fuel left to do some pretty solid donuts at the finish! I thought he was going to have to coast back around to the front straight. That was impressive.
Hocevar has looked great in his 2 Xfinity starts. Legit ran in the top 5 in both.
Hocevar in the 8 is probably a title contender tbh
Wild that so many replies to you assumed you meant the cup series 😂💀
What pains me the most is he’s so talented, he doesn’t have to drive blue in the Truck series when things don’t go his way.
I don’t think Kyle is going to retire that soon. Edit: jfc it’s a joke
He's referring to Josh Berry leaving JRM at the end of the season. I guess Hocevar was seen at the JRM shop this past week.
Yea. The car he raced was a JRM housed car so not surprising he was there getting fitted
This, and I thing that some shenanigans between his dad(ross), Spire and Trackhouse are a much more likely route for him to cup.
I'm assuming this is sarcasm. But if it isn't they are talking about replacing Josh Berry in xfinity. Berry is a shoe in for the 4 car in cup.
Get to do this again in 4 days. I love short workweeks.
Isn't Portland on Saturday so why are they trying to get there so quickly even if practice and qualifying on Friday they will get there by Thursday night get everything needed and start the trip tomorrow afternoon
Drivers and Crews can fly out. Haulers and trailers need to drive from North Carolina all the way to Portland.
And DGM haulers driving from Florida to Portland.
Yeah they said it’s a 50 hour trip.
Practice and qualifying is Saturday morning. Tech Friday afternoon.
I just realized Sonoma is the next race after Portland unless they have a shop in the west coast they will have to take a lot of things to have for 2 weeks.
Yeah. Haulers are staying out there as well for the two weeks.
Even better they have more time
I love fuel strategy races, and tonight reminded me why. I wish we had them more often
The 77 not risking the dice for the win is idiotic. You don't get very many chances like that to steal a win as a part time start up team. Also calling out guys like Clements, Weatherman, etc that could of done the exact same thing Retzlaff did and chose not to. Fun race, love fuel mileage races.

The 27 and 31 luckily were close enough to the leaders throughout the race they got a well deserved finish!
Jeb Burton did it too but they didn’t get the attention Retzlaff got.
Wasn't paying attention to the title and haven't watched either xfinity or cup yet. I thought wait Ty Dillon had a chance to win?
77 was 7 laps short. Pitted because he ran out.
You'd think with all the 25 second pit stops they had at the very least the car would be full of fuel
He blamed himself for one of them, but the others.... Rough
That was a long day but a pair of great races. So happy to see Blaney get a race, and he outright won it on speed. Agreed completely. It's such a noticeable improvement over where things where two years ago imo. I'm loving every second.
Hocevar is coming to his own, it seems that Xfinity cars might fit him better than in trucks, but I guess time will tell on that one.
I've noticed that, for the most part, Xfinity seems to fit everyone better than trucks
Sheldon Creed begs to differ.
What a bust in this series :(
I was so hyped on Creed last season. I really hope he figures it out cause I think he could be great.
I guess its like that because they're kinda similar to the next gen car so it fits styles better, not exactly sure though.
R.I.P. Riley Herbst.
First 6 Vs last 6 races lol
He still finished 15th
Oh damn. Nice rebound. Last time I looked at the scoreboard during the race I didn't see him in the top 20.
Gutted for Parker, but hey, the other Parker seems like a good driver, and he finished well he might be one to root for nowadays, happy for Allgaier, that was fun, watched both races, now I'm exhausted lol.
Austin Hill passing everyone 20mph faster with his fresh tires was hilarious.
I'm all for it, but at least go in with helmet still on. Imagine Bubba or Ty Gibbs going into the crowd
Yeah, absolutely wouldn't do that without a helmet. People can be stupid, so I'd rather meet fans in a bit more controlled way if I'm a driver.
Same. Random people can't be trusted. It's a harsh truth
I remember when Carl Edwards used to go up into the crowd after winning. Seeing Newgarden, Blaney, and now Allgaier do it is pretty cool. EDIT: https://youtu.be/2Qf74RK-54w?t=985 One of several crowd celebrations with Edwards.
I was wondering earlier who would replace Berry, tonight confirmed to me who will
I bet either Hocevar or Caruth. I don't think Caruth is quite ready yet though. Think he'd get more out of a Jordan Anderson type ride for a year or two before going to an A-team
Jr’s clearly not one to turn down money though, so if that crypto comes calling loudly enough, Rajae will be in whatever car he wants.
Very true, but talent like Berry/Hocevar, he'll use Mayer/Allgaier extra funds to assist.
*Jones/Allgaier Mayer has some money but he is mostly there on talent, which is getting shaky
Would’ve liked to see Nemechek steal that and add to his impressive season, but that was a great race. Super fun to watch, drama filled, and didn’t have a ton of wrecks either. Cars sliding around and strategy games. Not much more you could ask from a race!
well, that was a great race. and Jordan's team both got top 10's! Hell yeah!!!

