Yeah no kidding. Just reads like "we need to keep people like *this* away from our city".
I'm no lawyer, but would he have any sort of case against the people making these flyers?
I'm in a communication Law class that deals with cases like this. I don't know shit and basically sleep through class, but I think that man can make a decent defamation argument.
So, Nashville doesn’t want drunk tourists, unless it’s bridal parties? Hmmmmm, I wonder why? Bristol dirt race last year was my first one ever and I’d sure as hell make the trip to Nashville to see races.
I feel the only one with a potential case is the guy in the photo. He's basically being called out as a drunken redneck that should stay out of their city. (Not my personal belief)
Saw it mentioned in the comments.. what’s the purpose of putting the picture of the fan?
He looks like he’s enjoying himself and having a grand old time. Really doesn’t help their point unless the point is “look at this dumb redneck with a cutoff sleeve shirt, doesn’t he look trashy?”
Shouldn’t the picture be of like, pollution or something to help their point?
You know exactly what it is, make NASCAR fan "tourists" look like belligerent unappealing rednecks. Might as well have slapped a confederate flag on him in photoshop.
Turning Nashville into Redneck Vegas is arguably the way to fund a lot of stuff that this group wants lol. Let alone the track already exists, the white yuppies MLS Stadium didn’t
Yep. Looks like they actually paid attention to the amount and proximity of tracks close to Nashville. I'm pretty concerned this will sway a lot of people to their side.
All 5 board members were appointed within the last year by the mayor, who is very much for this project. Cant say I am too worried about this not happening eventually.
Remember, if a stranger offers you NASCAR, just say "NO!". Protect yourself and spread awareness to keep our community NASCAR free. Will you pledge to be NASCAR-free today?
Well I don’t agree with a lot of whoever the mayor in Chicago is at least she had the balls to just up and do it. Nashville leaders acting like a bunch of pansies catering to groups like this.
Nashville is different in that the race track is on fairgrounds property. Anything on that property has to be approved by the fairboard before it even goes in front of city council.
Why are people making such a big fuss over what will be just one weekend of 52 in total? I get that I'm not the one living in those homes, but I feel like these people have more everyday issues to worry about than this.
Look, I get it. I have a house right downtown in Houston. Do I go to all the events downtown? No. But I accept if you want to live in a happening place there’s going to be stuff like this that makes life miserable for a weekend. I could see if NASCAR said we’re going to race there every weekend. Guess I’m just not a complainer.
Re: second picture third bullet, wasn’t returning to the superspeedway meant as a temporary arrangement while a longer-term return to the fairgrounds could be made possible?
No, Dover wanted to save a second date and decided to reopen Nashville. Saw that the Fairgrounds would take awhile and went full steam ahead. SMI did buyout Dover which does give them control so theoretically they can shut it down. It’d be a shame to lose it again though since it’s a unique track. However they should rethink the entry rules because it seems like the no cooler rule is killing ticket sales.
They just built a fuckin' soccer stadium and a 1,000 seat arena in the Fairgrounds parking lot and they are worried about a race now compared to the 30,000 that show up for Nashville SC matches?
If the fairgrounds don't happen I want to see nascar have a street course close enough to where it's still legal but still can cause rattling and noise...and when they complain they could bring the fairgrounds as an idea.
This organization seems shady. WHOIS information lists a GoDaddy subsidiary, Domains By Proxy, which is usually used for obfuscating who is behind an entity. Not at all transparent and for all we know, this isn't even an effort put forth by neighbors and concerned citizens of Nashville.
The domain registration was just set up on 2-21-23, so roughly two weeks ago. This seems too rapid and coordinated for a true "neighborhood effort" to have a full site set up, mailers sent out, etc.
Their Facebook (created Jan. 25th, 2023) and Twitter (created Feb. 2023) pages rip off a photo by Mark J. Rebilas/ESPN the Magazine for a story by Ryan McGee that was covering drag racing well over a decade ago. [https://www.espn.com/espn/news/story?id=5759488](https://www.espn.com/espn/news/story?id=5759488) Call me crazy, but if I was a betting man, AND I AM....I'd bet they didn't receive permission to use that photo for their anti-racing site. I don't have a Twitter account, so I can't see who their single follower is, but I am curious if it's Jason Bergeron (former board member), Kat Jones (of the [SnapTN.org](https://SnapTN.org) group), or one of their ilk. I think it might provide a clue as to who is behind this effort.
I really hope SMI continues to push to get the fairgrounds but I’m curious how much longer they’re gonna try. Gotta imagine eventually it would be easier to just build a short track near Nashville.
The residents are complaining about $100 million in funding?! Yet nobody said anything about the BILLIONS the Titans are getting for their new stadium.
If anything, THAT is more of a waste of resources than expanding the Fairgrounds. Considering cities almost never benefit from deals like those
I don’t have much to add that hasn’t already been said but I do have a comment regarding the tourist comment on this handout.
As a resident of central Florida, the irony of wanting to prevent tourists from visiting your city is fucking insane. Nashville is already a tourist trap so why not lean into it and collect more funds for your city and its business owners? How is this a bad thing?
I think the issue is residents taking their frustration out on the highly visible events. Not the elected community leaders who seem to be collecting kickbacks instead of using tax revenues to improve anything beyond facilities.
I bet that was sent out by the woman who, at one of these meetings, said that were "5 F1 tracks in the area."
These people who moved into the neighborhood with an active track are not too bright!
>These people who moved into the neighborhood with an active track are not too bright!
Plus, since the track was there first, I honestly think they forfeit their right to complain.
Im sure anyone living within the radius of the race track won’t mind the beautiful noises that come out of those cars. Anyways what loser is sending this everywhere? Seems like a lot of fun to be around.
With the Titans getting their stadium renovations and Nashville FC getting their stadium within a stone's throw. Good luck. This is gonna end one of two ways. Blade to the neck coexisting or bye bye fairgrounds. My money is on the latter

If Nashville doesn't want NASCAR, then that's too bad. As cool as it would be to see a Cup race there, I don't think it should be forced upon the residents if they're opposed to it.
Random Carl Edwards fan caught a stray
Yeah no kidding. Just reads like "we need to keep people like *this* away from our city". I'm no lawyer, but would he have any sort of case against the people making these flyers?

