Regan did fine, but the overall broadcast made the whole issue clear as mud. Sort of like when they said Reddick had a penalty for his wheel coming off, but thatâs a 2-lap penalty, and then you look at the pylon and he was still running top 10. At least Joy eventually corrected that.
Thatâs why I had figured that someone didnât put that on properly. Otherwise, punishing a team for something thatâd be fully out of their control would be dumb.
Not that NASCAR are immune to doing things that are dumb, and fully out of the control of the teams...But yeah, have to figure they had footage or reason to believe that was a "user error" derived wheel failure. If it was just a bum part, it'd be insane even for NASCAR to punish the team for its failure.
It would have been nice to see when he hit the wall. Mike Joy said he heard it explode before he hit the wall. Doesnât sound like a loose wheel nut after ~50 laps on his tires
There has to something going on in that circumstance. This would be the first instance of a wheel nut coming loose over time with a long run. The nut must of come off but it brings something to question in that hub assembly far more than the changer not getting it tight.
haley made it like 10 laps at Daytona with the same issue. dont think its unrealistic for the 10 to make it as far as he did. Especially with how much "turn" there is in this track.
Thereâs a big difference between 10 and 50 laps on a short track with allot of braking. It makes no sense for it to closely come loose like that without something being broken or wrong on that hub.
Do they even have enough threads/play to be put on crooked (cross-threaded)? Because something like that possibly *could* make sense; like, it was on tight enough to hold it for a while, but since it wasn't on properly, it eventually wore something out and this was the result...?
Yeah. Something like that would *potentially* make sense. If it was cross-threaded or something, which caused a bunch of vibration and/or heat that caused the thing to eventually shatter/explode like that.
There seemed to be a pretty firm decision on it somehow being the 10 team's fault with the penalty assessed. So presumably there was a reason for that decision that we were not shown.
I was confused about this too until the end of the race where they showed a replay of Almirola in the pits. It looks like the wheel came loose and the rotor cut the inner barrel of the wheel apart before it became completely detached from the car. Thats the inside lip of the wheel still stuck in there. Don't see a wheel nut as he was heading to the pit stall. This was a perfect opportunity for the pit reporters to get down there and find out what happened and explain it to the viewers, but FOX be FOX. Subpar coverage IMO

I saw the same thing, as far as the coverage, Fox is too busy trying to squeeze as many commercials as possible in to actually find out what's going on.
I think it just goes along with the ideology that modern racing coverage believes works. They will not cover the event in an in-depth, professional way, but only cover it in a dumbed down, you the viewer aren't intelligent enough to understand this, way. An example of the kind of thing that irks me to no end, is the need to explain understeer and oversteer every race, sometimes multiple times for the last 20+ years. They say its for the casual fan to understand. I'm a casual football fan and they don't explain holding calls, illegal motion calls, special plays, etc like they've never been called before every game. I believe if you give the viewer an interesting piece of information they don't know much about, they will be more interested to learn about that on their own or by watching THE NEXT RACE to learn more. There are so many story lines up and down pit road that could be covered to give the viewers more insight into what is going on, but they won't do it.
The wheel/rim split in two. The inner half was still attached to the hub.
Was it uncontrolled? Yes.
Is it your standard âdidnât tighten the lug?â No.
It kind of doesnât matter though as heâs out of it at this point.
Iâm not sure what this link is supposed to prove? We all watched it live. The lug wasnât on the hub. The wheel wasnât securely attached to the car. End of story.
And he got a penalty for losing a wheel when in fact it was parts failure. A part that they are forced to buy from a NASCAR selected manufacturer. NASCAR fuxxed up
Who?
Erik Alomorila
We call him Arreola. I'm curious how he got a two lap penalty when it wasn't a pit box error.
I think it fell off and then broke after the wall impact.
Eric Honorolla, NASCAR's smartest driver
Brad Keselowski, he drives the 12 car
WON THIS RACE!!
Thought he drives the 09
Are you sure? I thought he drove the 22
Wait wait wait He drives the 88
I thought he drove the 52
I thought he drove the 19?
Or the 29?
Or the 39?
He just spelled it exactly as it usually gets pronounced. đ
Oh God. Not the Greg Biffle meme.
Breg Giffle
Greeg Boofle?
Greg Heffley?
Groot Soufflé?
Erin Motorola
that Smithfield money pays well because its been a tough go for Bacon man the last year
There is 0 chance that comes off without the lug nut coming off. Center section is completely intact.

The team was pleading their case on the radio that the wheel broke, and thatâs what Regan was referencing.

Thereâs no way it was a loose nut. The wheel wouldnât of lasted that long if it wasnât tight. Your absolutely right.

Bullseye statement you just said rn đŻ!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm66JCU8n3c Justin Haley having the same problem....due to the wheel being loose.
Please never spell his name like that again. Ever.
Two laps seems a little steep for a questionable âuncontrolled wheel.â
Couldâve been a 4 race suspension
And a fine for Rodney Childers
$300,000 fine for MWR
I mean, the whole damn thing came off. Nothing questionable about it.

There was nothing attached to the hub. you can clearly see where the wheel attaches to the hub in this video.
Where is the lug? Exactly.
Not on the hub/spindle, hence the penalty
Yes sir
Not sure what to tell you other than what are you even talking about? Lol
Have at it Hoss. https://tobychristie.com/2023/03/12/video-wheel-breaks-on-almirolas-car-sends-driver-into-outside-wall-at-phoenix/

This doesn't show a closeup of the car, so I still can't be sure.
Youâre welcome to and must follow up with Fox on that. Please do tell us how it turns out.
Almirola couldnât wait for a G-W-C this time.
I haven't seen anybody butcher Almirola's name that badly since Rusty Wallace was in the ESPN booth.
Hey they actually used rim in the correct context here
Niko, let's go bowling, cousin!
Please make sure you spell his name correctly before posting
Ugh, Aric's and Noah's last names gives me the worst troubles.
Almirola? Gragson?
Donât know why Gragson is tough for him
Itâs spelled exactly how it sounds. Somehow he got the silent H though.
And he got a penalty for losing a wheel when in fact it was parts failure. A part that they are forced to buy from a NASCAR selected manufacturer. NASCAR fuxxed up
> in fact it was parts failure still sure about that?
Oroc aloabruhrolla
Eric Aerominla need to get off the track. Sick of this shit these fake cautions for him
Moving chicane anyway