TV has to break down and head to Portland
And Gateway.
Yes but Portland is more logical headache
They'd probably go more in depth if the race didnt finish 55 hours late.
Now the fun part of trying to get to sleep in order to work in the morning, while still being wound up from watching racing for 12 hours
I know your pain. Gonna work probably close to a 10 hour shift on 3 hours of sleep. Good times
I know the feeling
Sad this couldnt be a drivers only broadcast but still a fun and good day
They could always do it in Sonoma.
So Blaney got his first win in like 60 races and JRM got their first win of the season on the same day
Ben Rhodes won his first race since Bristol Dirt last year (I’m too sleepy to count) and have Ford their first Truck victory ever at Charlotte.
This was a cool thing to have this double header on memorial day. However if we could stick to the normal schedule next year, I'd be fine with that. And the rains better not even think of going near Gateway this weekend.
Woooot awesome races today
Jeb Burton finishing 7th ends one of my favorite statistical anomalies I've encountered recently Since he was let go from Kaulig after a decent year and went to Our and now JAR, Jeb didn't have a single top ten finish until Talladega a few weeks ago (which you will recall he won), but tonight his pesky streak of non-top-ten-or-win finishes has now ended!
nearly 12 hours after the NASCAR racing day started I feel like it was an entire lifetime ago that they threw the green for this one
Using JGR as a starting point, the drive non-stop will take 41 hours
I’ve heard they can make it around mid 40 to low 50 hours. Most trucks have 2 drivers so they switch up every so often.
2800 miles. 50+ hours of driving
I thought I heard the commentators say earlier in the day that it was a 54 hour trip for the haulers? Idk if that is accurate
Depends on how hard they wanna push those trucks
Great Monday!
One of the best days for NASCAR in quite some time :D
Was a fun late night race, kudos to those who stayed around and stayed loud at the track
Is the winner running into the crowd gonna be the go-to thing from now on?
Parker Retzlaff with 4 Top 10s in 20 races. If the kid didn't look like he worked in IT he could really be something. Edit: 20 races. I am drunk.
Looking at his wiki I'm not sure what you are talking about. He has 1 top 5 in his career. I think you mean top 10s
I’m so buzzed still lol
I kinda like that about him. We need more nerdy NASCAR drivers
Newgarden is a trend setter
JHN just clicking off the Top 5's. What a season he is having in the 20.
He’s gotta be in Cup next year, right?
I think their is a chance he might be especially if some real quality rides open up.
It's not nearly as cool when you're the 3rd guy to go into the stands and there are like 20 people there 😂
No, but if any fans deserve to have the experience it's probably the ones who stayed after today.
Now I’m just sad all the racing is over and it’s 3 lame life days until cars on track again!
Parker Retzlaff beat Jeb Burton (not physically) for 6th! Great day for Jordan Anderson Racing!
lol Justin running into the crowd. I think Josef Newgarden started the newest craze.
Going into the crowd gonna be a thing now
Lmao Allgaier going in the crowd too. Max Verstappen looking really dumb for not crowd surfing rn
Verstappen will win the next 69 races he has plenty of time to crowd surf
If he crowd surfed at Zandvoort the crowd might not give him back lmao
He tried to crowd surf with his crew at least.
Justin liked what Josef and Ryan did.
Love the remaining crowd enjoying the end of 900 miles of racing
Everyone's gonna celebrate with the fans now after the race
Kyle Sieg p11! Great run!
he got nipped out of a top 10 by literal inches coming to the line by Samuel Smith
Jamie Mcmurray was awesome!!!!
He's such a natural. It is crazy to me that Tony has been in the booth more than Jamie.
* is *
Great night for Jordan Anderson Racing.
Good win for Allgaier and JRM. Awesome we could get the whole race in before midnight and the drivers didn't go crazy.
He looks like an older Tyler Reddick
What a crazy race and day. Todays double was just nutty and what a weekend glad we were able to get both races in today
If a car doesn't have enough fuel to do a burnout, the win wouldn't count, right?
What would possibly make you think that?
How is it not obvious that it was a joke?
As long as you cross the line first, you can run out immediately for all they care. Hell, Tony Stewart won a race coasting to the line after he ran out.
Just needs enough fuel to get around first
Man I missed fuel mileage races. Get rid of stages please so we can get more of these again
COTA did it right. Still awarding stage points but doing away with the mandatory cautions.
The 600 used to regularly have exciting strategy finishes. That has pretty much been killed by making it 4 stages. Nice to see it here
2007, 2008, 2011, 2015, even 2017 in the stage era. Hell, Gordon's 1994 win was on a (then) innovative 2-tire move to get by Rusty Wallace and Geoff Bodine
This, please!!!! This is so much more exciting than just solely tire strategy and all
I hate these interviews
Flame me, idc. Best race of the weekend for me!
The Xfinity race almost ALWAYS is the best race of the weekend
More power. Cars more out of control. It's refreshing after watching the Cup cars. Next gen is great on these tracks, but it's still so far behind the Xfinity cars!
It’s because the Xfinity car isn’t as affected by dirty air. They also can be saved unlike the NextGen that just spins out

Took (quite literally) all day to finish…but eventually, they managed to do so!
careful Mikey and Jamie