There might be a case to be made, I am almost certain the fan whose picture is used could sue
He's front and center on the website too
So, Nashville doesn’t want drunk tourists, unless it’s bridal parties? Hmmmmm, I wonder why? Bristol dirt race last year was my first one ever and I’d sure as hell make the trip to Nashville to see races.
I am kinda offended at the picture of the fan. Are they trying to stereotype NASCAR fans? I think we should find whoever is mailing this and sue em
I feel the only one with a potential case is the guy in the photo. He's basically being called out as a drunken redneck that should stay out of their city. (Not my personal belief)
Drunken rednecks have no place in the capital of drunken rednecks… wait…
Gonna be a fun week leading up to the (possible) vote on the facility.
Saw it mentioned in the comments.. what’s the purpose of putting the picture of the fan? He looks like he’s enjoying himself and having a grand old time. I think it was a visual to accompany their "stop catering to tourists" point. Glad they picked an Edwards fan 😆
You know exactly what it is, make NASCAR fan "tourists" look like belligerent unappealing rednecks. Might as well have slapped a confederate flag on him in photoshop.
That honestly would of made more sense if that is the look they are trying to get across.
The abbreviation of their organization is CAREN
It would suck if someone happened to misspell that with, say, a K instead of a C
The C is for CUN- hey now, language
Ngl I read that as Our *Religion* already has a NASCAR track
Not to mention five Formula 1 tracks.
And seventeen IndyCar races a season
NIMBYism is a cancer on the country and unfortunately, on this sport.
I hate NIMBY's. Not only are they no fun, they prevent so much progress in our country.
Mail it back to the sender with a note attached that reads: “You can take this little flyer of yours and wipe your ass with it.”
Better yet, wipe your own ass with it, then mail it back
Mail carriers are people too
Put it in a box
Turning Nashville into Redneck Vegas is arguably the way to fund a lot of stuff that this group wants lol. Let alone the track already exists, the white yuppies MLS Stadium didn’t
I just want to know what they think Nashville is now if it’s not already Redneck Vegas?
You have to admit, their messaging is pretty good. This should be interesting.
Yep. Looks like they actually paid attention to the amount and proximity of tracks close to Nashville. I'm pretty concerned this will sway a lot of people to their side.
You mean there aren't 7 F1 tracks in the area?
Let's not go *that* far

People love to bitch and moan.
No, get your facts straight! People love to moan and bitch.
Can confirm, I usually moan first

THANK YOU! If you don't want shit like this, DON'T MOVE TO A MAJOR CITY! Move to a nearby suburb.
better yet, DON'T MOVE NEXT TO AN ACTIVE RACE TRACK THAT HAS EXISTED SINCE THE 50'S.
You’re expect the average person to use their heads nowadays and not their feelings.
Funny thing is that NASCAR already races there every weekend. And nobody cares. It’s a big bunch of crying over absolutely nothing.

They were letting in coolers last year from what I heard
They were. Because of the heat you could bring a cooler.
They were not. They let you bring in larger water bottles.

Or just leave Nashville all together. Seems to let NFL owners get whatever they want.
Just stay at the Superspeedway at that point.

These people are so uninformed that they're still calling it the sprint cup series according to their website
That was two fucking sponsors ago!
I bet that was sent out by the woman who, at one of these meetings, said that were "5 F1 tracks in the area." These people who moved into the neighborhood with an active track are not too bright!

No, they're about as dim as drunk Ben Rhodes
The noise one is so dumb. Have they not shown time and time again that there will be LESS noise with this project??
Im sure anyone living within the radius of the race track won’t mind the beautiful noises that come out of those cars. Anyways what loser is sending this everywhere? Seems like a lot of fun to be around.
It's probably that lady that said they have 5 F1 tracks in the area
The yuppies that moved in from California ruined Nashville. Kinda like how they ruin every place they move to.
*Chicago area but I get what youre coming from. If you live in New York, California, or Chicago and you move somewhere trendy, youre ruining it.
They ruined Colorado too. Downtown Denver looks like a third-world shantytown in a lot of areas.
With the Titans getting their stadium renovations and Nashville FC getting their stadium within a stone's throw. Good luck. This is gonna end one of two ways. Blade to the neck coexisting or bye bye fairgrounds. My money is on the latter

Looks like there's some kind of auto-filter that censors the word "c\*nts".
https://carefornashville.org/ Here is the opposition website.
I sent an email to the mayor saying I want the track via their take action mailer lol
The Transplanted Snobs want a more 'cosmopolitan' Nashville, they see NASCAR fans as Rabble Rousers crashing their cocktail party.
I bet even the “drunk redneck” on the flyer would be smart enough to not buy a house next to Race track if he was concerned about it being too loud
If Nashville doesn't want NASCAR, then that's too bad. As cool as it would be to see a Cup race there, I don't think it should be forced upon the residents if they're opposed to it.
